"Nato expansion" is another buzzword to try and create wiggle room for Russia invading and annexing more territory, land, and people.
If Russia wasn't the equivelant of North korea with lots of gas and state sponsored genocide, Nato wouldn't need to exist. Russia invaded and annexed part of Moldova. Then Georgia. And then Ukraine. The Russian invasions have given Nato a new life because it's old nemesis is back.
Russia was indeed threatening other people. The 3 nations above show that. Their actions show that today.
Ask yourself why they shot down MH17 and never came to account because of it?
Question: Why do people join nato?
Poland: Katyn Forest massacre. 50 years of soviet repression. 2 invasions.
Czech Republic: 1968 Prague invasion
Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia: 100 years of repression and destruction of national identity
I did some search. Putin wasn’t a president during Moldovian-Russian war, he wasn’t doing anything until about 2007. Sorry Benjamin but not everyone wants to be a survivor of a nuclear attack as you seem to encourage us all to do and saying it’s not a big deal. I’m sure Ukrainian people don’t want that either. Can we de-escalate the conflict please?? There were many voices over the years speaking out about nato expansion, including American voices, political scientists and diplomats but they’ve been probably just using buzz words trying to create wiggle room for Russia to invade. They’ve been warning us for years that this would happen and here we are. Kennan, Kissinger, Mearsheimer, Chomsky, Jeffrey Sachs and others. Voices of reason. The covid crisis gave me enough understanding that voices of reason get squashed and being accused of misinformation and propaganda. You seem very set in your ways and don’t see forest for the trees. Nobody was serious about accepting Ukraine to NATO. There are certain conditions that the country needs to meet before being qualified. https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/henry-kissinger-to-settle-the-ukraine-crisis-start-at-the-end/2014/03/05/46dad868-a496-11e3-8466-d34c451760b9_story.html
Correct, Putin is simply continuing past Russian dictators’ actions going back hundreds of years. Moscow has always treated the western Slavs like garbage and commited countless atrocities against them going back a long time.
Why?
It works.
Are you saying Putin, a rabid vaccinator, is so unhinged he would launch nukes?
Won’t work with the USA.
Quoting a raving leftist like Chomsky isn’t helping your case.
We can de-escalate this conflict by returning to the borders Russia recognized when it signed the Budapest memorandum. That’s a great start towards ending the war. Failing that, Russia can return to the 2-24 lines and return the kidnapped children it moved to Russia from Ukraine.
I support SOME aid but how much more aid? There seem to be no end in sight. That’s US taxpayers’ money and not all the citizens are too happy to keep sending so much money when the situation at home is less than great. The more weapons flow and the more money gets poured into it the more the war will drag on and more lives will be lost. Who benefits? Have a good one.
For gutting the Russian military and destroying their ability to wage war it's a bargain.
We just passed an "anti inflation" bill which does none of that for 700 billion. The aid so far has probably been the most effective part of Biden's entire actions so far as president.

America's greatest expert on Russia.
Though 94 at the time and frail of voice, he
was sharp of mind when I asked for his
opinion of NATO expansion.
I am going to share Kennan's whole
answer:
"I think it is the beginning of a new cold
war. I think the Russians will gradually
react quite adversely and it will affect their
policies. I think it is a tragic mistake. There
was no reason for this whatsoever. No one
was threatening anybody else. This
expansion would make the founding
fathers of this country turn over in their graves.”

Off the top of my head.

Let’s de-escalate tnis and end the war.
I think it should draw even more attention that both leftists and Republicans criticized the foreign policy
And most Republicans and democrats support aid to Ukraine, like myself.
America doesn’t need another foreign policy catastrophe that damages our reputation and leaves the world less safe.

I’m sure this doesn’t cloud the judgement.
Congress shouldn't be trading stocks.
Who would have known congress would be colluding with vladimir to increase their stocks at the expense of russian lives!

What we need to do to finish the job.

The unwise foreign policy put Ukraine in harm’s way. We’ve been warned.
Russian foreign policy did.
We don’t blame the victims for being a victim. We blame the aggressor.
