ππ¬ WORLD NEWS AND COMMENTARY π¬π
π₯ Newsweek ran a delightful story yesterday headlined βMcCarthy Pits Ukraine Support Against Border Funding to Avoid Shutdown.β
So far, Iβve spared you all the ongoing hysteria the last couple weeks over the annual media frenzy that erupted, like clockwork, over the usual βhigh-stakesβ budget negotiations and the ever-predictable threats of a federal government shutdown, which are currently flying around like spoonfuls of boiled peas and watery mashed potatoes in a 1980βs middle-school lunchroom.
Newsweekβs video teaser above the article begins with the ominous headline, βSenators warn Americans will suffer if shutdown occurs.β
Suffer? Donβt. Make. Me. Laugh.
I say fine, shut it down. All of it. Every single agency. Nobody notices anyway, except maybe National Park tourists, but we must all sacrifice a little for the common good. Or at least, thatβs what they tell us. Anyway, federal workers would also get a nice paid holiday with a big check at the end. Iβd even be okay with paying federal workers to not work. Itβs win-win. Actually, itβs win-win-win β times infinity.
But since nobody listens to me, they wonβt shut it down, and so we grit our teeth and tolerate the boring, repetitive cycle of intelligence-agency-drafted media budgetary hysterics. But this time, like a blind squirrel, McCarthy may have finally unearthed a useful chestnut. True, a third-grader would have seen this play, but weβre not used to watching Congress operate above a third-grade level, are we?
The story was, Kevin McCarthy is β allegedly β putting together a doomed budget package that would force the federal government to do something meaningful to stop the invasion at our Southern Border before any more taxpayer money gets Fedexed over to the deep stateβs crack house, also known as the country of βUkraine,β which is an ancient Russian word that translates to English as βThanks, Suckers!β
Newsweek reported that McCarthy told reporters yesterday, βIfΒ want to focus on Ukraine and not focus on the southern border, I think their priorities are backwards.β
I mean, the irony! As McCarthy seems to be saying, and this is the point, or the res gestae, we are currently paying billions and billions and billions and throwing our entire arsenal β except maybe for our fleet of high-tech, semi-autonomous F35 fighter jets, which a military spokesman insisted were not βlost,β just βmisplaced,β and will be found any day now, probably β apart from those, weβre doing everything humanly possible to STOP THE INVASION IN UKRAINE.
Get it?
What about stopping the invasion a little closer to home? Like, RIGHT DOWN THERE. You know. The UNITED STATESβs border. Why donβt we send some Bradley βfighting vehiclesβ and Leopard tanks and cluster mines or whatever else weβre tossing down the Eastern European toilet down to the SOUTHERN BORDER instead? I mean, instead of paying corrupt Ukrainian oligarchic Nazis to fight Russians, why donβt we pay the Cartels to close OUR border? Seriously, whatβs the difference?
Or instead of blowing up underwater Russian pipelines, how about we blow up the pipeline through Central America? Instead of sanctioning Lithuanians for selling chicken coops to Russian farmers, how about we sanction Mexico for invading the U.S.? Instead of destroying the Kerch Bridge between Russia and the Crimean Peninsula, how about we destroy the human bridge into America?
I could do this all day.
Good luck, Kevin. Speaker McCarthy earns a lot of well-deserved criticism, but focusing Congress on this issue was a solid move. Your move, deep state.
π₯ Politico ran a stomach-turning story yesterday headlined, βChinese hackers nab 60,000 emails in State Department breach.β
Super qualified Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo said she has no idea how the Chinese got into all her secret emails.
According to newly-released information, the highly-competent diplomats at the State Department reluctantly admitted yesterday that the meddlesome agency accidentally gave its email and banking information to a displaced Chinese prince who needed some help getting ten million dollars out of the communist country. Apparently, he explained that the secret police were closing in, and he urgently needed to get his familyβs fortune out, quick, and he was willing to let the State Department keep ten percent for the help.
Or something like that: βState Department officials said hackers broke into the 10 accounts using a token stolen from a Microsoft engineer.β
Uh huh.
I donβt mean to sound repetitive, but shut it down before things get worse. Please. Iβm begging.
π The irony continued thick and hot this week in another article, this one in New Zealandβs RNZ News, with the unlikely headline: βMelanoma researcher experimenting on his own brain tumour.β Do not try that at home.
Professor Richard Scolyer, 56, is a prominent cancer doctor and co-director of the Sydney-based Melanoma Institute of Australia. Despite being in terrific health, having access to the best medical technology in the world, and being an expert in cancer treatment and avoidance, a couple months ago in May Dr. Scolyer experienced a sudden and unexpected seizure.
He immediately went in for diagnosis. MRI scans showed he ALREADY had stage four wild-type glioblastoma, which is a brain cancer that is unfortunately usually fatal within six to nine months. Dr. Scolyer told Saturday Morning his cancer was "the worst of the worst, as far as brain cancers go. It's incurable and the standard treatment hasn't changed in 18 years."
Now get this. Dr. Scolyer, a glutton for punishment, has volunteered to test the worldβs first mRNA cancer βvaccine.β The word βvaccineβ has gotten very fluid these days. Technically his treatment is being called a βpersonalized neoadjuvant combination immunotherapy.β
How an after-the-fact genetic treatment is now called a βvaccineβ is beyond me. One suspects that generous government liability protection for βvaccinesβ may have something to do with it. Anyway, Dr. Scolyer is big pharmaβs latest guinea pig. I suppose he doesnβt have much to lose at this point. Maybe more mRNA is the ticket.
The βpersonalizedβ cancer treatment involves making an mRNA shot that creates proteins based on the same tumor that is in Dr. Scolyerβs head, with the idea being to stimulate his immune system into attacking the tumor. βThis has excited the brain cancer neuro oncology community and the bio-pharmaceutical industry, so hopefully some clinical trials will start very soon,β Dr. Scolyer explained.
I bet it has excited the bio-pharmaceutical industry.
Pharma has been experimenting with mRNA for cancer treatment for over twenty years without success. In fact, cancer treatment was the original intention for mRNA. Careful observers will recall a lot of hoopla a few years ago about βpersonalized cancer treatments.β They meant mRNA, we just didnβt know it at the time. But so far, nothing has worked.
We pray that Dr. Scolyer becomes the first success story. If it works, it would be good news for a lot of folks.
π Sadly, it is too late for one of Dr. Scolyerβs colleagues, who died on August 13th from brain cancer, which in her case is euphemistically being referred to as βa long illness.β Dr. Mary-Louise McLaws, 70, was an internationally renowned epidemiologist and professor at the University of New South Wales School of Public Health and Community Medicine. Until recently, that is.
She was also an influential member of the WHOβs Health Emergencies Program Experts Advisory Panel for Infection Prevention and Control Preparedness, Readiness and Response to covid-19 (the βHEPEAPIPCPRRC19β). Throughout the pandemic, McLaws advised the Australian government on lockdowns, face masking, and jab mandates, and was all over Australian media scolding hesitant Ozzies for not jabbing fast enough. She practically chased people around with a giant hypodermic needle.
Anyway, Mary was diagnosed with βbrain cancerβ in January 2022. I canβt find any article describing the type of brain cancer that killed her. But whatever it was, it came on suddenly and unexpectedly. From the Sydney Morning Herald in June 2022:
Sadly, Dr. McLaws will not be around to see if all her jab advice will turn out to have been worth it, or whether even more mRNA might have cured her sudden and unexpected brain cancer. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family in this difficult time.
π Royal College fellow, medical pioneer, lifetime science achievement award winner, and Kings College Professor Linda Cardozo, 73, died suddenly and unexpectedly this week. Very suddenly and unexpectedly.
Dr. Cardozo died while taking a short nap on a British Airways flight from London to Nice, where sheβd planned to enjoy a well-deserved holiday with her husband, who was sitting right next to her on the plane. Her kindly husband let Linda sleep until most of the other passengers had left the plane. Thatβs when he figured out she wasnβt waking up.
Dr. Cardozo was pronounced dead at the scene. At least she died peacefully. Very peacefully.
No cause of death has been released, or ever will be.
By the way, anecdotally, itβs getting harder and harder to find these stories. The search engines, including on Twitter, have become extremely glitchy and unreliable when searching for key words like βdied suddenly.βΒ For some reason.
π On Monday, Nelson Mandelaβs celebrity grand-daughter, Zoleka Mandela, 43, died after a βbrief illness.β
The media reports about Zolekaβs death focus mostly on her 2011 bout with breast cancer, from which she fully recovered thirteen years ago. It took a little digging to find the cancer responsible for her untimely death this week.
I mean, cancers.
Zoleka had metastatic cancers of the hip, liver, lung, pelvis, brain and spinal cord. Basically all of it.
Zolekaβs Instagram account detailed her ongoing recent struggles with her cancers.
βOn Monday, September 18th, Zoleka Mandela was admitted into hospital for ongoing treatment for metastatic cancer to the hip, liver, lung, pelvis, brain and spinal cord,β the statement attributed to family spokesperson Zwelabo Mandela read. βRecent scans revealed significant disease progression including fibrosis in the lungs as well as several emboli.β
Zoleka overcame her fears of taking the covid vaccine after her doctor reassured her and used guilt manipulation. I found this in Zolekaβs (formerly) very active Twitter feed:
Weβre going to need a new word for this kind of thing. Turbo cancer just doesnβt quite capture the essence. Maybe βexploding turbo cancer?βΒ Share your suggestion in the comments.
π₯ In more budget news this week, the Military Times ran a hopeful story headlined, βDefense Secretary Austinβs salary cut to $1 under GOP budget plan.β
According to the story, on Wednesday House Republicans approved a measure to slash Defense Secretary Lloyd Austinβs annual salary from $221,000 to $1, based on their βdissatisfaction with his work,β including the botched withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan, the militaryβs disgraceful recruiting shortfalls, and his maniacal covid vaccine policies.
Itβs getting hard to find anything Lloyd has done well.
GOP lawmakers also approved multiple similar measures to cut the salaries of other Defense Department positions including: the Pentagonβs director of diversity and inclusion, the head of the departmentβs equity and inclusion office, the militaryβs chief diversity officer, and the openly trans assistant secretary of defense for readiness.
The salary-cutting amendment was proposed by outstanding Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) and was approved by a voice vote. It is probably going nowhere, since it would still have to run the Senateβs legislative gauntlet and would surely be vetoed by President Peters. But it sends a message.
Progress! Keep it up.
π₯ Yesterday, Elon Musk sarcastically announced that heβd fired Twitterβs entire Orwellian Election Integrity team:
Reports vary about how much of the department was let go, but Muskβs tweet seems to confirm it was the whole evil pack. Hilariously, when journalists contacted π to comment on the story, reports say they got the reply: "Busy now, please check back later.β
Democrats were hardest hit. Now how is Biden supposed to win?

Re: Zoleka Mandela: I cannot fathom the depraved evilness of preying upon an addict's legitimate fears and emotions with a false analogy and a false choice, just to get the shot in her arm - and it was said so casually, which fits right in with the concept of the banality of evil. Abhorrent, vile beings.
