The worst thing about the professional sports men and women completely caving to the mandates was that a lot of them were in a far more favorable position financially than most ordinary people , to take a stand and not suffer starvation and homelessness from it. That makes them even more gutless and despicable..

Yep. It wouldn't have cost them a thing except about a week's delay in playing the tournament if they'd gone on strike. That's about how long it would have been before the tournament organizers and their advertisers caved.

Youth and unbridled athletic talent/ability might have also given them that "invincible" perspective.......................until they were no longer invincible, but jabbed up 'damaged' goods.
