Good morning and Happy Monday, C&Cers! It’s been a long couple days without C&C, I know, but I am back from CPAC and ready for the SOTU, which starts at 9pm tomorrow. Proving for all time my affection for you guys, I will watch the unpleasant spectacle in order to give you a prompt report. Maybe I’ll live-stream it on Twitter, who knows.

Today we have some catching up to do. In the roundup: Corporate media is setting low SOTU expectations for Biden; Gavin Newsom ends some emergencies but not Covid; lockdown states try to buy replacement citizens; NYC and New York drop school masking; LA County drops indoor masks; the CDC issues new mask guidance dropping masks for 70% of the US; Congress drops masks just in time for the SOTU; SNL mocks pro-maskers; where’s Waldo, I mean Fauci?; a study corrects the pregnancy numbers showing bad outcomes for jab takers; another study shows the jabs can quickly alter DNA; and New Zealand’s high court strikes down a jab mandate.

🗞 THE C&C ARMY POST 🗞

🔥 CPAC is a loud, boisterous, full-throated festival of conservative politics. Highlights for me included attending the Reagan dinner on Friday night, working in America’s Frontline Doctors booth during the day on Saturday on the main floor, and attending President Trump’s rousing speech later that evening. It was classic Trump and the standing-room-only crowd was totally fired up. Everywhere you went you stumbled over a conservative influencer, candidate, or politician. Like on Sunday morning when I attended a worship service that turned out to be led by Senator James Lankford of Oklahoma.

I also met a Canadian trucker who’d been sleeping in his car after driving nonstop from Ottawa to Florida, fleeing a warrant for his arrest for attending the Trucker Rally. He plans to hang out here as long as he can.

It was fun, but I’m glad to be back.

🗞COVID NEWS AND COMMENTARY 🗞

🔥 The media is setting the bar as low as possible for Biden’s State of the Union. That will make it easier to say he crushed it. For example, USA Today ran a pre-SOTU story yesterday headlined, “State of the Union: Biden faces a nation rattled by inflation, uncertain of his leadership.” When I say they are setting expectations low, the article LITERALLY says that: “Whatever agenda the president outlines Tuesday, expectations are low that he’ll be able to get it done.”

The article catalogues some of Biden’s intractable problems: inflation, bottoming-out poll numbers, and his foreign policy debacles. It noted that Biden is as far as -18% upside-down in approve/disapprove polling, and that the Democrat-controlled Congress is doing even worse, with a stunning -61% deficit (15% approve / 76% disapprove).

USA Today quoted random “expert” David Paleologos, director of the Suffolk University Political Research Center, whatever that is, who stated the obvious: “A lot is riding on this speech, including the careers of so many politicians on both sides of the aisle whose political trajectories may rise or fall based on whether Biden can get off the mat.” You don’t say.

Politico predicted that Biden will focus on Ukraine, whose tank battalions rolled along conveniently just in time for the SOTU. I’m NOT saying that just because Hunter is on all those Russian boards and gets millions from the Moscow mayor’s wife, with a tasty slice for the Big Guy, or that none of the threatened sanctions with any teeth have actually been activated or even hard scheduled, that means Biden conspired with the Russians to create a “war” that Biden can magically resolve somehow to demonstrate his foreign-policy chops. That would be crazy evil.

I’m also not predicting that Biden will announce tomorrow that he’s come up with some way to resolve the mysteriously-erupting Russian-Ukranian conflict, like he’s flying to Moscow first thing Wednesday morning to straighten Putin out or something. That would be even more bizarre than Fauci’s head stuffed in a glass soccer ball getting kicked around by some deranged clowns who keep falling over clutching their hearts with those big white hands.

Anyway, IF this whole thing WERE a manufactured charade to help Biden’s cratering poll numbers somehow, they’d have to do something about it pretty soon, because the rest of the world is beginning to take the invasion seriously and starting to actually do stuff. So, notwithstanding all those things I’m NOT predicting, my best guess is Biden is going to announce the end of the pandemic and then talk all about how he’s going to get tough with Russia and single-handedly save the world from global thermonuclear war. Inflation? What inflation? Can’t you see we have bigger problems right now?

🔥 It looks like some governors aren’t totally on board with the whole “giving up muh emergency powers” thing yet. Peppy California governor Gavin Newsom ended 12 local states of emergency yesterday for things unrelated to Covid, like wildfires, but continued the State’s declaration of Covid emergency status IN PERPETUITY. Until further notice and so forth. They will let you know.

California has been under its Covid SOE for 728 days, with Newsom issuing 561 emergency orders during that time. That comes to about one order every day and a half. That’s some emergency right there. We’ve fought wars shorter than that.

🔥 There is a hilarious new scheme trending quietly among some smaller blue states — buying citizens. Having driven away all their productive citizens and everyone who can move, desperate for younger workers, they are now debating PAYING PEOPLE to move back. An article describing the trend in Business Insider this weekend is headlined, “Maine Might Pay Up To $40,000 Of Your Student Loans If You Move There And Buy A House.”

Maine’s Senate President Troy Jackson told reporters that they had “a real challenge of filling the job market.” I bet they do. For SOME reason.

The Washington Examiner, reporting the same story, noted that Illinois and Maryland already offer similar programs. All three states featured the most draconian Covid lockdown policies during the pandemic. And Illinois — the largest of the three — is the second fastest population loser after Washington DC.

Do you think this scheme will work to bring people back? I don’t.

😷 Just in time, New York City’s lockdown-loving mayor Eric Adams announced yesterday — Sunday — that effective March 7, the Big Apple is lifting school mask mandates and mandatory vaccine passes for public accomodations like hotels and restaurants. Boy, he really waited till the last minute, didn’t he?

More than a million New York City school children will return to class tomorrow. If our numbers continue to show a low level of risk, we will remove the indoor mask mandate for public school students, effective Monday, March 7. We will make a final decision on Friday, March 4.

🔥 Not to be outdone, messianic governor Kathy Hochul ended New York’s statewide school mask mandate, effective Wednesday. Guess when she announced it? That’s right, yesterday, Sunday. Right before the you-know-what.

Our top priority has always been keeping kids in school and making sure our classrooms are safe. Now, with COVID cases declining by 98% since the Omicron peak and updated @CDCgov guidance in place, we will lift the statewide school mask requirement this coming Wednesday.

She’s keeping masks in hospitals, jails, and homeless shelters though. So.

😷 Last week, LA County announced that, effective last Friday, indoor masks will no longer be required with proof of injection or a negative test. Sounds like a fun policy for businesses to enforce.

😷 Right on time, two workdays before the SOTU, the CDC “updated” its mask guidelines. A USA Today article describing the new recommendations is headlined, “More than 70% of Americans can take off their masks indoors under new CDC guidelines on COVID-19 risk.” So there you go.

“We are in a stronger place today as a nation with more tools today to protect ourselves and our community from COVID-19 like vaccination, boosters, broader access to testing, availability of high quality masks, accessibility to new treatments, and improved ventilation,” CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky said during Friday’s briefing. Who needs masks anyway?

The CDC has come up with yet another new coding system, this one based on hospitalizations, beds, and medical capacity to rate levels of community transmission. Two-thirds of the country are already in low enough categories to unmask indoors. This is a political move; the CDC couldn’t drop masks in areas where Omicron hasn’t peaked yet. So this complicated new coding system is the compromise.

What’s left? Masks on airplanes. This gives Biden a chance to announce tomorrow that he’ll let the airplane mask mandate lapse on March 18. Flight attendant unions are already moving to oppose this, they must sense it’s coming too.

😷 Somebody predicted this would happen, I can’t remember who, but the Capitol Attending Physician announced yesterday — again, on SUNDAY — that the Congressional mask mandate has now been dropped, just in time for Biden’s State of the Union speech. “Mask wear is now an individual choice option,” the Capitol Attending Physician told reporters.

It’s all teeing up so nicely, isn’t it?

🔥 It’s REALLY official now. Saturday Night Live has been deployed to mock people clinging to mask mandates. It even mocks judgy vaccine lovers.

I have to admit, it’s fun to watch. At one point, one of the dinner party guests notes, “Well, at least we have the CDC. I mean, they haven’t always been perfect, but the science changed!” Then, another guest complains, “How does the science ‘change?’ When I make a mistake at work, I don’t get to say ‘the science changed’.”

Another says, “well, at least we had outdoor dining,” to which another responds, “oh, you mean when they just built a smaller restaurant in the street — how is that outdoors?”

Then one, interspersed with anguished cries and pained expressions, says, “I went to a child’s birthday party, and they did gymnastics in masks, and then they went into another room and took off their masks to eat pizza — so did they really need the masks? Did ANY of us ever need the mask!!?” At which point a sequence of horrifying images erupts culminating in a depiction of the Big Bang.

So, the pandemic’s end has now gone mainstream. You’re welcome.

🔥 Where’s that stinky rodent-like garden gnome Fauci? There’s a rumor on Twitter this weekend citing “congressional sources” that Fauci has been “sidelined.” Who knows? He’s definitely not frontlined.

💉 More bad news for jabs and, unfortunately, jab takers. A November study in the journal Vaccines, now being widely-cited, is titled “Maternal COVID-19 Vaccination and Its Potential Impact on Fetal and Neonatal Development.” The study re-analyzed the data used by the original study that justified mRNA vaccines for pregnant women, and — guess what — found that some errors had been made. I know, shocking.

According to the researchers:

A widely cited preliminary study of the V-safe and Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) data suggested that COVID-19 mRNA vaccines were safe for pregnant women; however, errors were found in their analysis, and a follow-up re-analysis of the data revealed a cumulative incidence of spontaneous abortion of 7–8 times higher than the original author’s calculations, which was statistically higher than the typical average for pregnancy loss during the equivalent time period.

Not too good, sadly. There’s a decent fraud case shaping up here somewhere.

💉 And, more bad jab news. A new study published in Molecular Biology on February 23 is titled, “Intracellular Reverse Transcription of Pfizer BioNTech COVID-19 mRNA Vaccine BNT162b2 In Vitro in Human Liver Cell Line.” It describes in detail finding that the mRNA vaccines permanently alter DNA within the cell nucleus in vitro. I’m shocked, shocked and appalled. The CDC PROMISED that this COULD NOT happen, that it’s completely impossible, and then they told Facebook to cancel anybody who suggested that the vaccines could change your DNA.

Whoops.

The abstract concludes that “BNT162b2 mRNA is reverse transcribed intracellularly into DNA in as fast as 6 hours upon BNT162b2 exposure.”

Six hours! Lickety-split.

What remains unknown is whether the body will destroy cells with altered DNA, but the study points out the mechanism could be carcinogenic. Funny, but journal editors used to make SURE that these kinds of studies never saw daylight. What’s happening?

💉 New Zealand’s highest court ruled in favor of police and defense forces yesterday, finding that the horse-faced Prime Minister’s vaccine mandate was not “demonstrably justified.” The plaintiffs argued that the mandate violated the New Zealand Bill of Rights Act 1990 in two ways: the right to refuse a medical treatment and the right to manifest religious beliefs.

“I conclude that the Order does not involve a reasonable limit on the applicants’ rights that can be demonstrably justified in a free and democratic society and that it is unlawful,” the Court said.
