I hope I don’t need to say it, but I will: Every death is a tragic one. [Please observe a solemn and sincere moment of silence for the dearly departed.] But compare the novel marsupialpox to, say, obesity—which kills 4.72 million people around the globe annually—or starvation— which causes 9 million heartbreaking deaths—or tuberculosis—which sends 1.3 million souls to the afterlife every year—or even anemia (low iron)—which snuffs out 6,021 lives in the US alone every twelve months—and it certainly makes one wonder what criteria the WHO is using to define an “emergency.”
Well, exacerbated by DEI hires but certainly was in full swing for years before. Trouble is that most of the malpractice isn't seen as malpractice but simply as unfortunate side effects of usually effective and safe treatment (that just happened to not be safe *this* time for *this* person), or bad guidelines that when followed actually make people sick (food pyramid and the cholesterol hypothesis for heart disease being two prime illustrations), and doctors blaming patents' bad outcomes ontheir bad genetics and/or not following The Guidelines well enough rather than stepping back to consider that perhaps The Guidelines are not all that good for promoting health.
just read a few months ago that neither high blood pressure pills, nor cholesterol pills, nor cancer treatments, prolong life. Dr Marik said a while ago, that diabetes is largely a hoax as well (some reports state that 75 % of people have diabetes - which probably means there is something wrong with the measuring of it)
Diabetes seems to be a legitimate concern. The reason so many folks have it is that humans were not designed to consume factory-made fats (veg oils - canola, soy, safflower, sunflower, cottonseed, etc) not highly processed carbs (grains, sugars, all the breakfast cereals, high fructose corn syrup, corn syrup, etc). The Food Pyramid created our current epidemic of obesity, insulin resistance (which is the root problem in Type 2 diabetes), and heart disease (which is caused by inflammation most often from the inflammatory foods we consume and from insulin resistance).
So the problem with diabetes is the dumb@$$ dietary advice given to everyone. My spouse reversed their pre-diabetes in a month after switching from a "heart healthy" diet to a low carb high fat diet with natural fats instead of the veg oils. Almost everyone on the planet could do this. However, it is unknown to most physicians, doesn't fill the coffers of the drug companies or public health institutions, and does in fact require a somewhat dissident stance against the current food culture (think dealing with church potlucks, birthday parties, family gatherings, etc; let alone a new way of grocery shopping and a willingness to spend more at the grocery store so one doesn't have to eventually spend more at the drugstore).
Was advised to get and read a book back in about 1996 or so. Ener the Zone by Barry Sears. He bloes the lid off the bogus US government'fed standard dietary "recommendations". I'd been in forced sofa spud mode for eight years due to a debilitaing injury.. had gained 30 pounds, no energy, hrt everywhere, life sucked. As I read through the first third or so the light came on.. I'd had four years of premed biology/science, and everything this guy said bore witness to what I'd learned there. He lays down simple rules for re-balancing your diet, cleaning out all the Big "Food" garbage the government promotes, provides an easy to implement system for balancing the three macronutrients every time you eat. ONLY following his suggestions and making no other changes, I lost thirty pounds in two minths, had energy I'd not had since before the hurt, and was able to get active again. Been eating per his plan in all the years since. I have worn the same size clothes I did when I graduated high school mid-sixties since this change, was able to get back on my road bike and do some amazing ling distance rides.
I walk right past the "middle aisles" at the grocery store, when at friend's homes I select the right stuff from whats in the plattera and leave the nonsense there. CHurch potlucks are often more of a challenge, but there are usually enough "safe" things I do not starve nor do I beark out of my chosen eating habits.
Tried to tell a friend with four adult children still at home about the dangers of the processed oils. He blew me off. ALL his kids are overweigth to obese, as are he and his Wife. They WILL NOT abandn the sickening processed oils. Two weeks after I tried to tell him, including the consequences he went into hospital.. gall bladder blowing up. AGAIN. I fear I shall be called upon to lay him into his own tomb because he refuses to change.... I'm ten years older than he, he can only moslty sit about and painfully move around, gets winded walking acorss a room. IF he would change his diet he'd be a different man in two months. Sad..... he DID work for government for many decades prior to his early retirement.
ADD ANOTHER item to the things we've been lied and manipulated about: NUTRITION ... or what constitutes a nutritious diet.
MOST items on the supermarket shelves are poison, we need to start reading ingredient labels to find out what we are choosing to put into our bodies. Yes, it's a choice! We have been manipulated into thinking that just bc the label claims it, it's true... on the contrary, IF the label claims it... DOUBT it!
We need to go back to less PROCESSED foods and more natural; THINK oranges or apples instead of OJ or highly sweetened apple juice. THINK crunchy fresh vegetables instead of potato or "veggie" chips.
CONSIDER making your own yogurt to store bought, sugar laden ones regardless of what the labels say!

since Covid and the vaxx I can't even imagine the number of deaths and disabilities. I have recently been scrutinizing meds lists of those I love and have had to remove some. Hope all here saw that benzene was allowed in the generic guaifenesin/dextromethorphan which is name brand mucinex. It was allowed by our dear FDA..... and was to be phased out in 2025..... but they extended their deadline. Benzene is so toxic and carcinogenic..... but nothing surprises me any longer. Please be aware that most of our pharmaceuticals are now made in China. I only pray I am mistaken on any of these particulars and please feel free to refute it if I have presented inaccurate information. Thank you.
I complained to Sen. Casey (D-PA) last year because one of the blood pressure medications the VA sent me was made in China. The manufacturer and location was still on the original label.

No wonder we never went to the Dr growing up. Dad was a minister and the salary was small country church salary. We got all the childhood diseases(?) infections (?) and lived. The only one that missed us was the mumps that I got from my younger 2 siblings when I was in nursing school. Regular doctors , most of them, are as stupid as dirt. Our general practice doctor said he did research and the Death Injections were safe and effective. All he did for 'research' is read the Pharma literature and that was it. He also believed the Fraud Scamdemic was real. I have never had the VA push the COVID vaccine and I go quite often. I was asked once this year if I got the flu shot and that is all. VA does a lot of things I don’t approve of but pushing vaccines is not one of them.

What VA do you use? I have been to Hampton, Va both hospital and dental, Virginia Beach clinic, Pensacola VA Hospital and Eglin VA clinic. The only thing that was annoying was having to get a PCR test for COVID every time I went to the Hampton VA at the high of COVID… however, they were very organized and quick. The issues I am seeing with the VA is the loop holes that the doctors have to jump through since Biden has gotten in office. I’ve had two doctors and a dentist talk about it because they are frustrated with all the paperwork and the long lead times. veterans are not getting the care they need because of it.
I’ve been to 4 different ones (2 in Virginia and 2 in Florida). I’ve seen more 4 Doctors and Dentist and none of them have push it and most have not even asked if I have taken the shot. Maybe it is the VA that you go to. As long as the government has it available, it will be available at the VA. So children younger than 15 are overlapping with mostly gay and bisexual men?!! What is this hell? I gotta wonder and I gotta ask. Although I'm sure I won't be told how to dissect that bit of data.

I was fuming a bit at the authors of that article, ALL the Fake News authors, and the WHOLE Fauci crowd in general, as they try to spin their webs and practice their narrative deceit without detection by critical thinkers.
In the first wave of mpox and the 'news' about it, I read an article and its comments below. Telling me about a "mostly gay" couple of men who somehow infected their dog, and I don't believe it was just from letting their dog sleep on the covers of the bed. But what do I know? Do I want to know?
Sure, I can imagine some merely irresponsible and thoughtless, while less maniacal, ways transmission of the disease could have happened to man's best friend. (Full disclosure: I have two cats AND I like dogs, but I digress...)
For instance, MAYBE the dog licked up something they (hahaha, see there, I said 'they' for one dog, which is what some people do when they don't know if an animal, is a 'he' or a 'she' -- grammarly shocking, I know -- and they do it with babies, too), ...the dog licked up something he or she (still sounds wrong and overly wordy, verbose even if repeated several times in the same piece of writing), ...something it (no, too impersonal even for a dog), ...something THAT POOR DOG shouldn't have licked up, as dogs sometimes do, but WOW...
AND I've also read arrest stories about how some maniacs are still practicing the bestiality fetish (paraphelia?), really animal abuse, in the 2020s; one maniac even... oh, never mind; I read it in the 'news'-- and not in some pruient novel (which I do not read), or in the Bible (which I do read, and for those who haven't, there are no stories about the details; but in the Bible, it definitely says that animals should NOT have sex with humans (see what I did there?). [Leviticus 18:23 - Do not have sexual relations with an animal and defile yourself with it.]
A little humor goes a long way when the stomach is all twisted up from reading about freakish things people do in their real lives. And sometimes not just to each other, but to dogs and other animals, and children, who actually cannot give their consent in any way, shape or form - ethically, morally, or legally, IMO (which I strongly believe is the right opinion, as do you I believe).
I love animals. I sometimes wonder if I'm violating some commandment or something when I rub my cat's belly. I listened to the entire Flynn interview. I agree with him. BUT, what I wish he would stop doing is beating around the bush about election manipulation. Root Cause: To say that 524 people perished from mpox is a bit of a misnomer. Even if everything that is surmised about mpox were 100% accurate, the root cause is not the disease itself but rather the behavior that resulted in the disease. One wonders what is the number of people that died as the result of a deviant and promiscuous sexual lifestyle and all of the factors that go along with it? It is said that those that take vitamins are healthier than those that do not. But the refrain "Correlation is NOT Causation" goes in both directions. Could it be, perhaps, that vitamin takers simply live a healthier lifestyle?
I dropped my Wall Street Journal subscription after almost 2 decades back in 2021 when they refused to cover the stolen 2020 election and the safety and efficacy of the vaccines. Now for the cost of my annual Wall Street Journal subscription, I can subscribe to 10 or 15 independent writers on Substack.
I never subscribed to WSJ, but did subscribe to a "Christian" news mag called World for many years. I cancelled that subscription because they absolutely refused to report on the vaccine harms, or covid harms, for that matter. I wrote and expressed my opinion, but got only a response which essentially said nothing. I also cancelled my subscription to our small, local newspaper because I got tired of constantly being insulted because I was smart enough to refuse the covid shots. The editor wouldn't even allow letters which expressed a different opinion! Ironically, he ended up in the hospital with a blood clot and nearly died, but he's still a diehard (pun intended, though he's not dead yet) vaccine booster and Democrat. I've begun to think Democrats are mentally ill or demon possessed. They can't think logically.
This is an important question. Really important. We need to ride hard on the horse of truth, and oppose ANYONE who is playing fast and loose with the facts.

Vonu, I didn't say ONLY Democrats. Probably not ALL Democrats either, but I can't think of any I've met who don't seem to be, with my brother being one of the most extreme examples. Thankfully, he has estranged himself from me and the 20+ years of his harassment have ended.
Many, maybe most, of the people whose political positions fall on the so-called left-right spectrum seem to think that only Democrats are socialists when all that means is that government is funded by coercive taxation, which everyone on the left-right spectrum supports by cooperating with it. As a libertarian, I think that everything about government should be funded voluntarily by opting in if you want the service, and not using it if you don't. If taxation were voluntary, it would decline in popularity.
They all believed that it was truly a dangerous pandemic. They believed what they were told about the vaccine. It is disheartening, but I understand how the deception they were fed by prominent doctors and scientists could have deceived them.
I was extremely disappointed in him. I really hope he wasn’t in on it. Even if he wasn’t, still disappointed that he didn’t have the discernment to understand what was happening. He lost my respect.

You may be interested in what author Megan Basham has to say in her book Shepards for Sale about the level of leftist influence in "Christian" magazines. (The book was featured here a few days ago). Pushing the COVID narrative, LGBTQ topics, and abortion are just three examples. Basham specifically talks about how Christianity Today has been co-opted and now pushes messages that reflect these views.
Oh yes, John, I bought Megan's book and have already read it. I live near Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and am acquainted with Danny Akin, J.D. Greear, Karen Swallow Prior, Matt Mullins and others who were mentioned in the book. One who isn't mentioned, but perhaps should be, is Walter Strickland, who headed their Kingdom Diversity initiative. SEBTS didn't mandate the covid shots, but strongly urged students and staff to take them. Students working toward some degrees were required to go on international mission trips, for which they had to be vaccinated. Students asked to be allowed to go mission trips which didn't require vaccination. To be fair, I don't know what happened with their request, but I do know they were mocked because they didn't want to be jabbed. I've shared numerous times this message they received from a man named Ryan Hutchinson and will continue to share it, because it is so egregious to me. "I have been fully vaccinated at this point and things are going well. On a positive note, I have started to regrow hair on my head, although it is a glow in the dark green color. I have also found that wearing wide shoes for my right foot accommodates the extra toe that I have grown. Google tells me this is all temporary, so there really isn’t anything to worry about. Also, the good news is that by the end of the writing of this email, all of those side effects I mentioned above have already disappeared and were probably just a figment of my imagination."
Christianity Today sold out years ago to the Left. World mag took its place for a time but they started to develop a kind of journalistic edginess that turned me off. It doesn’t surprise me that they pushed the despicable mainstream narrative re COVID. I sense that they have little or no understanding of globalism and its agenda and prefer to stay safely within the herd of the willfully ill-informed.

Also, when I go to my parents house they still get the WSJ and the local newspaper and have FOX news on all day. They’ll ask me if I want to read the news, while they have their papers spread all across the table as I’m reading substack on my tablet. Then they want to talk about things they’re reading that I learned about a week or two prior. My husband and I laugh about it.

Lots of predictive programming out there. A good example is "Ultra Violet" with Milla Jovovich. Right down to masking in public and a "cure" that requires multiple, regular, life-long injections. Not a great movie, but instructive.

The WSJ is two newspapers - the news section populated mainly by woke young “reporters” who tried to get the editorial section fired a few years back because most of the opinion writers are not woke. Kim Strassel writes in the Opinion section and is one of the writers they petitioned to be fired.

I read the WSJ in my twenties, but I rapidly figured out that the WSJ, Barrons and the Financial Times were not interested in me or how the financial world really works. And that I could do much better with figuring out things on my own. And I haven't read these for some forty-five to fifty years.
People are always suckered into thinking that they 'have to be smart' and that the only way to be smart is to buy information from these rags. The Internet largely sank this boat because you don't need a newspaper now to tell you the high, low and daily settle price of the listings.
I had to buy a subscription to WSJ for an Econ class in college. Never even removed the rubber bands. Waste of money. I think the professor got a % age.

Jeff Chiders urged us to "think critically" a few times in his deconstruction of the WSJ propaganda piece. And he's absolutely right that we should always exercise critical thinking, but it really is simpler that that. Just use your God-given BS detector.
When people are pushing stories that don't make sense, seem wildly implausible on the surface, use appeals to emotion, and directly deflect blame from powerful people with a motive, then they are likely untrue. At best they should be considered hearsay until there's actual evidence.
It boggles my mind how many people don't use this simple heuristic. Jeff Childers did a masterful job taking down the piece for which I'm grateful. But it really wasn't needed as I knew the story was BS just reading the headline, as likely did many here.
There are entire professional fields out there (e.g. journalism, public relations, marketing) designed to use psychological and emotional persuasion techniques to manipulate people to act in the interests of other people. That may be as simple as getting you to buy a car or swaying public opinion on an issue important to powerful interests. The intent is the same, to manipulate you to act in a manner that benefits them rather than you.
Once one can recognize the signs of it then you'll never fall for it again. And there are plenty of people supposedly on our side doing it to, either to sell something or chase clout.
Jeff C, I think you’re right about the BS detector and you correctly named it God-given. I would call this type of insight a spiritual gift, thus millions of people who have no relationship with God - aren’t blessed with a God-given BS detector.
Insightful as always Freebird. I discounted this for a long time mainly out of pride I think (i.e. it was something special about me). I've gradually concluded it's actually comes from the Holy Spirit. That feeling that "this doesn't make sense" or that sense that something is just off about an experience is supernatural in origin.
Much of that also comes from studying the Bible (authored by the Holy Spirit of course) which is the best human psychology book ever written. The difference being that the Bible teaches us to understand psychology so we can be sanctified and kind to others. Compare that to secular psychology which often teaches how to use psychological techniques to manipulate people.
I’ve have the Holy Spirit within me for 49 years. That BS detector baffled my kids when there was no possible way I could have known something or caught something. I always explained that God often guides mothers and unfortunately for them (to their dismay sometimes, LOL) they were being raised by one that believed in God. And it was true - I saw things in my mind while they were lying that I couldn’t possibly have known.
It has even helped me with my health and actually saved my life by giving me a 6th sense in the 11th hour, but not before several years of my life were destroyed by allopathic doctors. Still, I felt the nudge in time.
BUT
I don’t always have that detector go off for politics or news headlines. I’m getting better at it though. I still have a lot to learn about the games they play. In the meantime I get my news from alternative news sources who are better at this than I am.
Please be more respectful to the rest of us that are not as good at detecting journalistic and political BS as you two are. A lot of us have God inside us too, and it’s insulting to listen to you pay yourselves on the back and then try to claim it’s because you have God, so therefore we must not.

I respect what you have to say and you've had great comments on here, but I think you are reacting to something you think I said rather than what I actually said. When we do this it's often an emotional reaction to something we inferred from what others said/wrote. I didn't mean anything by it and apologize if what I wrote came across as boastful and caused offence. It was intended to relay my experience.
I didn’t find anything wrong with you wrote… I actually understood what you were saying about the Holy Spirit. As I relay it, it is as if the Holy Spirit lifts a veil so you can see the evil. I believe you must believe in order for the veil to be lifted and it is not always lifted. It is the will of the Holy Spirit when it is.
Juju, I’d reiterate what Jeff said in his reply to you. That this ability, what we’ve called in slang terms, the BS detector, is a GIFT. As such, it has nothing to do with our own merit or worthiness. We simply recognize that God, our Heavenly Father, loves us…and He gives us good gifts.
If you read 1 Corinthians 12, there are many gifts listed, and believers are given different gifts - he uses the analogy of the body of Christ…hands, feet, eyes, all with a different purpose but making up a functioning body.
And he follows this with what we call the love chapter…1 Corinthians 13 in which he says, The greatest of these is Love.
I love these verses from Ephesians - which tells us that even our Faith is a GIFT from God.
“But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. So we aren’t boasting dear, but rather giving credit where credit is due…to God.
And from what you said, you do indeed have gifts…maybe different ones but certainly the ones you need, because God loves us and gives us what we need.

Well I for one am thankful for Jeff’s taking down of the piece. I hope he continues to do this for us. I have a master’s degree in a technical field so I’m no dumb-downed individual, but I don’t know the journalism field or their tactics with writing stories as well as all of you do. I don’t always catch some of these subtleties, and when I do I don’t always know what they mean. I love these deconstructs because it teaches me more. My lack of inner BS detector is simply coming from a different experience in life than some of you. Thank you Jeff Childers, for understanding and caring about the rest of us who understandably can be fooled or misdirected sometimes. We aren’t morons because of it.
Yeah, I'm grateful for it also, which is why I said "I'm grateful" in my comment. I didn't call anyone morons but questioned why people didn't use heuristics in sorting fake from real more often.
My bigger point (which I probably didn't make clear) is that we all can't run down every one of these stories. There are armies of propagandists out there churning this stuff out and none of us have the time/resources to chase down all the details. If we require a thorough analysis to separate real/fake on every story we'll never get to the bottom of anything and be perpetually misled.
But the good news is that once the BS detector is running you don't have to. Stuff will just intuitively not make sense particularly if it's an emotion-based appeal. Once one recognizes the manipulation techniques then it becomes pretty easy to discount stuff that is obviously propaganda.
Ever hear a commercial along the lines of "How would you feel if something happened to you and it left your family destitute? Could you live with yourself knowing they they may be suffering in the future? That's why you need our life insurance!" This is the kind of stuff I'm talking about. It's everywhere and intended to emotionally manipulate you to do something that benefits others (the people selling the insurance in this case). Once one recognizes it they'll roll their eyes when they hear it.
This story is along the same lines. The headline is sensational and intended to provoke an emotional reaction. It's written like a crime novel designed to draw you into its fiction. It completely ignores the obvious suspects (intel agencies with means, motives, and past threats) and concocts this wild Keystone Kops scenario of a bunch of ne'r-do-wells who got lucky. And most important, it completely deflects attention from the real people who almost certainly did this. It's very similar to the Covid "natural origins" lie used to protect the people who recklessly caused covid.
I obviously don't know you Juju, so this is not aimed at you personally. But I think that many people believe emotional manipulation is a normal part of life so they don't recognize it when it happens. It's not, it's wicked. The lonely mother who says, "after everything I did for you, but now you never visit me!" is using emotional manipulation. It's not normal, decent, loving people don't treat each other like that. But people who have been subjected to that type of stuff their whole lives (as many of us were) are conditioned to it, and then don't recognize it when it's used on a mass scale (as it is in journalism, PR, and marketing).
I might add that having a somewhat plausible explanation that lets us believe the USG is still a white hat entity is a great relief for those who cannot bear to think the USG is corrupt.

Back in the early 2000's I worked for a local tv station in the production department, which meant I worked in the studio during the broadcasts. All the world and US news was pulled off the, then, AP wire, and was inserted in the news scripts almost always verbatim. There was no process to check for accuracy. The only thing worth watching was the weather segment.
Oh, how I wish it were true that one might "never fall for it again." It's so easy to be fooled, and even being educated to the tricks that can be played doesn't necessarily immunize one. Even in the hard sciences, even among professionals acting honestly (or at least, not deliberately being dishonest) pitfalls lurk. One common example is called by various names; we’ll call it Groupthink here. Even in fields or with topics that should have been – or at least could have been – investigated to tough standards demanded by science, doctrinal beliefs can exist for years, decades even, as if it were church dogma, not because would-be reformers haven’t tried to suss out flaws and present new evidence that disconfirms popular assertions. No, a lot of this is groupthink. It’s especially prevalent in specialized academic fields. For example, say, diabetes research. Despite it being a chronic health issue affecting hundreds of millions worldwide, at any given time the number of “Elder Statesmen” would likely fit comfortably into your living room. The opinions of these great men are seldom to be questioned. Likely they’re right on most topics of import. The only problem is that they are sometimes only partly right, at times even completely wrong.
And we wonder why countries are aligning against us, think BRICS. Our foreign policy has imploded our country. And in 4 short years. Biden really is an overachiever.
I didn’t like all of Trump’s policies (big spending, cares act, etc…I’m a tough nut to please), but I was very impressed with his foreign policy. Imagine what the world would be like right now if he had been in office rather than corrupt feeble minded Biden/Harris, who I’m sure someone not so feeble (but more demonic) is controlling.
Not to mention the Sy Hersh in depth investigation piece last year on this in which he asserts that the Biden administration did it. This Pulitzer Prize winning journalist was raked over the coals for it. I remember one point he made in that piece was that this would be a stretch for most divers at the depths required not to mention the explosives handling knowledge required. So somehow civilian divers are going to do what only elite underwater experts would attempt only after very careful planning. Don't know the full story but I would bet the farm we don't have it at this moment.
Frallen, this is a great point, just a little background knowledge of the complexity of that operation would lead you to believe that it had to be highly skilled, highly trained individuals as in special forces.
The other thing I thought sounded off was the amount of money mentioned, for $300K they rented a yacht, managed to pick up all that specialized equipment PLUS the explosives. I doubt everything about that story.

Watched it last night. It was a great convo between the two. I was blown away how well read Dave Smith is. We were watching it on YouTube on our TV and 3-4 separate times we got the “this conversation was about Covid and YouTube won’t let us air it, please go to TCN for unedited interview” or something to that effect. I had TCN version opened on my tiny phone and we would pause and listen to those sections from my phone. All they said were comments like “because the vaccines don’t work”. I can’t wait to watch Google go up in flames. Things like this make me hate them so much. In a trivial example of hair-splitting, the drug is called Wegovy when for weight loss. Ozempic technically is for diabetes. Diabetes seems to be a legitimate concern. The reason so many folks have it is that humans were not designed to consume factory-made fats (veg oils - canola, soy, safflower, sunflower, cottonseed, etc) not highly processed carbs (grains, sugars, all the breakfast cereals, high fructose corn syrup, corn syrup, etc). The Food Pyramid created our current epidemic of obesity, insulin resistance (which is the root problem in Type 2 diabetes), and heart disease (which is caused by inflammation most often from the inflammatory foods we consume and from insulin resistance).
So the problem with diabetes is the dumb@$$ dietary advice given to everyone. My spouse reversed their pre-diabetes in a month after switching from a "heart healthy" diet to a low carb high fat diet with natural fats instead of the veg oils. Almost everyone on the planet could do this. However, it is unknown to most physicians, doesn't fill the coffers of the drug companies or public health institutions, and does in fact require a somewhat dissident stance against the current food culture (think dealing with church potlucks, birthday parties, family gatherings, etc; let alone a new way of grocery shopping and a willingness to spend more at the grocery store so one doesn't have to eventually spend more at the drugstore).
Was advised to get and read a book back in about 1996 or so. Ener the Zone by Barry Sears. He bloes the lid off the bogus US government'fed standard dietary "recommendations". I'd been in forced sofa spud mode for eight years due to a debilitaing injury.. had gained 30 pounds, no energy, hrt everywhere, life sucked. As I read through the first third or so the light came on.. I'd had four years of premed biology/science, and everything this guy said bore witness to what I'd learned there. He lays down simple rules for re-balancing your diet, cleaning out all the Big "Food" garbage the government promotes, provides an easy to implement system for balancing the three macronutrients every time you eat. ONLY following his suggestions and making no other changes, I lost thirty pounds in two minths, had energy I'd not had since before the hurt, and was able to get active again. Been eating per his plan in all the years since. I have worn the same size clothes I did when I graduated high school mid-sixties since this change, was able to get back on my road bike and do some amazing ling distance rides.
I walk right past the "middle aisles" at the grocery store, when at friend's homes I select the right stuff from whats in the plattera and leave the nonsense there. CHurch potlucks are often more of a challenge, but there are usually enough "safe" things I do not starve nor do I beark out of my chosen eating habits.
Tried to tell a friend with four adult children still at home about the dangers of the processed oils. He blew me off. ALL his kids are overweigth to obese, as are he and his Wife. They WILL NOT abandn the sickening processed oils. Two weeks after I tried to tell him, including the consequences he went into hospital.. gall bladder blowing up. AGAIN. I fear I shall be called upon to lay him into his own tomb because he refuses to change.... I'm ten years older than he, he can only moslty sit about and painfully move around, gets winded walking acorss a room. IF he would change his diet he'd be a different man in two months. Sad..... he DID work for government for many decades prior to his early retirement.
ADD ANOTHER item to the things we've been lied and manipulated about: NUTRITION ... or what constitutes a nutritious diet.
MOST items on the supermarket shelves are poison, we need to start reading ingredient labels to find out what we are choosing to put into our bodies. Yes, it's a choice! We have been manipulated into thinking that just bc the label claims it, it's true... on the contrary, IF the label claims it... DOUBT it!
We need to go back to less PROCESSED foods and more natural; THINK oranges or apples instead of OJ or highly sweetened apple juice. THINK crunchy fresh vegetables instead of potato or "veggie" chips.
CONSIDER making your own yogurt to store bought, sugar laden ones regardless of what the labels say!

I have never had the VA push the COVID vaccine and I go quite often. I was asked once this year if I got the flu shot and that is all. VA does a lot of things I don’t approve of but pushing vaccines is not one of them.

What VA do you use? I have been to Hampton, Va both hospital and dental, Virginia Beach clinic, Pensacola VA Hospital and Eglin VA clinic. The only thing that was annoying was having to get a PCR test for COVID every time I went to the Hampton VA at the high of COVID… however, they were very organized and quick. The issues I am seeing with the VA is the loop holes that the doctors have to jump through since Biden has gotten in office. I’ve had two doctors and a dentist talk about it because they are frustrated with all the paperwork and the long lead times. veterans are not getting the care they need because of it.

In the first wave of mpox and the 'news' about it, I read an article and its comments below. Telling me about a "mostly gay" couple of men who somehow infected their dog, and I don't believe it was just from letting their dog sleep on the covers of the bed. But what do I know? Do I want to know?
Sure, I can imagine some merely irresponsible and thoughtless, while less maniacal, ways transmission of the disease could have happened to man's best friend. (Full disclosure: I have two cats AND I like dogs, but I digress...)
For instance, MAYBE the dog licked up something they (hahaha, see there, I said 'they' for one dog, which is what some people do when they don't know if an animal, is a 'he' or a 'she' -- grammarly shocking, I know -- and they do it with babies, too), ...the dog licked up something he or she (still sounds wrong and overly wordy, verbose even if repeated several times in the same piece of writing), ...something it (no, too impersonal even for a dog), ...something THAT POOR DOG shouldn't have licked up, as dogs sometimes do, but WOW...
AND I've also read arrest stories about how some maniacs are still practicing the bestiality fetish (paraphelia?), really animal abuse, in the 2020s; one maniac even... oh, never mind; I read it in the 'news'-- and not in some pruient novel (which I do not read), or in the Bible (which I do read, and for those who haven't, there are no stories about the details; but in the Bible, it definitely says that animals should NOT have sex with humans (see what I did there?). Root Cause: To say that 524 people perished from mpox is a bit of a misnomer. Even if everything that is surmised about mpox were 100% accurate, the root cause is not the disease itself but rather the behavior that resulted in the disease. I never subscribed to WSJ, but did subscribe to a "Christian" news mag called World for many years. I cancelled that subscription because they absolutely refused to report on the vaccine harms, or covid harms, for that matter. I wrote and expressed my opinion, but got only a response which essentially said nothing. I also cancelled my subscription to our small, local newspaper because I got tired of constantly being insulted because I was smart enough to refuse the covid shots. The editor wouldn't even allow letters which expressed a different opinion! Many, maybe most, of the people whose political positions fall on the so-called left-right spectrum seem to think that only Democrats are socialists when all that means is that government is funded by coercive taxation, which everyone on the left-right spectrum supports by cooperating with it. As a libertarian, I think that everything about government should be funded voluntarily by opting in if you want the service, and not using it if you don't. If taxation were voluntary, it would decline in popularity.

You may be interested in what author Megan Basham has to say in her book Shepards for Sale about the level of leftist influence in "Christian" magazines. (The book was featured here a few days ago). Pushing the COVID narrative, LGBTQ topics, and abortion are just three examples. Basham specifically talks about how Christianity Today has been co-opted and now pushes messages that reflect these views.
Oh yes, John, I bought Megan's book and have already read it. I live near Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and am acquainted with Danny Akin, J.D. Greear, Karen Swallow Prior, Matt Mullins and others who were mentioned in the book. One who isn't mentioned, but perhaps should be, is Walter Strickland, who headed their Kingdom Diversity initiative. SEBTS didn't mandate the covid shots, but strongly urged students and staff to take them. Students working toward some degrees were required to go on international mission trips, for which they had to be vaccinated. Students asked to be allowed to go mission trips which didn't require vaccination. To be fair, I don't know what happened with their request, but I do know they were mocked because they didn't want to be jabbed. I've shared numerous times this message they received from a man named Ryan Hutchinson and will continue to share it, because it is so egregious to me. "I have been fully vaccinated at this point and things are going well. On a positive note, I have started to regrow hair on my head, although it is a glow in the dark green color. I have also found that wearing wide shoes for my right foot accommodates the extra toe that I have grown. Google tells me this is all temporary, so there really isn’t anything to worry about. Also, when I go to my parents house they still get the WSJ and the local newspaper and have FOX news on all day. They’ll ask me if I want to read the news, while they have their papers spread all across the table as I’m reading substack on my tablet. Then they want to talk about things they’re reading that I learned about a week or two prior. My husband and I laugh about it.

Jeff Chiders urged us to "think critically" a few times in his deconstruction of the WSJ propaganda piece. And he's absolutely right that we should always exercise critical thinking, but it really is simpler that that. Just use your God-given BS detector.
When people are pushing stories that don't make sense, seem wildly implausible on the surface, use appeals to emotion, and directly deflect blame from powerful people with a motive, then they are likely untrue. At best they should be considered hearsay until there's actual evidence.
It boggles my mind how many people don't use this simple heuristic. Jeff Childers did a masterful job taking down the piece for which I'm grateful. But it really wasn't needed as I knew the story was BS just reading the headline, as likely did many here.
There are entire professional fields out there (e.g. journalism, public relations, marketing) designed to use psychological and emotional persuasion techniques to manipulate people to act in the interests of other people. That may be as simple as getting you to buy a car or swaying public opinion on an issue important to powerful interests. The intent is the same, to manipulate you to act in a manner that benefits them rather than you.
Once one can recognize the signs of it then you'll never fall for it again. And there are plenty of people supposedly on our side doing it to, either to sell something or chase clout.
Jeff C, I think you’re right about the BS detector and you correctly named it God-given. I would call this type of insight a spiritual gift, thus millions of people who have no relationship with God - aren’t blessed with a God-given BS detector.
Insightful as always Freebird. I discounted this for a long time mainly out of pride I think (i.e. it was something special about me). I've gradually concluded it's actually comes from the Holy Spirit. That feeling that "this doesn't make sense" or that sense that something is just off about an experience is supernatural in origin.
Much of that also comes from studying the Bible (authored by the Holy Spirit of course) which is the best human psychology book ever written. The difference being that the Bible teaches us to understand psychology so we can be sanctified and kind to others. Compare that to secular psychology which often teaches how to use psychological techniques to manipulate people.

I’ve have the Holy Spirit within me for 49 years. That BS detector baffled my kids when there was no possible way I could have known something or caught something. I always explained that God often guides mothers and unfortunately for them (to their dismay sometimes, LOL) they were being raised by one that believed in God. And it was true - I saw things in my mind while they were lying that I couldn’t possibly have known.
It has even helped me with my health and actually saved my life by giving me a 6th sense in the 11th hour, but not before several years of my life were destroyed by allopathic doctors. Still, I felt the nudge in time.
BUT
I don’t always have that detector go off for politics or news headlines. I’m getting better at it though. I still have a lot to learn about the games they play. In the meantime I get my news from alternative news sources who are better at this than I am.
Please be more respectful to the rest of us that are not as good at detecting journalistic and political BS as you two are. A lot of us have God inside us too, and it’s insulting to listen to you pay yourselves on the back and then try to claim it’s because you have God, so therefore we must not.

Juju, I’d reiterate what Jeff said in his reply to you. That this ability, what we’ve called in slang terms, the BS detector, is a GIFT. As such, it has nothing to do with our own merit or worthiness. We simply recognize that God, our Heavenly Father, loves us…and He gives us good gifts.
If you read 1 Corinthians 12, there are many gifts listed, and believers are given different gifts - he uses the analogy of the body of Christ…hands, feet, eyes, all with a different purpose but making up a functioning body.
And he follows this with what we call the love chapter…1 Corinthians 13 in which he says, The greatest of these is Love.
I love these verses from Ephesians - which tells us that even our Faith is a GIFT from God.

Well I for one am thankful for Jeff’s taking down of the piece. I hope he continues to do this for us. I have a master’s degree in a technical field so I’m no dumb-downed individual, but I don’t know the journalism field or their tactics with writing stories as well as all of you do. I don’t always catch some of these subtleties, and when I do I don’t always know what they mean. I love these deconstructs because it teaches me more. My lack of inner BS detector is simply coming from a different experience in life than some of you. Thank you Jeff Childers, for understanding and caring about the rest of us who understandably can be fooled or misdirected sometimes. We aren’t morons because of it.
Yeah, I'm grateful for it also, which is why I said "I'm grateful" in my comment. I didn't call anyone morons but questioned why people didn't use heuristics in sorting fake from real more often.
My bigger point (which I probably didn't make clear) is that we all can't run down every one of these stories. There are armies of propagandists out there churning this stuff out and none of us have the time/resources to chase down all the details. If we require a thorough analysis to separate real/fake on every story we'll never get to the bottom of anything and be perpetually misled.
But the good news is that once the BS detector is running you don't have to. Stuff will just intuitively not make sense particularly if it's an emotion-based appeal. Once one recognizes the manipulation techniques then it becomes pretty easy to discount stuff that is obviously propaganda.
Ever hear a commercial along the lines of "How would you feel if something happened to you and it left your family destitute? Could you live with yourself knowing they they may be suffering in the future? That's why you need our life insurance!" This is the kind of stuff I'm talking about. It's everywhere and intended to emotionally manipulate you to do something that benefits others (the people selling the insurance in this case). Once one recognizes it they'll roll their eyes when they hear it.
This story is along the same lines. The headline is sensational and intended to provoke an emotional reaction. It's written like a crime novel designed to draw you into its fiction. It completely ignores the obvious suspects (intel agencies with means, motives, and past threats) and concocts this wild Keystone Kops scenario of a bunch of ne'r-do-wells who got lucky. And most important, it completely deflects attention from the real people who almost certainly did this. It's very similar to the Covid "natural origins" lie used to protect the people who recklessly caused covid.
I obviously don't know you Juju, so this is not aimed at you personally. But I think that many people believe emotional manipulation is a normal part of life so they don't recognize it when it happens. It's not, it's wicked. The lonely mother who says, "after everything I did for you, but now you never visit me!" is using emotional manipulation. It's not normal, decent, loving people don't treat each other like that. But people who have been subjected to that type of stuff their whole lives (as many of us were) are conditioned to it, and then don't recognize it when it's used on a mass scale (as it is in journalism, PR, and marketing).

Back in the early 2000's I worked for a local tv station in the production department, which meant I worked in the studio during the broadcasts. All the world and US news was pulled off the, then, AP wire, and was inserted in the news scripts almost always verbatim. There was no process to check for accuracy. The only thing worth watching was the weather segment.
Sadly, there are far too few people with inner BS detectors.
Oh, how I wish it were true that one might "never fall for it again." It's so easy to be fooled, and even being educated to the tricks that can be played doesn't necessarily immunize one. Even in the hard sciences, even among professionals acting honestly (or at least, not deliberately being dishonest) pitfalls lurk. One common example is called by various names; we’ll call it Groupthink here. Even in fields or with topics that should have been – or at least could have been – investigated to tough standards demanded by science, doctrinal beliefs can exist for years, decades even, as if it were church dogma, not because would-be reformers haven’t tried to suss out flaws and present new evidence that disconfirms popular assertions. No, a lot of this is groupthink. It’s especially prevalent in specialized academic fields. For example, say, diabetes research. Despite it being a chronic health issue affecting hundreds of millions worldwide, at any given time the number of “Elder Statesmen” would likely fit comfortably into your living room. The opinions of these great men are seldom to be questioned. Likely they’re right on most topics of import. The only problem is that they are sometimes only partly right, at times even completely wrong.
Just assume anything pushed by ANYONE is BS. Seriously, if they are "pushing" you, then ask "what is their motive?".

I didn’t like all of Trump’s policies (big spending, cares act, etc…I’m a tough nut to please), but I was very impressed with his foreign policy. Imagine what the world would be like right now if he had been in office rather than corrupt feeble minded Biden/Harris, who I’m sure someone not so feeble (but more demonic) is controlling.
Not to mention the Sy Hersh in depth investigation piece last year on this in which he asserts that the Biden administration did it. This Pulitzer Prize winning journalist was raked over the coals for it. I remember one point he made in that piece was that this would be a stretch for most divers at the depths required not to mention the explosives handling knowledge required. So somehow civilian divers are going to do what only elite underwater experts would attempt only after very careful planning. Don't know the full story but I would bet the farm we don't have it at this moment.
Frallen, this is a great point, just a little background knowledge of the complexity of that operation would lead you to believe that it had to be highly skilled, highly trained individuals as in special forces.
The other thing I thought sounded off was the amount of money mentioned, for $300K they rented a yacht, managed to pick up all that specialized equipment PLUS the explosives. I doubt everything about that story.

Already know of people who had to stop taking it because they were vomiting uncontrollably. Doctors are just automatically putting any diabetics, pre-diabetics and obese people on this poison. My sister-in-law told me her (young) friend is taking Ozempic. Wants to lost some extra pounds around her midriff, so asked her doctor for it; he complied of course. This person eats pasta every day. I find that hard to believe as they are very junior Sailors training there… they haven’t even had one operational tour under their belt. The only senior personnel are the CO, XO, CMD and a few instructors… and for most of them, this is their last tour. I personally worked with the last few COs. If it was any EOD diver, they would have come from MDSU2 at Little Creek.

I worked at Navy Expeditionary Combat Command for 12 years … and they are ones who plan those exercises in conjunction with the other TYCOM. If is easy enough to find the write for every one of them. Our Force PAO would be there for month covering them.
