Just about choked, I was laughing so hard reading that!! 🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂

Ever since watching Soylent Green as a pre-teen, I vowed to never eat anything close to something like that. I’m happy they went down! Yuck 🤮

Lynne Morris's avatar

Me too. Do you realize SG was set in 2022?

ItsMeAgain's avatar

Did not know that. That explains a lot.

I could almost dance with joy with the destruction of the fake food industry🎉🎉. And I have to agree 100% with Jeff. I don’t need to see Trump‘s post. I hope he deletes it. There is only one savior and that is Jesus Christ the son of God. And I hope Eric gets kicked out of Congress.🙏🏻 keep praying for our nation and our leaders for they are fickle humans just like us.🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Fiat Lux's avatar

I agree 100%. My only knock on Trump is that he is so thin skinned when it comes to people who ridicule him. He doesn't understand that those are the people who don't matter to him anyway. Lions do not concern themselves with the opinions of sheep.

We are getting closer…. For serious though, it warms the cockles of me heart to see these fake food scams tanking!

Sharon Sewell's avatar

I’ve thought of that movie many times when I shop for groceries especially now that I’ve seen the words “contains bioengineered ingredients” on the back of packages!

AM Schimberg's avatar

I mean, "natural flavor" could literally be just about anything!

NanaW's avatar

So true!

I’ve read that a lot of companies use that jargon to hide the secret ingredient of cricket powder.

If that is true, and I suspect it is at least to some degree, we need MAHA to make it illegal for food companies to use weasel language like that, which is only there to hide what they don’t want you to see.

Jeffrey N. Gratton's avatar

I suspect MAHA is on the case in that regard. The "natural flavor" scam is already being mortally undermined by the auditing of the GRAS (ingredients "generally regarded as safe") scam wherein MAHA is soon to require PROOF of safety of ALL ingredients.

Chi Zilla's avatar

"Natural flavour?"

Look up Senomyx

NanaW's avatar

Incredibly evil. 😡😧

clem h fandango's avatar

Whoa, I have never seen that! What products say that?!!?

Mary C Irwin's avatar

Start reading more packaging! Nearly every processed food contains “natural flavors” *and* “bioengineered ingredients” now.

clem h fandango's avatar

I read all packaging because the hubby cannot do seed oils or msg(natural flavors)without ending up in the hospital. Maybe I'm just already looking at cleaner stuff?

Mike Gustine's avatar

Also, if you see a "Smart Label" on packaging, it basically means there are bio-engineered ingredients (GMO's) that they want you to have to go to a web site and track down because they know most people won't bother and just buy it anyway.

NanaW's avatar

Good to know! 👍🏻

CitizenA's avatar

Clem, are you asking about “contains bioengineered ingredients “ or about “natural flavor”? I’ve seen both on many many products. Start reading the back of labels on the foods you purchase and you will see them too.

clem h fandango's avatar

The "bioengineered ingredients" I've never seen. I have to avoid all natural flavoring already.

Mike Gustine's avatar

Natural flavor is not necessarily bad depending on the rest of the ingredient list. But it's of course best to just avoid it. I have written to companies who have basically said that it's a way to not give away their secret seasonings that make their product unique. Of course, I'm sure it's not true for all of them by any means, and it is certainly used by many companies to cover up chemical replacements for actual natural flavorings (the FDA considers this acceptable since the flavorings are chemically identical to their natural counterparts).

Kelly's avatar

Hellman's mayo, for one.

Nancy Spurlock's avatar

The cochineal insects ( parasites) used to create red food dye is officially classified as "natural". Shows up on the label as Carmine, cochineal extract, Natural Red 4, or E120. "You vill eat de bugs, und be happy!"

MaryAnn's avatar

Nancy S: that bug dye makes my eyes swell shut. It does not happen quickly but the swelling lasts about 24 hours with antihistamine med. 😖 It is in most foods that are not naturally red: smoky link sausages, pepperoni, etc.

My husband and I still quote that line, often. One year as a gag gift, his father gave him "Soylent Green protein bars".... Hilarious!

If you have not seen it, do yourself a favor and watch Drop Dead Gorgeous, an excellent mockumentary from the 90’s back when comedies were funny. Great, really great, cast—including Amy Adams’ first screen role. One of the beauty pageant contestants’ talent was a Soylent Green monologue.

LiveDreamRepeat's avatar

Adding to my list! Thank you! :)

NanaW's avatar

Plus Kirstie Alley, Allison Janney, Ellen Barkin, Denise Richards!!!

Mary Yungeberg's avatar

Oh that’s awesome!

Jane Tracy's avatar

I remember it too as a young teen! Yuck 🤢

NanaW's avatar

That movie affected a lot of us. It still is super disturbing today, because there are insane elites who actually think like the bad guys in Soylent Green. When I read how some states are jumping on the bandwagon of using the dearly departed as fertilizer, I have to wonder how short a jump it could be to turning them into something they want on our dinner plates.

Lisa's avatar

How about the dearly departed being melted down and washed down the drain which then goes to the water treatment facility which then goes back into the water supply? Yikes!!

The Great Santini's avatar

Not exactly a new thought. One of the reasons that the Aztecs were defeated is that the Spanish found ready allies among their neighbors. It seems that the Aztecs were taking captives, sacrificing them to their sun god and then eating the bodies. It was their solution to a protein problem that occurred because they over-hunted their immediate ecosystem.

VelvetStitching's avatar

Me too! And the Kellogs powdered corn husks coated with enough sugar to spike diabetes.... Yep - looks like Mom and Dad were so right all those decades ago when they would by-pass the sugar coated cereal boxes with all little "free" prizes meant to entice the kiddos and go instead to the isle with the boring box of oatmeal, then to buy a carton of eggs and a side of bacon....

Moral of the story?

Listen to your parents!

You may discover they were right ... in abt 50 years or so! 😁

CMCM's avatar

I haven't eaten cereal in many years, but yesterday I walked thru the cereal aisle and was astounded and how many products there now are. When I was a kid in the 1950s and 60s, I remember just a few cereals: Shredded Wheat, Grape Nuts, Rice Krispies, Cheerios, Corn Flakes (and also Frosted Flakes), Raisin Bran, maybe a couple of others. I know none of them are good for you, but at least the choices were limited and they were not so packed with weird ingredients back then.

Jane Tracy's avatar

My brother and I were just talking about the cereals we ate as kids and not one of them were sweetened! Neither he nor I still don’t like any sweetened cereals as adults.

PEL's avatar

Our mom would not let us get the pre-sweetened ones because they cost more. But then we put so much sugar on the non-sweetened brands that there was always a pile of sugar sludge at the bottom of the bowl that we would then slurp up. Good times.

Mary C Irwin's avatar

Good times indeed! Loved that sugar sludge at the bottom.

JCrutcher's avatar

Put brown sugar on my Cheerios since it was unsweetened.🤣

CMCM's avatar

I loved to sprinkle white sugar over both cheerios and rice krispies. My mom would discourage it, of course.

Ellen Youngling's avatar

We had several cereals to choose from: Puffed Rice, Puffed Wheat, Cheerios and Corn Flakes. I tried Captain Crunch once at a friend’s house, and it absolutely shredded my upper palate. It was sugared into hard, sharp squares that tore up my whole mouth. But I still thought it was a treat compared to Puffed Wheat.

PEL's avatar

I loved soaking grape nuts in the milk until softer before consuming. Also drowning it in sugar to create sludge mentioned above.

Frontera Lupita's avatar

More choices of the same crap!

RunningLogic's avatar

Yup same here 😁 I had smart parents too!

Jon Stephenson's avatar

My parents also refused to buy the sugar cereals, as I do my children.

So Corn Flakes are made from corn husks, not the kernals?

Mike Gustine's avatar

I don't think so. My parents grew up in Battle Creek Michigan which was where Post and Kellogg's both had their factories, and they had family that worked for both. They used actual corn. Whether or not there was some corn husk mixed in is anyone's guess, but probably. Corn Flakes have basically no fiber (1 gram, and 4 grams of sugar)) so I don't think they used corn husks. Maybe they do now, I don't know as I don't eat Corn Flakes.

Jon Stephenson's avatar

Thanks, Jeff mentioned corn husks huge amounts of sugar related to early Kellogg's cereal. I think his history may be off. Corn Flakes was the original cereal, which came out around 1907, while a quick search shows Corn Flakes' sugary brother Frosted Flakes didn't come out until 1951. I'm guessing he's wrong about the corn husk content as well.

RunningLogic's avatar

I think some of it was poetic license but the main theme still is valid.

Kelly's avatar

Take a look at the ingredients. Most has their 1st ingredient listed as wheat

Julie crosson's avatar

When I was growing up it was Wheaties and we were allowed to sprinkle Trix on top- no straight Trix!!

Beckadee's avatar

I bet a sprinkle of the raspberry flavored cricket powder would help.

John the baptist lived on locusts and wild honey 🍯 But maybe God blessed him and kept him healthy despite the diet? 🤷‍♂️

CStone's avatar

That could refer to the fruit of the Locust Tree. It produces pods that have pulp in them that is sweet and very good for you.

CitizenA's avatar

I’ve heard it was most likely the fruit of the Locust Tree as well.

Charles Krug's avatar

Unlikely. Torah specifically declares grasshoppers, locusts, and similar as Kosher, so there's no reason to think that the original audience shared Modern American food aversions. After all, chocolate-covered ants are readily available as a European delicacy, and there are markets in Hispanic neighborhoods that sell grasshoppers and other critters that Americans don't usually eat.

Eating dog in China is a rite of passage for many ExPats, though Chinese themselves don't eat it very often as they prefer pork.

CStone's avatar

Locust Trees grow all over Israel. They aren’t imaginary. And they would speak of them as locusts.

Locusts area considered Kosher, yes. But alternatively he could have simply been eating the fruit of the Locust Tree.

It is often referred to as the locust tree or Saint John’s bread, linking it to historical and biblical references, including the diet of John the Baptist.

Mike Gustine's avatar

Yeah, there are some good plant burgers out there, including the two you mention. If I want something that tastes like hamburger, I will just have a hamburger (from local farms that are all around where I live and just let their cattle graze).

Todays C&C had little humor or use of high stakes vocabulary.

It most definitely rained biological and nutritional illiteracy culminating with

inaccurate assessments.

Not necessary to provide a tuturial on the prebiotic, or gut flora benefits of fiber

in plant based nutrition. Dis-ease avoidance, ethical considerations, environmental

concerns etc. That course was dated 35 years ago.

The "fake meat" burgers are garbage but not for the reasons mentioned.

Glyphosate (Jeff thought it a pesticide not long ago) is in any and all non organic

grains. It causes malignancy but also chronic degenerative dis-ease.

The grains are mostly animal fodder for those that choose "real" meat,

an euphemism for dead animal eating.

Suggesting the AI image is blasphemy is also, an inaccurate assessment.

The Pape is the head of the largest phoney Christian church.

(was raised in that darkness) He also runs a child trafficing racket from his fortified fortress, wears red slippers to mock, while fools engage in meaningless rituals. Drink the blood, eat the body, "con" fession etc etc.

Notre Dame university filled with homosexual "Seminarians" etc etc

However (I do not digress) conflating the image as Jeff has done is sophomoric.

The AI image is designed to suggest the gravity of the current geo political scenario.

DJT is making the best possible decisions, as most readers have been witnessing.

Jesus suggested that "You can do greater things than I". He was not joking.

Someone has to make the toughest decisions. That in no way competes with Jesus.

Last I checked the misunderstood sacrifice happened over 2000 years ago. Nor is it an attempt.

Just a stupid AI image. Get used to them, because otherwise intelligent people

think they are cute.

Matthew 24:32-35 “From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts out its leaves, you know that summer is near.

So also, when you see all these things, you know that he is near, at the very gates.

Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place.

Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.

KC & the Sunshine's avatar

Now we just need to land on what, exactly, is a generation?

Since Israel became a nation in May of 1948, I say we are def in the generation of the fig tree. Not the “untimely figs”, but the real fig tree.

I tend to see prophecy in scripture as largely Jerusalem-centric (for several reasons I won’t go into) so my thought is— see what makes a generation in Israel. According to Alexa (whom I detest, but it’s a little fight my hubs won, so, there she sits) people in Jerusalem live to be about 82.9 years old. So, 1948 + 82.9 =2,030.9

That puts us in September of 2030, although Israel’s calendar is a bit different from our Gregorian calendar. Either way, it seems pretty imminent.

I say, BRING IT!

Sidebar: The bible mentions Israel as being the ONLY country that “was, then was not, then was again”. It was a country, then was no longer a country, then returned in 1948, to once again be a country, thus checking another box ✔️ of prophetic requirements.

The word of God is so cool.

Israel. Israel. Israel. Israel lost their covenant with God. The one and only covenant now is between Christians and God. The New Testament=the New Covenant. WE are now the New Israel. WE are now Israel. Now the problem is how to unite Christians who fight among themselves.

Cynthia's avatar

God keeps His covenants even when people (including Israel) don't. If He didn't keep His promises to Israel, we Christians have nothing to stand on. God has NOT turned His back on Israel and the Church has not replaced Israel. Jesus lay down His life to fulfill God's plan. No one took his life from Him.

Khallas's avatar

No, Israel is still Israel and we are grafted into Israel. Have you read Roman's 11? I am so tired of this mantra. We did not replace Israel.

Susan Matthiesen's avatar

Yes, we did. Do the Jews love Christ? No. Does Ben Shapiro, the most famous Jew on the planet today, love Christ? No. Their fall is not irreparable, so as never to rise again: but by their offending, salvation (through the liberal mercy of God) is come to the Gentiles, that they, the Jews, may be emulous of the Gentiles, and of their happiness, and so may be converted.

Khallas's avatar

So you have to love Christ in order to avoid being cut off from his covenant? What about "While we were yet sinners"? They did not stop being his covenant people because he opened it up to the Gentiles. Of course they have to come through Christ to be saved like everyone else, but he will display his story through the Jews' story until the end of time.

KC & the Sunshine's avatar

Not according to the word and according to Jonathan Cahn, a “completed Jew” who knows the bible AND Judaism backward and forward.

Fre'd Bennett, MAHA's avatar

Not only do the Jews not LOVE Christ Jesus, they despise Him and claim He’s boiling in shit.

If they are your greatest allies, YOU are a traitor to Jesus Christ.

I’m talking to you, you so-called “Christian Zionists.”

Mary C Irwin's avatar

I cannot understand why people can’t understand Romans 9-11. Or Isaiah 66:8. If God goes back on His promise to Abraham, and to Moses, then why should He uphold His promises to me? God does not go back on His promises to the Jews. Everything is unfolding exactly according to the prophesies laid out in the Bible, and Israel is right at the center of them. Jesus is going to return on the Mount of Olives and will reign in Jerusalem. If Israel is wiped out, to satisfy all the Jew-haters, then Jesus can’t fulfill that prophesy. Re-think your theology.

KC & the Sunshine's avatar

PREACH, Mary!!!

This crazy anti-semitism—— in ANY form, is pure stupidity and hatred for the sake of hatred.

Margot Wooster's avatar

Prayerfully read Paul’s letter to the Galatians.

Mary C Irwin's avatar

I know that passage well, Galatians 3:28-29. But that does not thereby negate what the same writer wrote about the Jews in Romans 9-11.

CStone's avatar

So you think God is capricious, like a human being?

Susan Matthiesen's avatar

God is immutable. You know that. Israel BROKE the covenant with God murdering His Son. Get a grip.

Khallas's avatar

And you didnt have any part in killing him, I presume. 🙄

Susan Matthiesen's avatar

And if killing God's Son isn't a deal-breaker, you tell me what is.

KC & the Sunshine's avatar

God longs for Israel to believe in Jesus but he hasn’t chucked them off to the side. Israel is still Israel. The replacement junk is just that— junk.

His heart is with Jerusalem and all of Israel is his beloved. WE TOO are “Israel”— but that doesn’t mean Israel isn’t Israel.

King Zedikiah went to battle (without consulting God?) and Israel was touted. All of them died— the men, BUT his daughters lived, one of whom was named Scota, and sailed with their uncle Joseph the tinman, went over the Caucasus Mtns., hence the label— caucasians, over to form Scotland. There, they still have stories and even hymns abt Joseph the Tin Man, and Scota. Those people are rooted in Israel— as are we, if we are Caucasian. Ethiopians are as well as others.

Anyway, Israel IS Israel.

The early church was made up of JEWS. He has not forsaken them.

He shared the New Covenant with the Gentiles (He would graft a WILD olive branch into the Olive tree (Israel) . And when you brag against Israel, HE also said that he would cut off those branches bragging that that they had replaced Israel and He would graft them (Jews)back in.

When an unfruitful olive branch is cut off an olive tree, it can lay for years beside the tree. Then a tree surgeon can come along, cut a slit in the Olive tree, pick up a dead branch and place it in the slit in its side, wraps it in linen, and 3 says!! later, the branch will once again be a part of that olive tree.

I always thought the slit in Yeshua’s side was just yet another injustice that put it over the top.

But it wasn’t.

It was to graft us into the Tree.

3 days….resurrection

Wrapped in linen.

Wild olive branch…..you and me

And then, suddenly, the original branch is grafted back in.

When you boast AGAINST the original branches, He takes offense. Please read what the Word says about it in Romans

RJ Rambler's avatar

Replacement theology has taken over the grafted in truth and now is approving of anti semitism which is fulfilling the prophecies of Revelation that some believe have already been fulfilled and we have entered the 1000 peaceful reign of Christ on Earth. 🤔🤷🏼‍♀️ 😵‍💫

It was not the Romans who cried, "CRUCIFY HIM, CRUCIFY HIM!". It was the Jews. The Jews demanded that Pilate send Our Lord to die by crucifixion. The Roman soldiers obeyed Pilate's orders. Pilate gave in to the demand of the Jews.

What is even more interesting is that there was not one person who wrote about Jesus, who ever saw him in person, spoke to him, etc.

Khallas's avatar

Josephus wrote about him.

Which Israel?

Imagined in 1948?

Dave aka Geezermann's avatar

I should probably refrain from replying, but Israel, in that verse and all of the Old Testament, refers to all the descendants of Jacob, whose name was also called Israel, whose Grandfather Abraham made the covenant with Yahweh.

In other words, not just the Jews from the Tribe of Judah, but all the other hundreds of millions of Israelites alive today who are not Jews physically speaking. The nation state in the middle east by that name is somewhat misleading, and should be called Judea.

MarshaLouise's avatar

Never refrain from such valid responses, Dave.

John infinity N's's avatar

I’d like to add to that Dave. After Solomon died, the nation of Israel was split. The northern kingdom of 10 tribes was called Israel because it retained the tribes of Ephraim and Manassah who were Josephs kids whom he blessed. 1 Chronicles 5:2 tells us the birthright remained with Joseph so anyone calling themselves Israel needed to be incorporated with the head tribe who retained the birthright name. This northern nation even had their own capital city of Samaria and their own lines of kings. The southern kingdom was the tribes of Judah and Benjamin with capital city of Jerusalem and its own line of kings. The 2 kingdoms fought with each other at times through the books of 1&2 Kings and Chronicles. The Scepter was given to Judah so the Judah line had to give birth to the Messiah. The prophets all have different prophesies for Israel and for Judah so they are separate. God divorced the kingdom of Israel (ref Hosea) and sent them off the land to Assyria in 745BC and they were considered lost (lost their national identity) and blinded. They were settled near the Black and Caspian seas near the Caucasus mountains eventually migrating into Europe when Babylon conquered Assyria. Judah on the other hand was not divorced from God but was temporarily deported to Babylon around 604BC for 70 years. Jeremiah speaks about the good and bad figs of Judah. They came back to the land and rebuilt the temple (see Ezra) and eventually had to birth the Messiah in Bethlehem. According to Josephus, Edom was absorbed into modern Jewry by John Hercanus around 125BC. This is not disputed. Edom was the descendants of Esau, Jacobs brother. So the modern “Judeans”, “Judahites”, or “Jews” for short have elements of Jeremiah’s bad figs and Edomites. These are not allowed to call themselves “Israel” as they are not united with the birthright tribe of Joseph (Ephraim and Manassah). Jacob stole the birthright from Esau in an unlawful manner by deceiving Isaac in Genesis and acting like he was Esau. Hence, God saw fit to return the birthright to Esau for a season to prove he was unworthy. Since God blinded Israel, God allowed Esau to take the birthright back for a season under the name Israel similar to how Jacob stole the birthright while Isaac was blind.

John infinity N's's avatar

To add to that, the true Jews (good figs of Judah) are the ones of heart circumcision as Paul says, not geneology. True Jews submit to the King of Judah (Jesus Christ). Same with true Israel. Christ will repair the breach between Israel and Judah. Bloodthirstyness comes from the spirit of Esau/Edom. Edom means red.

Pope Leo should stay in his lane.

Juju's avatar

I didn’t see the meme the way Jeff did. I saw it as Trump doing God’s work, because God uses man to do His will. So it was a slam to the one man who should be doing God’s work but isn’t, The Pope.

The Pope remained silent about the slaughter of 40,000+ Iranians by their own government. Not even a mild chastisement was given.

The Pope remains silent about the genocide of Christians in Nigeria.

Any condemnation about a righteous war against a terrorist regime is disgusting in my book in light of the Pope’s silence on the other things.

The Pope is clearly anti-Trump and that can only be due to “political interests” feeding him TDS.

Nothing in Trump’s post about the Pope was a lie. But even in Jesus’ day, when Jesus spoke the truth to religious leaders, they crucified him. (No I’m not making Trump equal to Jesus, I’m pointing out that religious leaders and their followers have ALWAYS hated hearing the truth when it exposes their hypocrisy.)

M. Patrick McCrary's avatar

I agree with Juju. If Trump had said he was playing Jesus in that meme, that would have been over the top but I see him dressed as the pope and suggesting that he is doing a better job in carrying out Christ's will than an elected "Spiritual leader" as the Roman Catholic religion considers the papacy.

Annie's avatar

The side by side pictures of his meme and the pope make me think this is the most likely explanation.

In my view, his explanation of his reasoning was very thin. IMHO.

Michelle Enmark, DDS's avatar

Meg D's avatar

My stomach has been churning over this. Thank you for your perspective.

I thought the pope was too critical of Trump over immigration and Iran, but also thought- that’s what he should do. Always remind of us of the primacy to care for our neighbor and the atrocities of any war, so therefore should be avoided.

Trump went over the line. Most practicing Catholics are also unhappy about Trumps support of the abortion pill and IVF. This has sent many over the cliff, I’m hanging by my fingernails.

Of course with the Democratic Party heading where it is, there’s still little choice.

Indeed, not sure that Pope Leo has been an equal opportunity chastiser of world evils.

CStone's avatar

Trump isn’t pro-abortion. He got that sent back to the states, where it belonged. There are states in which there are demonic strongholds. Let the states decide how demonic they want to be, let them “sow the wind and reap the whirlwind”.

Let them be judged for their wickedness. And let the states that voted AGAINST murdering babies NOT have to be judged for that.

Trump did that.!

Meg D's avatar

He has done better than any president for the pro- life movement, and moving the decision to individual states is probably the best option in the long run. We need to change hearts and minds.

However he has been promoting IVF, which entails killing embryos, and the abortion pill is harming women in huge numbers- they do not have to adhere to any safety standards (or reporting of harm) or prerequisites or qualifications to dispense by mail to anyone in any state. He does not want to touch that one. Interstate dispensing needs to be addressed federally.

I do give him credit where credit is due. Trump has turned around many egregious trajectories in government/culture.

The line between good & evil runs down the human heart and moves one way or the other with every word (tweet!) and deed we do. Glad Jesus is the Judge and not me!

Karmy's avatar

Meg D my viewpoint is that the Pope is a man. A sinner just like the rest of us. He has opinions and I think he needs to be aware that whatever he says that is political will be controversial. I trust in Jesus and that's all that matters. In my opinion I think God has His hand on President Trump. How else can such a flawed man be so reviled, persecuted over so many years yet be successful doing things that are not normal. God's Will be done.

Willing Spirit's avatar

My local Catholic Church is full of ‘practicing Leftists’ who are fully in support of ‘women’s rights, LGBTQ rights…’, etc., etc. But they would never vote for Trump; who is not pro abortion, by the way. PEL's avatar

Willing Spirit's avatar

Might as well be! But it’s in the family, you know…Catholic as far back as anyone remembers. Treated like a social club.

Michelle Enmark, DDS's avatar

I agree with much of your comment, Meg D. Problem is that unless the Pope is making lots of comments about other countries and their leaders that we don’t hear about, which is possible and I’d like to read them, he seems to be laser focused on calling out the US leadership, specifically our President, and Israel in this case. I think it’s gotten out of hand from both sides. Trump takes the bait quite often, not one of his great qualities in my opinion. Sometimes it’s important to turn the other cheek, to use a Biblical reference, and/or make very specific tactfully placed comments. Trump seems to be good at strategy and then fails to act strategically in situations like this. In doing so, I think he does damage to himself and his legacy which some say he cares a lot about. The Pope needs to stick to general broad messaging and stop it with these seemingly pointed attacks. They both seem to be degenerating in their little tiff, and it’s very unbecoming.

M. Patrick McCrary's avatar

I'm wondering if the Catholic hieracrchy elected their first American pope just to be a bigger thorn in President Trump's side rather than their usual foreigner that is easier to dismiss when he is critical of the US in some way.

azbill's avatar

Trump got Roe overturned with his SCOTUS picks. He's most definitely not pro abortion.

This Pope and his immediate predecessor are essentially communists.

I am Catholic, but do not respect him for his selective outrage. Rampant pedophilia unchecked by decades of Popes, ignoring the plight of Christians in Africa and parts of Asia, and dismissing the Persian people of Iran's plight deserve no respect. I wish he'd sit down and shut up.

However he is in a 4 br apartment paying full rent because he can’t find a single roommate, even though he is a 15 min drive from multiple colleges and right off a primary expressway. He’s been trying to find roommates since last September. He has no social connections to help either, as that has always been a challenge for him.

So basically almost his entire after tax salary that could have been used to quickly pay down student loan and save up for emergency funds, retirement funds, future home down payment, and buying a car has been eaten up by rent 4x what he expected to pay. So that has placed a distraught damper on things. He will probably have to move again this summer, which will be the third time since last summer. ☹️ And he really loves his apartment. I’m shocked he can’t find roommates give how huge and brand new it is, and how cheap the rent would be with four of them.

But … he did find a church that he likes and started to attend, and that made me happy.

I just feel bad for him that he can’t benefit from the salary he was given and is living paycheck to paycheck with a salary that you shouldn’t have to, as it’s going right back into the pockets of private equity firms instead of towards his future.

Pope Leo should read his bible. Surely he has one. Psalms 144:1, “Blessed be the Lord my strength, which teaches my hands to WAR, and my fingers to fight.”

Does he not teach that David fought Goliath? And David, a man after God’s own heart, fought plenty of other battles? And hundreds of battles were fought, which the kings sought the Lord’s direction over, and God said, YES, go for it, and God even fought FOR them? He sent hailstones, whirlwinds, and did all kinds of crazy things to win wars for them? In Joshua, God sent so many huge hailstones, God himself killed more of the enemy than Joshua and his soldiers killed.

And is the pope not glad that we (the USA) fought certain wars? Or would he rather we have heeded his call for peace and sat out the Revolutionary War? The CIVIL WAR? Would he proclaim peace and leave the country mired in slavery? And would he proclaim peace and have left the Jews at the hands of the Nazis?

I can’t stand what Trump posted in answer to the pope. I too, long for him to delete it. I wish with all my might that Trump would use Jeff or someone equally wise as a sounding board before saying/posting certain things. I also long for the pope to rethink his position. It’s easy to sit around in your silly costume and say, “Peace, peace…” but honestly, read your bible pope, and then consider where we would be if all popes sat around saying what you’re saying, and if we actually listened and sat wars out like the Amish.

ha ha, So a bunch of old geezers sit in a room and say this guy here put in his time so we'll make him the boss now. Cue the smoke from the window. So he claims to speak for God, like none of us can get the the big guy without the grand poobah intervening and "interpreting" what the big guy is saying to us. All a creation of an organization that wanted control of the masses and wealth.

MarshaLouise's avatar

Peter, the Rock…designated by Jesus! What do you think is implied here?

Cousin Clem's avatar

Jesus taught that anyone could do what he did. God was accessible to everyone. No intermediary necessary. Some state that Jesus was implying that Simon was getting that "message". An understanding that he grasped the teaching. Of course a group that wants control of the masses would need to establish that this was Jesus saying build an organization upon his teachings, which, knowing how Jesus felt about the pharisees, I doubt that was the implication. The wonders of common religions are that they go so far back in time that no one can see the origins and anyone can make claims as to what ancient texts (re-translated endless times) really mean. That is the problem more modern religions have. If you can see how they actually started, you can see it's usually a bogus origin story. I'm no biblical scholar but I see how cults get started and the history of the catholic church is not always a pretty one. They ran most of Europe like any gov't and used some brutal practices to maintain power and accumulate wealth. The modern catholic church is still run like a large corporation and holds vast wealth in real estate, treasure, investments.....all tax free.

John 17:17–19 gives us what we might describe as the theology of ordination, as Jesus consecrates the apostles in 17:17 (consecration in Christ the truth), sends them on mission in 17:18, and in 17:19, declares their consecration springs from his own consecration to the Father. Jesus commanding the apostles to “do this in memory of me” during the Last Supper (Luke 22:19) is the Synoptic account of the apostles receiving their priesthood from Jesus. In John 20, Jesus gives his apostles the power to forgive sins after bestowing the Holy Spirit upon them. During Jesus’ last appearance risen from the dead, he commissioned the apostles to minister in his name to the whole world. The Twelve were reconstituted again before the revelation of the Church to the world at Pentecost, and following Pentecost, they continued Jesus’ ministry: what Jesus began to do during his earthly ministry, he continues to do through the apostles after Pentecost.

There’s a sect of Catholicism that seeks to overtake the American government. Completely. It is not the traditional Catholics as we know them. They see the original Protestant faith that our constitution was founded on to be an impediment that needs to be removed first. It’s possible this pope actually belongs to that sect/way of thinking and sees Trump as a representative of the faith of the founding fathers. Looking at it that way then the Pope’s contention with our present government makes sense, because they would want to control the masses by weaponizing their faith and their guilt against Protestant principles.

Gym+Fritz's avatar

Disappointed in the Pope. Someone should call the man in him aside, and remind him that sometimes it’s better to say nothing; that his infallibility is very limited, and does not include politics; and that what he says can reflect poorly on the great institution he was chosen to lead. It's only the Catholic Church that gets the hate here. Why not post your hatred also to protestant churches? The Baptists (are they followers of John the Baptist?), Lutherans (followers of Luther), Presbyterians (followers of their elders), Evangelicals (followers of themselves being their own pope). I'll tell you why. Because the Catholic Church is the Church that Christ founded and it is THE church that Satan tries to destroy. Your protestant history of 5 minutes ago tells you lies that you naïvely believe instead of investigating for yourselves from the Catholic point of view. Satan hates the Catholic Church which is why we had Francis and now Leo. They are the result of Modernism in the Church for over 100 years. There are obvious pros and cons to the war with Iran, but there is no doubt energy is the lifeblood of a growing thriving society and economy. Without fulfilling a countries energy demands it will wither and die on the vine. America is now producing more crude oil than Saudi Arabia and Russia combined.

Iran was 80% of the oil bought by China not using the petro dollar, and Venezuela was the other 20%. With this Iranian blockade and Trumps booting of Maduro out of Venezuela, Trump has taken control of both of these major Chinese energy sources. This also puts a chokehold on energy going to most of Europe and beyond. It is pushing hundreds of oil tankers right into the Gulf of AMERICA, making American Oil Companies the greatest of all time.

Never forget, when China and Fauci produced the Covid virus in Wuhan and then sent infected people all over the world, China had just recently bought up millions in Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and then sold it back to us and the world for huge profits. You live by the sword you die by the sword.

If I were to guess China is more likely to pressure Iran to opt for a peace deal than to start threatening the US with hostilities. So say what you will, by Trump doing this he has stuck America’s big boot right up Chinas kiester 😂😂😂. Happy Monday!!

I fear China much more than I have ever feared Russia, but I need to make one small point here. The gain of function research that created that virus was done by Ralph Baric at the university of North Carolina right here in the good old USA. The moratorium on gain of function research(which was little more than a slap on the wrist) is what forced Fauci, through the privately owned Eco Health Alliance, (that could not be F.O.I.A.ed) to bring the operation overseas to the Wuhan Institute of Virology. Our own government has been working on bioweapons for decades. We actually hired former Nazis and Japanese scientists to do some of this work after World War II. Not saying I know whether or not the Chinese released the thing on purpose. Considering things like Event 201, I believe it was released on purpose.

I knew it also. I used to watch Dr. Chris Martenson every day, and he pointed out the furin cleavage site (I think it was called) that proved that the virus was bio-engineered.

Dr. Francis Boyle also pointed it out immediately.

As it turns out, so did multiple other scientists, who told Dr. Fauci, and were then bribed with grants into signing a letter saying otherwise. That should have been a ballyhooed scandal, but not in the corrupt country we live in.

We was conned, but thanks to the internet, we had a chance to know better.

Sequester only those at risk (primarily elders with co-morbidity and those with compromised immune systems) and let everyone else go about their business. Paper masks, 6 ft spacing, forcing shots on people who didn't need them were all criminally wrong.

I said so at the time, as did many others, but the passive sheep in our population just wanted to surrender their freedom to a bunch of bureaucratic charlatans. My next door neighbor, a trained (but not practicing) pediatrician, actually had her husband strip off his clothes in the garage and take a shower whenever he came back from work before being allowed in the house. She was one of those driving alone in her car with a mask on. Lovely woman, but scared out of her wits believing the Fauci idiocy.

Say what you may about Bobby Kennedy, but he's assembled a bright team of actual medical brain power, not least of which is Jay Batacharia (I know I've spelled that wrong) who was pointing out immediately, and at great pain to his professional career, how truly wrong Fauci's policies were at the time, not in hindsight.

Regardless of what many believe is the reason why President Trump took this Military action against the Iranian Theocracy, I believe his main motivation was to bring an end to the hostilities and terrorist threats in that region.

While it can be said President Trump didn't need to take these steps at this moment in time, he did so in order to bring peace to this region which has had the nation of Iran and the Theocratic thugs of the IRGC raining death and destruction down on one of America's allies, Israel, and threatening "Death to America" for over 50 years.

All the while, this terrorist regime as claimed control of the Strait through which many of America's other long-time allies count on getting their oil and gas supplies from.

President Trump saw this opportunity to have the nations of the world unite behind him in finally beating the bullies of Iranian terror down and having them see their hatred and murderous ways of the past will not longer be tolerated.

President Trump is securing a place for himself in history right now, undertaking a mission no other world leader dared to begin.

Say what you will about his motivations for this event in time, however, one must look at it in a larger perspective, as a time in the history of the world when a single leader saw an opportunity to bring peace to a region dominated by hatred, controlling huge energy resources, while looking down the barrels of their guns.

There are quite a number of "questionable world leaders" hiding behind their condemnation of President Trump and their own cowardice, but there are even more in our own country who are can only utilize hate and division to hide behind their "cowardly lion" political stances.

Be proud that we finally elected a President who isn't just another "cowardly lying" politician.

Progress: Omani Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi noted "significant" and "substantial" progress in high-stakes talks held in Geneva.

Nuclear Constraints: Iran reportedly agreed to "zero stockpiling" of nuclear material that could create a bomb.

Verification: Iran expressed willingness to allow the IAEA "full access" to verify compliance, according to Albusaidi.

Next Steps: Technical discussions were planned for Vienna to turn the framework into a final agreement.

Context: The discussions were aimed at lowering high tensions, as the U.S. had previously considered strikes against Iran and made significant military builds in the region.

BBC

Despite the reported progress, differences remained on certain issues and official US confirmation of specific terms was limited at the time.

If we are now the number one producer of oil with no one coming even close to second place, why are our gas prices so high?

Because its a global market. Meanwhile our gas prices are still significantly below the rest of the world, not to mention the prices during much of Biden's reign of ignorance.

America is now producing more crude oil than Saudi Arabia and Russia combined. - but we still consume more than we produce (20 mm bbls/day v. 13mm bbls/day) - so I don't really see a net benefit - meanwhile Trump told Maria B this morning that oil prices, and gasoline are likely to be "about the same or higher" at the time of the midterms - ouch - while I fully support getting rid of the terrorist regime, I don't see why it couldn't have waited until after the mid-terms

CitizenA's avatar

“… while I fully support getting rid of the terrorist regime, I don't see why it couldn't have waited until after the mid-terms”

Yeah I wish it was after the mid-terms too however - a nuclear Iran was the tipping point; Iran’s was fast tracking it (according to intelligence) so waiting until after the mid-terms could have been disastrous for the world.

“explained that the real problem is Americans who have fallen under the spell of “pseudoscientific jargon” and are experiencing a “resurgence of red meat.” Love this as I have a beef blade roast defrosting on my counter. The beef is from a local beef farmer, processed at a nearby processor. A quarter beef packaged, labeled and resting in my freezer. Literally the best hamburger I have had in 30 years. It made meatloaf almost an out of body experience again.

Juju's avatar

I wish I could find such local quality. Every time I try to buy local meat or grass fed beef, it tastes like liver. Really gross. I grew up on a farm and we always had fresh cow and pig and it NEVER tasted like that. It’s what keeps me from investing $1,000 into quarter cow or whatever.

Elaine Russky's avatar

I remember real chicken, cows, pigs. My grandmother grew these things. I miss real tomatoes the most, though.

azbill's avatar

YES on real tomatoes. Today's version look perfect but taste like plastic!

Stacy's avatar

Well, we can grow anything we want year-round, but our produce has to be durable enough to look pretty after the trip from Central and South America and Canada. 🤦‍♀️

Mary C Irwin's avatar

Some hunters explained to me why some meat tastes more gamey - it’s the butchering technique. When they are lazy and careless, glands are cut and leech into the meat, which causes the yucky taste. If you can figure out a good abbatoir, the local meat will be just as good.

LMWC's avatar
Apr 13Edited

I know this to be true for shooting deer or elk. How soon and the process for processing the venison makes the difference. Deer feed on so many farmer’s crops and feedlots, that the meat doesn’t taste gamely at all any longer.

Our quarter beef was purchased from a farmer 8 miles away. They use a butcher and processor who is excellent. They ask you how you want all your cuts done, how much you get in trimmed out weight and it was all nicely packaged. We are going on3 years and for just two of us, we still have a quarter of the beef left. They have been excellent. It cost us $1200 for everything, hoof to our freezer.

Juju's avatar

Well then there is a LOT of carelessness around where I live, trying to take advantage of those desiring pasture raised grass fed beef/animals

Mary C Irwin's avatar

More likely that they don’t know that it matters.

shayne's avatar

I have an idea about this, Juju. The bulk of beef today in the US is raised on grain in stock yards. They're pumped full of antibiotics and hormones. One to stave off the infections from living in their own waste and the other to get them grown as fast as possible. Their meat is almost tasteless. Now go from that to pasture only raised beef, and it is like eating liver. But that's the way beef has always tasted. The only exception I can think of is diversity of breeds for flavor.

Juju's avatar
Apr 13Edited

I don’t know Shane, I get what you’re saying but I clearly remember fresh beef when I was younger and it never tasted gamey or like liver. Never. My mother made liver once a week and I hated it. I knew what that tasted like as a norm and our beef never tasted that way. I truly believe something else causes it to taste that way.

And I’ve had some delicious, flavorful ribeye over the past few years buying rib roasts and cutting my own. They are industry raised and still had good flavor. I would expect a better taste with grass fed, not worse.

Also, I’ve eaten fresh Bison that is outstanding. If I could get that regularly I’d never eat beef again!

There should be no liver taste with beef, except for the actual liver.

shayne's avatar

We didn't have to eat liver as mum hated it. That and tripe. I like Bison too, I have a freezer full of it.

Juju's avatar

Ooooh where do you get your Bison from??? 😋

shayne's avatar

I buy it from Dillons (Kroger) when they put it on sale. I buy my ground beef from a rancher in Northern California but it has ground liver and heart in it. Their ranch is called Starwalker. If you look online, there are a lot of ranchers who sell bison and venison.

Ken Bissell's avatar

I thought it was just me. It's too bloody, gamey tasting. Does it need to 'age'?

Sandi Olson's avatar

Where do you live? Flavor in beef will change with feed, age and processing -and grass fed can taste different depending on if it was raised on irrigated or dry / native pasture, what type of grasses are present or if it was primarily fed grass hay. There’s plenty of grass fed foreign raised beef on the market as well. An under 2 year old beef breed, grass fed on primarily irrigated pasture will taste different than an older dry milk cow who’s been raised on hay.

Lots of variables to affect taste -

We raise beef cattle and hold back some steers every year for friends who want grass fed beef.

My kids raise also raise steers for the county fair, they are grass and grain fed

Juju's avatar

Interesting. I’m outside Chicago. The farm I grew up on was in north-central IL. That was 50+ years ago though and the connection my parents had back then is no longer alive.

Yeah the fact that it can vary that drastically for so many reasons keeps me from buying a quarter/half a cow. I can’t afford to spend that kind of money and have a freezer full of meat I can’t or don’t want to touch. Especially since I do a low carb diet - I need my meat.

Just A Nobody's avatar

I found that livery tasting grass fed beef came from Australia. I didn't like it and was told they have different grass there than here 🤷🏼‍♀️

But I now buy from a local farmer and it's wonderful.

David A's avatar

I see it a bit differently. The main lock down is twofold, to stop all Iranian oil transport and revenue, and to immediately stop blackmail payments to Iran. The rest may simply be to ensure safe passage. I strongly suspect any past payments to Iran will be allowed to move forward, as there is no means to get Iran to refund. But there will be zero payments going forward. I think Jeff is wrong in saying there is no threat. It is estimated that Iran still has several hundred fast attack boats. The mine threat is real. And the do have some remaining ( up to 25 percent) capacity to fire longer range misses. All of this combines to yet limit how many tankers can safely be moved at a time.

DaveL's avatar

As far as attack boats go, the US has previous experience in picking small boats off, in the interdiction and destruction of the drug runner boats from South America. Doesn't seem like a big problem to me.

Missiles and mines, sure they are there. But the big point is Iran's revenue stream is choked off, forcing them to abstain from sinking tankers in the Straits, I would hope.

David A's avatar

I agree cutting off their oil revenue is devastating. However the straight is very much not the same thing as occasional drug running boats on the ocean. Dealing with many, say 75 boats at once, at the same time numerous missiles are incoming, with so e remaining drones, aimed at tankers, is a different ballgame.

Until you stop focusing on the leftard lunatic narrative, you're unable to see the big picture. Both sides are controlled by tbe same puppetmasters. That should be clear by now, by, if nothing else, which politicians are bought-and-paid-for by A I P A C, pHARMa, and every other lobby, including the tech broligarchy - both sides, equally. While the lt vs rt brainwashing paradigm is ingrained into the NPCs as the problem, it's not; because each side has a role to play in furthering the D S globalist agenda-- which they don't want you focused on. "They" want you focused on which buffoon is currently in office, in the limelight, so that when they're gone, the hatred goes with the vacated "politician"; and the cycle repeats. Discernment and objectivity, now more critical than ever, are still clearly absent. If you objectively look at all the things Trump has ushered in (and the money he's taken from the donor class) -- things like Real ID, the Palantir tech broligarchy, The Epstein class, the economy, the endless propaganda, increasing mRNA platform, corporate lobbying, public private partnerships, increased chemtrails, wars, etc -- these are ALL things a "conservative" would NEVER accept or condone if they came from "the left". Ask yourself why that is... why you're willing to accept it from Trump, esp given that he promised the opposite, but you'd be clutching your pearls with your hair on fire if it came from "the other side"? Trump's not taking down the DS, he IS the DS. They all are. And until people realize that, nothing will change. Frankly, given the point we're at, with the upcoming famine & human osmotic pressure the closure of the Strait will cause, most people are completely clueless about what's in store for them.

It's a shame Jeff didn't find space to cover perhaps the biggest story of the day, yet another massive EU country election steal, in perhaps the best last chance to save the EU. Hungary . The EU, and Soros, did not hide the fact they were going to hold back nothing in talking out the biggest thorn in the globalist's side within their midst. They already blatantly stole the Romanian election, and have banned the most popular party in Germany. Europe is done. Stick a fork in them. I said "and his family. His extended family ". They threatened to blow up Perot's daughter's upcoming wedding. I would fight to the death, but I'll not judge anyone who is not willing to kill his family too. It is the same blackmail they use with politicians and other people they want to control

I hate to “like” that; it’s truly a horrific situation to have your family threatened. I think people would do well to understand where we are in an historical arc…

I like Promethean Action for helping us see that we are more in a War for Independence watershed than anything else - it’s existential. I truly hope Orban’s family is not hurt but when those who have been put in power by the people concede to a globalist system that wants us all dead (not saying that is what he did, I don’t know), they may save their own skins but many more will die from their lack of courage. I personally don’t think Orban caved to protect his family - I’m guessing the cheat outvoted his side.

But it’s like Covid, every time someone in power refused to stand up against the onslaught of life-threatening mandates, it only made things worse in the long run. Elected people need to have more courage.

Also why I’m not in charge of anything besides my home…😅

There are so many shades of grey to this and virtually everything that is going on in this battle between God and satan that all attempts to provide simple answers are going to fail. I don't pretend to know any thing for sure, quite the opposite. The only thing I know for sure is I don't know anything for sure

The old maggot jew Soros has long and powerful reach.

His family being threatened wouldn't have anything to do with the vote, unless he withdrew from the election, which he didn't.

I think Susanna is right. It was either stolen, or Hungarians fell for the propaganda, same as people in every country do.

100 % disagree. He could rightfully contest the vote, making a recount yet another thing the globalists would have to hide, cheat on, and wait on. . They are desperate to renew the money laundering in the Ukraine, and he blocked every attempt. With what Trump is doing with Iran making the EU even more screwed and money starved, every week, every day counts for them. They tried unsuccessfully to rewrite the EU by laws so he could not veto their scams, so getting rid of Orban yesterday has become existential to the survival of the globalist EU fascist state.

Yes. that election stinks... BAD. VERY likely machine driven election FRAUD.

A damned jew elected...

The percentage of Jews in Hungary is approximately 0.5% of the total population, which is around 9.6 million as of 2026. The core Jewish population is estimated to be about 45,000.

Wikipedia jpr.org.uk

Similar to Mexico, another jew elected, where Catholics are 77.7% of population... jews are .03%...

And since the world mostly despises jews and Israel, for VERY good reasons... sort of hard to figure... no? More like IMPOSSIBLE to figure!

What do you think of Poland?

rolandttg's avatar

They are better than most of the EU countries as far as having some common\ sense, but never forget they were the #1 staging ground for everything that was sent to the Ukraine (and probably what was laundered back) and they supplied more mercenaries than any other country.

Elaine Russky's avatar

That's true, and they didn't like being forced to do that. At one point, I believe they said, "No more!"

Maybe leaking a phone call where you pledge your support to a hostile nation isn’t the best look, you think?

Alan Devincentis's avatar

When has Russia, the nation ever been a threat to us post soviet?

Hostile nation? Which one is that, Benn?

I like those two n’s, AD.

Russia.

He pledged to help Putin in any way he could.

The phone call was leaked days before the election intentionally.
