Thank you, Jeff. You have no idea how much we all needed this. And, like many others, your C & C updates have become an essential part of my morning. Like the Doctors at Sen Johnson’s roundtable, you are a true pandemic hero warrior. It’s people like you who protect the rest of us. And, btw, this comes from a Bernie-supporting Vermonter who, yes, now identifies as a staunch Republican.

Republican!? Why stop there? Why set your sights and ambitions so LOW. Republicans are worse then dems. At least we know Dems are clueless economically ignorant ideologues. We knew where they stand. They say they are for socialist hell and they mean it. THe republicans talk a good game about free markets and limited gov but then they get power and they act just like Dems just with different crony constituencies. The best government is NOT that which governs least. The best government is NO government. There is a big difference between governANCE and governMENT. Free people have rules, they do NOT need RULERS!

If you are going to drink from the well-spring of liberty, chose the top shelf stuff, the cream, the gold standard: Rothbard.

Related to the point that we now know who our friends are, we now have a better view of which churches truly believe that Christ is king. The ones that went along with masking and/or closed their doors, are suspect. Those that are still doing it or, worse, are segregating people based upon vax status or masks are showing that they worship an idol.

Agreed, Craig. Makes one wonder: if all the churches stood against the unlawful order to shut their doors from the very beginning, would any of this have happened? 🤔 Once their doors closed, churches were instantly deemed "non-essential" and those with only a surface faith have never returned.

As you said though, now we know where truth really lives.

INGRID C DURDEN's avatar

And the ones that stayed open were blasphemed by the rest. Pastors who kept on going, and got sick, were considered outlaws. Very very sad. If you believe in government or doctors or needles more than in true God, where is the world heading to?

A good point. Now we know, and won't accept the BS rules again.

No such thing as "surface faith" This is an euphemism for misplaced faith. What4ver it is we believe in, we belive wholeheartedly. And act upon that faith. Those who swallowed the KoolAde and locked their doors had a faith that as solidly invested in gummit and lies, and NOT in the true Lordship of Christ.

Early church history had our bretheren going about amongst the deathly sick , tending them, ignoring al the "warnings" simply living the ve of Christ for the sick, and trusing in God's faithfulness. Mamy caught those diseases and died. Many more did not. But their testimony was loud and clear.

Much as I disargree with Johnny Mac on some ting,s I greatly admire his spine to stand strong and tell the dingbats of Los Angeles city government, AND the bnk, to shove off, that HE would not be moved. I aughed out loud when the Jewish congregatioin up the block GAVE them free use of their car park, since the city ahd "leaned" on the bank to close theirs after many decades of use.

Copernicus's avatar

Absolutely.

We are now looking for a new community of believers. One that, when the fan gets hit, will have each other’s backs.

Our current church, based on the logic by which they have continued requiring masks, would, apparently have no problem turning over to government a list of unvaxxed parishioners, in the name of honoring the authorities, helping people feel safe, and reducing numbers in the hospital.

I have been incredibly disappointed by the response of the Christian Medical and Dental Associations, and by a huge majority of my Christian physician friends, who have been mouthpieces for the CDC. Very little willingness to actually discuss the moral and ethical concerns that people have had.

As a nurse, I was required to get jabbed or I could “apply” for an exemption. The RE my employer required was quite detailed & invasive. To back up my RE I requested a letter from my church, basically saying I’ve been a regular, tithing & present member for 12 years. I was told they are not providing RE letters because our church members are both vaccinated & unvaccinated, so essentially they are identifying as Switzerland. It had nothing to do with what anyone believes except ME! I’m now struggling what to do with this feeling of abandonment.

Wow. And I thought that the RE form that I filled out was intrusive. Not sure that tithing and attendance can be taken as true and accurate indicators of one's faith, beliefs, and spirituality. Sometimes, those who are overt and visible for these acts want or need the attention and recognition while the faithful go quietly about their daily lives.

The form I had included a second form for an Attestation from my spiritual leader. Don't have one. Don't go to a particular building or identify with an organization. They required the 2nd form and accepted the brief 'attestation' from a person who has known me for over 40 years.

Agree completely! No one can ever truly know about my personal relationship with Christ. I’m waiting for all the lawsuits to hit in the coming years from intrusive, religious discrimination. Both from those who were not exempted & by those who were basically put on trial regarding their religion. These people need to get back in their lanes! I used my letter to not only to seek an exemption, but also to both shame them for asking & to witness. Perhaps they figured out I knew my rights & that’s why I was granted one. Hopefully, it’s because they found a little bit of Jesus.

A few comments from a very recent Democrat: I love the rhetoric I hear from a lot of prominent Republicans on all this bs, and I will no doubt be voting red for the foreseeable future. But one lesson I've learned is try to be truly non-partisan. Tribalism blinds us (believe me... I see it all around me in the worst way). The awful bill to give the CDC a ton of money to create a national vaccine data base was supported by all Democratic Reps along with a disturbing number of Republican Reps. I think long-time conservatives call those folks RINOs, and they are not our friends.

For me the silver lining was finally learning that I should stop going into the city (Philadelphia) for any reason, not for culture, not for music, not for dining - nothing. They don't want me there, they don't want my money or custom. Oh and they hate me and my family. It was finally indisputably shown, out in the open, especially now with the vaccine passport system in town. And every business owner I know in town LOVES the mandate.

I'm close to retirement and we had considered actually moving back to town after we retired. THAT Is definitely not happening now! Whew! I also had a small rental property that I am very glad to say I sold for a nice profit. Done! No ties to the city any longer.

They will do fine on their own, I'm sure, without me and others like me. All those fancy restaurants that HATE those of us who live outside the city can just serve hipster food to fellow hipsters. I'm sure they can afford it just fine. The museums etc are much happier taking federal "relief" funds and not having any visitors. They won't miss all the icky suburban kids coming in (they won't; the city is unsafe). They're happier with things nice and quiet, other than the gunfire, of course.

You're right about so much of this but just FYI I know business owners in Philadelphia who definitely do not love the mandate! Many of us in Philadelphia are fighting the overreach, and many others aren't fighting but recognize that it's absurd. I teach students from ultra-blue Dem families, and most are sold on the narrative but a significant portion think it's alarming, and there are others who are not as concerned as they should be but definitely think it's an exaggerated response.

Thank you for putting things in perspective! I just hope now that something can be done about the military mandate. My son-in-law, the sole provider for a family of eight, was just denied his religious exemption, again (this was to his appeal to his first denial). I’ve never seen a more convincing exemption request and they’ve treated him as though he just said “because I want an exemption” - with no thought process behind it. He was given 5 days to get the first jab, or 5 days to start his separation paperwork, or the AF will start their process. It’s unbelievable; they are breaking their own rules without a blink of an eye. He won’t be taking the jab and he won’t be forced into separating on his own, so it will be interesting to see how they proceed. Prayers appreciated!

I will pray for your son, Amy, and for so many others like him out there. My 20 y/o son, despite my desperate attempts the change his mind, decided to give in and get the jab. He is on an ROTC scholarship, so healthy, with so much potential, and the Army is all he's wanted to do for a long time. It's bad enough that he's gotten the first 2 jabs, but now my fear is that he's locked into an endless schedule of boosters, as long as he continues to stay in the military. I am greatly discouraged by the lack of voices out there talking about/fighting for the military members and the mandate to get this jab. And yes, we understand that when they choose to join the military, they also sacrifice their rights to many things, and have always been required to receive many vaccines and shots, depending on where in the world they're serving. But what about the right to REFUSE an EXPERIMENTAL so-called vaccine?? I fear that these service members are mostly forgotten by the average person and legislator, with very few exceptions.

Jen, my daughter is also on a ROTC scholarship. She has a religious exemption at her school and we're praying that by the time she graduates (she's a freshman) they will have been forced to rescind the mandate. She's going to approach the cadre to see if they'll continue to support her RE when she commissions, and if they won't, then she'll ask them to release her from her contract. We'll owe a year at a super expensive school (aren't they all these days?!) but that's ok. I mentioned to Amy in her above comment that my active duty husband sustained heart damage from his shots, so I feel an even greater urgency to protect her. I will be praying for your son, too. My son was already seeing signs in his cadre of the leadership making the lives of the unvaxxed difficult, purposefully singling them out., and I couldn't persuade him to consider changing to a different path for his career and life. Praying for our children, and that somehow the military mandate will be overturned! Romans 8:28

I agree. I feel that many people shrug it off, saying, as you said, “you signed up for this”. They sign up to defend our country and our constitution; they don’t sign up to be slaves, losing all rights for which they are fighting. And with all the vaccines they take, there isn’t a problem getting an exemption…just this SHOT which isn’t a vaccine. Plus, reading my SIL’s correspondence throughout this process, it is truly amazing how they have NO issue with breaking their own rules/laws. They (commanders) should be court-martialed over this.

I also have a son still waiting to hear back on his exemption request. He’s preparing for a denial as well.

What’s really sad for my two is they’ve both got over 10 years in and planned on making it their career.

And I pray that those, especially the children, who have lost so much, will be blessed 100 fold for their pain and suffering.

Thanks again, Jeff, for all you do for the community of Coffee & Covid!

Thank you so much for this! I knew things would shift in a big way. I even knew the timing! Hell has frozen over!

Yesterday afternoon, after years of dithering, and much drama, I attended my 3rd gun class. Drama? I lost track of time while reading my new Bible, looked up & saw it was almost time for class to start & there I was, on the couch in my jammies! I texted the teacher, raced to get dressed & let the dogs out for last pp. Gracie came right back, but sr Luna saw my clothes & purse & just *knew* we were going for a ride. A 20 minute chase ensued around my hilly minifarm which is currently clothed in 2" of glare ice topped by 2" of powdery snow. Anyway, still in 1 piece I finally caught Luna, cussing & crying, jumped in my car & drove like the wind!

Class 3 was out of the classroom & at the indoor range. Turned out the other students had re-scheduled, so I had a nearly 2-hour private.

In which I qualified for concealed carry! Woot! 👯👯👯

I plan to open carry. When I had a big black doggo I learned how it felt to be treated with respect by bullies. Not so much with my smaller puppers. My next will be a gsd, but that could be a while...

I'm just excited to pass. The written test was easy. I was afraid I'd fail the shooting. The lighting was very poor indoors, so I had a really hard time focussing on the front sight. Turned out I'd fogged up my safety glasses!

It depends on what else is passed with it. Texas is a an example of Constitutional carry not meaning much since signs carry force of law.

Right now, in Florida they don’t. If they pass Constitutional carry here but add a provision giving signs force of law there would be fewer places it’s legal to carry, which defeats the purpose.

Good for you. I've been dithering myself, about getting training and owning "protection". What was it that pushed you over the line and finally do it, if I may ask?

Short answer is upgrade theoretical support for 2a to practical.

Loooong answer:

I've had problems in past from stalker, trespassers, & attacks by large loose unsupervised aggressive dogs. My senior dog & I were attacked by a pack of large dogs a couple years back. Then came Covid & nra training shut down.

Then came the looming threat of compulsory jabs & that was it. I wrote recently that the day they show up at my door (which they were doing for a while with Xiden's "outreach" in Maryland, harassing people who would "yeah, I'm gonna" just to get rid of them. So they'd call over jabbers hiding a short distance away, putting the suckers on the spot.) That the day they try to force is the day I turn violent.

So I looked to see if nra was teaching again, & they were, but too far away. Then the adult ed catalog came & lo & behold, they convinced a nearby high school to allow classes there, jumped thru a lot of hoops to waive gun ban in schools. I was wait listed last August. The classes fill long before the catalog comes out & they had to add extra in. I almost didn't sign up because Maine. January. (F15 below last night!)

Overall, lucked out on weather.

Went to class 2021 when all of the coverage of peaceful protests were exposed as riots with arson and violence. Stopped feeling safe in my own home. Attended with my son, daughter-in-law, her sister, friends; we comprised about 70% of the class

For me, God used my bout with COVID to truly OPEN my eyes to all that He has done, IS doing, and will do! I hope this is the turnaround our country needed, but if not, and we’re like Narnia in The Last Battle, God will still equip us for whatever lies ahead. God used COVID to help me connect with a group of ladies I now can’t imagine doing life without. Our group is called Warrior Women and we meet to share updates on everything from public school issues, to COVID to pro-life issues, and to pray and encourage one another. What Satan meant to use to tear down and destroy, God can and is using to build up and restore. And who can forget that because of COVID, we all found YOU Jeff!!! Thanks for all you do to keep our spirits lifted. This is your “for such a time as this” Esther moment and you are using your purpose to its fullest! ❤️

Thanks for this uplifting post, Jeff, and thanks for braving the DC arctic to speak for us. My daughter works for a government contractor and could have lost her job because she would not take the injection. Your posts and efforts to stop the mandate gave her the strength to remain firm in her resolve while some of her coworkers caved. She also used your guidelines to draft her religious and medical objections to the jab. No response to those yet, but they backed off the no jab, no job policy when the mandate was squashed. Keep fighting. You are a brilliant tactician and we are behind you!

Jeff - I think that it's also important to note that the Democrats have no one waiting in the wings nationally. The fact that they are talking about running Hillary and Pelosi again proves that the cupboard is bare. Mayor Pete can't be the future of that party. On the other side, you have DeSantis, Gaetz, Greene, and a number of other young-ish names.

When you combine the lack of new Democrat political leaders with a populace that is increasingly distrustful of corporate media, you have the potential for change.

They didn't have anyone "waiting in the wings" in 2020, either. Do you remember the circus that was the Democrat Debates? Ten clowns on the stage with the only coherent moment being Tulsi Gabbard's takedown of Kamala. Kamala dropped out quickly and Joe limped along in fifth place until South Carolina. Now we have Joe and Kamala in the Oval Office. Let's not fool ourselves. It was all theater as it always was and always will be on both sides.

Stephen Breyer is being pushed out of the Supreme Court, so Potato can appoint Kamala. They need to get her off the ticket asap.

Then Hitlery will slide in to the VP role.

Then Potato will be sidelined.

Profit!

The trouble is the entrenched party powers that control the nominations. It is almost impossible to field a candidate who is not already a bought and paid for establishment pawn. Trump was able to get past this due to $, and tv celebrity. If a true small govt patriot like Ron Paul could not get nominated, then the system is handicapped, primarily due to MSM controlling flow of info and consequent public opinion.

Good point. I would think it would be easy to run for office on a platform of freedom, faith and family at this point. No longer just slogans, everyone in the country just had a very clear lesson in why those words are important. Democrats want to take your freedom, close your churches and separate your families.

Fox et al are conjecturing Harris to SCOTUS. If successful, is Obama eligible for VP? He didn't hold that role. Otherwise, the strategic planning seems so many chess moves ahead -- who do they select for VP? Do they appoint HRC, since she doesn't seem viable to be elected? What other candidates are loitering on the periphery?
