“…the media’s malfeasance means many Americans in this country who might have been rescued will die instead.”

And that alone has had me riding a wave of rage nonstop all week. All day yesterday on X every firsthand account from the ground in NC was sabotaged by posts claiming it was fake news and if it were true then the media would be covering it. They claim that FEMA WAS helping and we are all in a cult of misinformation. Even with video accounts showing otherwise they spread that it’s false. And many believe that BECAUSE of the lack of MSM coverage.. It’s beyond infuriating. It’s criminal in every way. I only see them as traitors now.

I could not agree more. I have been heartbroken to follow all the stories on social media of DC’s unwillingness to do anything. It’s hard to know what is true and what is being foisted on social media from so many directions. I am enraged and have been for over 4 years at what corporate media has done to our country. They are the single biggest purveyors of how we got here. Too many of my generation have trusted the media to bring truth and though many suspect they are being lied to, they have gone off into camps, trusting one media over others.

I tried to convince myself this was a natural phenomenon, but I can no longer convince myself that this hurricane was not turbo charged at just the right spots for just such an outcome. This WAS the October surprise that came a few days early. I never thought I would thank an Elon Musk for anything but I thank him for keeping Helene’s disaster efforts front and foremost, and I hope Politico goes back to the demonic world it came from. That’s how angry I am.

LMWC, you’ve echoed my thoughts exactly. I’m horrified, outraged and heartbroken at the accounts of FEMA apparently showing up to HAMPER rescue and recovery operations. This story should be ALL the news…this atrocity should be broadcast by everyone in this nation who has a voice.

And I had that exact thought this morning…THIS, the hurricane, is the October surprise, and it’s a doozy.

I’m praying for God’s army of angels to come to our aid: our frail human efforts are too little for a battle of this magnitude. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

No , it is not hard to know what is true.

My parents lived in Hendersonville for the 13 years before they died, "halfbacks" from Florida . I got to know many people there , many of whom were wonderful caretakers for them. I can tell you the people of western NC are the salt of the earth, some of the most decent, hard working, unselfish people I have ever known. Appalachia was founded by poor Scots and other tough as nails immigrants. Look at the faces of the people posting these videos. Listen to their voices. These are genuine , severely distressed people. Compare them to the crisis actors at false flags speaking on monotone, calling for gun control hours after "their daughter " was murdered, or caught laughing on camera before they went live. The horror stories they are telling you are real. Don't fall for the disinfo claptrap. Stay angry. Stay enraged. I'm almost begging for some Caramel supporter to say something, anything , to open the door for me to shred them, though I know it would be to no avail.

These stories are true. I know families that live local and have people in N.C. What is happening is beyond horrible. There really are people that are dead in houses and everywhere else with no recovery. FEMA is taking housing for their people and preventing rescue and supply delivery. They, FEMA, are present in cities like Ashville but are totally absent in outlying areas. As an example, people in Marshall, NC are running out of food and supplies. No clothes, blankets for the coming cold. No electricity. Find people that are boots on the ground and get supplies to them. Cajun Navy is out helping again. Shame on congress for passing money for Israel, Lebanon, Taiwan and of course the Ukraine. All of those countries we have given untold monies to..where are they when we have a need?

Righteous anger has its place too. That righteous anger might be the only thing that leads to positive changes. I feel forgiveness is misunderstood. It's not about forgetting the transgressions and accepting them. I think forgiveness is more about understanding God's Big Picture and each one's role in it, including the transgressors. That takes time and contemplation.

I know these people in the mountains are devastated. But living in Michigan, and not being on X, I can only know what is going on by fb, and substacks. Fb is flooded with tik toks of women sitting in cars trying to explain how bad it is. I have no idea where they are because quite often they don’t say. There are numerous videos showing the flooding. There are others showing military transport planes, claiming FEMA has arrived and getting help out. There are other pictureless pieces claiming semi’s lined up in the hundreds unable to unload at designated drop zones, FEMA agents telling them to wait in other places and to clear the roads or they will ticket them. These pieces claim they are validated but who knows?

We have an area church gathering supplies to take down next week, but I am concerned they’ll be turned away as well, as the media pivots to the next “thing”. I am angry because we have no voice to shout our outrage. It’s hard to be heartened by the acts of courage, (and they are so many), when the media will say nothing. It is as if a whole region doesn’t count, and the goodness of Americans to help other Americans is drowned out, completely. The evil that is now our Federal government just makes me lose hope.

I have 4 friends working on their over-a century-old family cottage in Flat Rock, NC trying to get their lane cleared from downed trees. One, a staunch Dem living in Asheville (power but no water still) said he was 'impressed' with FEMA's response. His niece, the owner of record for the cottage, does not agree. There seems to be a problem with "distribution of funds". Anyway, Dems will see this response as they want to see it. The cognitive dissonance of what they know and what they want to know must be staggering.

Just a basic, general statement:

Most North Americans are Christians and share their Holy Book with Jews.

Muslims , otoh, are the enemies - because their number one raison d’être is to destroy every Jew and Christian and to spread their cult over the entire world. If you lived, as Israelis do, with vicious wolverines situated all around you intent on killing you, no matter how innocent, so that you need every last bit of defence to protect you and your family if you stepped outside unguarded. Think on this please. Muslims must hate and destroy all Jews and Christians - if they follow their religion. They are not another branch of Christianity as some suppose. They know little of brotherly love and forgiveness.

Expand full comment
Bluebird's avatar

Marsha, I believe you have a distorted view of the situation. Not sure where you get your info but it's not from our Prince of Peace. Personally I don't think Christians should view any other peoples as enemies. Did Jesus ever teach that? Absolutely not. Secondly, how many Muslims do you know? I know several, and they are among the kindest people I have ever encountered. Third, I have more Jewish friends than any other ethnicity, and all of them abhor the treatment of the Palestinians by Israel. I do feel compassion for the Israeli innocent citizens caught in the middle. It must be terrifying. It is also terrifying to the innocent Palestinian citizens. WE ARE ALL GOD'S CHILDREN, and it is evil to kill civilians, I don't care what their religion is.

What we REALLY want Trump to do is ABSOLISH most of these acronym 'bureaus' and 'agencies'.

Your comment reminds me of one an ex friend said decades ago after a friend of mine that he had never met before bought our dinner. I only knew him from a two week dive boat trip. When I said to my ex friend " that was really nice of him to buy us dinner", his reply was "Well, he can afford it". That was his excuse for not even having the manners to thank him. He was our age, in his 30's, and his parents had died and left him enough to not have to work again. Years later, I asked my wife if she remembered this incident. She said she did. We never spoke of it at the time. Needless to say, he was a flaming Bolshevik from the day I met him in college. Still is. Lives in Berkeley.

I’m not sure this is fair? Anyone coming to my front door would assume we have enough money to bail ourselves out of rough times or disasters. It’s in a wealthy neighborhood. We simply don’t have the money to afford living here anymore but we can’t afford to move either. We’ve been here a really long time before prices grew to nosebleed values. It didn’t cost much when we bought it. My husband works 6 days a week 12 hours days and we struggle to make ends meet and can’t afford to save any money from any weekly paycheck. We barely can afford the real estate taxes and haven’t been able to do repairs to our home, like our roof. My husband’s pay increases have been less than 1.3% every year for the past 20 years yet inflation has been ungodly. So looking at our home and our yard (which we pay no one to maintain and painstakingly do all the perfectionist work ourselves, at ages of 59,) would think we are well off. We aren’t. We couldn’t survive a catastrophe and we would lose our home and everything, and be unable to replace it. Don’t judge a book by its cover.

Well, given that access is nearly impossible in some of the hardest hit areas, the last thing aid workers need is a bunch of reporters getting in the way. But the vast majority of these 'on the ground' reports are not accompanied by any photos or videos backing their claims. Not saying it's not awful, but I am also wondering if this is an effort to push people over the edge. Stories of militias forming and such, making me think they are TRYING to stir the pot.

Oh pleeeeeze. You watch your child and grandparents float away dead after the roof on the house collapses and try to grab a video or photo in the midst of that heartache, even days later when confronted with a corrupt government while you are broken and starving. People aren’t thinking like that, and I’d question their sanity if they were able to grab real time video while being so heartbroken and beaten down. Some of the “looters” forming are actually people who haven’t ate or drank anything for 7-8 days! Starving people will resort to whatever harsh tactics they need to survive, and our government is betting on that unrest. I’ve listened to reports by area residents pleading with people to stop calling them hoodlums and looters because they compassionately understand what is actually happening. You cannot judge these people or their stories from an armchair. I trust the word of those in the thick of it ANY day over the media, government, or doubters who are not in their shoes.

But I will try with the $750 thing...that is an immediate cash grant, for food, whatever, immediate needs. That's not the end of the financial assistance. At the same time you are applying for the upfront cash grant, you are also applying for other programs for housing assistance, repairs, etc, that are not immediate cash grants for obvious reasons. You also will need to contact your home insurer to file claims, and that payout is factored into assistance applications.

Isn't the main purpose of FEMA to issue government backed loans? They do not do search and rescue. That seemingly should have been a National Guard or regular military operation and the military branches should have been ready to move in as soon as the weather conditions were safe for rescue operations to begin. I know that the Corps of Engineers is also involved because that's their job in disasters that cause extensive infrastructure damage - that is one of their missions. The infrastructure issues will take a great amount of time because of the extent of the damage. But the delay in rescue and getting aid to residents is inexcusable.

Remember this:

To be GOVERNED is to be watched, inspected, spied upon, directed, law-driven, numbered, regulated, enrolled, indoctrinated, preached at, controlled, checked, estimated, valued, censured, commanded, by creatures who have neither the right nor the wisdom nor the virtue to do so. To be GOVERNED is to be at every operation, at every transaction noted, registered, counted, taxed, stamped, measured, numbered, assessed, licensed, authorized, admonished, prevented, forbidden, reformed, corrected, punished. It is, under pretext of public utility, and in the name of the general interest, to be placed under contribution, drilled, fleeced, exploited, monopolized, extorted from, squeezed, hoaxed, robbed; then, at the slightest resistance, the first word of complaint, to be repressed, fined, vilified, harassed, hunted down, abused, clubbed, disarmed, bound, choked, imprisoned, judged, condemned, shot, deported, sacrificed, sold, betrayed; and to crown all, mocked, ridiculed, derided, outraged, dishonored. That is government.

That's why this Orwell 1984 tee is perfect for these times 👇

Well, I have to say, Thank God I'm in Tennessee and not North Carolina. The state and local response to the devastation here has been fantastic. National Guard still here a week later clearing debris, cutting downed trees, clearing roads and air dropping supplies to cut off communities. Our Senators are getting us a temporary bridge to restore access to communities completely severed. Our governor has been on the ground, even touring my neighborhood. There has been no confiscating of donations, no turning away volunteers. The donations are so voluminous they've taken over Bristol Motor Speedway as a distribution hub. FEMA has just showed up in the last day or so. They are only here to process claims and inspect properties. Our state and county government has done everything for our citizens. My heart goes out to all in North Carolina 💔 who obviously aren't getting the service and attention we in Tennessee have had. 🙏 Also, a huge THANK YOU to the folks from all around our nation who have donated to help us here in Appalachia. FEMA told him that since the FAA wasn’t involved, they’d have to shut down. He basically told them to f-off and kept right on doing what he was doing. I am sure that I am not the only one who immediately picked out the weasel wording of Pete whatsisname; "(the) FAA doesn't block legitimate rescue and recovery flights". What is left unmentioned is just what exactly is a 'legitimate flight' in their eyes. Not that we need to spend much time on that, it is clear that such are theirs and only theirs, since they are trying to shut down anything else. Despite the fact that they are doing little to nothing that is actually helping anybody.

The only reason that anything was done about this is because Musk called him out publicly, in a way that couldn't be ignored and/or memory-holed by the media. Therefore, something was done to change the egregious behavior of FEMA and its publicly funded employees, to allow private citizens to do something to save lives that the government doesn't care about, and is clearly willing to let die.

No matter how much you hate the government, it isn't enough.

Expand full comment

"legitimate" is code for "our friends who we give government money to"

Consider all the FEMA money pushed out the door for settling "newcomers" in the US. It's meant to make friends for bigger government run by Democrats, and keep those friends onside voting Democrat, using public money.

They don't want money spent charitably by private individuals; they want charity to be provided by the government so that friends can be rewarded, and enemies punished.

However, the day will come when they cringe and snivel about how they didn't mean anything, that they were just 'following orders'. It may occur in the afterlife, although I'll say that I would not mind in the least also being able to see it before then.

Take note of the pattern of energized NexRad towers in this video. Starting before Helene came ashore, the towers in the central part of the country, which typically are not energized at night, light-up actively pushing the rain over the Appalachian Mountains. NOTE that the towers on the east coast do not light up (and typically they DO light up at night) to allow the rain to be pushed east on top of the mountain range. By the time Helene came ashore the mountains were already saturated with water. Then the towers in the central part of the country really light up to keep Helene tracking up the mountain range causing the flood. Again... note that the east coast towers do not light up thus allowing the system to be pushed into their direction over the mountain range.

Once you see it you can't unsee it.

Thank you for bringing up the crime (and more noteworthy sin) of usury. The Bible speaks of periodic jubilees where all debts were forgiven. The notion that someone can be enslaved for decades, or even a lifetime, of debt is deeply immoral.

Think about how nineteen YOs are manipulated to go into debt, often for hundreds of thousands, for paltry income-earning degrees. These people then have this debt for decades and it cannot be discharged in bankruptcy. The same predatory practices are used with credit cards. My twenty YO son gets unsolicited credit card offers every week (they go straight from the mailbox to the shredder.)

Anyone who has listened to Dave Ramsey has heard call after call of people who thought they were doing the right thing, and now are at their wits end. They were targeted by deeply predatory practices at a young age to enslave them in debt.

The fact is that not everyone had wise parents that taught their kids to avoid debt, and figured out how to pay for a college education (or vocational training) without debt. These young adults were systematically targeted by a corrupt, unethical, and highly predatory industry to make them debt slaves for the rest of their life. This isn't what any of us signed up to defend when we became conservatives.

God bless President Trump for taking this on, and I hope he goes after the student loan scam too. No this doesn't mean dumping the loans on the taxpayers. But it does mean forcing the banks that made these loans to take the hit. It also means going after university endowments (often in the billions) who talked gullible kids into taking on mountains of debt that they could never hope to pay back.

President Trump gets it, unlike virtually every other boomer Republican out there.

Expand full comment
Marilynne Martin's avatar

It has to be said. You have spouted every phrase from the Victimology Playbook.

It wasn't the banks who did this to us. Everyone go now to your bathroom, stand in front of the mirror, and you will see the culprit staring back at you.

Nobody made these kids fill out a credit card application and go to the store and buy things they clearly can't afford. But who taught them the fun of credit card spending? Most likely the parents who paid for their gas by giving them a card.

The parents got fooled by the schools which told them all kids needed college. Did not any of them do a cost/benefit analysis? No, many screamed for extra help for their kiddies to get at colleges. Unheard of in my boomer generation.

I am a boomer and when I was a kid I went to my parents with something in the paper that said it was "free". My Mom would always tell me that if it says its free, run for the hills, its a scam. She also didn't care what Johnny or Jane down the block got. The answer was no, we couldn't afford it.

The globalist freaks learned how to increase their revenue lines by socializing all the costs to the American public. Not through taxes, but in the products we buy. I have been telling people to pay cash for over a decade. The response is, sorry, I get free miles or cash back from my credit card company. They bought our souls piece by piece. Every credit card purchase raise the prices of good 3-5% and puts it right into the hands of Rothschild, BlackRock Vanguard et al.

Expand full comment
Jeff C's avatar

Deleted my earlier comment as it was too harsh.

The reason these loans were unheard of in your boomer generation is that they didn't exist. The banks lobbied for the changes that legalized usury (predatory lending) and made it so school loans could not be discharged in bankruptcy. Those are facts.

The idea that an 19 year old can sign up for hundreds of thousands in loans, despite having shown no ability to repay them, is absurd. Banks have an obligation to only loan to those who can repay them, they don't get to make people debt slaves for life. (This is outright condemned in the Bible where usury laws originated.) This type of thing used to be illegal, that's why boomers didn't fall for it, not because of some supposed moral or intellectual integrity.

You had wise parents, many people don't. Your inability to put yourself in the place of others, and understand how they were systematically manipulated, is why Boomers have such a bad reputation.

Expand full comment
Marilynne Martin's avatar

No one made them sign that loan agreement. Predatory schemes are as old as the hills.

Yes, I had good parents. My Dad had a small plumbing business, no work, no pay. And many times throughout my childhood there was no work or scarcely any.

Boomers have a bad rep because they didn't invoke the tough love that they got from their parents with their children. Oh Johnny can't work through college. Why? The parents did.

But you miss the point. The point is when you read your comment you are placing blame for all our woes on someone else. And we can't do that. We need to understand how WE played a part in all that is wrong in this world. We did it to ourselves. It is so crucial to understand because we don't heal and reverse course until we acknowledge our role in all of this.

You are right about banking. My first job was in a bank. Credit was carefully checked. What happened? Well some politicians complained about too much regulations and they did a lot of deregulation to that banking industry in the late 70's and 80"s. And now you have an oligarchy of sorts. And your hard earned money is seriously at risk today for a Cyprus event.

BUT, when the latest scam came along within these last 10 years called PACE - Property Assessed Clean Energy Loans - after a month of sending out e-mails warning "patriots" of this scam to be approved - no one showed up but me and the two friends I dragged there. So the Commission approved it and these loans are put on the tax rolls taking priority status above mortgages! So when they don't pay the loan, the people can lose their homes. PGT is happy, they are selling more high resistant windows.

Probably the one most stupidest things we followed was "don't talk politics or religion". That is the only thing we should have been talking about.

Regarding this generation you claim I don't have empathy for? Well my empathy will rise when they stop paying $5 plus dollars for Starbucks coffee and get rid of their $600 iphones with $200/monthly service fees. We need to teach them priorities.
