What really ticks me off is: this is a situation of personal choice. Why in the Hell does anyone want to abdicate their choice? Personal responsibility. Why does this small group get to dictate my rights? Or your rights. One of the other Substack authors that I follow made the point that the swiftness and organization if these issues being brought to the forefront reeks of political involvement. Once again not about the people but the elites screwing the people. Read Toby Rogers latest post; it’s dynamite.

This cultural/political exaltation of the sexual-degeneracy-confusion movement is why promotion of "freedom" qua freedom ("liberty", "small government," "free markets", "autonomy") is totally insufficient to restore America to what it needs to be. What we need is virtue; promoting what we blandly called "family values" but which are really traditional *Christian* virtues and morality. Even many atheist historians are sounding the alarm that western civilization and its classical liberalism is going to collapse without Christianity at the helm - when you have atheists promoting Christianity, you know what time it is! The Founders warned us that our country and constitution were insufficient for any culture that was not composed of people who had Christ as King and the Bible as their rule book - they would slide into vice and selfish immorality and then be ruled by tyrants. Welp!

"While they promise them liberty, they themselves are slaves of corruption." - 2 Peter 2:19

The cultural/political exaltation is atheistic Woke Marxism ... and amazing how this demonic force does not distinguish between Good and Evil except by a fraudulent inversion. America was never supposed to have a state religon. That kind of thinking is what led to the prosecution of heretics in Europe, the burning and torturing of religious wrong-thinkers, and tyrannical governments spiritually policing the population. That's why the Founding Fathers did not try to impose their beliefs onto the population, because they did not want these things to happen in the United States of America.

Expand full comment
M. Joseph's avatar

Not a religion enforced by the state, no. But a culture infused with Christianity was the case at the founding (virtually everyone was Christian or Christian-adjacent, almost all institutions were founded as explicitly Christian, including many stares) and this was understood even by most agnostics/deists to be necessary for liberty and grace. Classical liberalism is only possible within a gracious Christendom informed by western civilization.

Nobody should want the dissolution of that; people should vote for representatives who recognize the centrality of it.

Expand full comment
daverkb's avatar

Actually, Micah Joseph is mostly right. And if one cares to look into it, all the Thirteen original colonies were founded as Christian republics under Christian constitutions conforming to Christian based and English derived Common Law (by custom and tradition). Indeed, the true American Exceptionalism is the founding of Christian states as republics based upon God's Law. You can see that this is so in the Declaration of Independence in all that headlined banner chatter about 'Unalienable Rights' flowing from the hand of a sovereign 'Creator God.' This talk, for all you lawyers and in what is really a kind of legal brief, established standing (the basis) upon which all ensuing argument is based. Think of the Declaration as a kind of involved breach of contract document.

The above is yet another tell as to the extent to which the Miscreants-at-Large have covered up and distorted, lied about our wonderful American history. And if you have a hard time believing this, it took me over fifty years of life to uncover just a slice of the truth. Why? Because most of the revealing resource material has been deep sixed under miles and miles of obfuscation.

Religion and morality are not mutually exclusive. Many people who don't believe in a higher power are still not degenerate. Granted, it does make it easier to be so without a moral compass, but virtue is still virtue. If bad behavior makes you sick, then stop the bad activity. The pox are just the physical manifestation of the hollow sickness that goes far beyond anything that can be erased by a vaccine.

Solomon’s Ecclesiastes, “There is nothing new under the sun.” The new morality is old depravity. It is said that we all have cancer cells but an effective immune system keeps their levels at bay. I think of society that way. Since the fall, these evils always exist and a healthy morality keeps them tamped down. Obviously we are now a world that has largely rejected the protection of Christian living and I do believe we are at critical levels of overall spread of degeneracy and in the 11th hour.

Agreed! And even Marxism - once you get past the shiny false surface of equality and compassion - is just the political repackaging of vengeful envy (the sin of Cain), a proud desire to defile God's creation (the sin of Satan), Psalm 2 conspiracy "Let us cast off the yoke of the Most High"), etc. Marx's poetry reveals these dark impulses. God's people have faced down these social poisons before.

But the internal machinations of ideological zealots trying to tear apart the foundations of America and even to induce youth psychopathologies that are ripe for political harnessing... that's something most Americans were not expecting and many are still in denial about.

While at a chain drugstore yesterday for some items not available at my grocery store, there was an overhead ad for You Know What boosters. You have to reapply them, just like sunscreen, the cheery voice announced. Come get yours here, at no cost to you.

I considered going to the pharmacy to ask if they carry the brand name (they won’t), and if they are allowed to advertise for an experimental product. But since I was not in a particularly pleasant mood, I decided maybe it wasn’t a wise timing. However, I did comment to the young cashier that, given that the fully v and boosted (former vice) president had gotten sick, it seemed strange the store continues advertising something that clearly doesn’t work.

No idea the employee’s stance re the shots, but figured I may as well say SOMETHING.

Adrienne Marshall, executive director of the newly created Election and Government Mail Services, said that it will oversee “election mail strike teams” in local communities to deal with possible problems.

“We are fully committed to the secure and timely delivery of the nation’s election mail,” she told media outlets on July 27.” - Epoch Times

They are talking about $5 BILLION, not million.

Kudos to the Epoch Times for reporting this:

Several months ago, the Biden administration requested $5 billion to support the USPS’s mail-in voting operations over the next 10 years.

“This proposal expands on the essential public services that the Postal Service provides to the American people and will also help to relieve budget strain on local election offices across the country,” the administration wrote in March.

It also includes policies to make “official ballot materials free to mail and reducing the cost of other election-related mail for jurisdictions and voters” while “enhancing the Postal Service’s ability to securely and expeditiously deliver and receive mail in underserved areas,” the White House said at the time.

The USPS claimed it delivered 97.9 percent of ballots from voters to election officials within three days, and 99.89 percent of ballots were delivered within seven days, during the 2020 election.

The Postal Service is sending guidance letters to election officials in each state and territory this week. So far, nearly 40 million ballots have been mailed to and from voters during primary elections.
