Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. —Philippians 4:4-8
War and Peace:
Too long has my soul had its dwelling
With those who hate peace.
I am for peace, but when I speak,
They are for war.
--Psalm 120:6-7
Facing the Enemy:
“Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; so be shrewd as serpents and innocent as doves. But beware of men, for they will hand you over to the courts and scourge you in their synagogues; and you will even be brought before governors and kings for My sake, as a testimony to them and to the Gentiles. But when they hand you over, do not worry about how or what you are to say; for it will be given you in that hour what you are to say. For it is not you who speak, but it is the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you. —Matthew 10:16-20

Yes. It doesn't mean we shouldn't wisely consider the events and circumstances of our time and wisely evaluate them through the lens of God's unchanging truth. It just means we shouldn't be consumed by it all, but instead focus on all the good. How many psychiatry patients would be helped if they could do this?
What gives me peace is that all this has been foretold in the Bible.
The Lord has warned us repeatedly, when nations reject God, He sends judgment in the form of disasters, disease and war. We lose the blessings God desires to give us. We mock God and sin brings negative consequences. ‘Galatians 6:7 is God’s warning to individuals and to nations that He will not be mocked. We reap what we sow.’
I’ve thought often about Sodom and Gomorrah the last few years. How could things have been worse then than now, but God intervened back then. I can’t believe evil has ever been this bad before.
Great to see another NASB fan. I do prefer the 70’s version. But that’s tied up in my nostalgia. IMHO, NASB translation is the best for not only accuracy (so important), but beauty, a lá the KJV as well.
Thank you for each passage you shared. A great way to start the day. God bless.
I’m also an NASB lover. I started using it extensively in the 80’s and remember reading that it was the most accurate translation, as well as preserving the beauty of phraseology. So many passages are exquisite in NASB, whereas they’re humdrum in others. Currently our church tends to use ESV most often, which isn’t bad, but still not my personal favorite.

God bless you, Jeff!

I really love this one Janice! Thank you!
Today, this part speaks to me in particular:

I fully agree.
Oh how I’ve missed you Janice - so happy to see you back on C&C today! We always need a good dose of scripture to leaven today’s news…everyday’s news!
How refreshing for you to tell me that. I've been too sleepy or had bad timing to catch his posts earlier in the day. :)
Wow, Janice. We are living out these words.
‘I am for peace, but when I speak, They are for war.’
How I wish we weren't living it...but, for such a time as this, we are here until He takes us home. God bless you, Pamela!

The Bible gives us so many lessons and blessings!
Lord have mercy. I always wonder how much the perverse satanists will be able to push the disgusting sexual agenda.
There were some places called Sodom and Gomorrah. They got destroyed and they didn’t even have the internet.
I’ve thought often about Sodom and Gomorrah the last few years. How could things have been worse then than now, but God intervened back then. I can’t believe evil has ever been this bad before.
Yup. I know. And I believe we have surpassed them.
