Kudos to Sharpie! Jay Jones, the Democrat candidate for Virginia Attorney General, texted that he wants to kill his political opponents and their kids. Not a single Democrat, including Governor candidate Abigail Spanberger, has called for him to drop out. Team blue is still heavily favored to sweep Virginia’s upcoming election. You can’t sing kumbaya with people who want you dead. Anyone pushing “both sides” false equivalencies will continue to lose credibility.

Torrance Stephens's avatar

According to Luke Rosiak:

"The most important part of the Jay Jones story is his rage was triggered by the fact that *a moderate Republican said nice things about a moderate Democrat when the Democrat died*

That's what caused him to want to shoot the Republican House speaker: the Republican was collegial."

JBell's avatar

I missed the details on that ..... have any?

Mary Mc's avatar

He was also arrested for doing 116mph in a 45 zone. Got off with 1k hours of community service, which he used on his campaign (a big no/no) and misrepresented how he served it. 🤬

Mary Mc's avatar

I need to correct this he was doing 45 phone OVER the speed limit.

Mary Mc's avatar

Mph not phone (comments needs and edit capability. 🙄)

I’m a Virginian and I swear I don’t see how blue is going to win. Especially after the last 4.5 years. Why would we get YOUNGKIN elected only to reverse everything? Why won’t the black community rally around Winsome Sears?? Spanberger is a commie bitch. If she wins it might be because they cheated.

FedUpDeb's avatar

I’ve already voted in Virginia for the Republican ticket. Virginia is not Spamberger’s dream sanctuary state and we do not approve of the vile language Jay Jones has used. I suspect that the race is tighter than the MSM would lead you to believe.

NoVA mom's avatar

I’m up in NoVA…so so many crazy libs loving Spamberger while wearing their masks still……..My entire family will vote for Sears. The silent majority must vote!

Tim R's avatar

You are doing the Lord's work, Nova mom. Once Juli Briskman, the AWFL from my old neighborhood, got elected to Loudoun County Supervisors for giving Trump motorcade the finger (and that was literally her only "qualification"), I knew it was time to skedaddle for sunny Florida. You who stay and fight are to be commended.

NoVA mom's avatar

Thank you neighbor. Yup - she went to my previous church - I was acquainted with her. Disgusting behavior to say the least. Grew up in NJ - love the weather in VA…FL too hot …Going to try and fight for now :-) I think more people are waking up

Mary Mc's avatar

We're headed to TN. VA is becoming a lost cause.

DJL's avatar

Let’s hope so. I have to believe parents would Not vote for scum that allows men in women’s sports and bathrooms. And she wrote the bill. She’s mentally deranged. And she has daughters. wtf??

Bandit's avatar

We could always hope the daughters get raped by the "men in women's sports and bathrooms" and learn to blame their mother because of it.

DJL's avatar

That’s pretty harsh. But sometimes reality bites. These dumbass libs won’t learn until it bites them

LamedVav disavows all vaxes.'s avatar

I don’t think it’s harsh enough.

Bandit's avatar

I know. It is. Would like to hear them rationalizing it to their raped daughter.

CMCM's avatar

The big thing to overcome is to get lifelong Dems to vote for someone other than a Dem. I suspect a great many Dem voters don't follow what is going on in most politics, they just automatically press the button for whoever has a D by his or her name. Too bad the R's can't get more people out in to the black communities to discuss Sears in particular, as well as make the case for the R's remaining in office.

Karmy's avatar

You need to get Scott Presler in VA! He makes things happen

DAM on the beach's avatar

Good point. Where is the RNC

They were missing an action when various races were counted 2 to 3 weeks after election day

And now they’re missing an action again.

The only thing I see that they are good at is filling up my messages with texts, requesting money

Andrea405's avatar

Bullseye! Even as a child in the 1970s, my father would say to his Dem relatives they would vote for Hitler if he was a dem before ever voting R. And they would just answer him that would never happen because no one that bad is a dem!! You can't make this stuff up.

JollyLittlePerson's avatar

And Jay Jones got out of a speeding ticket crime in a very dodgy way. I believe he was going something like 116 mph in a 70 mph zone! I'll try to find a link.

JollyLittlePerson's avatar

Yes, he was convicted of reckless driving in 2022, so quite recently. He apparently did "community service" for his own campaign!

Mary Mc's avatar

He was doing 116mph in a 45 zone! Got 1000 hours of community service but was working on his campaign for 500 of those.

Michelle Enmark, DDS's avatar

That seems to be a trend. Hopefully it will be a call to action for those who will vote Republican to cast their ballots.

Robin Greer's avatar

Maybe the press is trying to do like they did with the Trump-Hillary election. Remember there was no way that Trump was going to win. Hopefully, their reporting will push Republicans to vote en masse. As Trump said, "Too big to rig."

shibumi's avatar

This is what they did in the Detroit area ["Wayne County"] during the Trump-Hillary election. I know this due to a discussion with an observer for Trump during the Jill Stein recount there:

Boxes marked by poll workers:

Trump 25

Hillary 275

Boxes opened and counted:

Trump 175

Hillary 125

That's why the recount was stopped; it was easy to see the misdeeds of the poll workers.

And... what did the "outsider nerd" republican governor do? He could have sent people to jail. Instead, he opted for "more training."

Robin Greer's avatar

Just shaking my head. Some Republicans seem to be wolves in sheep's clothing.

Yea. Jones on some Che Guevara ish. His reasoning matches Guevara's thinking:

"We must carry the war into every corner the enemy happens to carry it: to his home, to his centers of entertainment; a total war. It is necessary to prevent him from having a moment of peace, a quiet moment outside his barracks or even inside; we must attack him wherever he may be; make him feel like a cornered beast wherever he may move. Then his moral fiber shall begin to decline. He will even become more beastly, but we shall notice how the signs of decadence begin to appear."

He is the William Wallace of homeowners. My husband and I were just lamenting yesterday how we will lose our home once he retires due to our property taxes being higher than a monthly mortgage, and unable to be sustained on his retirement income. (For reference we live outside of Blue Chicago, in a modest middle class home, and our property taxes are over $15,000/year now but our home is not of the luxury that such a price implies.)

Edit to highlight a point I shared in a reply below: Any way you look at it, it’s theft. Over the past 20 years they have stolen our retirement and wealth from us. How? By taking $250,000 of my husband’s hard earned money as real estate taxes. Imagine what $250,000 in an interest bearing account would have been worth today? We couldn’t afford BOTH saving AND real estate taxes, so they got our retirement.

Mitch's avatar

at that tax rate, you are just a tax slave

your retirement is paying for their retirement...take a look into local governments' pensions.

Janet's avatar

Our small Illinois town was letting aldermen be eligible for state IMRF pensions while only “working” a few hours a week. That did stop some years ago but plenty of theft still goes on. Looking at our property tax then looking around for any sign of it being used to benefit us.

JBell's avatar

Yep, we are headed to FL from Ohio for this exact reason. I remember when the "assessed value" was about half of the amount you could sell for..... then they started assessing the taxes based on the last sale and increasing all of the neighboring houses to match..... terrible way to do business.

Juju's avatar

We will once my husband retires. He has 2-4 years to go still. Probably 4

P Flournoy's avatar

Prayers that you can keep up with these horrible taxes until you can escape and then I have prayers that you find a wonderful home in your new location. My husband and I left Dallas and moved about 40 miles away where taxes are much cheaper and homes are a better value and most importantly, God is reverenced. When we went out to dinner, the first week we were here, I noticed that the sheriff cars all had “ in God we trust” on the bumpers and I said, “we have moved to the right place.” Also, the county judge put an article in the local newspaper (This was at the height of ) and said, “we do not require masks anywhere in this county because people are adults and have constitutional rights and we depend on them to do the right thing!”

daverkb's avatar

At that level of taxation a house in not an 'investment', it's a liability. And the best thing to do is always drop a liability while there is still a market for said item.

This is the key to financial success. Sell the most over-rated items. And buy true value. Do this before 'the public' catches on.

Juju's avatar

But where do you put that money? We can’t afford the cost of renting around here and have to live somewhere. And if it’s not put back into another property within 12 months they will tax it to high heaven.

God Bless America's avatar

Time to move to Alabama… Even though our property taxes have gone up, they are still very low compared to other states.

Also, have you ever thought about doing any passive income investing? We are doing careful research on many different ETFs. Just a thought… 💖🙏🏽

God Bless America's avatar

BTW, our property taxes are $574 this year. We have 2/3 an acre with a 2000 square-foot house. We have lived in this house for 25 years. When we first moved here, the property taxes were a little over $200 a year, so it has gone up… but much lower than many states!

And no… The stereotypes are not right! We don't:

1. Marry our sisters or brothers (ewww 🤢)

2. Not everyone has a pick up truck (wouldn’t mind having one)

3. Not everyone is an Alabama fan… We have Auburn fans also! 🤣

Holy freaking cow, Juju, $15,000 a year is downright evil. I feel bad now for complaining about ours here in OK. It does go up every year, which is bad, but we own 20 acres with a pretty nice 3 BR house and outbuildings, and our tax last year was $2265. Move to Oklahoma! Our governor has been talking about getting rid of state income tax, which would be wonderful. Maybe he will take a cue from Ron DeS and do something about property tax as well. It really is wicked for the govt to make us pay them every year for property we “own”.

Janet's avatar

It’s outrageous. I live in a rural Illinois county up north and this county is one of the highest property taxed counties in the country. I’m trying to find the benefits around me of this tax grab. It’s a red county for over 150 years.

Donna in MO's avatar

So sorry! Gosh that's awful. I have been raising heck due to ours going up by $1200 in the 2023 re-assessment but our total bill is still less than $4K...for now anyway. We did successfully recall our County Exec over the property tax issue last week. But it's a blue county overall, and odds of anything but another D taking his place are slim. Our state does have a program that rebates part of the property tax $ for low income seniors, but the income threshold is pretty low, and the legislature did pass a 'freeze' for people over 62, BUT the burden is still ridiculous for everyone else, and ignores the fact that not all seniors are indigent. Both our moms make more money than we do as they have pensions and investment income, and my mom pays $0 property tax as she is in assisted living and no longer owns a car. Her facility does pay property tax though so suppose it's factored in her rent, although several of them in our town did get property tax breaks when they were built. EVERYONE needs to pay attention to local - city and county - as the grift just keeps growing and it's time to fight back.

SM's avatar

That makes me so upset for all the hardworking families in Illinois. I keep trying to convince my cousin to get out of that state but it isn’t that easy.

Knowing that your taxes are going into the pockets of illegal aliens is absolutely nauseating and infuriating.

Robin Greer's avatar

I can't believe how high property taxes are in some areas. It's insane. I do wonder if. property taxes were in place because in the past only property owners had the right to vote.

LuAnne's avatar

I look at listed real estate regularly. It's sort of a weird hobby of mine. I look at homes across the US but I'm specifically interested in MI, IL, IN, and OH. We've been living in Texas for 40 yrs and we've always dreamed of returning to our home state of MI some day (both of our families still live there).

I can find plenty of nice homes for sale in IL decently priced but it becomes unattractive as soon as I get to the property tax disclosure section. Ridiculous amounts. On top of that, IL has an income tax as well. We would be cash buyers but between property taxes, insurance, and a state income tax, it totals more than any P&I we've ever paid in our entire adult lives and our first mortgage years ago was @ 12% interest!

MI is just as bad. What I'm seeing is that it's not just housing prices that are crippling young buyers but rather all the local & state taxes that now are much more than the P&I amount.

Juju's avatar

Bingo. And our interest rate on our present mortgage is only 2.3%. We can’t exchange that for an equal mortgage at 7%

LuAnne's avatar

To add insult to injury, most homeowners see little to no benefit for their property tax $'s. Crappy roads, crappy school districts, along with rising crime rates. What exactly are homeowners getting out of it?

Tom Cashman's avatar

They are getting bloated bureaucracies that don't add any value... but just suck people's hard earned money to pay for grifters who sit around and try to figure out how to come up with new and innovative ways to tax their constituents.

Janet's avatar

High tax. Worst school test scores in the county. Crappy roads too. Rising crime. 8 cars in one single family driveway every night across the street. But my husband was ordered to get on the sidewalk by a cop when he was walking on the street. He told the cop unless he is arresting him, he’s walking in the street. We walk in the street because the sidewalks are so bad they are a walking hazard and sidewalks end in the middle of the block sometimes.

C. Wilson's avatar

And you are not moving...why? You know there is a beautiful world out here. You have your choice of so many wonderful places.

And, I don't care to hear the "why" of how you refuse to succeed. Sell now, live in a trailer and drag it somewhere to stay until you find your dream home.

Juju's avatar

Easy to say and imagine but there ARE situations where it’s not possible. You “don’t want to hear it” but I’m going to explain it anyway. My husband is blue collar and has 2-4 years to retirement. He has to stay within driving distance of his union. Everything within 60-90 minute drive is the same or more expensive than what we presently pay. Nobody will hire a 60 year old man at the same hourly rate he gets as a general foreman with the same benefits if he tries to get a new job elsewhere (after 38 years with one company.)

We priced out what renting for the next couple years would cost and even a shoebox house in a lesser safe neighborhood is more than our mortgage, RE taxes, and insurance are combined, for 1/3 the space. Rents are ridiculous around here. We actually are in the cheapest option in our area for now even though RE taxes are killing us.

Plus our mortgage only has 2.3% apr. We doubled up our payments to get it paid down quicker.

Trailer? Around here? It’s not like Texas in the burbs of Chicago or we’d maybe entertain that idea. But still storage units to store our home in the meantime are a nosebleed expense. Just a 10x15 unit is over $235/mo and we would easily need at least four of them to store everything until we can go elsewhere.

In the end all the costs of trying to get out of this situation at most saves MAYBE $100-$200/month but we lose the power of building equity, $1200/year is not enough savings to go through all the headaches.

You can’t judge others based on what things cost in a lesser expensive, rural corner of America. And recently I was in central Texas and saw the prices were the same if not higher. Including rent.

Renee Sommers's avatar

We moved from Fresno to North Central Arkansas at the tip of the Ozarks. The square footage and property taxes flipped. We have 600 more square feet and $600 less in property taxes. (California property taxes are based on purchase price, not appraisal value. Thank goodness for Prop 13!) Arkansas also has a homesteading clause. You get to deduct $500 from your property taxes and after 65 your taxes are locked in unless the millage rate goes up.

SadieJay's avatar

Absolutely!! But the property insurance in Cali is the problem.

Juju's avatar

That’s another head scratcher. We are a landlocked area, no flood zone, tornados are not common at all, no earthquakes, but our home insurance rose from 1600 four years ago to 2600 this year. They were only 2200 last year. It’s like they are charging all of us for the risks others chose to purchase.

Renee Sommers's avatar

Totally. Fortunately, we left 20 months ago. Insurance here isn’t cheap either. We had a tornado in our are right after we moved here. We were fine, but homes 10 miles southeast of us sustained damage.

tlc10's avatar

We're in central IL and for a 2100sq' home, pay close to 8k in property tax :( What's hard for people to understand, is there are many great people and places in IL...plus, after decades to a lifetime of living, you have deep roots. Many things add to being content...health, safe surroundings, good neighbors, seasons. Things money can't always buy. Plus it's hard to get another home equal in value in red states where good government is a huge bonus. Hard decisions, good luck Juju. Btw, we lived in FL a time...lovely, but I missed the wide open countryside, seasonal changes, slower pace and certainly less traffic that we have here :)

It makes me sad (and angry) that a few misguided, power hungry people can ruin a whole state...pushing good people out! It seems Chicago & Champaign Co control the rest of a basically red state. Best wishes to all in making the decisions & sacrifices you have to make later in life. God bless & goodnight.

JBell's avatar

Juju - I hear ya, we have the same..... added to all of that is the expense of moving across the country (OH to FL) is about $5k .... something we had to save up for in order to execute the move.

Juju's avatar

We just moved our son from IL to TX so he could start his new life with his first job out of college. Total moving costs exceeded $7,000. He needed an additional $3,000 since he didn’t have a car and needed that for a down payment. (Most people moving don’t need a car…) He had $8 in his checking account upon graduation. 🤣 His new company covered $5,000 of his expenses but it wasn’t nearly enough. The moving truck alone was $1500, not including gas, lodging and meals, then you have first month’s rent and security deposit. That ate up all the company reimbursement and he still had to buy food and supplies, and pay nosebleed car rental fees until he got the car arranged.

Moving is reeeeally expensive nowadays.

Margot Wooster's avatar

I hope he is still loving the job

Margot Wooster's avatar

That’s a very rude thing to say. I can think of a lot of reasons why someone might not be able to move, other than “refusing to succeed.”

And invest the former prop tax money. Follow Pelosi, she's up %24 so far this year!! There is an app that will let you follow her investments!

Dave aka Geezermann's avatar

Juju - Thank you for sharing that. Yes, it's theft. And it is contrary to the right of ownership of property. I am in downstate Illinois, in a rural red county, and I have the senior citizen property tax freeze. Otherwise I would have lost my home long ago.

Now I have to figure out how to pay my overdue internet and phone bill by Oct. 20, to avoid being cut off from the outside world. It is very difficult to get by on $900 a month. But I have faith and a positive attitude.

The result of 'Speculation' by co.s like Vanguard and Blackrock, artificially inflating prices by strangling supply. No percentage of these Co.s portfolios should contain any kind of residential real estate. Makes me think this is part of a larger coordinated effort.

That was a Charlie Kirk position also, Ollie. He debated the point with a young gal, I think it was over her head. Some day hopefully she will get it.

Perhaps the "larger coordinated effort" is the old "You'll own nothing and be happy". Not too sure about the happy part.

We moved from Communist Connecticut back in 2015 to GA . Our property taxes were over $32,000 a year !

Juju's avatar

Oh my Lord 😳 That IS robbing homeowners.

Robyn Welch's avatar

We lived in Burr Ridge for 3 years, 2006 - 2009, when my husband was stationed at the reserve center near there. We could afford to rent but not buy, because it was right before the housing bubble burst. The house we were renting had been on the market for $450k, property taxes were $12k. But teachers and first responders made $100k. It is a viscous cycle of taxes and paying government employees enough to be able to afford the cost of living and taxes.

Willy-nilly's avatar

I rent in the city in Chicago and my landlord told me how assessments went up every year. I looked up the property on Zillow. The property tax tripled in the last ten years. Things are not 3 times better than they were in 2014. I don't know what they do with the money... Same goes for the money from legalizing marijuana. All this money coming in and nothing to show for. It stinks on every corner, people smoke on the train, neighbors smoke... you get the idea. They also started taxing groceries a while back. It's not much, but it sure is something when you take it from everybody.

PEL's avatar

I moved out of Lake County for that reason. Post-COVID house “values” have gone through the roof which gives them license to jack the taxes even higher. Was in that house for 30 years but very happy I moved and surprisingly don’t miss it. Please consider it. That’s a lot of $ to shell out every year. Illinois is broke yet Cook County has not even sent second installment property tax bills out yet due to technical issues.

Juju's avatar

Trust me we can’t wait to leave. But every financial advisor that looks at our particular circumstances says the best thing we can do is stay right where we are until he retires. It’s the cheapest option at present. Unbelievable. My heart breaks for those less fortunate who will never be able to own their own property.

PEL's avatar

I successfully got mine lowered a couple of times using their online tool. Used the comp sales option.

Heterodox Introvert's avatar

The injustice has also been framed as a tax on unrealized gains. Indeed it is.

It's akin to that proposal in Congress sometime in the last few years that wanted to tax income on liquid investments based on some expert's opinion 🙄🤬of where the value of the investment would be in the future, not as of the date of filing fedederal income tax docs. Head scratcher.

Worth mentioning again that, in general, meaning the majority of Americans, who work in or have investment income from the *private* sector connected in no way with the federal government (meaning excluding those elected or appointed within the fed gov't, those employed in the fed gov't whether military or civilian, those whose income is from contracts with the fed gov't, and other particular cases) do NOT have a federal income tax liability. Deep, deep rabbit hole. Worth exploring. Cojones required to stand up to the bully agency. But when one knowledgably points to 'their' own Code (USC Title 26) and does not cave the low level bullies ultimately have no argument. They can't escalate to legal personnel because the Code says, in scrambled legalese (your knowledge comes from unscrambling), that you don't owe. Some people who have figured it out don't pay federal income tax. Hoping the truth comes out in full flower in my lifetime.

Emmel's avatar

If I recall correctly this argument about taxes only being owed by “employees” and that term is clearly defined in the tax code as an individual working for the federal government. It does not define an employee as one working for private enterprises. Yes a rabbit hole, one that no one wants to go down first.

Heterodox Introvert's avatar

A lesser argument but also true. The more applicable/primary argument/s lies buried in definitions - at §7701. (Imagine that. In a complex and arguably convoluted Code the definitions are not stated up front in the early subsections. Nooo. Some 𝘴𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘭𝘶𝘴 subsections later they present the meat. Hm.)

*edit - Might feel like one is first; that's the fear factor. Hardly. There is community where one can find guidance and support, though in the end one does take on the task "alone." Some professionals (CPAs, JDs) are knowlegable in the correct way and for their price can provide guidance. Again, the "taxpayer" (if that's how one identifies) ultimately has to sign docs and communications. Not something to be handed off even to a pro, providing a sense of relief. One has to educate oneself.

Rob D's avatar

Amen. I grow weary of reading almost every day where someone who is in their 80s or 90s got kicked out of their house because they can't afford property taxes. A house they paid for and dished out property taxes for for decades. Reform is much needed in so-called "property taxes." Those advocating for more and more property taxes are usually young pups who think they are going to live forever, and have an unlimited income their entire lives. They don't even think for a second of how these tax schemes screw people who's income doesn't go up while the taxes do. I don't want to choose between eating cat food and paying the state for the "privilege" of living in a house I paid thousands and thousands of dollars for. I've heard some great ideas on reform like including the property taxes in the mortgage all at once and then if you pay off your mortgage you are done. No more property taxes after you have paid off your home. I'm sick of this crap. If states had to cough up the money to reimburse homeowners for homes they foreclose on for "failure to pay property taxes" they may start thinking twice and maybe even figure out some innovative ways to collect these taxes while letting people stay in THEIR HOMES. Our homes don't belong to the flipping state!

Juju's avatar
Oct 6Edited

Maybe they don’t need as much as they are taking and wasting, let’s start there. And removing true ownership of property bought by an individual citizen as their primary residence is not the way to pay for it. Business taxes on the other hand is taxing not an individual land owner but a company that is earning income from the land they occupy, unlike a primary residence which does not. Even sales taxes and taxing secondary residences make more sense because you can’t lose your life’s savings in your primary property if you choose to not pay them by not buying products, the way you can if you don’t pay RE taxes.

Proper financial management of funds given to operate a local government and wise investing of such to raise more funds is the right way to go so that you can’t rob homeowners. They raise countless millions and billions for pet business ventures constantly, so don’t tell me that same savvy can’t be used to raise money to fund local government services.

I’ve never seen a business case for how local governments would raise the revenue they claim to need if they were forbidden from collecting property taxes.

erin's avatar

I think there should be land use fees (ala Henry George) but no property taxes on built things. Land wasn't made by anyone, and therefore belongs to all, and there should be a fee for using it...

Dolce Far Niente's avatar

You're kidding, right?

How do you logically get to user fees paid to the government because land was "not made by anyone and belongs to all".

By that tortured logic, nobody "made" your car because the iron ore turned into steel was never "made" by anyone. The beef or broccoli you eat was never "made" by anyone.

How does government acquire the right to impose fees (taxes by another name) on something no one "made.. and belongs to all"? Government is not "all"; it's certainly not me.

You don't own anything more substantial than your phone, do you? I'll bet you don't have children either.

Renee Sommers's avatar

Also…why do we get charged to park on city streets, i.e. parking meters? We already pay taxes, sales, property, etc.., so why are they charging fees to park on streets that we paid for?

S.P.H.'s avatar

Educate gently Dolce, learning is a process.

erin's avatar

Check out Henry George.

You don't see a difference between a car that has lots of human input, and land which has zero, we just inherited it by being on this planet?

Henry George argued that those who privatize land and derive benefit from that should pay a fee to the local community. He makes a lot of sense. :-)

Dolce Far Niente's avatar

You think land with a home on it, or a farm or a factory or even range land has "zero input from humans"?. Think logically and educate yourself.

And why do you want that land should be owned by "everybody" rather than the persons going back generations who invest time, sweat, treasure to make that land what it is today?

YOU certainly contributed nothing, nor did anyone but the owner. But you think you deserve to benefit? Everyone but socialists (read; adolescents) disagree and always have disagreed. Do you also think the owner should be paid back by "everybody" for the thousands or millions of dollars and countless hours of labor they invested in land that belongs to "everybody"?

People like your hero there only make sense to bitter losers and college sophomores who have not managed to acquire anything of value, but very little sense to adults. And there's a reason.

erin's avatar

I think we have a misunderstanding here. I meant ONLY raw land. I am against any and all improvements being taxed. Do you see any problems now?

The only reference I ran across was made by former Chief of Staff to the Vice President of the United States Mike Pence, Marc Short on Meet the Press.

Wanted to add that in 2021, Jones called for a Norfolk police lieutenant to be fired after donating $25 to Kyle Rittenhouse’s legal defense fund

Jeff C's avatar

No they have not lost their minds. They have made a conscious decision to use any mean possible, particularly violence, to overthrow the constitutional order.

People need to stop this delusion that these people are just misguided souls, they have shown over and over that they are not. I don't know what they are but I suspect it's demonic as at their core is *always* a hatred of White European Christians.

These animals have made it clear that unless they are in charge we will have chaos, death, and destruction. They live for it. Look who supports them, it's not your church attending neighbor but a collection of atheist Jews and Marxist third-worlders. Look at the names of the opponents in Jeff Childers post on property taxes, Karlan, Gornstein, and Adler, quite a coincidence there. It's almost always non-Christians.

South American regimes emptied their prisons and sent the worst of the worst to the US under Biden. Islamists now run Michigan suburbs. Indians are now also becoming a big part of their demonic coalition, and spreading their ethnic tribalism. Notice though they are openly hostile to Christianity, this is by design.

There was a deliberate and intentional flooding of the country with unassimilated barbaric and crime-prone masses to destroy the Christian fabric of the country. This has gone on since the 1960's but massively accelerated in the 2000's.

People need to wake up and stop acting like there's something in the water that's making people go nuts. This is intentional and premeditated. And unless we snap out of it and realize what's going on, the country will be lost. And yes, someone may call you a "racist" for pointing out the obvious. So what? Isn't your kids and grandkids future worth being called a few names?

Alan Devincentis's avatar

I’m a proud racist. I love being white, and love hanging with other white people. Hate islam, and all its adherents!

LamedVav disavows all vaxes.'s avatar

Thank you, Alan. We are animals and just like the rest of them we have a built-in tribal/herd instinct.

You will see it clearly if you put a flock of white chickens together with a flock of black chickens in the same chicken coop.

This instinct was mostly overridden in humans until Barack Obama came along and fanned the flames.

Torrance Stephens's avatar

Dang Alan, since when did you start to hate me? LOL

Alan Devincentis's avatar

Never said I did, sir. In fact I respect you. Unless you adhere to islam. I don’t think you do. I just like being white. And ihave no problem saying that. Do I think whites are better than blacks? Yep. But that doesn’t mean I hate you. I’m not one if these guys on here that hate everybody. Do you like being black? Are you proud of your heritage? And , if you had a choice, would you be more comfortable say in a black church, than a white one?

Torrance Stephens's avatar

Plus, my race don't define me. God, my manhood and family only ones can do that.

Torrance Stephens's avatar

Lol. Never thought you did. Comment wise, only seen respect for you because race aside, you love Americans. No Islam here, as you well know.

But do me a favor let me know what you think of what I stacked today if you can

Critical Thinker's avatar

Amen x1000. I have to wonder what the end game will be, given the sad reality of things. Is there an alternative to civil war?

Jeff C's avatar

First thing is to stop listening to non-Christians, particularly when they are defining morality or what's an acceptable viewpoint.

People get confused on this. Salvation is available to all who accept Christ, once that happens they become our brothers and sisters regardless of their past beliefs, race, background, or whatever. That is the love of Christ.

However, the enemy has twisted this to make Christians think we must be tolerant of other's beliefs before this happens, before repentance. It is a lie from the pit of Hell. It has made Christians weak and willing participants in the destruction of our Christian country.

On that matter, people need to understand that Jews are non-Christian, and are not our spiritual "big brothers". They rejected Christ and are largely influenced by Talmudism and Kabballah, false belief systems developed after the Resurrection that are diametrically opposed to Christianity. We should be attempting to convert them, not letting them influence our culture.

Yet Jewish influence permeates every aspect of the media, entertainment, pop culture, the music industry, all of the things that shape society. Look who runs these companies, another hell of a coincidence. None of it is uplifting or inspiring people to Christian good, but demoralizing and promoting sinful and incredibly self-destructive behavior. Reject all of it and call them out. Christ is King, get behind me demon.

Further, when some Marxist immigrant starts mouthing off about what a terrible place America is, promptly tell them to perform an anatomically impossible act. Tell them to go back where they came from if it's so awful here. Leave and don't come back. Don't be polite or tolerant. Don't excuse it out of some ill-conceived "Christian charity" but give them grief.

This type of stuff moves the Overton Window, and in case people have not noticed it is moving fast in our direction. Saying "America is for Americans" would have gotten people drummed out of society five years ago, now it is becoming commonplace. America is for Americans, our ancestors built it for us as our home, not as some third-world dumping ground or jobs programs.

Things will only change when good people of all colors say enough is enough, and stop acting like timid cowards denying the truth. Thankfully, many are rising to the occasion.

The Portland saga alone had me howling — “mostly peaceful” my tail.

And that property tax piece? Bless him for dragging that old scam into the sunlight. I could see the "handwriting on the wall" in the early 1980's when, bit by bit, I lost clients because they were shuttering their manufacturing facilities to move their equipment (they sold at a loss) to offshore producers. I thought to myself then...are these upper management people that STUPID to RAPE our country's prized manufacturing prowess just to beef up their "bottom line"??? Well...you know the answer to that query, don't you, friends.

Then...in 2000...upon the birth of my first grandsugar ( I moved lock, stock and barrel from our home in PA to Palm Springs, CA to be close to my son, DIL and new grandchild) I had the 'germ of an idea" to invent and produce a safer version of the 'baby carrier' that I used for my children back in the '60's and '70's. Well...when I got to the actual "sourcing of baby gear manufacturers" - everyone with whom I consulted (product designers, marketing gurus, etc.) pointed me to CHINA. I was livid--there was NO WAY I was going to have my "See Shell Baby Carrier Seat" made by a totalitarian country who suppressed ALL FREEDOMS of their citizens. There had to be some way I could get the See Shell mfd. right here in the good ole U.S.A. Of course, the original numbers crunching revealed the labor costs were much lower offshore--but I could foresee the other difficulties (transportation costs and the language barrier in dealing with Chinese manufacturing contact people) more than offset the "labor costs" bugaboo. I went with a New England manufacturer for the tubular steel handle and attaching the handle to the plastic seat. The plastic seat manufacturer is in WI and I still use them to make just the seat portion which now has been used in a pediatric scales mfd. here in MO by a scales mfr. called Cardinal-Detecto Scale Co.

HOORAY for "Making America Make Things Again"!!

Manufacturing: I am still mad at politicians who decided to trash jobs here in the US because it didn't affect them. For example, York, PA was the home for manufacturing Pfaltzgraff pottery/dishes for over 200 years when NAFTA was passed and the plant shut down and moved to Mexico. My Aunt who was a supervisor had to train her replacements in Mexico. The plant was the major employer for the town and without it, the town lost a piece of its soul. The kilns there had to be run 24/7/365. I remember during a blizzard my grandmother made chicken soup to feed the skeleton crew that was keeping the fires going. My aunt lost her job as well as her husband. The whole trajectory of their lives changed all because some elites decided that we didn't need manufacturing in the US.

Margot Wooster's avatar

Grrr! Those elites were part of the deep state/globalist cabal that has been revealed over these past few years. Evil skeevy bastages. Praise God for President Trump and other patriots who are doing something about it!

Proves that all of us have the protential to be deceived. I was listening to Rush Limbaugh shortly before he had to leave his show because of cancer. He had realized that the RINO-UniParty (including the Bush family) had used him to push their agenda knowing that if Rush told conservatives, we would believe him.

ElRushbo lost me when began pushing NAFTA-GATT as a good thing back around 1990. I still listened occasionally because he was the cleanest shirt in the basket and had a wickedly funny sense of humor, but always with awareness that he was capable of making globalism sound like Paradise...

Robin Greer's avatar

Or as susceptible to deception as the rest of us. I miss him and a local radio personality that died during COVID. His name was Phil Valentine. He also had a great sense of humor. He was the reason I enjoyed my commute home from week each day.

Judge Karin Immergut. Isn't that special. Another Karen whose name means "always well". In this case, she is not well. Trump has the authority. I think this is leading to the firm calling of the Insurrection Act.

dancingtime's avatar

Most likely recommended by a RINO who he unfortunately trusted. Never forget what was going on in Trump 1.0...a live 24/7 coup attempt.

Yep. He admitted he was unknowingly relying on the advice of those with ill intent towards his success.

CMCM's avatar

Yes, in Trump's defense, imagine being an outsider coming into a megalithic government and needing to make untold numbers of appointments. There's no way Trump could know anything at all about the majority of them, and he had to rely on advice from what turned out to be untrustworthy people.

JBell's avatar

Yep .... that's how we got Christopher Wray (Chris Christie pal) and Amy Coney-Barrett.

Excellent comment. Truth is truth

Johnny-O's avatar

Or it is all by design. Trump was/is a reality tv star after all.

dancingtime's avatar

Don't be silly. Trump was a CEO of private enterprise. Anyone who worked for the company knew their roles and the limits of their authority. He walked into a vipers nest living under the illusion of the same parameters of employment that happens in the private sector.

If you have never worked for the government with the civilian attitude of "long after you are gone, I will still be here", then there is no way on earth that you could possibly understand what he was in. If you have never had staff who did not understand the limits of their own authority and where that authority came from, then you can never understand what was going on in trump 1.0. If you have never had staff knifing you in the back, then you are still incapable of understanding.

I have done all but my experience was on a smaller level. Trump trusted people who smiled to his face and knifed him in the back.

I would say that he knew he would be betrayed by deep state actors and the useful idiots who carry water (and pens) for them, but that he was probably amazed at how deeply broken and corrupted the system was. But part of the larger plan is to put the spotlight on those whose corruption needs to be thrust out into the light of day, and the rotten system overall. Sometimes a "loss" is a "win" if given enough time...

Remember that old song about the back-stabbers?

But I thought he was a 10 dimensional chess player who was taking down the deep state? Its a joke.

You're either a dimwitted blackpiller, or a troll spreading your FUD. The fact that you're here in this thread space spewing crap like that, has me thinking it's the latter.

I saw that, from his first term.

Under the advice of whom? Always curious who he was leaning on at the time. He can't know everything.

How could he have with a made up name like that? He thought he could figure it out himself last time. He might still but he's garnered a better troop so far.

If we can send the NATIONAL Guard to Iraq and Afghanistan, we can sure as hell send it to PORTLAND. Please bring back insane asylums with daily pickup service.

Can't help but think about the Martha's Vineyard National Guard deployment when a handful of illegals/asylum seekers showed up and were deported out of there in a day or two. It was weird to watch the natives expressing love and support while simultaneously booting them out.

Can people sue their county governments over having to continually pay property taxes? Has anyone ever done it? Could there be a class action for it? Property taxes are so out of control. In Texas (maybe other states too) homeowners also have to pay PID and MUD taxes in newly developed areas making taxes for a $300,000 as high as 6%!!! It is insane. MUDs can drop off. PIDS never do. One homeowner is suing because the PID was never disclosed to him! Americans need real relief and I think this is one road to getting that.

Becky's avatar

What chaps my hide is that well over three fourths of our property tax bill goes to the schools. And of course, “education.” It’s right there on the tax bill. So we pay big to have public schools not only churn out woke zombies, but “transitioning” zombies as well.

Debra Jackson's avatar

The property tax on homeowners for government schools has got to be refigured. I had my child in private school paying tuition and was taxed to fund government schools. I haven’t had a child in school for over 20 years. Why am I paying for someone else’s kids? If kids aren’t being taught the basics, shouldn’t the teachers be fired and tax payers refunded?

Becky's avatar

Some states will issue money to homeschooling parents in surprisingly large amounts, but private school not so much. Not an area I know much about, but definitely worth looking into.

SYFY's avatar

but always with a ton of strings attached....

CMCM's avatar

Schools is the excuse, IMO. I live in a N. California foothills county that is predominantly older and retired people with no kids in any schools any more. There are kids here, but few enough that quite a few schools have closed in the last 10 years. But they keep collecting and raising taxes based on the schools, as well as firefighting costs (that part is OK).

Becky's avatar

I think the trope is that it’s in everyone’s interest to have a good education system, even if not everyone has kids in it. But that belief has bloated into the schools having too much $$$ and leeway to scourge our kids with bad teaching and with indoctrination. Horrifyingly, I learned of a fourth-grade girl here locally “transitioning” to “male.” Horrifying. I’m in Washington State though. Being horrified at this is not allowed.

In my area property taxes pay for services that you may or may not use because you live there - schools, libraries, fire districts, transportation (the local bus), etc. The citizens voted for those with bonds. In case you argue this point, you might not use a service, but you pay for it because you potentially could. Most of us don’t use the bus service, but we voted for it because the people who can’t afford a car use it to get to work. This is the West coast. So how does your area work, if your taxes don’t pay for services like this, how do they get paid?

Bleonard3's avatar

As states and local governments properly passed laws re: real estate taxes, I do not know how a lawsuit could argue against paying unless perhaps the laws somehow violate state constitution.

Sue Kelley's avatar

It's funny that in the town they are putting in thousands of apartments. Apt dwellers typically have school aged children and use all the same infrastructure yet pay no property taxes and vote to increase school taxes. Perhaps the answer is a usage tax for those that rent?. Even the playing field a little for people like Juju, who can't retire because they can't afford the taxes.

Watch how quickly people stop voting for tax increases when it takes money out of their own pocket.

Dolce Far Niente's avatar

All landlords roll the cost of property taxes in with all their other costs when assessing what the rental rate will be.

Believe me, renters pay property taxes, just not first hand.

If you’re like every other place, then it was voted in, bond issues to fund local services. Are you going to sue yourself for voting it in?
