Seems like I read somewhere that the boil the frog thing actually doesn’t work. Frogs are too smart. They’ll jump out long before they get boiled. Never tried it myself. Anyone know for sure? Sounds apocryphal to me.

Well, I don't know. But I always doubted that real frogs weren't smart enough to know when to make the great leap out of the pot. But in current culture, the 'boil the frog slowly' and its meaning seem an objet fixe needing dynamite to dislodge from the language. Some things are incapable of being changed ... maybe?

Has to be frog. Tastes like chicken. Or so I hear. I wouldn't know.

Figuratively, has to be frog. What other animal hangs out in water and can muster a great leap in no time flat against a threat?

Curiosity killed the cat.

Raining cats and dogs.

Memory like an elephant.

Idiomatic.

Objet fixe. Save the dynamite for bigger fish. 😁🥱

Why, thankee for the compliment. Not expecting to rev up any time soon over there, crayons, markers - permanent or washable - or otherwise. Best laid plans and all that. Tis life 'tis.
