Today is the en banc hearing for the Feds 4 Medical Freedom (F4MF). The full panel of judges in the 5th Circuit Federal Court of Appeals will hear arguments in our suit against the mandates.

Carrie's avatar

Praying for a win for F4MF and all federal employees!

VeryVer's avatar

Goodness -- a lot is riding on those judges. The President just can't order people to get medical treatments, not any treatments for any reasons, it's just wrong. Although if I got fired for never getting the shot, it would be a relief somewhat as I hate it and then at least I'd have a good reason for looking for a new job --- and I'd probably get a class action settlement someday....

Carrie's avatar

I don't see how they can mandate something that doesn't prevent infection or stop transmission. The shot is very ineffective and can cause more harm than good. How the heck can we be forced to take it?!

Carlos Santiago's avatar

Even if it did work 100%, mandates would still be wrong.

N Springer's avatar

One of the judges called it a treatment, not a vaccine. So I think that’s a good indication how things might go!

CMCM's avatar

Yeah...treatment with an extinct virus.

VeryVer's avatar

Yeah I know -- it's insane. Even more so now. If it actually worked AND the disease was so deadly that we needed a vaccine, then they wouldn't have to mandate anything -- people would want the shots and the unvaccinated would succumb to the disease. But even then I'm not in favor of governments ordering medical treatments. But at this point the DOJ is only really arguing to preserve the Presidents RIGHT to order us around.

Carrie's avatar

Right. Hopefully, we preserve our right to decide for ourselves.

aj's avatar

forced/coerced to take experimental treatments, not vaccines

Benjamin Two N's's avatar

Putin is actually a bad guy though.

Trump isn't.

Time to smash the mandates.

Michael Miller's avatar

You might benefit from viewing “The Putin interviews” film by Oliver Stone. This will expose you to Putin from his own mouth as opposed to US propaganda. I was surprised and impressed. I judge him to be a serious statesman above the caliber of most US politicians.

John Galt?'s avatar

Putin's comments about our transgender fanaticism were all I needed to hear. Imagine being unencumbered by political correctness and progressive orthodoxy? I am by no means a fan-boy, and he's probably a really evil guy. But he's not chasing bullshit political narratives, and for that he gets a hat tip from yours truly.

uselesseater's avatar

And also Oliver Stone's doc Ukraine on Fire which shows us politicians and Cia stoking the fires over there

aj's avatar

Paul Craig Roberts (.org) 9-11 article had a closing salvo at our presence in Ukraine: =][- “we have to save the liberty of Ukraine from Putin,” by which is really meant is that “we must save the Biden family’s and the Democrats’ money laundering operation in Ukraine.”

Benjamin Two N's's avatar

Oliver stone's documentary was pure, unadulterated filth.

For one, he puts a lot of his personal opinions into the film. It's not a documentary, it's a hit piece.

It denies that the Ukrainians have their own history. It doesn't cover the genocide russia committed against the Ukrainians because of the failures of Communism. There's a word for it-Holodmor. Murder by hunger.

It ignores the awful history russia has in Eastern europe and denies the distinct people their own right to govern their own affairs.

People complain here about Biden forcing vaccine mandates yet praise putin who was part of a system that stole peoples' food and starved them to death. And threw them in jail for having different opinions and still does today. And ran a gulag system which saw millions die.

I didn't quite finish it, needless to say.

Benjamin Two N's's avatar

Oliver stones work is trash.

Michael Miller's avatar

Oliver Stone, a multi Academy Award recipient, has created many fine and informative films, including Platoon, Born on the 4th of July, Wall Street, JFK, JFK Revisited, The Putin Interviews, Ukraine on Fire, just to name a few.

Benjamin Two N's's avatar

Ukraine on fire was hot, kremlin garbage.

Lew's avatar

Thanks for that link!

AngelaK's avatar

He is a brilliant statesman if you listen to him speak, on end, and off the cuff, without the stuttering of western politicians who speak but out of both sides of their mouth, and without really saying anything, lest they betray their WEF masters.

With Putin you clearly hear and comprehend. With western politicians you are generally left scratching your head.

Welcome to the New liberal one world order (of the west) folks!

Benjamin Two N's's avatar

Putin is an oligarch. He isn't a "brilliant statesman". he's an old school KGB communist. Congrats on buying into the koolaid. Why is he a multi billionaire?

A guy who made his living as a secret police for a communist state is not my idea of a good guy.

Knocking off dissidents, attacking our allies, and aligning with a lot of bad folks in the world places him as a despot and tyrant, not a good guy at all.

Richard Hathcock's avatar

Hey Benjaminn, "Knocking off dissidents, attacking our allies, and aligning with a lot of bad folks in the world places him as a despot and tyrant, not a good guy at all." Sounds like the job description for OUR National Security Bureaus/Agencies.

Benjamin Two N's's avatar

A russian and an American are arguing about who is more free when the American goes "I can go to the White house and yell "To hell with Ronald reagan"!. You can't do that in Moscow, he says.

The Russian, not to be outdone, goes out to the Kremlin and yells "To hell with Ronald Reagan!".

I can criticize Biden all day long on facebook, twitter, etc. Try doing that to Putin in Russia.

Richard Hathcock's avatar

uhh, people have been in jail for over a year for supporting Trump. incarcerated by their own government. #PayAttention

Politico Phil's avatar

Really really bad folks! And Zelensky is such a stalwart USG ally. Where would we be without such a good Nazi? Gee, maybe we wouldn't even be in a war...just saying.

Cheryl Schroeder's avatar

Open to critical thinking? Perhaps we’ve been under the spell of the MSM for years & part of that was hating Russia. We have been waging wars for years not for democracy but for control. Putting in place leaders that do our bidding & blessing those countries dry. Do some research on Hati & what the Bushes & Clinton’s did to them. I don’t think Russia is any different- and Zelensky is a US puppet clown (check out videos of his comedy act) corruption is everywhere

Politico Phil's avatar

Ah, the voice of reason. I enjoy the humor but this is much better. Well said.

Benjamin Two N's's avatar

Zelensky told Biden on day one of the Russian invasion he wasn't leaving. Puppets don't do that.

If we had someone who stuck up for American like he does for his Country we'd be a lot better off.

Boze's avatar

They are all vying for power, so let's hold them ALL at a distance -- admiration is not what any of them deserve. Putin doesn't put up with the political correctness because it is not currently a method of undermining his society like it is to ours. What we have with our Western "leaders" is a choking surplus of hypocrisy and incompetence, which breeds cynicism and inertia in the people. We either rise above it and take back our People Power or lose it to scum.

Benjamin Two N's's avatar

Putin tolerates a lot of corruption because he directly profits off it. His net worth is somewhere around 200 billion. And it shows.

Russian forces have been unsuccessful in trying to defeat Ukraine. A small, poor nation on their border. It’s embarrassing.

They’ve lost hundreds of billions of dollars in equipment, tanks, APCs, weapons, etc. for little gain.

Queen Hotchibobo's avatar

Tell that to Jeffrey Epstein or any of the January 6 protesters.

John Galt?'s avatar

If he needs a job, there's a position in the IRS that he ideally suited to fill. We clearly need more despotic dissident neutralizing bad guys in our government.

Benjamin Two N's's avatar

A KGB trained Putin would make our lives miserable.

He would collaborate and ally with them.

Johnny-O's avatar

But your benevolent leader Trump, IS a good guy! Amiright!?!? Told his good little sheeple to go get the vaccine. Remember him getting booed at a rally about this long long after the dangers of the shots were known. But yeah, keep drinking that koolaid you keep talking about.

Benjamin Two N's's avatar

And he never made anyone take it. That's what this entire blog is about. He never mandated anyone. He encouraged it, sure. But never forced someone under pain of losing their job to do it.

Johnny-O's avatar

So there are only 2 possible conclusions:

Trump was duped

or

Trump was in on it.

Either one shows he's either an idiot or evil. Take your pick.

I haven't read a lot of YH stuff, but the stuff I have read is pretty scary. Seems to me that at the core of his philosophy is the concept of the mind as a type of computer - nothing more, nothing less. It is a computer that can be programmed, and every decision that is made is the result of "lines of code". He seems to make no room for conscience or free will. From what I know, he want nearly total dependence on a state and its institutions - seemingly without realizing that those organizations are made of people - unless you can program minds, then those people simply become controllable computers.

I interpret his warnings as more of "if you resist, it will be bad" than "it is bad so you should resist".

Politico Phil's avatar

Harari has my nomination for "The Devil Walking on the Earth"

Margaret Anna Alice's avatar

I’ll be curious what you think of my analysis in Part 3. After watching *far* too many clips of Harari while working on that series, I discovered many of his clips had been taken out of context, and his sinister words about a dystopian totalitarian nightmare were actually warnings rather than recommendations—if you take his statements at face value. That said, he still naïvely believes we should forge ahead with total biosurveillance and thinks global organizations (gee, like the WHO and the WEF) can be used to control this force for good 🤣🤣🤣

Dr Linda's avatar

Right? Considering the current mRNA injections are accomplishing why a new one?

Annie's avatar

People aren't as fearful over covid. Cancer is another thing. If you believe the moon shot narrative, there is no hope for you. (I don't mean you personally)

SadieJay's avatar

Shots to cause the cancer and shots to experiment on the cancer to get rid of it. Cause and Effect approach to healthcare.

Jennifer Beebe's avatar

Absolutely correct! Just another Brandon lie but bless his heart he doesn’t have a clue! 🤪

TeaDrinker86's avatar

So you think maybe that was the plan all along? Increase cancer rates by 50% so you can then hqve a legacy for decreasing cancer rates by 50%?

Jeff C's avatar

Anyone else notice Biden's cancer moonshot tweet has a goal to "turn more cancers from death sentences into chronic conditions people can live with"?

What kind of a goal is that, how about freaking curing them? The only people that welcome "chronic conditions" are the medical industry and pharma as it's their bread and butter.

Sara A's avatar

I had to read that bullet twice and then check the posting source bc I thought it was satire. Normalizes the huge number of chronic illness that’s ballooned with our vaccine schedule.

Freebird's avatar

Yep, anyone with half a brain knows by now that it’s never been a goal of the medical industry and pharma to “cure” cancer. Is anyone still foolish enough to believe that garbage? I suppose so, because they still have big fund raisers. The “Pink” campaign of several years ago was the absolute height of stupidity. Everything from Pro football teams shoes to toilet paper wrapping was turned pink. I always wonder if anyone calculated the cost of all that idiocy - millions of dollars which could have been used for research if anyone had any sense at all. I still love Rush Limbaugh’s terminology for that…”symbolism over substance”. Lets do a collective “feel good” campaign that’s a total waste of time, money and effort…but they feel so good about doing something completely ludicrous!

So it’s nothing new, except that they are steering the narrative from cure to chronic.

CraigN's avatar

”symbolism over substance” Also recently known as 'virtue signaling'.

Genevieve's avatar

Exactly right, Freebird! Most of the breast cancer survivors I know hate the "Pink" campaign. They say it does nothing to actually help women with cancer.

CuiBono?'s avatar

Count me as one🙋🏻‍♀️. Thanks for a great comment!

Michelle's avatar

They are still doing the pink crap.... breast cancer research has received more money than any other cancer, while they push the mammograms that crush and irradiate breast tissue (causing cancer), when they could use thermal imaging instead.

Freebird's avatar

You are so right! Mammograms are part of the scam. I quit having them long ago and periodically have a thermal image done. Of course insurance doesn't pay for it, but it's not an outrageous cost.

RunningLogic's avatar

That seems to be the entire platform of the Democrat party, it’s all about what they say and promise and not about what they do or results.

Annie's avatar

I don't believe them. They still want to reduce worldwide population by a huge amount. This is a bait and switch. Cancer kills but our moon shots will turn death sentence to a shorter life chronic illness sentence. Emphasis on shorter lifespan. Much much shorter lifespan.

Politico Phil's avatar

And BigPharma has a never ending supply of profits selling drugs for chronic conditions everyone now has. Welcome to the Matrix.

Dr Linda's avatar

So cancer might not kill you but the chronic conditions and the adverse side effects from the multitude of drugs will. What’s going to happen to the drugs known to cause cancer? This is getting very complex.

SadieJay's avatar

California is losing it's mind, thinking about all the new labels that will have to be printed on stuff.

Crixcyon's avatar

That's exactly right. Big pharma never met a cure it could live with.

Copernicus's avatar

How about preventing them in the first place? That would be even better.

Annie's avatar

To prevent them you have to avoid msm medical community and big pharma. That does them no good. And it might have people living longer happier and healthier lives. Shock and horror to big harma.

RunningLogic's avatar

Yes and the “supportive experience” bs part too 🙄 WTH is that supposed to even mean??

Peace's avatar

that caught my attention! Are cancer patients feeling unsupported?

Remi Steele's avatar

There's no profit in dead people, but there's lots of profit in sick people. At least 10% for the Corn-Pop-Pedo-Pete-Big-Guy.

GoodGrief-239's avatar

Well actually i think it’s good to move away from the “war on cancer” theme which has meant kill the cancer at any cost…even the cost of the human life. The amount of people that chemo kills is egregious and yet it’s attributed to dying of cancer.

As long as the cancer is managed and not shutting off organ function, it can be managed and kept in check by supporting the immune system and the body’s terrain.

Of course that’s not what the President is speaking of…for government it’s more drugs that cause other additional problems.

But apart from that, I do think we need to move away from the killing cancer at any cost theme.

Julia's avatar

It sounds like an excuse for making healthy people sick while brainwashing them with fearmongering. You're sick but you could've died without the Moonshot!

Oh, and the border and all those illegals? I heard this morning that they are blaming Trump. Does anyone believe this hooey? And...the propaganda comes out every day...all day long. What chance does mere mortal man have against the power of The Ring? There are more Orcs than Men at this stage in the story.

Levans's avatar

So let me guess, if you refuse the " cancer shot" , insurance won't cover you if you get cancer? I wouldn't doubt it. Insurance is a scam anyway . All in bed with CMS and big pharma anyway, they get away with not paying for even basic claims . From medical to home to car insurance, they randomly set narrow parameters that are very difficult to stay within and then cancel you if they decide you've made too many claims . It's robbery at this point.

Annie's avatar

If you stay away from msm medical community and big pharma your risk of cancer drops dramatically. So don't get the shots and live joyfully 🙂

JW's avatar

But...not with too much joy or that will give you cancer.

Annie's avatar

Or cause a heart attack. 😉😄

RandiG's avatar

I’m sorry, but this is factually not true. I’ve been in insurance for over 30 years, working for many large insurance companies including Lloyd’s Syndicates. Claims get paid.

As a user of health insurance, it is up to the insured(us) to know the policy coverage and work it. I will not say working with health insurers is easy, but they pay basic claims and can’t cancel you for excessive claims. Maybe you’re thinking of auto or homeowners insurance.

Insurance is not a scam, but if you don’t know, for example, that your homeowners insurance DOES NOT cover flood and you think it does, then you might believe it’s a scam.

Caveat emptor.

CraigN's avatar

I would concur. Until recently I worked 25+ years for a health insurance company in a state where up until recently we had to be a not for profit organization to do business in that state. Our margin was always in the 3% range, that had to cover all our expenses i.e. payroll, benefits, rent, etc.. As a not for profit you were not allowed to make a 'profit'. If there was a profit we would typically pour that into our state required reserves to bring that to a higher level. The ACA and some poor decisions almost ended our business and our 'owners' had to infuse some capital to keep us afloat. A few years down the road and our 'owners', a provider network, almost went broke due to C19 and had to sell us to a larger insurer to make payroll. Not saying that the health insurance industry doesn't have it's problems but like most insurance purchasers everyone is looking for the lowest cost and in the end you get what you pay for which in turn wipes out the competition so you have a few big insurers. As with government and in this case insurers, you get what you deserve.

Politico Phil's avatar

Good point. When I selected my homeowners insurance (I live in FL on the coast), I told my agent I didn't want the lowest cost. I wanted the company that had the best reputation for paying on claims. After Cat5 Michael hit me, I called the company and they had already started my claim along with all the other policy holders they had in the area. Got my house fixed and they paid the claim lickysplit. A friend of mine had bought the lowest cost policy he could find which will not be named but they are not very progressive. He is still fighting with the company to get his house claim paid. You get what you pay for.

CraigN's avatar

I have all my insurance with a company that 'encompasses' all my needs and they are owned by a larger company that has a 'good hand' in their business. When I had tornado damage a few years ago the adjuster was prompt and very fair, I ended up getting the work done for less than the claim payment, I told that adjuster how happy I had been over the years with multiple claims and he said how happy he was working for them but, the owning company was not so much. My insurance agent is a friend that always is looking out for me so I get good rates with a stellar, IMHO, insurance company.

I just had a hip replacement after an accident. I’m pretty glad I have health insurance. For this stuff I find it well needed and managed. For the rest--I see a functional med doc that insurance doesn’t pay for. Better results there.

LostGen's avatar

For surgeries, I always recommend the surgery center of Oklahoma. They have transparent, upfront, menu pricing for all surgeries. Much better than insurance! https://surgerycenterok.com

I did mention car and home so yes you are right . I have two daughters , one whose car insurance cancelled for hitting someone in the back no injuries , and the other who very recently had homeowners cancel citing too many claims . One of the claims was when her ex-husband got his car broken into and then she had to claim a storm damage to her home she had JUST got put into her name and everything switched over after the divorce a big storm came with damage to her house. Yes they paid the measly 2500.00 then cancelled her. Single mom trying to keep it together and they did that. So whatever say what you want .

Amen, amen I say to you.

Were are already in a cancer moon shot started by Nixon (the war on cancer) about 50 years ago. The results have been dismal. This new moon shot is another giant money helicopter that will dump billions of dollars into big pharma coffers once again with little or no progress. Big pharma drugs are not the answer for curing cancer. There are numerous natural cures for many cancers that have been buried by big pharma or censored by the mainstream medical community.

RunningLogic's avatar

Kind of like the war on poverty 🙄 They keep moaning about the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer so apparently all of their government programs did nothing and even likely contributed to the situation but what do they want to remedy it—right, MORE government programs! New and improved! 🙄🙄🙄

Crixcyon's avatar

You are right on the money.

Politico Phil's avatar

There will never be any real advances in science as long as all the financing is provided by the Gov't, meaning controlled by the Gov't. Just more money down the rat hole to rig big profits for BigPharma etc

Craig's avatar

A couple thoughts.

First, the cancer moonshot will take twenty five years? I'm sure there's a way to speed it up by waving billions of dollars under the noses of big pharma. Maybe we can reduce regulatory oversight too. It'll need a catchy name too--like Mission Quick Pace or Rapid Paced Efforting. I dunno.

Second, what has amazed me over the past couple years is how the executive branch at seemingly every level of government can declare an emergency and then renew that emergency ad infinitum. Why isn't the executive-level state of emergency limited to something like 30 days? After that, the legislature would be required to renew it. That seems to make a lot more sense and is consistent with the separation of powers that is fundamental to our republic.

T Kosse's avatar

In Illinois, the executive-level state of emergency is limited to 30 days. So Pritzker has renewed it something like 30 times. What's to stop him? Nothing. The Illinois legislature are toadies.

RunningLogic's avatar

Same in supposedly red Indiana, such total BS!!! I don’t know how many times the RINO Holcomb renewed it but it was ridiculous 😡

Sunnydaze's avatar

Same BS in Oregon. There is no end to their tyranny BS. Nobody stops them because the legislature is up the governors arse.

RunningLogic's avatar

I’d expect that from Oregon but hoped for better from Indiana 😕 In both cases it is frustrating, regardless.

Fre'd Bennett, MAHA's avatar

Same everywhere. Where is the GOP outrage over this week’s latest round of FBI raids on Trump supporters.

The silence from our stalwart conservatives in Congress is deafening.

Fre'd Bennett, MAHA's avatar

Just as it has been all along for the poor ppl held in solitary confinement for trespassing charges on J6.

We’re being scammed ppl. WAKE.THE.HELL.UP

that's what we did in PA. it took a state constitutional amendment vote tho.

Yesterday must’ve been the new Global Social Media Propaganda Day. I saw that Peter McCullough’s accounts were attacked by tens of thousands of bots claiming the accounts were fake.

The cancer talk is ludicrous for anyone who cares to pause for half a minute. First, why no talk of prevention. That’s infinitely better than cure. Lots of things we could do to prevent but most of those would require major gov backpedaling re dietary advice, vitamin D exposure, weather manipulation, 5G towers, and injectable products of various sorts including but not limited to the current One.

Second, plenty of cures available for many via well-formulated ketogenic diet (Thomas Seyfried, if I recall correctly), repurposed meds including the horse one, and other natural remedies.

Third, if the mR N A platform is so safe and effective, why do we have to wait for 25 years for this amazing development? Can’t we skip the animal trials and reproductive toxicity trials and long term safety studies and just get on with the thing? I mean, for the people who actually HAVE cancer, it kind of feels like an EMERGENCY.

Hopefully his 25 year timeline allows enough time for this to become unfounded and just go away.

Government needs to recuse itself from all involvement in such personal decisions as our health and well being. Plus, it’s not in the Constitution anyway. It’s all illegal.

JustANobody's avatar

I vote this comment above, number one. The most thoughtful well put statement I've seen yet.

Copernicus's avatar

I admit that actually the idea of actually choosing to opt for the alternative cancer treatments does feel rather, uh, well, kind of like choosing something crazy. I hope I never have to.

I guess I need to actually read some of the books about this. Maybe it isn’t any more “crazy” than foregoing the current recommended standard of care for certain respiratory infections. It’s just that I have never seen it (cancer treatment) for what it really is.

I mean, a friend thinks we are playing with death to skip the injections and to have foregone pax when we had our recent bout. But, we all did fine. And, thankfully, so did she, despite her quadrupled injection status and use of pax with its rebound. Maybe, just maybe, MORE people would survive cancer than currently do, if the treatments were different. Just like more people survive Plague with alternative treatments? Intriguing to think about.

SadieJay's avatar

What they are essentially doing is swabbing our arms with disinfectant while we are lying in that little room in the prison, getting ready for the lethal injection. What?? You are worried about me getting an INFECTION? I. Can't. Stand. It.

Peace's avatar

Great point - why not rush through the mRna for cancer? another warp speed? since cancer is obviously a top killer. I'm not actually in favor of this, since the blowback may come our way with "incentives" to take the thing (and "disincentives" if ya don't).

Copernicus's avatar

Oh, absolutely I am not in favor of the concept of the shots or of rushing! It seems like a really bad idea.

Just pointing out the inconsistent standards and expectations.

Jack Bergeron's avatar

Neither the federal legislature (Congress) nor the executive branch of our federal government have the power to legislate, regulate or order health mandates. The United States Constitution granted and enumerated very limited powers to the federal government. Health and education, along with many other subjects, are not within the purview of the feds.

Copernicus's avatar

It’s amazing, when one reads the actual Constitution, what is NOT in there. Our government need a big fat liposuction surgery and fast.

RunningLogic's avatar

Yes. All of those agencies need to go.

Politico Phil's avatar

But they plan on getting rid of the Constitution so they're not worried about it. And our court system has been neutralized. And Congress sleeps while cashing the kickbacks.

Jack Bergeron's avatar

Anyone conspiring to get rid of the Constitution is a traitor.

Fre'd Bennett, MAHA's avatar

There’s no need for getting rid of it when you can simply ignore it. That’s what’s been done for almost a century now.

JMH75's avatar

Not sure if they ran the President's Moon Shot speech nation wide, but here in Boston they did. So i listened. And as a former member of the Democratic Party all I can say is and (I cannot say it loud enough) NO!!!!!! The only way to curb and/or cure cancer is PREVENTION! Hey Scientists and researches, here's an idea, how about you STOP POISIONING THE ENTIRE POPULATION with GLYPHOSATE??!! He has the audacity to tell me that the "successful" mRNA shots could be used to stop cancer? Insanity at it's finest. He also referenced the HPV jab, newsflash that has a very high injury rate and is bad news, jump over to the highwire to learn more about that one. And the stupidest thing I heard was that "we can turn cancers into chronic diseases people can live with." Are you freaking kidding me? Just more drugs to manage your condition. If the government really cared about "HEALTH", they would run studies on all kinds of environmental and lifestyle factors that might be contributing to the cancer epidemic. They would want to get to the route of your problem and not just continue to make you pill dependent. (Just like they would have told you to take vitamin D and zinc and exercise during the "pandemic scare".) Doctors don't go to medical school to study health, it's the study of medicine. And as we all know, all the agencies that are supposed to look out for us are funded by your favorite sponsors "PFizer & Friends". Let's just take the Moon Shot money and flush it down the toilet, then we can at least be entertained by watching the swirl of every cent descend into the infinite black shit hole... because let's be honest, that's exactly where it's going.

RunningLogic's avatar

And this also gives them the opportunity to add and supposedly justify more government agencies and more overpaid bureaucrats meddling in people’s lives 😡

Truthseeker's avatar

So I am thrilled on the surface by that study about vaccine mandates for college age kids

However

here’s a question for all the smart people on this substack

WHY would the Wellcome Trust fund that study?

These are bill gates, big evil pharma people…

What’s the angle?

Copernicus's avatar

I too wondered why Wellcome Trust would have permitted that study with those findings. 🤔. The association smells fishy.

William's avatar

From the abstract: "Funding: This paper was partially supported by a Wellcome Trust Society and Ethics fellowship awarded to KB (10892/B/15/ZE) and Wellcome Trust grants to EJ (216355, 221719, 203132). Competing Interest Statement: We do not have any competing interests to declare."

I think this is fairly benign funding statement.

1. The paper has nine co-authors. only _2_ of them (KB, 1st author; and EJ, 3rd author) are declaring support from the Wellcome Trust.

2. KB has a fellowship in "Society and Ethics". Fellowships typically allow wide latitude in topics the awardees can study, and this topic would certainly fall under the "Ethics" heading. (Finding the exact grants is not easy on the Wellcome site, but I may have more time to tackle this tonight).

The bottom line is that this study was not 'funded' along a traditional timeline.

Regarding the peer-review process, I could say a lot about that. My quick read for now is that the authors published to SSRN (a well-known pre-publication server) because both (a) they expect the review process to be challenging, and (b) they want to get this information out as soon as possible. I'm sure they expect it to be picked apart by their colleagues, but I'm encouraged by their boldness.

Andrea's avatar

I noticed that too. Interesting.

I wonder when our astute leaders are going to stop the "fully vaccinated" crap for foreign nationals trying to come here, legally even. I just got back from Panama and was surprised at how many people are still walking down the roads, streets, etc. wearing mask. Our country has really set a hell of an example. I wonder if it is possible to do a citizens arrest on politicians for treason and dereliction of duty. HA.

Genevieve's avatar

It's even weirder that tons of people still wearing masks in the streets in Florida, at least where I live!

Tory's avatar

Same… but, they come from NY, Ct, etc. habit. Masking.. woman jogging 90degees plus Fl. Humidity AND enormous scarf used as a MASK … flapping in the breeze. Geez.

Respect the sport, or perhaps lack of oxygen works for some folks.

Genevieve's avatar

Tory, yes, I agree. Most of the new people moving into my area of Florida are moving from the NE area of the U.S. I think they probably make up most of the ultra masking crowd.
