Why can’t the Times call our President “Mr President” or “President Trump” ? This insistence to refer to him only as Mr Trump is rather juvenile and sets a really bad example for our country. The Times is trash. There are better quality high school newspaper clubs.

Recall in March Congress voted to keep all sexual allegations private by referring the bill to make it public back to the “ ethics committee.” The protection racket in Congress is horrific. How many others??

Oh, and why should an admitted sexual offender keep their pension? Strip it!!

REALLY though, that is their subtle way of saying he is NOT really a president.

I believe it IS just that simple. . .

Juju's avatar

He’s certainly more president than their Biden was! If they want to get technical with legitimacy, they’ll lose that dogfight in seconds.

Exactly. Biden was an infirm geriatric hiding in the basement. Nuff said.

The 25th amendment requires the Cabinet to take action. I really can't see Biden's cabinet members doing anything honorable.

Nowadays alt media commentators are calling for DJT to be removed by 25th Amendment.

It’s all mind games! Unfortunately we see it works on those TDS leaning negative Nancy’s.

PonyBoy's avatar

Right you are Susan, from the very moment Hillary Clinton lost to President Trump in 2016, she set her attack dogs of the liberal media to daily denouncing anything, and everything that President Trump did or said.

This, we have had to endure for 10 years.

The TDS is now a "stage four" disease amongst the most devoted democrats.

The hatred they feel must make them unbearable to be around.

Susan L.'s avatar

Indeed. My daughter is a fairly devoted Dem… and her last visit home was close to unbearable when any political topic came up! (But I love her dearly…she just has a confused mind in these matters)

Susan L. I have that same exact problem with two of my three adult daughters. It is sad that they swallow without question all the crap that is spewed out by legacy MSM, ranting Dem politicians, and bloviating far Left podcasters.

And I too dearly love my daughters; I now stay silent in order to avoid tension and alienation between us. I feel the world has lept into the depths of insanity, even among family members. So sad. 😞

Yes, it is who they have listened to. I, too, stay silent and share your sadness that the way we raised her did not take more hold. But, keep praying that the twain may meet one day!

She actually didn't know about his education or military experience. Of course the press was mostly concerned that he had a lack of deep institutional experience. Shot themselves in the foot with their authoritarian antics.

PonyBoy's avatar

Once it became crystal clear months ago that the democrat party was only supporting illegal aliens in sanctuary cities because they were complicit in enrolling these illegal aliens to vote for the Democrat party in our elections, a major portion of this country's voting electorate said to themselves, "Oh, hell no, there is no f'g way that I as a natural born citizen will allow any illegal alien to determine the course our elections."

Like President Trump has said, the Democrats cannot win an election without cheating.

Encouraging illegal aliens to vote is CHEATING.

CPK (Charles Kalina)'s avatar

NYT style book, to be fair it's not specific to President Trump.

They've even referred to the rock star Meat Loaf as "Mr. Loaf".

Juju's avatar

Show me where they regularly referred to all past presidents this way during their precedency and after …

CPK (Charles Kalina)'s avatar

Google "New York Times" and "Mr. Biden" (or Mr. Obama or whatever) and it will give you plenty of examples. The articles themselves are mostly paywalled but the search will show you the links and excerpts in which the term is used.

https://www.google.com/search?q=%22new+york+times%22+%22mr.+biden%22

They may use "President" for the first reference in an article, or when it's ambiguous (e.g. distinguishing Joe Biden from Hunter). But in general they will use "Mr.". I get that this sounds like something the Times would do as a petty gesture of disrespect for President Trump specifically, but in this case it's just their house style.

(Also, apparently the "Mr. Loaf" thing is apocryphal, but I hate to stop using it...)

Juju's avatar

I did that, and all my results showed a plethora of “President” before Obama and Biden names. They even used Vice President for Biden. Actually the “Mr.” was few and far between. I saw it only twice. They have a severe imbalance when compared to Trump.

Tonee norman's avatar

Poor goats, God made them too. The Bible is very hard on many animals calling them unclean yet God made them so how could anything God made ever be unclean? Heavy sigh.

Peter's vision, Acts 10:9-16

9 ...Peter went up on the roof to pray. 10 He became hungry and wanted something to eat, and while the meal was being prepared, he fell into a trance. 11 He saw heaven opened and something like a large sheet being let down to earth by its four corners. 12 It contained all kinds of four-footed animals, as well as reptiles and birds. 13 Then a voice told him, “Get up, Peter. Kill and eat.”

14 “Surely not, Lord!” Peter replied. “I have never eaten anything impure or unclean.”

15 The voice spoke to him a second time, “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.”

Indeed, there is nothing God made that is unclean! Thanks for the verses!

Thank you for the link but I don't see it that way. Does not matter if ceremonial or morally unclean. Nothing God has made except for us is unclean and that was our fault. God is perfection and all He made was perfect, even us for a short time.

Roger Beal's avatar

Acts 10:9-16 (also recounted in Acts 11:4-10) re "clean" and "unclean" animals:

In this vision, the apostle Peter fell into a trance while praying on a rooftop in Joppa and saw "an object like a great sheet" descending with "all kinds of four-footed animals and crawling creatures of the earth and birds of the air." A voice commanded him, "Get up, Peter, kill and eat!" Peter initially refused because he had never eaten anything "unholy and unclean," but the voice replied, "What God has cleansed, no longer consider unholy." This event occurred three times before the sheet was taken back up to heaven. (source: Brave AI search engine)

Roger Beal's avatar

Precisely ... that's the Reformed view.

Politico Phil's avatar

Seriously, I suggest you go review what the Apostle Paul had to say about "pruning and grafting." The Talmudic Jews of today are of the same apostate belief as the Jews who were condemned by Jesus prior to His death. They were the ones who were "pruned" and burned in the fire of 70AD so that the Gentiles of faith could be grafted in. This then is the true Israel of God, all those whose faith is in Jesus Christ.

Lisa Runquist's avatar

Utter BS. I’ll bet you’ve never seen or talked to a ‘Talmudic Jew’ i your entire life. You go on the internet, hear or read something that supports your opinion, and then start spewing. Trying researching instead of just repeating someone else’s opinion.

Beth M's avatar

I get tired of the absolute certainty that individuals know the thoughts of God.

Lori's avatar

Yes, an old ex-friend told me this years ago. She had family in Israel and just bringing up Christ's name enraged them. I asked many times why Jews do not believe He is the Messiah and she would get livid and literally her eyes turned black and she would refuse to engage. Needless to say, that friendship expired a long time ago now.

daverkb's avatar

Lori,

This may interest you.

I have long known that the Latin on the cross did not say 'King of the Jews'. It said 'King of the Judeans', after the province of Judea. From Roman habit, this would make sense. The word 'Jew' entered into the English language in the Middle Ages. This I also knew but decided to check it with Chat GPT. And this is what Chat said:

Question: When did the word Jew first appear in the English language.

Chat GPT:

The English word “Jew” dates back to the early Middle Ages, appearing in English around the 12th century.

It comes from:

• Old French “giu” / “juieu”

• which came from Latin “Iudaeus”

• which in turn derives from Greek “Ioudaios”

• ultimately from Hebrew “Yehudi” (יְהוּדִי), meaning “a member of the tribe or kingdom of Judah”

Earliest appearances in English

The word shows up in Middle English texts from the 1100s–1200s, often spelled in various ways such as:

• Iu, Iuu, Iew, Gyw

One of the earliest recorded uses is in texts like:

• Ormulum (c. 1175), where early forms of the word appear.

Important context

• Before this period, England used Old English, and references to Jewish people were usually derived directly from Latin or biblical contexts rather than a standardized English word.

• After the Norman Conquest, French heavily influenced English vocabulary, which is why the French-derived form entered the language.

Bottom line

The word “Jew” in recognizable English form begins appearing around the late 1100s, evolving from earlier continental European and classical forms tied to the Hebrew “Yehudi.”

(Knowing the largest part by far of the people calling themselves 'Jews' are of Turkmen origins and non-semitic kind of changes the score of the ball game. Knowing that the people who are Zionist are worldly and secular, and outside any practice of God is even more damaging. And knowing that Christians are harshly persecuted by would be 'Jews' in Israel and around the world is the crown on th capital.

Lori's avatar

Hey Dave, good to receive a comment from you as it has been awhile! Very interesting the etymology and I appreciate you taking the time to break it down in the way you did.

Inisfad's avatar

Your old friend didn’t know what they were talking about. Jews may believe that the Messiah is still coming, but saying Christ’s name does not enrage anyone.

Lori's avatar

She is Jewish and does know. I have seen this first hand with other Jews and in Temple which I attended several times and asked a Rabbi about it as well. Many don't want to know, hear or acknowledge Christ's name. And if they are so stupid that they are still waiting for the Messiah, no one can help them. Next. So take your ignorance and kindly shove it up your anus. Cheers!

But the Bible does state that Israel and Jerusalem will become a major stumbling block to the whole world, so God knows what's going on and He is carefully noting who promotes what.

On my phone, via the app, if I select the three dots next to my own post I get an edit option. But they didn’t always have that. It was in one of their updates last fall. Make sure you update the app.

Although the recent update this month is AWFUL with how it organizes a Substack’s posts, and it used to jump to wherever I left off if I backed out of an article before finishing it. Now it pops me back to the top. 🙄 Why do they insist on fixing what wasn’t broken and breaking it?

Roger Beal's avatar

Job security. It ain't broke ... they fix it ... now it IS broke ... they re-fix it. Each operation earns a paycheck.

According to the Bible, we Christians err in our imagining of what Jesus will look like when we see Him. Rarely do we see an image that is accurate to the text. Remember, even Mary did not recognize Him till He said her name. In Revelation John describes a figure that overwhelms him and makes him fall at the feet of Jesus "as dead." Jesus had to comfort John and tell him to "Fear not; I am the first and the last: I am he that lives, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive forevermore: Amen; and have the keys of She’ol and of death. "

Lori's avatar

If the Shroud of Turin was his death shroud, we know what he looked like. No matter what, He is beautiful.

Reasonable Horses's avatar

Yes! Our Beautiful Savior! Ezekiel and Saul of Tarsus had the same experience. Consistently He says, "Don't be afraid. Stand up. I have a mission for you."

Christ in His full glory is unimaginable. Reminds me of a new book I ordered yesterday, “18 Days in Heaven: I Left My Body. I Met Jesus” by Gabe Poirot. Heard him talk about it on Allen Jackson’s podcast, “Culture & Christianity.”

My recently re-converted daughter introduced me to NDE narratives. They're among the most spiritually moving literature I’ve ever read. Of course, sceptics will scoff. “However, as it is written, ‘What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived,’ the things God has prepared for those who love Him. These are the things God has revealed to us by His Spirit.” 1 Corinthians 2:9-10

For some reason I find myself thinking about the Civil War. Winfield Scott's cutting off of foreign support via blockades, which was dubbed by hostile news papers: "project Anaconda". Also U.S. Grant. His successful use of sieges, creative ways around, bull dog tenacity, attacking where least expected, deleting of strategic supply chain hubs and orchestration of the entire northern army to attack at multiple points at once. It may be that we do not know the plan but we can recognize the pattern of a plan when we see it.

Susan Daniels's avatar

I never heard that he had said that. I contacted Trey Gowdy in 2012 and even sent him a copy of my lawsuit, with receipts showing that Obama was using a stolen number. I contacted another dozen Congressmen at the same time and never heard a word from any of them.

The whole Trump meme incident was blown out of proportion. As usual, the media and those with TDS jumped on it as negative and blasphemous, when it had other purposes, one of which was to counter the hatred of the Cardinals who badmouthed Trump on 60 Minutes for closing the border and stopping their human trafficking through Catholic Charities. Trump's post made sure that the conversation was started.

And it looks like the Strait of Malacca is also on the agenda. It's between Indonesia and Malaysia and is the chokepoint for 80% of oil to China.

Don Reed's avatar

“UK Will Not Join U.S. Blockade of Strait of Hormuz, [UK Prime Minister] Starmer Says” (NYT 04/13/26).

04/14/26: How could the British Navy possibly join ANY blockade?! The ONE ship available in their now-midget sized “Navy” recently left port, broke down, and slunk back into port for “repairs.”

Remember when, a few years ago, the UK was guffawing that Russia’s ONE aircraft carrier on its way to the Mediterranean had to have a baby-sitting tender and tugboat trailing behind it because the A/C was a floating maintenance disaster?

Imagine Starmer as a U.S. President. Biden would have been an improvement.

Melissa S's avatar

Starmer always make me think of the Pillsbury Doughboy. Its like he has no bones or muscles in his face. No spine either, unless he is supporting Muslims and attacking the free speech rights of citizens.

Demeisen's avatar

I usually refrain from criticizing people's appearances, but Starmer is so tepid and despicable in not protecting his own people that I must share:

Every time I see him I am reminded of an anthropology course I took long ago, where the Prof. had lived and done fieldwork in Zambia. He was trying to describe some African sexual beliefs (they are many and variable, from what I recall) and the one he mentioned was a belief that men who were not thin had a "buildup of sexual fluids" and were to generally be disdained or at least not taken seriously. He recounted the difficulties of a "ruddy stocky rugby-player type of Englishman" in the locale, who constantly was viewed through this lens and a bit puzzled by it.

I have almost never seen a picture of Starmer without these anecdotes coming to mind...

Melissa S's avatar

I had a super busy day yesterday and did not even read C&C or get on socials till late last night. Interestingly, the news I heard while flipping stations in my car all day never brought it up, although I may have missed it. But total sh*t storm on FB especially by some of his more staunch supporters. sigh. Still better than Kamala. Although definitely in poor taste.

Willing Spirit's avatar

Nothing President Trump does, no can of worms opened, is wasted in the big picture. What is in poor taste is what the sodomites in the Vatican are doing to the beautiful Catholic faith.

Donna in MO's avatar

True. Long suffering Catholic; say I am more of an adherent to the Catholic FAITH more than to the Catholic CHURCH. Interestingly, though, our church was meeting in temporary quarters due to a mold issue and was completely renovated to a very traditional interior with pews, kneelers, etc. Seeing lots of young families, since the re-open, some with women wearing the old school veils and dresses (vs the more casually dressed, me included) and some with 5 or more kids in tow. Does give me a little bit of hope for the future.

SHug's avatar

I read a piece the other day about how Eastern Orthodox Catholics are growing. They do not follow a pope, instead they have a council, and "first among equals". They also allow priests to marry, just not bishops.

The Charismatic movement is also growing. That is a 20th-century Christian renewal movement focusing on "baptism in the Holy Spirit" and the active use of spiritual gifts (charismata)—such as tongues, prophecy, and healing—within mainstream Protestant and Catholic denominations.

Donna in MO's avatar

Honestly, I think we just need Jesus in our lives, and in our culture, and however one finds Him is OK. I stay out of the denomination wars. Been married to a Methodist for 36 years, we go to both every Sunday. (we're stubborn, lol). The pastor of my hubby's church is married to a Catholic. I do take exception to the 'I don't need a church' mantra as I do think being part of a faith community holds us accountable, especially in a culture that tends to draw us more into 'the world' and its values. I've been course corrected on many an occasion. None are perfect, but there is no church not run by humans, so some level of grace and discernment is required.

Willing Spirit's avatar

I pray your cause for hope grows and grows! Catholics want to bring their children up in the Faith. And it is a rich and powerful Faith.

Part of the protest against the Catholic Church was because they teach that the bread and wine mystically become real human blood and flesh, cannibalism which God stricly FORBIDS! The Communion "meal" is the cake and ice cream we share to celebrate together with the family of God.

I thought I read that Gonzales wants to retire, not resign. There's a big difference: If he retires, he gets a pension and health insurance for life. Let's hope it's a forced resignation and he has to fend for himself. You know- like we mere mortals have to.

As far as Democrats and Republicans duking it out civilly: I had lunch a couple of weeks ago with a dear, dear friend who happens to suffer from TDS. She is a retired speech therapist so we were talking about language processing. I mentioned Senator John Fetterman and explained how he relies on his laptop to process questions asked of him and how he is able to respond without aid.

My Democrat friend had no idea who he was. None. She said she doesn't watch the news so she had no clue. Which brings me to my point: How can you have a civil discussion about politics when you are engaged with someone so uninformed she doesn't even know who a prominent senator FROM HER OWN PARTY is? Well, prominent to the Republicans because- face it- he's secretly one of us.

CeeMcG's avatar

When it was investigated, it was determined to be fraudulent and the earmark was removed. How many times does this have to happen before she’s removed, disciplined, suspended or something?

Good Morning. It's windy in Kansas....🤣😂🤣 I know, it's a given...

Not to bad in Missouri. Maybe it’s headed our way.

I lived in KC for 7 years and still have relatives there (husbands side) - Missouri is a lovely state!

Good day to you!

It was a beautiful place to grow up. Hills and trees and so many rocks we had to pick up, especially when we were in trouble. 😃

Morning! It’s sunny and heating up in VA 😅🌞

Idk how bad it is out in central/ western ks but here by the mighty MO river it’s been brutal the last week or more and one of the worst windy nights I’ve experienced in a long while.

shayne's avatar

Probably, Dr Linda... I'm less than an hour from KC.

Wisconsinite transplanted to MO. I love the down to earth people (similar to WI) but can’t stand the humidity! We live in a conservative area south of KC.

I am a Californian to Madison to Missouri transplant. I’ve been here almost 40 years.

Yes, the humidity can be tough. I served in the Army, stationed in Alabama for three years. That was super tough.

I saw the storms that hit in NE Kansas last evening. They stayed north of me as they went east. But today I'm in the area of expected severe weather later. I'll tune into Ryan Hall, he's the best.

VelvetStitching's avatar

What is with the weather?! Storms in mid USA plains swirling like someone put it in a blender!

Here east coast side we have "glazed" (hazy) skies every day - yuk! No rain though - our creeks and rivers are quite low before the summer heat begins. And we have "fire hazard" warnings every day. Sure wish the sky sprayers would STOP! 😕

Sue Thompson's avatar

Don't forget Hunga Tonga . . . which Jeff reported on nearly 3 years ago. NASA noted it would affect the weather for a decade.

Yeah, there are more days here now when the sky starts out blue but by evening it's murky, milky and makes me furious.

I suspect is it a combo of cloud seeding, chemtrails and stratospheric aerosol injection.

That big storm yesterday just missed us. It scuttled Osage County, looked like it was heading to Lawrence. The lightning was awesome.

VelvetStitching's avatar

Love your state - have family out that way! Have a lovely (wind blown) day!

Not here in Minnesnowta.

I burned brush for four hours, had 30 ft high flames. . . no forest fires yet.

LMWC's avatar

And here in mid and northern Michigan, wave upon wave of thunderstorms for the last 3 weeks with heavy rains. The northern lower is getting especially hard hit. Another huge round of thunderstorms went through last night. Unbelievable lightning, and heavy rainfall, but not the thunder normally associated with so much lightning. Heavy March snowstorms up there are now rapidly melting and with all the torrential rains, several large damns up there are in danger of being breached. If the damns are wiped out, several huge lake’s water levels would plummet and it would be catastrophic for the summer lake home owners and tourist industry. Haven’t seen anything like this in my 70+ years. My suspicions are highly raised.

shayne's avatar

That's scary 😂

I think Pope Leo’s and Trump’s squabble is just a bigger problem with the Catholic Church in general. I grew up Catholic and I can’t help but see the Pope’s latest statements regarding God not answering the prayers of those who go to war as heretical. It’s in direct contradiction of the Bible and historical Catholic teachings. It does give credence to Sedevacantists and their beliefs that all the Pope’s since the Second Vatican Council have been heretical. I haven’t worked all the way back through each Pope yet but the heresy is clear with Francis and Leo. That would mean the Catholic Church has been missing a spiritual leader for decades, before I was born. It’s a bigger problem than Catholics recognize.

Jacquijacq's avatar

Yes...

1 Samuel 18:7 (NKJV) 7 So the women sang as they danced, and said:

“Saul has slain his thousands,

And David his ten thousands.”

... and David was 'a man after God's own heart '

SD Scott's avatar

David said that he hated the enemies of God with a perfect hatred.

Leo's avatar

SD, So...no wonder then that teaching Love and Peace, toward everyone, had to be eliminated.

Leo's avatar

SD - "eliminated" as in crucified.

SD Scott's avatar

Did you read his actual words?

Love and Peace toward everyone?

He said many offensive things.

Do you think that Jesus had a frailer sense of justice than David?

Peace through the blood of his cross. The cross is an offense to all men: it means that we all stand condemned.

For judgment he came into the world.

He said that he did not judge those who rejected his words - Because the word he had spoken would be their judge.

Skeptical Actuary's avatar

The pope made a pronouncement that God doesn't listen to the prayers of those who wage war, referencing Isaiah 1:15. "So when you spread out your hands in prayer, I will hide My eyes from you; Yes, even though you multiply prayers, I will not listen. Your hands are covered with blood."

I'm not Catholic, but being protestant, I looked up the verse the pope referenced. The "curse" was to the people of Judah - the Southern Kingdom. Israel, the northern kingdom had recently been destroyed by the Assyrians.

Isaiah is railing against the people of Judah for all sorts of things, including moon festivals and animal sacrifices.

This passage really doesn't seem related to "those who wage war".

Joe Karlovich's avatar

Correct. It’s a misapplication of a verse to get the result you want but it contradicts rest of scripture and Catholic tradition. In the Catholic faith there are three different legs of truth. The Scripture, Tradition and the Magisterium.

The last two Vatican councils made the Pope the deciding figure in the faith. The first one with infallibility, and the second by giving the “infallible” pope the ability to redefine the faith. It’s interesting because that is where the arguments arise. Not in the infallibility of the Pope, but that the now infallible Pope can contradict God’s Scripture and Tradition. It’s a real mess. It does make it clear there are at least two points here, with either Vatican I or Vatican II that heresy has begun.

Either the Pope is not infallible or he is infallible but the current Pope’s are heretics. Depending on which point you choose to delineate which is true can lead to being Catholic. What’s weirder is that the current Pope’s heresy in regards to ecumenism makes any ways of the faith ok. Contradictions upon Contradictions at this point.

Lori's avatar

The OT was all about war. Pope needs to go back and read it.

Joe Karlovich's avatar

There is enough war and prayer to God during those wars that he answered though to disprove Pope Leo’s claim. That’s the crux of the problem.

Reasonable Horses's avatar

That's the plain truth. Any "church father" who says God doesn't answer the prayers of warriors is either a liar (a son of Satan) or has never read anything about Joshua, Gideon, David . . . The Israelite campaigns to secure the Promised Land by killing Canaanites, Philistines, Horites (the list goes on) was predicated on warriors consulting God before going to war or God specifically commanding them to go to war. God is not in the least squeamish about destroying His enemies. Some people are in for a rude awakening on Judgment Day.

E.g., God's marching orders for King Saul. "Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy all that belongs to them. Do not spare them. Put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys.” 1 Samuel 15 tells us what happened to King Saul for only kinda sorta following that battle plan.

Foreign spy status (when investigated, prosecuted and proven) is treasonous. Perhaps even some jail time involved. But that wasn’t considered 6-ish years ago when the girlfriend Fang Fang was in the picture. It’s only now, with more stories (unverified, uninvestigated) that are convenient and sordid enough, that he is booted out of a campaign and a job. The public has a short memory, so he’ll be back this way.

Gingrich, Vitter, and Sanford (all Republicans) — extramarital affairs, pause on political career, then a comeback. When the affair is framed as personal failure, politicians have a chance to resurrect their careers. When it has a twinge of corruption, that resurrection becomes trickier to manage.

Lori's avatar

It is both a personal and professional failure. Don't care how it is "framed". All must be booted permanently and if there is corruption involved, jail works. Dems are the most depraved. Read the Epstein files.
