Masons use their members to control and put them in positions of power to carry out what they need and to filter out those who can be corrupted. That is why there is a lodge in every city. That is how they control and protect the "brotherhood" by secrecy at the lowest level and they move up when they prove themselves getting higher positions. They do the same with the college kids in these secret clubs like the famous skull and bones. The hazing is necessary for them to go through as it makes them subservient to the club and fearful of consequences.
Secret clubs always left me "cold" - don't want to join any of them. I'm not a 'team player' but do appreciate an honest debate of different "trains of thought" with people who are critical thinkers and not "epithet spewers".

I always disliked cliques and fake people.
Ditto!
