Democrats hate twitter but can't stop; more 'far right' winning; three arrests; 4-day ceasefire begins; Dublin protests; more trouble for Eric Adams; great coffee news; police diversity; and more.
Good morning, C&C, it’s Black Friday! I hope you all enjoyed a blessed and fulfilling holiday of gratitude yesterday. The Childers family did, with the first full family gathering since 2020. Everybody was healthy and happy, the food was great, and the political dinner-table conversation over the Israel-Gaza war managed to remain civil.
Today’s roundup includes: Politico regrets that democrats are forced to keep using Twitter against their wills; great news from the Netherlands as another “far right extremist” wins national elections; three interesting arrests of: a DoD official, a State Department official, and a Gaza hospital administrator; first temporary cease-fire in Gaza begins; far-right extremists peacefully protest in Dublin; Eric Adams gets the Andrew Cuomo treatment; more great coffee news proves we were correct from the beginning; diversity may not be the police’s strength.
🗞💬 WORLD NEWS AND COMMENTARY 💬🗞
🔥 Politico ran an ironic and a little bit sad story Tuesday, headlined “Democrats can’t quit Elon Musk’s X.” Poor democrats. They want to quit. They just can’t stop themselves.
For three years, democrats enjoyed special privileged status on Twitter, where their comments and posts went unchallenged by the government-fueled censorship machine that was busy chewing up and spitting out all the conservatives on the platform.
But, now that he’s bought the platform and shutdown most of the “misinformation” filters, Politico’s article announced Elon Musk is now the left’s new, number one, most-hated person. Elon somehow even dethroned President Trump. (At least for now.)
According to Politico, it’s all because of Israel. You probably thought conservatives were the main Israel supporters, but according to Politico, rank-and-file democrats are so strong for Israel that they are outraged at Elon over Twitter’s weak support for the Jewish homeland, and because of Media Matters’ claims that Twitter is antisemitic:
In the past few weeks, Elon Musk — owner of X, formerly known as Twitter — has gone from provocateur to full-on villain for much of the American left. He personally amplified antisemitic conspiracy theories, sued a progressive research group over claims that ads ran next to pro-Nazi posts, and allowed a reported spike in Hamas-affiliated propaganda tied to the Israel-Hamas war to go largely unmoderated.
It’s weird how in just a couple days, a person can become a “full-on villain for much of the American left,” isn’t it? It must be totally organic. Anyway, the “news” was that 25 democrats sent Elon a threatening letter on Tuesday, making the totally-believable claim that Twitter “is profiting from Hamas’ terrorist propaganda.”
Then, as soon as they clicked “send,” the democrats all raced to Twitter to announce they’d sent Elon their letter complaining about Twitter. They’d rather not use Elon’s antisemitic platform, but where else are they supposed to announce things?
When they sent the letter, (Dan) Goldman and (Jamie) Raskin promptly shared the news — on X. Politicians are finding they just don’t have a competitor for X’s free, real-time ability to reach voters and journalists. X is still the closest thing to a virtual town square for the Washington conversation.
“The press still lives and dies on Twitter, and as long as they’re there, it’s going to be hard for elected officials to avoid it,” said Andrew Bleeker, president of Bully Pulpit Interactive, a Democratic-aligned communications firm.
It’s a conundrum. Democrats tried creating their own “fully moderated,” progressive Twitter-killer, called something-or-other, causing lots of establishment journalists to rage quit Elon’s platform with great fanfare, but then have to sneak back in shame because — oddly — nobody wanted to read their wacky leftist scribblings in their “digital safe spaces.”
So I guess it’s Twitter for now. But owning a popular and uncensored social media platform put Elon right in the crosshairs, making him a “full-on villain” to democrats. After all, how dare he allow conservatives any free speech?
🔥 It’s spreading! Reuters ran another glorious counter-revolutionary story yesterday headlined, “Dutch election: Far-right's Wilders aims to be PM after shock win.”
These days, the headline editors must have the phrase “far-right” on a hotkey. It’s getting a lot of use.
In case you aren’t familiar, the Netherlands’ Geert Wilders has long been characterized in corporate media as a “far-right” extremist. He often praises both President Trump and Hungary's conservative Prime Minister Viktor Orban, and has even been called the “Dutch Trump.” Wilders is anti-leftist. He’s anti-Islam, anti-immigration, anti-Ukraine aid, anti-climate-change, and anti-EU. He promised voters that "the Netherlands will be returned to the Dutch."
In 2009, Britain banned Wilders from entry because “Islamaphobia.”
In other words, Wilders is a “Netherlands First” candidate — an anti-globalist. Yesterday, he and his party, “beating all predictions,” swept the Netherlands’ elections. Now, Wilders’ party controls more parliamentary seats than either of the other two large parties, which — although they’d like nothing more than to keep ignoring Wilders — will now be forced to work with him to form a government and pick the next Prime Minister.
Reading between the lines, Reuters is terrified this far-right-ism is spreading like a bad cold sore, and if not promptly nipped in the bud, it could wind up speeding across the EU and even infecting what it calls “mainstream” parties, which includes anyone who thinks science says boys can use wishes to change themselves into girls:
Wilders' win sent a warning shot to mainstream parties across Europe ahead of European Parliament elections next June, which will likely be fought on the same issues as the Dutch election: immigration, cost of living and climate change. "We've had it with the old politicians," voter Herman Borcher said in the eastern town of Enschede, summing up the mood.
Like with the election of chainsaw-wielding economist Javier Milei in Argentina last week, corporate media’s headline writers were working overtime to characterize Wilders’ election results as super bad news:
It’s a five-alarm fire. The BBC, yesterday:
One man’s “populist problem” is another man’s “freedom fighter,” or vice-versa. From CNN, yesterday:
Maybe comparing Wilders to Trump will do the trick. From Associated Press, yesterday:
The marxists think it’s just “awful.” From the Economist, yesterday:
(Ironically, a cordon sanitaire — literally, a “clean line” — is a quarantine zone for stopping infections from spreading. The Economist thinks conservatives are a disease spreading across Europe.)
Before you know it, someone will probably link an article about how Geert Wilders went to Davos in 2006 or whatever, dumping cold water on rightfully-excited conservatives. But remember — this morning’s great news is not about Geert Wilders. It’s about Dutch voters, who are finally asserting themselves and becoming a force to be reckoned with. "We've had it with the old politicians,” said the lone personal-interest quote from the Reuters article.
In other words, the Dutch are so mad they’ll even elect Geert Wilders. To stay relevant, the so-called “mainstream” parties will have to start mitigating their leftist madness, dragging everybody rightwards. Which is a sign of the pendulum swinging back.
This explosive worldwide populist movement can be traced back to 2016, with Brexit and with the shocking election of Donald J. Trump, both of which also “beat all predictions.” Ever since then, the elites done whatever they can to cram the populist genie back into the globalist bottle. They know it’s just a matter of time, and are racing to ram through as much of their globalist agenda as they can before the marxist music stops.
The pandemic bought the globalists a few extra years, but the boomerang is whirling around the corner and heading straight back at them.
We are all “far-right” now.
🔥 There were three somewhat remarkable (unrelated) arrests right before the holiday. First, Military.com ran a story headlined, “DoDEA America's Chief of Staff Arrested in Human Trafficking Sting Operation in Georgia.”
In another black eye for the military, Stephen Hovanic, 66, a Biden administration official and head of the Pentagon’s school system, was arrested this week for misdemeanor solicitation during a human trafficking sting operation. By the time I checked yesterday, his bio had already been scrubbed from the DoD’s website.
According to Military.com, a DoD spokesman said Hovanic is currently “on leave.” I bet.
Hovanic was nabbed in a state crackdown on human trafficking (prostitution), drugs, and illegal weapons. Apparently Chief of Staff Hovanic’s DoD job wasn’t stimulating enough. And who could have seen this coming, given how carefully the Biden Administration selects its top officials?
Oh well. At least Hovanic wasn’t stealing ladies’ luggage from airport carousels. He was only trolling for some inexpensive companionship.
Next up in today’s rogue’s gallery is State Department employee Stuart Seldowitz, 64, the former deputy director of Obama’s Office of Israel and Palestinian Affairs. Stuart is still advocating for Israel, one street vendor at a time. Possibly too enthusiastically.
He got arrested for his ‘advocacy’ yesterday in New York City for aggravated harassment, hate crime stalking, stalking causing fear, and stalking at a place of employment. Some people would say Stuart was just “sharing with a fellow citizen,” and some might say he “targeted the victim,” a 24-year-old street-food vendor in New York City. Stuart evidently kept stopping by the cart to berate the young man, including offering unpleasant sentiments like threatening the man’s Egyptian parents with torture by the secret police.
CLIP: Obama official terrorizes food cart vendor (2:18).
Stuart is obviously a monumental jerk and, be warned, listening to him smugly ranting is extremely annoying. And even though I’m not sure whether, as a matter of principle, I agree that insulting words — however impolite — can constitute criminal conduct, I still wouldn’t take Stuart’s case.
Some of the mystery of why the world is on fire right now is cleared up when you consider that people like Stuart are being appointed to important diplomatic jobs.
Finally, Aljazeera reported yesterday that the Israeli army arrested the medical director and several other doctors at al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza for providing material support to Hamas terrorists.
Yesterday, the Israelis detained for questioning al-Shifa hospital director Muhammad Abu Salmiya, shown above, due to “evidence showing that Shifa Hospital, under his direct management, served as a Hamas command and control centre.” Israel claims that Hamas uses hospitals like al-Shifa — along with hospital patients and doctors — as human shields, and builds extensive tunnels and housing for lots of terrorists underneath the medical complexes.
Dr. Salmiya has been in the news lately, infesting all the corporate media news networks and angrily insisting there was zero truth to any allegations that Hamas was anywhere near his hospital. But then Tuesday, Israel released videos showing Hamas dragging hostages into Dr. Salmiya’s hospital on October 7th — hostages who were never seen again — and released other videos showing extensive, rough-hewn tunnel systems under the hospital that are obviously not part of any official hospital business.
So it looks like Dr. Salmiya has not been entirely 100% honest about what kinds of things his hospital has been up to.
🔥 Crediting Joe Biden personally — if you can believe that he’s done anything personally — the New York Times ran a story yesterday headlined “Temporary Truce in Israel-Hamas War Appears to Take Hold.” The story described a carefully-negotiated, four-day-long ceasefire in the Gaza war. In exchange for the Israeli army standing down for four days, $38 million in British aid slush funds, hundreds of trucks of fuel and supplies, and the release of 39 Palestinian prisoners, Hamas committed to returning thirteen kidnapped Israeli women and children tomorrow by 4pm.
According to reports, over the next three days of the cease-fire, 37 more kidnapped Israeli women and children — making 50 total — will be released, in exchange for more aid, more trucks, and over a hundred more released Palestinian prisoners. But Israel doesn’t get any money, any aid, or any trucks.
The deal seems a little lopsided to me, but I’m not a crack negotiator like Joe Biden. It’s a “Biden” kind of deal! (Except media reports didn’t specify whether the deal includes ten percent for the Big Guy.)
Corporate media is already chattering about how the temporary four-day ceasefire should be made “permanent.” It’s going to be a long weekend for Israel.
🔥 The Washington Post ran a story yesterday headlined, “Far-right protesters burn and loot Dublin in worst violence ‘in decades’.”
Mostly-peaceful Irish protestors took to the streets of Dublin yesterday, setting several buses and cars on fire, launching fireworks at cops, and so forth. According to the Washington Post’s fair, even-handed description, the protesters were a “lunatic, hooligan faction driven by a far-right ideology” who were angry about a knife attack earlier in the week.
Why? Well, good luck finding reliable descriptions of what actually happened that made the locals so upset. As far as I can tell, for an unexplained reason, an immigrant — believed to be an Algerian muslim — went on a wild stabbing spree outside a Dublin elementary school and seriously injured three children — aged 4, 5, and 6 — and two adults, probably teachers. Fortunately, several local bystanders who witnessed the carnage immediately piled on top of the assailant, stripping his knife away and holding him for police.
But somehow it’s the protestors who are the lunatics and hooligans, not the Algerian migrant.
Dubliners apparently got enraged after Irish authorities announced the apparently-random stabbings were not a “terrorist” incident — which would have carried enhanced penalties — but just another unremarkable, garden-variety crime of passion. Citizens became even more upset after officials obstinately refused to identify the attacker and obscured his nationality, using tortured euphemisms and burying the ugly facts in word salad nonsense.
Building citizen rage ultimately led to a George Floyd-style riot last night in Dublin, which the corporate media prompted dubbed “far right” and described as the ugliest, worst display of human barbarity the innocent reporters have ever seen, prudishly acting like they never saw a leftwing riot before.
It’s quite hilarious how transparently differently corporate media describes ‘right-wing’ protests than, say, unhinged leftists literally burning downtown Minneapolis.
They’re calling what happened in Dublin yesterday a “far right” riot because protestors were upset about Ireland’s lax immigration policies, which have been importing third world ne’er-do-wells into the tiny island nation for decades now. People are finally getting fed up, which is freaking out the media and government officials. Woke Irish Prime Minister Taoiseach Leo Varadkar, who supported 2020’s BLM riots in the U.S., told reporters that the protestors “brought shame on Ireland,” and vowed that police would relentlessly do “whatever it takes to fight back waves of ignorance and criminality.”
Prime Minister Varadkar, if that’s his real name, brought shame on Ireland, not the protestors.
🔥 It seems New York Mayor Eric Adams is about to get the full Andrew Cuomo treatment, and in a tender spot. Politico reported the story yesterday headlined, “Eric Adams accused of sexual assault in 1993 in new legal filing.” In case anybody missed the connection, Politico also ran a clumsy companion story headlined, “Joe Biden once embraced Eric Adams. Don’t expect that anytime soon.” So.
1993! The alleged sexual assault — kept under wraps for all this time — allegedly happened literally thirty years ago. You’ll recall, I’m sure, that President Trump was also recently sued in New York in a similar dusty, antique ‘sexual assault’ case. New York’s “Adult Survivors” Act allows for these types of super-stale, decades-old claims. The claims might be ancient, but they are still exquisitely useful against any inconvenient politicians who the Biden Administration dislikes.
Mayor Adams’ problems are mounting. Although he hasn’t been indicted for anything — not yet — a phalanx of FBI agents is undisguisedly and quite publicly investigating him over murky allegations of doing some kind of favors for unnamed Turkish officials after allegedly receiving some kind of vaguely-described benefits from that country. And all of this legal activity swirling around the Mayor gives corporate media tons of chances to write hit-piece articles about him using words like “embattled,” “accused,” and “kickbacks,” and constantly reminding democrat readers that Adams and Joe Biden haven’t spoken in over a year.
The story has also created room for eye-popping headlines like this one from Politico three days ago. You probably didn’t see this coming, although it seems obvious in hindsight:
He’s back! Well, almost. Politico completely missed the irony in trading one disgraced public official accused of sexual assault with another disgraced public official accused of sexual assault. Not to mention murdering elderly citizens in an obscene nursing-home kickback scheme.
☕ In some more terrific news, get ready to enjoy that feeling of being proven right, again, this time about a critically-important subject. The Daily Coffee News (it’s real) ran a story Tuesday headlined, “Study: Regularly Drinking Coffee Reduces COVID-19 Infection Risk.”
You read that right. The Daily Coffee News reported on a brand-new study with twelve authors, presumably all double-espresso fans, published last week in ‘Cell & Bioscience,’ titled “Coffee as a dietary strategy to prevent SARS-CoV-2 infection.”
Following in vitro testing with human cells, and a human trial involving 64 participants who were given a SARS-CoV-2 “pseudovirus,” the researchers concluded that drinking coffee every day appears to help prevent infection from all common covid variants and — get this — drinking coffee also seems to reduce the severity of covid infections.
In other words, coffee works better than the jabs, which don’t prevent infections at all — and that’s even if you credit the jabs for also reducing severity of illness, a highly-debatable point. Plus coffee doesn’t give you myocarditis (or worse).
Coffee somehow interferes with the spike protein’s ability to interface with ACE2 receptors on human cells. Which is even more amazing when you consider that they don’t understand the biological mechanism of how the jabs (supposedly) can reduce the severity of illness even though they don’t stop people getting infected. They just wave their hands and gas on about antibodies.
Coffee’s protective effects — which were consistent with at least three previous studies reaching similar conclusions — held up regardless whether participants drank ground, instant, caffeinated, or decaffeinated coffee, or whether they took it black, creamed, or sugared. “Interestingly, no matter what kind of coffee or adding additional intergrading (sugar or milk), it has the capability to reduce SARS-CoV-2 entering into host cells,” the researchers wrote. “Our research supported drinking coffee is related to reducing COVID-19 infection, which is consistent with the opinion of meta-analyses that reported coffee consumption related to a lower COVID-19 positive probability.”
What can’t coffee do? And we were all promoting coffee from day one. So.
🔥 Finally, behold this clip of four diverse, body-positive female police officers trying to restrain one single male shoplifter. Spoiler alert: it doesn’t go well for the officers. Cops did finally catch the guy later though, so there was a happy ending of sorts.
CLIP: Four diverse officers struggle to arrest one shoplifter (2:55)
There’s a broader commentary here about the biological differences between men and women, and the whole transsexual revolution, but the video might just say more with images than could be said with words. Let me know what you think in the comments.
