I have stopped reading some of my covid related substacks.. to stay sane. It’s clear what happened and what’s going on, and hard to do much about it. Yet I do want to stay informed. What to do? C&C is a lightning bolt of lightness and humor on a dark and stormy night. Thank you, Jeff! You have me snarfing just about every morning. And today just nails it. Cheers to you.

... Covidians... people who identify as deer... 😂😂😂 Jeff's sharing is medicine for the body, mind, heart & soul!

Expand full comment

Amen! Same. Lots of hardworking folks out there, and it's good stuff, but I already KNOW this was all a sham. I used to meticulously catalog all kinds of data points and use them in arguments with sheep friends and family to try to convince them but I am DONE. Cut most of them out of my life, or greatly reduced interactions. But I NEVER miss C&C!!

I made a random comment on a local group earlier this week after a poster noted that she was in HC and cases were rising fast and concern for blah blah blah...I just commented, So, do you trust the tests? For 2+ years EVERYTHING was covid. Oh my gosh, she lit into me with a rant that I thought had died in 2021. All the virtue signaling....'I was on the front lines'....'watched people say goodbye to loved ones on an ipad'....'I have multiple science degrees'....'people like you who deny science are making us unsafe'. In my previous and dumber days I would have tried to take her on, hitting her with studies, links, facts. I just shrugged and kept scrolling.

Expand full comment

Ugh what a tool that person is 🙄 And saying goodbye on the iPad???? Whose fault was that??? Just the ridiculous panicked hysterics who wouldn’t let people be with their loved ones!!! 🤬

And yes, I never miss C&C (or the comments either!), it’s such a breath of fresh air!!! 😍

Expand full comment

Sadly I have been super busy the last couple of weeks and have not had much time for the comments but I always prioritize at least reading the C&C blog. I love the comments section, but it's a giant sucking sound that once I go there I can lose track of time and next thing I know I am behind on everything else.

Oh yes I definitely can spend far more time here than I should but it’s way better than TV (which I don’t have anyway!) 😁

I am showing my age with that one. Ross Perot (ran as 3rd party for president in 1992) used that phrase to describe NAFTA's effect on American jobs, it was his signature line. People made fun of him, but I was a huge fan and volunteered for his campaign.

Expand full comment

I thought the same thing at first! Saying good bye on an iPad?? Whose fault was that? Hers! If she was on the front line and seeing what the hospitals did to people, SHE was the buck. SHE had a chance to stop it or at least speak up instead of being a useless zombie mouthpiece.

Exactly!!! Just like all those fervent Covidiots who wring their hands and lament about how children are so behind on academics and have so many mental health issues 🙄😡 Well who insisted on creating the conditions for THAT??? 🤬 Jerks.

Well, you will be happy to know that they are no longer behind on academics. 2nd grade standards have now been adopted for 12th grade. Problem solved!

And mental health issues. pfffssshhhh...you can be anyone or anything you want to be (except white, male, and/or conservative).

/sarc off/

Oh yes, just move the goalposts, a perennial favorite of theirs to be sure… 🙄

Also since the ones suffering the worst effects are “the poors” it doesn’t really matter anyway. As long as their kids can get tutoring and help to keep up, it’s all good! Plus they can all virtue signal about how hard they worked to keep everyone safe, so no harmful effects from the lockdowns, masks and jabs will ever be bad enough to outdo the virtue high they get from their good deeds 🙄

From this morning's Brownstone:

"The influential and prestigious Royal Society of the UK put out a huge study that concluded lockdowns and everything associated with them were all wonderfully effective."

"...........It’s because most of the world’s governments have an unthinkably massive investment, both financially and propagandistically, in the lockdown paradigm. They can never admit that it was all an unworkable disaster. The world is still far from recovering."

Expand full comment

"The world is still far from recovering." I was at Home Depot this afternoon and a young couple was in there, basically by themselves, dutifully wearing their N95's. Worse was the woman I saw while on my way home who was masked while walking alone, outside.

Michael, finish the story: someone investigate the Royal Society and their entire board is deeply compromised - they all were decisive in instigating the lockdowns, etc. Hardly objective!

If there is any justice in the world (and we know ultimately, there IS), people will hang their heads in shame whenever the practice of "last good-byes via iPad" gets raised in conversation. What a shameful, shameful time for humanity and the medical profession in particular!

Smart people <can> use that intelligence to better at at confirmation bias.

I was a student at Caltech for 1 2/3 years before admitting I'd never make it there and transferring to a state U. But that does qualify me to join a Caltech alumni discussion group on facebook. I'm a loser in real life compared to most of these people. But almost all of them still have faith in organized science in the US and will not take off their blinders. At best, they will ignore the exhortations to take boosters if they know they have gotten COVID. At worst - you can guess. There is one exception besides me, who is considered a kook, of course.

You see I was openminded when I was told back in 2004 about the mercury in vaccines, and started biomed recovery of my older daughter, who had a milder form of autism. I've been skeptical ever since. And I've used my classes in probably and statistics, (in which I earned "C"s, thanks to untreated depression) as well as learning on the fly about ways to torture studies to provide desired outcomes, to see behind the curtain.

Expand full comment

YOU ARE NOT A LOSER IN REAL LIFE! We are all children of God, and we all have different and valuable gifts. Book smarts is just one area of life and income level is just a way shallow people keep score. Skepticism is a gift, as is common sense. Being able to help your daughter is a gift. Look at a guy like Oliver Anthony, who went from an obscure guy with a substance abuse problem to a household name all because he gave it all to the Lord and trusted in Him, yet has turned down big contracts as he just wants to be his own person. Matthew 16:26 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?

Expand full comment

Good for you, now I just look at them and say, "Really" and wait for their response. I don't bother arguing or trying to convince anyone - it's an absolute waist of time.

Expand full comment

Oh in person, I try to read the situation, and if they seem open I will go there, but if they are arrogant or virtue signalers, I just say guess we have to agree to disagree. But I really did try for about 18 months, in person, on the phone, online. Emailed articles, studies, links, tried to acknowledge that many people were leading with emotion/fear. But all I got back was anger and hatefulness. Sad how many still don't have a clue even now. 95% of the time, it is a waste of time.

Expand full comment

Anger and fear somehow give meaning to their lives, so they hold onto that anger and fear stubbornly and ferociously.

Expand full comment

I can't remember where I saw it, but there was some crazy op-ed about 'missing lockdowns'!! Just typed 'I miss lockdowns' into DDG, and OMG, there were a bunch of results!? WTH! I hated it with a passion. Granted MO was only shut down for a few weeks but everything was still cancelled for months on end. Lots of damaged people from this garbage.

Expand full comment

I mean, I can understand people who had the privilege, being nostalgic for the days of "sit around at home and still get paid".

Expand full comment

The more I think about this, the more outraged I feel. It just shows how juvenile and selfish these people are. They’re nostalgic for lockdowns because they lacked the courage and the maturity to set appropriate boundaries. So they were grateful the government made an excuse for them. But they completely disregard all of the damage and harm it did to so many people in society. Oh but as long as THEY enjoyed it and felt relieved to be able to slow down the pace of life, as long as THEY still got paid, to hell with everyone else who suffered. So completely self centered!!! 🤬 Then they had the absolute gall to preen about how much they “cared” 😡

Expand full comment

Yes I’ve seen that as well and had the same reaction as you did. WTH is right!!!! I hated that period too.

Expand full comment

Those people…I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s just an impossible pill to swallow for them. And it puts us in that awkward conspiracy theorist category. Even IF they could admit that mask and vaxes didn’t work that leads to the whys…why can’t I trust my doctor, why would our government do this to us? The answer to that is untenable.

Expand full comment

I was blessed to stumble into mistrust in the government in my 20's, no one big lightning bolt, just a gradual awakening that social programs are the opposite of 'caring', that bureaucrats care more about policy than people, and that there are no incentives baked in to excel. But even so the past few years have 'turned it up to 11' (if you are a Spinal Tap fan ;-) for me.

Totally agree. I’m only on day 3 as a reader. I’m hooked and admit to a snort laugh about the how the deer contagion might have occurred...

Expand full comment

Deer with cv-19? Not buying it. Do you know how much hunters spend to be able to sneak up on a deer so as to have a clean shot? Even when it's not hunting season getting within the magic 6' safety bubble is impossible!

Expand full comment

I’m thinking they choose “deer” because they want to frighten us from harvesting deer meat when their great famine puts us in starvation mode. Wild feral hogs are probably next to vilify as covid contaminated, and then wild turkeys. Just a thought anyway. Remember how Venezuela people killed and ate zoo animals to survive? I don’t put anything past TPTB and their evil agenda.

That's exactly what I thought. Hunting season coming up soon, and deer meat is healthy.....

Expand full comment

I agree with you.

We also love wild (feral) hog meat; especially hog sausage, it’s more like a steak patty than the greasy mess you get at the grocery store. In fact you have to add lard to wild hog meat as you make the sausage since it’s so dry compared to domesticated hog.

And I don’t think you need any kind of license (at least not in my state) since they are considered a menace, and you can hunt them year round.

prions in deer and elk, don't forget that (additive) from 20 years ago

I suppose it would be gutting and carrying them out of the woods. Then the butchering part. So this is how us hunters get the covid. And then of course we cook up that meat and eat it so there is more covid. I think I'll continue to eat wild meat and not suck up all the chemicals in the processed meats from the government run factories. If I drop dead in my sleep so be it. (there is still fake news all over out there)

Just subbed

Great writing CM.

I am a 3rd gen San Franciscan.

Left in 1980 though. The long cycle of SF life was behind me and my family.

Marin was the next stop and eventually Sonoma county.

I left the Bay in 2014 for good. Started to feel suffocated and wanted to live in the SW.

Kids grown and on my own.

Life was a bit tough starting in March 2020 within my big family during that whole fiasco. I seemed to be the only one with “common sense” and able to stick to my guns. Nothing is going in my arm.

I did too much research early on..... way too much so that was a big NO.

Luckily Arizona had many pockets of sanity. Any many in my community didn’t buy it.

They turned off CNN’s ticker tape of death! Broadcast for months on end.

Now my fiancé and I travel full time in an RV

Traveling the west.

Oh the places we’ve been.... and the folks we’ve met.

Good news.... we’re not all divided and hate each other.

Met almost a thousand people out there.

Most are wonderful.

Two or three have been challenging.

But it has restored my faith that the entire country is not divided.

Now I’m back in the north bay for a month and well..... the masks are back on slowly but surely.

Sad to see a mom and two young kids masked up outside walking the dogs. Along with many others.

On a perfect sunny Sonoma county day.

Oh well.....

Visiting a family member who has blood clots in one leg and a very rare and unexpected cancer that just popped up.

Sadly Any information I shared with family back in 2020 seemed to fall on deaf or angry ears.

And so, here we are

We’re all talking now but it was a dark period.

Even lost contact with one of my daughters for too long. But even that has come back around and slowly mending that.

Excited to follow your Substack 🥳

I too have so so many great memories from my childhood in SF. But during the 60’s and 70’s.

Anyway.....Cheers to you across the miles ~

That is a sign to many of us Catholics that war will break out soon in Europe. The world is on a precipice. Foretold by 4 little girls, in Garabandal Spain, receiving visions from the Virgin Mary, back in the early 1960’s.

“This prophecy has been on the watchlist of those who have been following prophecies made during the apparitions of the Blessed Mother to four girls (now in their senior years, except one who passed away as a "victim soul") in Garabandal, Spain from 1961-1965.

This Garabandal prophecy (in 1965) seems to be at the doorstep: that the pope would visit Moscow and upon his return to the Vatican, hostilities will break out in many parts of Europe.”
