If it’s any consolation, I don’t *think* they will intentionally release a bioweapon with severe mortality rates because it would pose a threat to them personally—unless they flee to their underground bunkers, and they would rather enjoy the spoils of the earth without fear of succumbing to a deadly pathogen.
It’s not necessary for them to resort to such measures when they are able to successfully control the population through psychologically-crafted propaganda and distraction campaigns, so they will continue relying on the mechanisms that have worked so well for them in the past. Once a sufficient number of people wake up to their machinations, however, their magic spells will fail, and it is at that point that we will be able to bring them justice and put an end to this nightmare for good.
