Expand full comment

And you won’t have to think. Just find out who is offering the biggest payoff for the legislation they’ve already written.

You don’t need pants for that.

When you are voting for a Congressional Rep or a U.S. Senator you are not voting for a person who will write laws. Your rep only votes on legislation to approve or disapprove of constructs that are written by outside groups and sold to them through lobbyists who work for those outside groups.

Recently on C&C there were women ranting about how they would never where panty hose again. It seems that casual Friday has turned into casual everyday. There was a time when dress codes evoked respectfullness for the occasion, be it school, church or work. When one was "dressed up" their behavior was relective of how they were dressed. Carrying oneself with confidence, assurance and conviction calls forth trust and respect from others. How is this seen as a bad thing? By the way, I hate panty hose too, but still wear them when the ocassion deems it appropriate.

I also don’t like dress codes in principle because they have been used to enforce upper class domination of certain jobs and places. They are often very arbitrary. But I also feel like we’ve gone too far in the direction of casualness and tolerance. I always dress professionally for work and even at conferences because I do think presentation is important and I feel more put together when I am wearing a jacket and skirt rather than a cardigan and dress pants. There are different levels of being well dressed of course, but people have gotten so slovenly. It’s now almost a point of pride—rather than being cause for shame as in the past. Then, even the poorest people tried to make themselves as well dressed and presentable as possible and had at least one nice outfit for church and special occasions.

Expand full comment

I’m not so opposed to dress codes. They often serve a good purpose, as in the practice of most private schools having uniforms. What’s so weird is that decades ago I remember really energetic and functional OLD members of both chambers in Congress. I do not recall ever seeing ANY impaired members. I know there is far more publicly available visibility now through all of the information channels available to us (just recalled how the media covered for Kennedy and FDR), so likely that is a factor. But still, age never seemed to play a role in an official’s ability to perform their duties.

As for age limits, I say ā€œpshawā€. Because I am a member of a 55+ cooperative very active community, I see the wide variation in how people are doing whether they are 103 (yes!) or 55. One of our members just completed a hike up one of the Yosemite landmarks (I think Half Dome) for his 90th birthday, he’s as sharp as a tack.

To all those that say ā€œPDJT SHOULDā€, (or ā€œshouldn’tā€) the responce is simple.

Start with $5 million from your Dad, and build an empire of over 1000 businesses, then with -0- political experience run for the highest office in the land, running AGAINST the RNC, the DNC, the I.C., the MSM, etc. and WIN.

Then, have the most productive Term in office of any POTUS, EVER despite constant undermining by the aforementioned powerful forces.

I could go on, but the punchline is THEN you can weigh in on what you think ā€œPDJT SHOULD (or SHOULDN’T) do, with some degree of credibility.

Similar to the attack on TX AG Ken Paxton, did you see they're trying to silence anti-big-Pharma Russell Brand?

They're using the 'sexual assualts from long ago' playbook, just like Clearance Thomas, Trump, and Kavanaugh. They went to the media and not the police, right?

...Because if you go to the police you have to file a criminal complaint and then an affidavit. If you are lying you can go to prison.

As for "victims" and accusations, Robert Barnes had choice words on the Viva Barnes video clip shared elsewhere in this thread, addressing the societal norms that I (VERY) regrettably had a hand in upholding during my younger years.

I still think shaming and naming, beginning with hot memes, is the way to start burning these evil people. Imagine being born the child of the scumbag that is Robert L. Peters. That child never knew a day of love in his life. Not from his father. I have no clue about his mother, but look who she was married to. Who knows how he was traumatized. We've heard Peters showered with his tween or teen daughter. Ugh. Trauma.

This is a wounded child in an adult body. He never grew up. He's still crying out for help, but will also refuse it at every turn.

That said, a grown man who doesn't take responsibility for his actions or learn from his life experience gets hit from a lot of angles by real life. The reckoning.

I can understand why the guy has problems. Arrested development. Doesn't excuse his behavior. Just provides me some insight. Sad. But no, as an adult you can't behave like a child and rail against the consequences. Doesn't work that way. I doubt he'll ever grow up, or get sober, even inside a prison cell. Oh well. Time for some reckoning.

The Biden family is completely dysfunctional and crooked. They must believe this is how the privileged get to do things.

Joe was always an enabler dad.

Beau was the hero, Hunter an also-ran.

Joe never said no to his sons. especially Hunter. Joe’s daughter has been sexually abused.

Hunter is rebellious, and knows that no matter what Pops will always get him out of jams. Including now.

Joe always ā€œprovidedā€ for his sibs and kids with shady dealings. So that he didn’t get caught, he had the money go to family accounts and charged them back half. All documented.

Joe gets his own funds other ways. Multiple homes are a popular money laundering scheme.

It is family knowledge that Pops is a pedo, expressed by Hunter to his family.

Joe had an affair with Jill before Joe’s wife died then married Jill.

Hunter had an affair with Beau’s wife.

I don’t see a sad child. I see an entitled narcissist, above the law.

The thing that is sad is Joe is the patriarch of all of this family misery and criminal activity. The kids were born into it and believe that is how to live. Joe even assists and enables Hunter becoming the next gen ā€œprovider.ā€

ā€œReceiptsā€ on Dan Bongino.

Oh, yes. The behavior is generational. Learned. Even if in response to emotional, psychological or physical abuse/trauma. No one is absolved. I just armchair see the second generation origins. I don't know pedo Joe's origins. He's an oily scumbag. Another psychopath. I learned recently that psychopaths are born that way; sociopaths are formed by environment. Both are toxic and destructive so it doesn't make much difference in the play. I have a feeling the second generation were formed by their experience. No slack cut for any of them. Never said that. Only see how sad it is for the second gen. It's done. No turnarounds likely. Ha! Nope, it's time -past time! for the reckoning.

With regard to the Gretchen Whitmer FBI led & DOJ enforced kidnapping scam charges that the defendants were just acquitted of, I grew up in Michigan and spent 12 years worth of weekends and summers driving up north to Antrim County (Mancelona specifically) where that trial was held. IMHO, Antrim County residents are salt of the earth folks, who work hard and play hard. In other words, they represent 'Merica! :) In November 2020, a "glitch" in the election tabulation software first gave Antrim County to Bob Peters, but was later "fixed" and the voters' votes were correctly given back to President Trump. Watching Mlive political coverage of my former home state during election night and days later, I never believed for a moment that Antrim County went blue, but boy did the powers that be want it to be that way. In the end, Antrim County went 61.1% Trump, 37.4% Biden. That this trial was held in Antrim County and that a jury of these Defendants' peers found *unanimously* that they were not guilty, warms my heart to no end. If one believes the percentages from the 2020 election, the good people of Antrim County certainty seem to see through the smoke, mirrors, and B.S. quite clearly, perhaps thanks in no small part to the "glitch" and issues that clouded their voting preference results three years ago and because of how Whitmer, Peters, etc., have continued to run their state and our country. Bravo Antrim County citizens!!

I am still in Michigan and the only reason there was even a semblance of election scrutiny in this state was because an Antrim county clerk noticed the error and made it public. Then the forces that be did a sham investigation and even the Republicans in the state legislature said, ā€œNothing to see here, except a mistakeā€, and the county clerk was ā€œforced/coerced/paid offā€, to say she made a mistake and sweep the whole issue under the rug. Biden did not win the state of Michigan and we all knew it, but could question nothing. Blame it on the captured media and our corrupt governing bodies. Some day the truth will win out.

Won’t it be a great day when the shots aren’t recommended to anyone? Period. Full stop. It would be so nice to call the pharmacy for a script refill and not have to listen to the BS recording of the available shots. Wouldn’t it be a miracle if the horrible vax shot could take down the annual ineffective flu shot and all the harmful childhood vaccines along with it? Maybe that’s one positive we can see in this, that many have had their eyes opened to the dangers of all vaxes.

I was glad to see Paxton acquitted, but I think the main moment for the impeachment was the day or two before when Paxton called on Speaker Phalen to resign because his behavior was atrocious. Add in that he was also working on some things going against the transitioning/abuse of minors in addition to the C19 shots and there are all sorts of reasons the impeachment was fast-tracked.

Sadly, that also exposed a ton of RINOs in the TX house. Far too many jumped on board. There's also some hints that the impeachment was retaliation of a sort for beating a Bush in the primary. Texas voters sent a clear message that they didn't want another Bush in a position of power.

I'm glad to see Florida's guidance now pushing _actual_ risks and I'd consider forwarding to some of my family who would line up for the next booster for "safety" but as others have noted - some people are just all-in on mRNA shots and refuse to see the problems or evidence that they might not be helpful. :(

I dislike the moniker RINO because it was put out there by the very Uniparty Republicans who have been selling us out for years. It implies that their term just sprang up organically overnight when Trump was elected. There was/is a Swamp in our Nations Capitol and we just realized how oozy it was in 2020. The Democrats are a solid front, they never deviate, but the split is in the GOP. I won’t let any group decide who I should trust.

Expand full comment
Fla Mom's avatar

Inside the Republican Party of Florida, I can tell you that MAGA people use the term, to the extreme irritation of the Cafeteria Republicans who don't actually support the party platform. (There's a swamp in Tallahassee, too.). I think there's more split in the Democrat Party than they let on, too. They have excellent party discipline in Congress and probably in state legislatures, but their electorate is beginning to tire of, e.g., trans and alphabet porn. RFK, Jr., has the highest favorable and lowest unfavorable ratings of any of the current candidates, and I don't think it's from unfamiliarity with him, any more than for some of the other candidates. Biden has the opposite. I think the more open division and power struggle between the Cafeteria and the MAGA Republicans is a good thing. The Cafeterias need to realize that their domination is just about over.

We have to change our perspective. The "Parties" became none-existent a long time ago. There is only one, the Uniparty. The Dem/Rep game is only to keep us plebs fooled into thinking we actually have a choice. They fear Trump because he is financially/politically independent of the Uniparty. The last time we had an independent President was JFK and he was killed by the CIA for it.

"...keep us plebs fooled..."

This is the crux of the matter. Until people wake up to the political theater, that the real perpetraitors [sic] behind the show, the puppetmasters, are hidden, the bickering among ourselves and worthless voting (at least federal if not state and possibly local) will continue.

Who said something like, If voting made any difference they would make it illegal -? It wasn't Mark Twain or a satirist, despite the truth in terseness. An industrialist? A politician? I don't remember. It's the truth though.

"There is only one, the Uniparty."

Biden this, Trump that; DeSantis this, Newsom that. It makes no difference. Yes, even Trump. Upend me into a trash can.

When in the course of human events... it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government...

IMO we're there. At least, we need to clean house and start over on that count.

Absent the foolproof screening tool for integrity, new personnel might not be as successful an endeavor as I'd like to think. Could buy us some time, though. I'm thinkin some level of overhaul indeed will take place. I'm no psychic, I don't know how it will unfold. Just, with as major an upheaval as is in motion with all the truths coming out, the existing personnel in Washington (at least) cannot stay, particularly once (affirming ✊) the top of the cabal's pyramid are exposed. EVERYthing will change. In 10-15 years we'll barely recognize the place.
