You know the antidepressants they've been prescribing since the 80s, it recently came out drug makers have no idea what they do, but they don't increase the manufacture of serotonin. I think it's safe to assume we've been lied to for years about the things we're ingesting. Jeff recommends not taking anything developed after 2000. I'm thinking maybe we shouldn't take anything after 1960 or 1970. A DPT shot in 1993 killed my child, so I'm probably predisposed to believe the worst
Exactly!!! You're exactly right! This was one thing in Pharm School that I always thought off. We can't measure "depression" or "serotonin" (or pain for that matter) like we can measure "blood pressure".. so WHY are we prescribing stronger doses for something that is purely subjective?
And I'm so so sorry to hear about your child. Nothing but positivity being sent your way :)
Yup, all the "chemical imbalance" stuff is a BS theory that more and more evidence refutes. Pharma and their shills claim this stuff corrects broken brain chemistry but they have no way of knowing this or testing it. It's a theory. If your doctor recommends these drugs then ask him, "what test can you run now to show my brain chemistry is disturbed, and then rerun after taking the drug to show it's been corrected?" Your doctor will be forced to admit it doesn't exist.
They claim these drugs fix brain chemistry because they make people feel better or result in more socially acceptable behavior. Back before I got sober, a half-pint of whiskey made me feel better too, so I guess I was treating broken brain chemistry? That is it made me fell better until it didn't any more, much like these psychotropic drugs.
These drugs often make people (kids in particular) behave in a more socially acceptable fashion because they blunt emotions. How is that treatment? Getting your kids stoned on pot so they stare off into space like zombies would also reduce impulsive behavior so I guess that is treatment also?
All of this stuff is a lie. Pharma realized there was a huge untapped market of people who enjoy the zombie like state of mind-altering drugs. They realized they could take the illegal drug users of the 60's and 70's and turn them into lifetime customers with the profits going to them instead of the corner drug dealer. It's absolutely no different, and the fact that doctors push this stuff and mindlessly parrot pharma talking points is downright criminal. They are *no* different from the corner drug dealer.
And if you are taking daily psychotropic meds, and are anything short of psychotic, you really need to ask yourself if this is in your best interest.
From my own observations, I think a lot of alcohol and drug use comes from not knowing how to deal with issues. Drugs and alcohol provide an excellent escape; you don't think about all the awful stuff when you're drugged/drunk, but if a thought slips through, what do you care? I also think a lot of TV and social media has the same effect. These are ways of disconnecting from your problems. It's not healthy. Back in the day, you had to get up before sunrise to take care of the animals before you went to work the fields. I believe that physical activity gave a person an opportunity to consider things in life - you can't get away from your problems when you're slaving away in the sun and your livelihood depends on the sweat of your brow. I think the physicality of the old way of life made it nearly impossible to be bored - who has time to be bored when you literally can't take another step? I don't currently have any way of proving my hypothesis, but would like to move to the middle of nowhere and see if I'm on to something.
My sister used to teach third grade and was also in charge of the after school program. She said at 3:00 every day there was a line of students waiting for their meds. 3 rd graders!!!! For a period of time my son was having some mental issues and we played pharmaceutical roulette with psych drugs. PSYCH DRUGS ARE THE WORST! It was heartbreaking to watch the side effects and see these drugs turn him into a zombie. I’m sorry I didn’t catch on to the medical grift years ago. They are experimenting on us. Yes, vioxx helped my headaches but at least I lived to be able to have more of them.
I think you are spot on. I think of all the poor kids who are taking ADD/ADHD drugs when the vast majority need to just get outside and run off some energy. I’m sure there’s a study somewhere showing a decrease in PE and / or recess time and an increase in ADHD.
Back when my boys were little, lots of other boys were going on ADD/ADHD medications. I remember the teachers complaining that the boys didn't sit still, they had trouble paying attention, they were too active... My impression was that teachers only wanted to teach girls because they did sit still, they did pay attention, they weren't too active. It played nicely with this idea that masculinity is toxic. I had people push me to put my boys on those drugs. I never thought of their behavior as problematic though. To my mind, they behaved like boys so there was no call to medicate them.
Kids in general are supposed to be active! Of course they have trouble paying attention! Most kids are kinesthetic learners—meaning they learn best when they are moving. And it’s just wrong to think they’re gonna sit still in a chair for 6-8 hours per day. That’s why our culture medicates them—to keep them in their chair. We did our lessons at a fast pace, played games to reinforce concepts, did board work so they could get up out of their seat and move, and took breaks so kids could run and play. That’s why homeschools, private schools, and charter schools are starting to take off. Most of them have a more classical philosophy of education.
Good for you. I had many students being “treated” for ADHD. Strong correlation between that and having two working-professional parents. The kids with “attention disorders” were exceptionally bright, curious, and creative. They’d probably been bored with school for years before Ritalin turned them into chapped-lipped zombies. The supposedly hyper students had two things in common: they were boys, and their parents had no idea how to teach them self-control and how to channel their energy. Ritalin didn’t cure them. It just slowed them down. It’s horrifying to see otherwise intelligent adults doping up their own kids to control behavior.
Jeff, C, you might 'enjoy' listening to this speaker from the Hillsdale College Center for Constructive Alternatives conference on Big Pharma. His history of the pharmaceutical industry is revealing.
I've been amazed to learn how much has been happening for so long, on all fronts, without my being aware of it, despite considering myself to be well-informed and -educated. I was neither. I'm sorry for the great suffering the COVID debacle has caused and continues to cause, but I'm grateful for the silver lining of more awareness of reality by many. May we be successful in turning the 'ship' around.
Don’t forget the study last year that said moderate exercise outdoors (like a walk) was more effective for depression than SSRIs. I’ve always wondered how much depression has to do with low vitamin D... I never feel better, more energized and optimistic than after simply taking a walk.
Oh, absolutely! Anti-depressants are horrible! Look how many there are and the average number of different ones they dispense, trying to find one that works! Ugh! Our daughter was one more yhan one at times and had a bad reaction to a newer one, Latuda, that put her in the rehab unit for suicidal thoughts!! Never again!
That's it exactly. Everyone talks about America being a fun culture and that's the reason, but of course it's always been a gun culture and that never happened. But no one ever mentions that Americans take more prescription drugs than all other countries combined!!!
I took Prozac for a year back in 1996. It helped me tremendously as I was seriously depressed, as in wanting to slit my wrists depressed. I stopped taking it after a year because I wanted to try a weight loss drug that interfered with the Prozac. That didn’t work...lol. But, I felt so much better I didn’t start taking it again. About 4-6 years later I started feeling the depression creeping back up. At the same time I started seeing a Chiropractor. After a few months I noticed that the day after my adjustment I wouldn’t feel depressed. I asked my Chiropractor about it and she said “Depression is in your neck on the Axis bone, getting adjusted resets your computer.”
That's not a bad question.

Well said, Jeff. Especially the part about whiskey.
"The doctor says it will kill me, but he won't say when".

Thanks! Well worth the watch. I had no idea the Sacklers despicable actions went back seventy years.

It’s in my family’s/husband’s best interest 🤣
Haha, I love it. Kudos for your honesty.
Interesting fact: the first line of help for depression in Germany is the herb St John's Wort.
Don’t forget the study last year that said moderate exercise outdoors (like a walk) was more effective for depression than SSRIs. I’ve always wondered how much depression has to do with low vitamin D... I never feel better, more energized and optimistic than after simply taking a walk.
I should have said ‘mild’ depression.
My first line, too. That and vitamin D are all the boost I need - even in today’s super bizarre world.
Not everyone can tske St John's Wort... I recall the health food industry started putting it in snack foods and found that out...
It is better to try it though rather than to try antidepressants.

Look into all the mass shootings and psychotropics. The dots connect.

Chiropracty (like exercise) can release serotonin.
And most health insurance (what a scam) doesn’t pay for chiropractic
Right? And it helps so much. I tell people all the time if I hadn’t started going 16 years ago, I’d need a hip replacement by now.
I’m so sorry
Sorry for the loss of your child, GG. Agree with your thoughts.
I am so sorry. 🙏
So sorry for your loss.Thank you for your honesty and trusting us to hear your heart.
🥺🥺🥺
LOVE your avatar = : )
Thanks. The fine print is hard to see. The picture was "borrowed" from Jovan Pulitzer. 😉
