Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you. Be of sober spirit, be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. But resist him, firm in the faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished among your brethren who are in the world. And after you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself restore, strengthen, confirm, and ground you. To Him be might forever and ever. Amen.

— 1 Peter 5:6-11 NAS

Our son is autistic. I see the connection between autism and vaccinations; my wife, not so much. Every day that I watch our beautiful son struggle with things that should be simple, and that are simple, for the majority of people, I get angry. I get “Falling Down” angry. Our son is a wonderful, loving boy who’ll be seven next month. He’s of higher than average intelligence, yet we often joke amongst ourselves that we’re going to have to build him a tiny home behind our house so that he’ll always be close enough to us so that when he needs help, we can be there. The sad fact is that she and I won’t always be there. At some point in his life he’ll be without us, and that scares me to death. On a positive note, it’s a spectrum, and he’s on the lower end of it. He’s not nearly as disabled as many children who’re afflicted by this condition. So we just plod along. I suppose we’re extremely fortunate that I’m retired from both the PD and the Guard so I’m able to be home with him every day, and since she works from home, he’s never really without us.
