Next band I form WILL be called that! Thanks for pointing it out!

A few years ago, my drummer quit two weeks before a gig, stomping out of my house (where we were rehearsing) and flipping us all the bird. He called me "control freak" as his parting shot, probably because, as band leader (owner of the drums he was playing, owner of the rehearsal space, owner of the PA, and the guy who started the band), I had the temerity to ask him to improve his meter. We'd start a song at one tempo and end at a much faster tempo.

Anyway, at that point I was playing rhythm guitar and since we already had another guitar player, I stepped over to the drums and relearned all our songs in two weeks on that instrument. For the gig, our band name was "Control Freak". I have reason to believe the drummer was out in the audience at that gig - I can only hope he was there when the name was announced...

I actually started the band as the drummer, but then we lost our bass player, so I moved to that position, and invited a buddy of mine to play drums in my stead. Then our guitar player at the time brought in a *real* bass player, so I moved to guitar, since the drum spot was already filled. After 6 months or so playing guitar, our singer brought another guitarist in. I was trying to figure out how to adapt my guitar into a MIDI instrument so I could play some parts normally played by keyboardists (we never did find a keyboard player) when the drummer quit. At that point it had been years since I had played drums, and our set list had expanded quite a bit. But I knew the song structures, so it wasn't a huge leap to switch back to drums. Just had to bring back the muscle memory. I played drums until Covid and a fire ended the band in 2021.

Expand full comment
Help Needed in KS's avatar

Wow, drums, bass, guitar, AND MIDI !! You're a virtuoso ! I've always wondered how easy it is to switch between the bass and guitar, 4 vs 6 strings and all. As for me, I couldn't make wind chimes sound good.

"a fire ended the band in 2021". That could be taken in 2 ways; one rather benign, the other very dark.

I began playing drums at 10, and took up guitar at 14. There was always a piano in the house. I built a modular synthesizer when I was 16. I grew up on rock, synth music, New Wave and Punk.

Bass and guitar share similar tunings - it's a difference between technique and understanding how bass can recontextualize chords played on other instruments. I'm still learning all the time...

I think meter is something you either naturally have or don't have. Like asking someone who's tone deaf to improve hitting the right note. Not going to happen. Probably more possible with a drummer/meter, but it'll always be a struggle...

Expand full comment
Doug's avatar

Maybe. I think meter is something you can work on. Metronomes help.

That drummer would get "panicky" during a fill, and when he came back into the main groove, he'd be playing just a little faster. Sometimes I'd look over at him and give him the palm-pushing-down gesture - because it would be difficult to play some of the riffs at those increased speed.

NewsMax this morning was wondering if conviction will help or hurt Trump, help or hurt LGB-FJB. IMO, whether people love Trump or hate him, it’s already a forgone conclusion - because of a corrupt judge & legal system, a totally biased jury & because it’s NY - he’ll be found guilty of at least some of the charges. So that’s already baked into the “verdict” & isn’t going to hurt him & will surely help.

Wow. I love everyone here, but sometimes I think there is some naiveté.

Why do you think there are up to 50 million immigrants in America and even more in Europe? Why have people like Trump and Musk been warning about attacks on American soil by foreigners? How many Chinese Nationals of military age came across the border after stopping at their own private camp at the Darien Gap in Panama? Why have UN troops grown exponentially in the past four years? Are some of those troops already here, inside the U.S.?

Why have residents on the Southside of Chicago been displaced from their homes by landlords who then let immigrants move in by the thousands? Why are these dispossesed blacks left out in the cold, while the immigrants are fed and housed and coddled? You think the Deep State really cares about Americans? Chicago is a ticking time bomb as immigrants and poor blacks are ready to explode against one another.

Civil war, or immigrant war—it doesn’t matter. All perpetrated by the same people who are in control. Maybe the Civil War will start if and when they pull their lockdown trick out of the bag when the first 1,000 Americans die of bird flu. Maybe the immigrant soldiers, rumored to be training in the West, will be enforcing those lockdowns with rogue UN soldiers.

The army the Deep State has amassed is huge. We saw some of these enforcers at the Canadian truck strike—just a little show and tell by the Deep State.

I doubt the war will be fought American against American. I’m thinking it will be fought by a united America against our rogue government, immigrants, and other troops emanating from the UN, the CIA, etc.

Folks, we need to be reading and watching the thoughts and ideas of people in the know—people like rogue journalist Michael Yon who reported from the Darien Gap. Or former border agent JJ Carrell who has been filming in cities all over the country and seeing the truth.

Please be informed about what’s happening in our country.

Agree, and what they are doing is reprehensible. However, in their hysteria they really haven't thought this through. Most people know it's a show trial and if convicted it just makes Trump stronger. The fact that the establishment hates him enough to jail him is a strength not a weakness.

Beria had absolute power, he could do anything and people had to accept it, they couldn't vote him and Stalin out. As corrupt as the elections are, the Dems don't have absolute power (yet). The GOP may need to win by 5% or more to prevent it being stolen, but there is a margin that's greater than the Dems ability to commit election fraud.

If an honest election were held today Trump would probably win by at least five points. Him campaigning from jail likely increases that by several more points. I don't wont to see that of course but it would be powerful.

I never watch the news but it was on yesterday when I was with my son in a doctor's waiting room. A ten minute segment on Trump's trial came on with all sorts of media hyperventilating. Everyone in the room ignored it, no one paid it the slightest bit of attention. People know what's going on.

IMO, it's important to be realistic and recognize that there are problems, and be mentally prepared just in case things don't go well. But focusing on all the "insurmountable" problems just leads to anxiety, depression, lack of motivation to do anything useful, and so forth, which is counter-productive. It's written in the Bible, "Don't worry about tomorrow, because each day has enough trouble of its own." -- for those who believe, then believe it when it says that the Lord will provide even in times of trouble. And for those who don't believe, at least remember that a pessimistic attitude makes everybody's life un-fun.

All they are doing with this is making Trump more powerful (Obi Wan style) and opening more people's eyes to the corruption and abuses of the government. And their base of AWFULs are too dumb to see it happening right in front of their eyes, right in their own little debauched 'holy land,' NYC.

Keep in mind: most of those who are newcomers to this idea that the government is corrupt still don't know HOW corrupt and haven't had the "aha" moment where they realize these ruling class, pedophilic clowns are stealing THEIR money to do all of this.

The latest Tucker interview with Jeffrey Sachs is another gem. Sachs has an incredible wealth of experience at the highest levels of diplomacy world wide, and is still active. The most incredible one he recounts was his being in the Kremlin when Gorvbachev stopped by and told him the Soviet Union just dissolved. He pointed to a door and said all of the military heads were in that room and had just agreed. He was the first Westerner to learn of this , The interview starts with the talking heads being played on a loop saying "Russia's unprovoked attack on the Ukraine". The he talks without notes about how for the past 30 years we have been provoking Russia. I learned something new about the Cuban missile crisis. Little known fact that we almost had nuclear war right after JFK and Kruschyev had agreed to stand down. There were 7 Russian subs in the area, and the only one with nuclear tipped torpedos became disabled, and was out of communication with anyone. They decided to surface, and were quickly attacked by our planes. The captain decided that things must have escalated, and ordered a nuclear response. The man who saved the world was the party representative, who countermanded that order. Sachs brought this up to illustrate how tenuous the current situation is now with the cabal continuing to escalate the war in Ukraine to the point where nuclear responses are continually and cavalierly mentioned. I highly recommend this interview.

Yes, the interview with Jeffrey Sacks is a must listen. At the dissolution of the Soviet Union , Russia just wanted to be a “normal”. I had not realized that instead in the US there was a whole neocon framework that went into effect well before 911 – – for the US to be the new British Empire, including isolating and weakening Russia.

Everybody in US leadership has been following this script ever since. But none of us ever got to vote on the script, and they squandered our peace dividend—all the money we could have used to improve our infrastructure and stop our decline in quality of life…

Exactly. RFK explains that, and the Cuban missile crisis beautifully. You may want to vote for Trump, but listening to RFK is like a history lesson as well as a civics lesson. But her college-aged daughter was, in my opinion, abusive to her mother during the riots and basically broke her down to where now that same person has defected to the Left. I think she decided it was easier to acquiesce rather than have to be in conflict with her daughter all the time (I do understand that temptation having political differences with a few of my own adult children).

I know, it is as if it was purposefully disappeared. Klaus the HIdeous has a bust of Lenin in his office. It is so strange to me as we were steeped in Russian history in high school. From an American political perspective, of course, but everyone learned this World History. My mom, who was a community college teacher, snuck bibles and Russian literature into Russia, and when the KGB tossed her room, she went to the first Orthodox church she could find and dropped the Russian bibles into the devout-looking women's laps from behind. They didn't look behind them, but looked up. And she was in her secular humanism phase, but believed deeply in freedom of religion and the freedom to worship. Here's a

poem describing some of what they went through by the great Russian poet Anna Akhmatova, since no one learns poetry any more.

Quite possibly a crimson tide in dark horrific night lies just around the corner in America, much as it came into passage under Soviets, swept in on the tides of revolution. Of this, a life which spanned Tsardom and Soviet repression provides ample contrast.

Anna's son Lev was a Neo-Eurasianist. Nothing much changes. The fickle West always rejects Russia, rejecting that which it will never be able to understand. Irrepressible Russia, neither Asian nor European, always itself ... and Mother/Father Russia, greater than any of its rulers. There is a Russian Soul. It lives in its people.

Thanks for thinking to include Anna today. A very nice treat.

There is a lot of complicated history in between— including that Churchill had to beg for US involvement in World War II, because so much of our oligarchy was tied in with the German (nazi) financial and industrial machine. After the war the United States was instrumental in making Britain pay for lend lease – – by dissolving the exclusive mercantile trade arrangements that benefited only the British empire. Tony Blair was turned out of office for pandering to George Bush. It was an also struggle for the United States to get the Brits to influence the European Union. Their ruling class is still pandering to the EU in terms of international commercial issues.

The five eyes are the only ones we get along with and that speak our language… It’s that simple.. our spooks are arrogant and mostly monolingual. And based on a lot of history, we don’t trust anybody else.

That is not the justify what the five eyes have evidently been pulling on us in the last ten years. The level of coordination of Covid messaging etc. could never have been done via normal diplomatic relations by traditional foreign policy establishments. I think we all underestimate the role of the British in all our issues. And I think that is the psy-op: they try to look like the hapless, bumbling little has-been empire, while they secretly maintain control via diplomacy. Sometimes I wonder if we ever actually split from them or if they just kept loose power over us all this time via espionage and diplomacy. Supposedly there were well-placed British spies in US gov't from its inception. (This idea that Britain is still in control is one of the more unique points I've heard from Tom Luongo and Alex Krainer.)

Anyway, Russia is their war, not ours. Navalny was their asset, not ours. They've always wanted to conquer, split up, and colonize Russia. Putin just told us why in the last few days: it's a huge land mass with few people and tons of natural resources. Europe is a fully saturated, small land mass that's mostly depleted its natural resources. How can an empire resist that sort of temptation? LOL.

They each send a few troops to "show support" and then benefit from every one of them. Similarly, who is it that funds their socialized healthcare Ponzi scheme? That would be the US, again. They cap their prices and we pay the costs for that. Either they are actually in control or the US is really bad at negotiating. But, I guess we're left with the question: who is really in control, the sugar daddy or the gold-digger?

he Yank funded Brit false flg psyop game that tried to pin Russia Collusion on Trump after he was duly elected strongly supports your premise.

After the War for INdependence was win, about athird of the Tory side left the new America for Canada..at least half f those came back after a few short decades. Another third sided with the Yankees... and I suppose one could validly wonder how "loyal" those were. And the other third sort of just got on with living and raising their families.

Interestng to also learn how many Yankees had been playing at neutral for decades in the run up to the War whilst working subtly with and for the Resistance. Case in point: Paul Revere was about forty years old when he had himself rowed across the Back Bay at Boston to ride out and "sound the alarum. When he was sixteen he volunteered to ride out to a remote secret camp well away from Boston to warn a man wanted by the Tories for "insurrection" or some such nonsense.... so he could make himself more scarce before the Brit detachment raided the place searching for him. He almost certainly would have ben "transported" to London for a "trial" and a Necktie Party at the London Bridge. So Paul Revere had been an active rebel for twenty five years prior to his "midnight ride". He also nearly met his end when detained by a Brit patrol in Lexington later that night.... and was VERY brazen to those guards. He and his companion Billy Dawes, and the Patriot Joseph Warren whom they had by "chance" just nearly met a similar fate. But they each managed to take fast action and free themselves from the Brit patrol.Warran is the only one who managed to make it to Concord that night, enabling the good Patriots of that town to prepare for the followin day's "events".

The spirit of liberty had been steadily growing for decades, and it all came to a head between sundown 18th April and dawn on 19th April. Fourteen thousand armed Patriot militia rousted out overnight and moved to defend against the "powder raid " (disarmament raid) launched the afternoon of the 18th.

A few years ago I looked up Bay of Pigs on Wikipedia and it said the Bay of Pigs happened because our military didn’t realize that Cuba was in another time zone so our planes were late. 🏀Bill Walton died on Memorial Day of what has been announced as a “prolonged cancer battle.” From my research, it appears likely he began battling cancer sometime in mid to late 2022 or perhaps more recently in 2023 as a result of the mRNA gene-therapy poison.

· In an LA Times article picked up by Yahoo Sports, Bill Walton used his fame-pulpit to bully people into getting the mRNA injection, 10/23/21: https://sports.yahoo.com/bill-walton-reminds-gameday-viewers-185809004.html “’Fired Washington State coach Nick Rolovich received some unsolicited advice — “Get a vaccination,’ Walton said.”

· From a Mediaite article dated 1/14/22: https://www.mediaite.com/sports/bill-walton-berates-broadcast-partners-anguish-over-empty-basketball-arenas-people-are-dying-of-covid/ “Well are we gonna listen to the doctors? Or not?” Walton said, scoffing at the idea of an arena full of fans. “Isn’t that kinda why we’re in this ongoing program, because people don’t listen to the doctors? Are you part of the problem or the solution?”

· In an April 5, 2022 podcast with Al Franken promoted by this article, https://www.sportscasting.com/bill-walton-opens-up-about-health-and-happiness-during-life-after-basketball/ Walton reflected on his “newfound health.” He was “feeling fantastic today.”

· At a 50th anniversary celebration of their UCLA 1973 National Championship, a former Bruin teammate mentioned, to paraphrase, that he ‘just saw him in 2023 and had no idea he was battling cancer.’

Remember how Hank Aaron was an early vax recipient, and took it publicly to promote update among blacks and the elderly (Aaron was 86, spry, in good health, and on the ball). He then passed away less than two weeks later. Of course none of the news articles mentioned the vax and everyone just pretended that being vax shortly before either never happened or that any link was impossible.

So many of these unfortunate people not only took the vax but were outspoken fanatics about it. I don't think it's just karma (though I don't discount it) but that these fanatics took the boosters. The dose makes the poison, and these people got a lot of poison. Normal people got duped into taken the first one or two, but stopped after that as it was obvious the vax didn't work and made them feel awful too. Recall also how they told us the fact that it made people feel sick was a good thing as "that means it's working".

Even a flatworm turns from pain, but not these people. They literally believed that pain, the body's signal to stop what they are doing, means they should do it more. I'm not an evolutionist but maybe Darwin was onto something in this regard.

RFK got attacked in the media for mentioning that Hank Aaron had recently been jabbed. They claimed that the county coroner had said that it had nothing to do with vaccines. When RFK investigated, he learned that the county coroner(I think maybe it was Fulton County?) had never even handled the body. It was a complete lie of course it was never retracted in the media. More proof that they were terrified that people would associate anyone’s sudden passing from the jab. Poor Hank Aaron innocently thought that he was doing a public service by promoting it.

Several years ago I read about a California oncologist who said she was starting to believe that early detection and treatment were more detrimental than beneficial, because (simplistic summary to just give the gist of her argument) the body took care of early stage cancers by itself oftentimes, and subjecting a person to the effects of radiation or chemo was more damaging in those cases than beneficial. I thought it was an interesting perspective and what made it more compelling was that whole some of her colleagues said they disagreed with her, they also said she was very well respected and didn’t exactly dismiss her view, just said they didn’t see the evidence or weren’t completely persuaded. It wasn’t like they said oh she’s just a crackpot, don’t listen to her.

She is paranoid about sugar and alcohol and shames herself about eating pastries for breakfast on a recent European trip. Mamos every 6 months and is paranoid about any products she puts on her skin, estrogen disruptors, and has an ap to check.

Both of those old drugs are anti-inflammatory and immune modulating, which is important when fighting cancer or any other disease for that matter. The prosecution declares that Trump "falsified financial documents." And what documents did he falsify? Checks! On the checks that were used to pay his lawyer the notation "Legal Expenses" appeared (likely placed there by the person who prepared the check for his signature because is is 100% unlikely that Trump filled in anything buthis signature.

Have you ever seen a chech before? How big is the memo line, 1.5 maybe 2.5 inches, single line? How much detail could you possible put in that line? On my computer screen the words LEGAL EXPENSES takes up more than an inch. How much detail would Trump havehad to put in that space to satisfy the prosecutions quest for full disclosure? Would, "Legal Expenses paying back the money owed to Stormy pursuint to a legally binding NDA, which moneys were fronted by my attorney.", have been sufficient? What entry on the "Memo" line would DA Briggs have used?

But, let's be clear, "Legal Expenses" is always the right memo on a check used to pay "Legal Expenses."

Anita from Tucson - Now In MI's avatar

The person who cut the check testified I think; at any rate, he said they had an older software with a limited drop down box to select what you want to put in the memo line, and he chose ''legal expenses'' and then produced the check... all standard accounting practice, IMO (I have done years of entering checks and transactions into QuickBooks). I wish I could remember where I learned this. Probably The Epoch Times, or one of my other trusted sources that I follow.

Expand full comment

Who looked at the invoices? That is the place for details, not the check. Assume that Cohen could have considered the payments, by him, to Stormy to be expenses. I am sure Cohen regularly rolled other expenses, fees, postage, copying, milage, etc. in his monthly or periodic bills. Where on a standard check is the writer of the check obliged to note any or all of hose expenses? If there is a false accounting, it is likely to be how Cohen reported the proceeds from the check for tax purposes. An act totally within his control, not Trump's.

Expand full comment
WP William's avatar

better to have written "Expenses" only; but Demoncrats always parse wording and re-craft terms definitions and alternate meanings so perhaps "legal expense" merely denotes the receiver of the said payment and is entirely divorced of the intent or fruition of said payment or actual services performed; this information would be entirely on the generator of whatever invoice was produced by the payee to initiate payment by the Trump team. Was it a legit invoice? What receipt was generated after clearance of the check payment?

Especially when the voting is rigged. Remember the democrat who lost a local election by 20 votes in one of the northeast states - I believe New Hampshire - who demanded a hand recount? I don't blame her. 20 is a small number. 3 of the 4 machines matched the recount. Number 4 was found to have added 400 votes to her, so she really lost by 420, not 20. Has anyone fixed the machines? OK, "fixed" is a bad word, because they were "fixed" or she would not have 400 extra votes.

Let me rephrase: I'd bet my house and life on the machines NOT tallying votes correctly. I bet you everything I own the same thing will happen in 2024.

So no, we can't vote our way out of anything.

Weird weather? Maybe that Hunga Tonga volcano spewing all the moisture into the atmosphere had something to do with it.

Maybe geoengineering did, although certainly the volcano could have played a natural role. Watch the skies for yourself - go to Windy.com and look at the satellite. "Smeared" looking clouds all over. Does it look natural? No, most days clouds over the US look bizarre compared to the rest of the world, especially in countries that are not as "developed" as the US. Actually, I think the US is quickly de-evolving.

Meanwhile in Texas, Dade Phelan won his runoff election by a slim majority, something like 300 votes, leaving this reprehensible RINO in the Texas house. This doesn’t bode well for national election outcomes. Folks, we need to pray hard for a miracle.

Yep. Too many repubs stayed home and didn't vote out drunk democrat loving Phelan. As usual. We're often our own worst enemy.

However, yesterday's Texas run off elections wasn't a total loss. I read 9 out of 13 rino incumbents lost their seats.

I think each one of us can make a miracle when we choose not to comply with any sick mandates anyone makes. WE have to stand up. I'm not saying the Creator can't do whatever the Creator wants to do, but we the people need to stand up.

It was always the enlisted who were hammered if they didn't meet weight standards.

It was the kiss of death to be put on the "fat boy" list.

But, I often saw different standards for the fat officers.

I knew a couple of enlisted folks kicked out of the military for not meeting weight standards. And if you compare those folks to the average American of the same age, they were not overweight.

This brought to mind a patient we had at the Endo Clinic at FAMC (Fitzsimons Army Medical Center, before it was BRAC-ed) in Aurora, CO. He was from Ft. Riley and had not been able to lose weight, had continued to gain weight even after drastically cutting his diet down to 1000 calories/day, and spending 2-3 hours after work in the gym working out. He was harassed, belittled, forced to wear a maternity uniform when he no longer fit into even the largest male BDUs, and threatened with a dishonorable discharge (for disobeying orders to lose weight).

One of our Endo docs visited Ft. Riley on a monthly basis and happened to be on call in the sick bay when this young sergeant came in. Dr. A took a complete Hx, told the Sgt. he wanted him to come to FAMC and get a complete work-up, got in touch with whomever in Sgt. W's chain of command and got the ball moving.

Long story short, he was diagnosed with a Pituitary Adenoma - poor guy, there was absolutely no way he was going to lose weight with that going on! He had surgery to remove the tumor, but complications forced his medical discharge anyway. He was a great guy; got to know he and his wife while he was at our clinic. It was a shame the final outcome, but, as he told me, "at least I know I am not crazy!"
