The question is which is the remaining amendment being passed?!

Expand full comment

The one decreasing the times for member states to respond to changes (from 1.5 years to 6 months) and to let them know if the government agrees with their assessment of what to do in case of a health emergency [or something like that (reduced to 48 hours)].

Expand full comment

Yes, not sure how to do that, though. I thought Biden could do this without the Senate ratifying it?

I am still not seeing how the WHO could have the power to lock down the federation of states in the US? I think we must be fighting for EU since there not sure how those leaders would react. Biden can ask a state to shut down but Biden cannot force it. Remember some states never shut down at all. I know I am being selfish not fighting for EU brothers but since the US is sending trillions to Ukraine I think I’m doing enough.

I’d like to see a US President allow that. Here we are big how many UN troops will they need to stop FL TX ND SD MT and remember the second amendment. So tired of Obama globalism and redistribution of wealth BS. Sick and tired and tired and sick. Good luck to UN and the US biggest mistake was creating the UN in the first place. No way to come to agreement with people fundamentally different than US. EU is great to visit for history but I wouldn’t want to live there unless can disappear on the side of a mountain with no contact with anyone. Ridiculous all these foreign orgs becoming militarized. Ok let’s see how they do with 50 states all every different.

Yeah although Jeff is right. Handing people money is NOT the conservative approach. Better to cut taxes (even if temporarily) and the effect is the same, but sends a different message. In MO, the legislature, flush with federal covid $ is issuing a $500 tax refund to taxPAYERS and using covid money to make up the shortfall.

What we need is some way of stopping all these huge companies like Black Rock from buying up all the single family homes, which drives up the prices and makes it impossible for our kids to buy even a starter home. I heard an unbelievable percentage of home sales are with cash now. There must be some way to put a stop to this.

yep: $6 BILLION - for some reason, I can't post a link here? From Pitchbook (a private equity newsletter)

Blackstone bets on soaring US housing market with $6B buyout

For more than a decade, Blackstone has poured money into the US residential real estate market. Now the buyout giant has made a significant bet on the country's booming housing market with a mega-deal for a company that buys and leases single-family homes.

• The firm's real estate arm has agreed to acquire a majority stake in Home Partners of America in a deal that values the company at $6 billion. Based in Chicago, HPA owns over 17,000 homes across the US, offering rent-to-own programs for residents who eventually want to buy a house.

• The deal comes as much of the US middle class struggles to find affordable housing. The median US home price reached a record $350,000 in May, marking the biggest annual increase in at least 20 years, according to the National Association of Realtors.

• Blackstone previously launched Invitation Homes, another rental company, following the 2008 housing collapse, buying up large swaths of foreclosed single-family homes. The company raised $1.5 billion in an IPO in 2017, with Blackstone selling the rest of its stake for more than $1.7 billion two years later.

• The firm invested $300 million last year in Tricon Residential, a Canadian operator of single-family housing rentals.

Replying to this particular thread: it is good thing to reward those for doing good.

My hope is that eventually we gain ground and momentum enough to change many things by mere force multiplier simply using the voice of millions.

But for now I’m greatly satisfied in the fact we have this medium at Coffee and Covid.

I

Continue to spread our message of Coffee and Covid at every opportunity.

Expand full comment

Yes! Thanks agree, a tax refund is more fair and a conservative approach.

Expand full comment

That’s a hard one.

Although some people would blow through it, others would pay their utilities with it. The idea is to help people get ahead and/or not go further under. Help to buy a home is a hand up. Help with rent is a hand to keep your bed for a while longer due to Co\/. Both are needed.

I’d go toward letting people apply for direct payment of an existing home based debt like rent, utilities, or car payment, and not give anything to individuals earning six+ figures. That would be more directly tied to Co\/, especially if the person is unemployed bc they are not jabbed.

Some nurses’ and teachers’ households (dual income) earn six figures, at least here in CA.

Expand full comment

But the true conservative approach is to say - tax $ is YOUR MONEY and how you spend it is YOUR BUSINESS, but so are the consequences of poor choices. It is up to us, not the government, to help those in need.

Both of my kids are a great example. Both they & spouses worked all thru covid. One, a liberal, spent tons of money on takeout and online shopping. The other & his spouse, conservatives, worked extra, spent next to nothing, and piled up a bunch of cash for a down payment. Bought a fixer upper last April and now cash flowing & building sweat equity fixing it up. The one still renting grouses about how the little guy can't get ahead.

I do feel for those unemployed due to the jab but the US history is full of great stories of people who made lemonade when life handed them lemons. I know one person who loves her new home HC (no jab required) job after losing her hospital job, yeah making a little less money but loves her clients and the autonomy.

Re the Senate issue...I don't know what the latest is about it. Sen Johnson publicly stated he's aware on a VSRF zoom...don't have time right now to go find the link. I will later.

If anyone has current info on the Senate issue, please post.

Sen Ron Johnson was on a VSFR zoom recently (around 50 min). When asked about the WHO treaty he initially stated the senate would be required to vote on its approval.

In the chat, comments began appearing that this was not true as there was a new ammendment in the WHO treaty and to have Johnson look at it.

Kirsch read some of these comments outloud and Johnson's response was he was aware and his staff is looking into it (around 1:23:00).

Living with a Constitution "junkie" who has been telling me not to worry because the senate would have to vote on it...well...guess that may not be valid in this situation.

I don't know... if a treaty is amended, is it a new treaty (requiring the consent of the senate), or is it still "the same treaty" (in which case it doesn't)? It probably comes down to whether there's legal precedent one way or the other.

(IMO, amendments should be considered new treaties.)

Expand full comment

The senate should always be required to approve treaties, etc, and do their job as our system of govt requires.

The old SchoolHouse Rock educational ditties should be brought back to educate how the US govt works. Have to say, when the cv *stuff* all started going down, I watched them as a reminder. That said, the one describing the 3 branches of govt as a 3 ring circus with the President as the ring master...what foreshadowing...not to mention the clowns...

June would be the perfect to multiply as they continue to fight for millions of federal employees. If we don’t win this fight, it’s almost certain they will mandate boosters next to coerce even more federal employees. Also, they are fighting the discriminatory “safety protocols” and pursuing multiply self funded class actions EEOC complaints for selectively applying “safety protocols” to those of faith and those “not up to date”. A multiplier would greatly help the success of these efforts . We also have a 501(c) sponsor so any donation would be tax deductible supporting freedom at grass roots level! Thank you again! Look how quickly they changed course. There is an Agent's convention in Las Vegas in a couple of weeks. The agents are not happy with the way the company has been run. The board of directors meet shortly after convention closes. Now is the time to speak up.

Do any cities or communities still have international festivals and celebrations? Back in the '70s and '80s I enjoyed going to big celebrations at convention centers or outdoors areas and these seemed to bring people together. I don't recall protests or negative news articles overshadowing the event. Over a Fri-Sun weekend, and some places had them for longer, we could sample foods from other countries, purchase interesting items, see creative and performance arts, learn about other cultures. Maybe they became labor intensive and not enough worker volunteers to keep them going. I realize that those did not include diversity beyond nationality, but what if they had? Maybe they seemed superficial, but what if they had grown to be more inclusive under one major event. Just wondering here with y'all.

But, maybe would not have improved any of the segregation and divisiveness.

I have been ' informed' that every day had been for heterosexuals, and that every day was for white people, and that these other recognition days bring balance and fairness.

I'm just wondering when short WF from rural ('the country') US will get a day. Sorry for long post that at this point maybe doesn't seem to fit today.
