I just learned during my recent pregnancy that oftentimes heartburn is caused by a lack of acid in the diet, causing your body to produce its own and sometimes it makes too much. My midwife told me that's why pregnant women so commonly have pickle cravings, to combat the common pregnancy symptom of heartburn. :) God programmed our bodies to know all of this for us. We're just catching up, or undoing the damage our hubris has done. In any case, my midwife recommended apple cider vinegar too, including in a capsule form (easier to handle on a pregnant, nauseous tummy:) made for heartburn. Cleared that symptom right up and the rest of my pregnancy was smooth and now I have a beautiful baby daughter. Not that heartburn would have changed that outcome, but just in case anyone was wondering how the story ended. :)
