While I get your sentiments, I also think that if people who worked there had to constantly be thinking about the horrible things that happened at the camp and could never be lighthearted about anything, it would be too much of a psychological burden and no one could work there for more than a few days or weeks. It is already depressing and horrifying enough to be in that place but having the horrors be on your mind constantly would be unbearable after time 😞😢

I mentioned the anecdote not because I didn't understand their perspective, rather as an illustration of the contrast, as well as to what you allude...the mind can only handle so much trauma and dwelling on it would be unhealthy.
