I'm sorry. So many of us have kids, relatives and friends who lined right up with no questions asked. I fear for all of them but also for myself as I am becoming numb to it all. I am sad to realize that I have already disengaged myself psychologically from them. 😢

It was easy. The last two generations were taught by the state school system to never question anything. Critical thinking skills and logic haven't been taught in many decades.

Personal observation (I'm 71): After the anti-war student protests of the 60s, Marxism took over in the universities in a big way and critical thinking went out the window. After that, students were taught to be parrots of the "approved" worldview. "Political correctness" took over. We now see the results. Lately, I've even seen campus interviews with students saying that farming must end because it causes global warming! Students are now literally brain dead. They have no idea they are being exterminated.

They really seem pretty clueless. I wonder if it is because when growing up in the past, parents were the enemy to be outsmarted. Now parents are their best buddies and pour on the compliments. This may cancel out the previous tendency to rebel against authority figures and replace it with complete acquiescence.

No kidding. I agree. I often helped my kids study. If I asked them to think something through or a question that wasn't directly parroted from their study guides they would want to move on. It wasn't necessary to know, just to regurgitate the givens. I tried to get them to think but it was a losing battle. Already as a parent I had lost authority to the education system.

Anyone who now surveys the educational landscape has to conclude that there are only 2 options: home school or find a religious day school that aggressively teaches a classical curriculum. State schools are nothing more than brainwashing camps. All universities are a complete waste of money, time and will intellectually neuter your child. All higher education and careers must be found in the alternative venues.
