☕️ Coffee & Covid ☙ Tuesday, February 8, 2022 ☙ FLOCKS OF GOVERNORS 🦠
A flock of blue-state governors announced ending mask mandates yesterday, so weird on the same day; experts agree; media personalities agree; a trucker update; an FDA document case update; and more...
Remember back when I told you about Narrative 2.0, and I said if I was right, we’d see a big shift in February, since they can’t just turn on a dime on March 1st? They have to retrain the brains of people who are still wearing N95-over-surgical masks to go jogging, or it’s not going to take hold. So I predicted February would be the month for experts to start telling us how safe things are getting, blue politicians to start calling for everyone to get back to normal, and mandates to start lifting like a flock of mangy seagulls taking off from the beach, squawking and crying.
With great fanfare and personal pleasure, I present you … today’s roundup!
🗞 *THE C&C ARMY POST* 🗞
🪖 But first, I need to advise everyone about a quiet little bill sneaking its way through the Florida Legislature right now, scheduled to be passed by itself on Wednesday. HB 7021 will extend hospitals’ Covid-19 lawsuit immunity until June 23, 2023. It is a disaster. It must be stopped.
The bill may be well-intentioned. When the original liability-shield law was passed early in the pandemic, there was concern that if businesses lifted mask mandates, or hospitals got creative with Covid treatments different from the CDC’s recommendations, then pro-lockdowners would file a million frivolous lawsuits claiming they caught Covid when they walked into a mask-free store or something.
But, particularly with hospitals, the liability shield law backfired. Because the hospitals only get the shield if they follow recognized Covid-19 standards. In the case of hospitals, that ironically means following the CDC’s Covid-19 treatment protocol, which hasn’t changed since the days of remdesivir and ventilators. Which we now know kill a lot of people who might otherwise survive if treated using more up-to-date methods.
In other words, ironically, if hospitals follow the CDC’s death protocol, they are immune from lawsuits. But if they administer ivermectin, for example, they would probably lose their liability shield. So the well-intended liability shield law cemented in the most deadly, disastrous treatment scheme now imaginable.
Extending that shield another year would be disastrous. What is happening to Covid patients in hospitals right now is a tragedy of historic proportions. While the liability shield law may not be the ONLY problem, it is a BIG problem, and a big PART of the problem. It must end, which it would by its own terms this June, unless it’s extended.
The only hope for ending it is Governor DeSantis. It’s too late to stop it in the Florida House. Governor DeSantis must veto the bill once it gets to him. Under Florida law, the Governor has 15 days from receipt of a passed bill to sign it, veto it, or do nothing. If he does nothing, it becomes law automatically. Fortunately, the Governor has been advocating for patients’ rights lately.
It may be that hospitals still need some liability protection, although it’s hard for me to imagine why at this point in the pandemic’s third year. But a bill like this MUST — at minimum — be balanced between patients’ rights and hospitals’ needs. HB 7021 is NOT balanced. Lawmakers fail to appreciate the destructive perverse incentives this bill creates for hospitals. I’m not a lawmaker, but AT THE VERY LEAST the bill should protect hospitals when they use off-label treatments, just as much as when they follow CDC guidelines. People, please. We have to stop the madness somewhere.
By the way, this story was reported yesterday in The Epoch Times, and may or may not mention your favorite Covid news blogger. Florida Lawmakers Aim to Extend Protection to Hospitals in Treating COVID-19; Lawyers Object.
🗞*COVID NEWS AND COMMENTARY* 🗞
💉 Israel National News ran a story yesterday headlined, “’80% of Serious COVID Cases are Fully Vaccinated’ Says Ichilov Hospital Director.” You knew that was coming sooner or later, didn’t you?
Professor Yaakov Jerris, director of Ichilov Hospital’s coronavirus ward, said “Right now, most of our severe cases are vaccinated. They had at least three injections. So, the vaccine has no significance regarding severe illness, which is why just twenty to twenty-five percent of our patients are unvaccinated.”
What he means is, in quadruple-jabbed Israel, which is about two months ahead of other countries, the jabs aren’t providing any clear advantage against severe illness anymore. So the rate of severe patients is tracking the rate of injections in the general population, which is about 20-25% uninjected.
We don’t have to tie EVERYTHING to Narrative 2.0. But one of the possibilities could be that the Administration saw something in the early data convincing the Administration that it was time to pivot. Imagine how politically damaging it would be if, by the time of the November elections, it became obvious that the jabs won’t even protect against severe illness. Jabbed people would be pretty pissed.
Now, you can hide a pandemic by shutting down testing. Just ask Obama. You can even hide a pandemic of the vaccinated. And remember — the government can switch on the horse dewormer ANYTIME they want. They’ve kept it in their pocket. They never said it DOESN’T work. They can turn it on whenever they want. So. Just saying.
💉 Healthy 46-year-old comedienne Chelsea Handler canceled her “Vaccinated and Horny” tour over the weekend after being hospitalized for an unidentified “health scare.” Just two days later, Handler’s friend and co-comedienne Heather McDonald suddenly collapsed during her own comedy show, fracturing her skull when she fell.
According to media reports, McDonald was on stage telling a joke about how she’d gotten her Covid shots, a booster, a flu shot, and shingles shots, and that’s why Jesus loves her the most. As she completed the punchline, reports say she collapsed without warning, leaving fans wondering if it was part of the joke. It wasn’t. Apparently, her accident was reported as a seizure.
We pray for a speedy recovery, and wisdom, for both ladies.
🔥 Governor John Carney of Delaware announced yesterday that the deep-blue state’s mask mandate is finally ending! Hurrah! In a tweet yesterday, the governor said, “We are lifting DE’s statewide mask mandate for indoor public settings at 8am on Friday, Feb 11,” explaining that “we’re in a much better place than we were several weeks ago.” He even declared an end to school mask mandates on March 31 — the same month as the you-know-what.
🔥 Governor Phil Murphy triumphantly announced yesterday that the Garden State’s statewide mask mandate will be ending March 7 — one week after you-know-who makes his big speech. School districts can decide whether they want to keep their mandates on a district-by-district basis. “We can responsibly take this step due to declining COVID numbers and growth in vaccinations,” Murphy tweeted.
In a tweet later in the afternoon yesterday, Murphy explained that “We are not going to manage COVID to zero. We have to learn how to live with COVID as we move from a pandemic to an endemic phase of this virus.” We have to learn how to live with the virus. HAVE TO. It’s a mandate.
🔥 Yesterday, California announced that the Golden State will end its statewide mask mandate on February 15, and also lift negative test mandates for visiting hospitals and nursing homes. “We have to learn to live with this virus,” said Roger Baily, a Southern California resident, in an article about the story by CBS Los Angeles. But — and don’t ask me how this will be possibly enforced — the indoor mask mandate will continue only for uninjected people. That should make people feel better who only took the jab to “get back to normal.”
🔥 Yesterday, Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont announced that he is ending the statewide school mask mandates on February 28 — one day before the you-know-what. Like New Jersey, the decision after that will be up to individual school districts. That’s how you thread the needle; letting the blue counties continue mandatory masking, for now, and the red counties can go back to normal. At some point, when unmasked counties don’t have outbreaks, blue counties will be forced to follow.
Lamont explained that “Connecticut is seeing a dramatic decline in cases caused by the Omicron variant, and children over the age of 5 have had the ability to get vaccinated for more than three months now.”
In a related tweet, Lamont linked former FDA commissioner and Pfizer exec Scott Gottlieb, who has been making the media rounds lately peddling Narrative 2.0, saying “I think it’s prudent for governors to think about what the ‘off switch’ looks like.”
🔥 Yesterday, CNN’s TV-doctor and George Washington University public health professor Leanna Wen did an about-face and tweeted that “In the coming days, we will see many Governors and local leaders lift mask mandates. This is the right step.” The right step!
And — I promise I am not making this up — Wen endorsed PERSONAL LIBERTY over government regulation, explaining in an interview with Wolf Blitzer linked to her tweet that masking “needs to shift from a government requirement to an individual decision. The government can’t keep on telling our citizens that this is a five-alarm fire all the time. People are just going to start tuning it out and not pay attention; they’ll be desensitized.” Blitzer nodded sagely in agreement while Wen completed her pivot.
“What needs to happen,” Wen continued, “is we need to end the state of emergency.” She also tweeted support for all the blue governors lifting mask mandates yesterday. It takes a village to end a pandemic. She said restrictions should be lifted “as quickly as possible.” There are only a few weeks left.
🔥 Democrat congressional powerhouse Ted Lieu of California tweeted yesterday that “with the rapid decline of Omicron, pandemic restrictions will be lifted sooner rather than later.” Sooner! Not later. Maybe in about three weeks? Lieu might also have just revealed another toggle that will be switched on to support Narrative 2.0: NATURAL IMMUNITY. “Health officials must factor in natural immunity, not just vaccination rates. [The] CDC … recognizes natural immunity and so should health officials.” So that’s where natural immunity has been hiding all this time!
See how easy it is? They’ve ALSO been keeping natural immunity in their “off switch” pocket. Remember, they never said natural immunity doesn’t work. They just said they didn’t KNOW. And, now they know. How timely!
🔥 The Hill reported yesterday that the Biden Administration is now in crisis mode over its polling with black Americans, who have historically supported the Democrat party in large (90%+) numbers. The story is headlined, “Biden Looks for Way to Win Back Deflated Black Voters.” See that, black Americans? You’ve been deflated. By something.
The Hill notes “there are plenty of signs of trouble” for Biden among black voters, and “the warning signs are flashing red.” An NBC News poll released Thursday showed Biden’s approval rating among black Americans slid markedly, to 64 percent approval now, down from 83 percent nine months ago. The Hill pointed out that even a moderate lapse in black turnout could “doom many congressional Democrats in November.”
While the article only cites two activists plus Al Sharpton attributing the slide to a grab-bag of alleged long-standing black political objectives, and fails to mention the pandemic at all, which is after all what has driven Biden’s polling down with every single other group, everybody still knows what the biggest issue really is. Black folks are no different than white folks or any other color folks in wanting their kids to have normal childhoods.
What could Biden to to turn this around?
🔥 Politico reported a story yesterday about the Biden Administration headlined, “Biden Officials Trying to Recalculate U.S. Covid-19 Hospitalizations.” Recalculate. Politico says that two anonymous “senior officials familiar with the matter” say the Biden administration is working on recalculating the number of Covid-19 hospitalizations in the U.S..
Whenever you see anonymous senior officials used as a source, it always means the story was planted in friendly media, for watering and subsequent sale to consumers.
The story explains that a brand-new task force of scientists and data specialists at HHS and the CDC are now — right now — working with hospitals nationwide to “improve” Covid-19 reporting. They’re improving the reports! Making them a lot better! According to the Politico’s anonymous senior officials, the new task force is asking hospitals to report the numbers of patients who ACTUALLY have Covid-19 separately from those who went in for other reasons but tested positive after admission.
And, here it comes again! Politico explains that senior Biden health officials have increasingly relied on hospitalization numbers instead of case counts to determine how to respond to the virus as well as how effective the vaccines are. After all, “cases” mean nothing; they’re completely useless. Ignore all those cases behind the curtain. Just look at the new, improved hospitalization numbers! Don’t be so negative.
How hospitalizations are reported is yet another tool they’ve been keeping buried in the old “off switch” tool bag. Remember? They used the same trick — newly-designed reporting metrics — to switch ON the pandemic. By three weeks from now, the task force should have the new, “more accurate” reporting all dialed in. Just in time for you-know-what.
I wonder. Do you think they’ll lower PCR test cycle count thresholds next?
🔥 For all of you who are intensely vexed by the pivot — quite rightfully, I might add — I’m only going to say this once. To end the pandemic, they need to believe it will be a political win. Let them believe that. Let them end the pandemic. Then you can complain bitterly after.
🚛 In Freedom Convoy news, when Ottawa mayor Jim Watson declared a state of emergency this weekend over the protests, he said “Loud honking is tantamount to psychological warfare.” Um, what about burning down police stations or occupying downtown city blocks? What kind of warfare is that? Oh, never mind. I guess we don’t need states of emergency when people burn down POLICE STATIONS. Just when they beep their car horns. Makes sense.
Then yesterday, an Ottawa judge entered an order banning honking in the capital city for ten days. No more honking! “Tooting a horn is not an expression of any great thought I’m aware of,” the judge said. Like the Supreme Court in Roe v. Wade, the Ottawa judge discovered a new right that is, allegedly, being infringed by the truckers: the right to QUIET, which, he said, trumped the truckers’ right to protest. You must protest quietly. Silently, preferably.
Apparently this judge is unaware of any other protests that have NOT been quiet. Well, maybe. It’s possible, I suppose. I mean, it IS Canada, after all. Maybe they protest quietly up there. Anyway, judges aren’t supposed to enter injunctions that are impossible for the court to enforce. I wonder how this judge thinks he’ll enforce this order. Arrest them all for contempt? He’d have to hold a hearing for every one. Sounds unlikely.
🔥 Remember when Pfizer recently moved to intervene in the FOIA lawsuit against the FDA, asking the Court to let the FDA take decades to release the clinical trial documents? Well, the judge entered an order DENYING Pfizer’s motion yesterday. Pfizer had argued that the FDA might start to release something that it disagrees with, and then its interests might not be adequately represented in the proceeding. But the judge essentially said come back when there is an ACTUAL — not hypothetical — problem. Buh bye. Denied.
🔥 Just for Substack readers, here’s a headline making the rounds yesterday:
It’s a joke, of course, but the fact that it’s hard to tell, and believable at first glance, makes the joke even funnier. Enjoy the little details, like the link chain.
Have a terrific Tuesday and stay warm! Coffee helps. See you tomorrow.

There is a reason why the love of money is considered to be the root of all evil and it’s not just what people are willing to do to get it, but also the control it grants to the person giving it over the person getting it.
Washington, for example, controls the states by granting them money on a rolling basis, and once they are hooked they threaten to take it away if the states do not do what Washington tells them to do. So they do it.
So is it any wonder then, to learn that the reason schools require and strictly enforce masking children - one of the biggest crimes against humanity in history - is because they are paid to do so by the CDC?
