It's not a new subway line, it's a new temperature controlled, weather protected homeless shelter.

JW's avatar

After living there for decades, and having been through the 1989 earthquake I'm pretty sure I would not be willing to go 12 stories under SF for anything. Crazy is as crazy does. Subway insanity.

Bingham22's avatar

I was seven years old in 1989. I vividly remember the earthquake as we were at the very epicenter of it on Summit Rd in the Santa Cruz Mountains. My school was Loma Prieta Elementary school and it was completely destroyed by the earthquake. I was outside when it hit and watched as 200 foot tall redwoods that were 4-6 ft at the base, snapped in half like twigs. It was terrifying.

I would not go underground in CA for any reason.

JW's avatar

I was in Los Gatos and watched the jogging trail along the creek move like a serpent. It was so eerie not knowing how much damage was happening. The images of the fallen freeway and crumbling bridge never kesve you. I never got use to stopping under an underpass or going through tunnels again. Just crazy to put anything underground in CA, including parking. Then again, living in the South now and getting use to tornado threats is a challenge also but, at least there are warnings.

mimi's avatar

I don't blame you.

I was 32 and spent the earthquake under the kitchen table in San Francisco. I cannot imagine being that close to the epicenter at age 7.

TrustPeace's avatar

I was on the 26th floor of the One CA building. Swaying in the breeze. Absolutely crawled under my desk. Has left me fearful of being trapped in elevators ever since. But I suppose I’d trek 12 floors under for a nuclear ☒️ attack 😬 for some reason that seems top of mind...😳

JW's avatar

I'm with you. Elevators no - but nuclear would a reason to go under.

Frontera Lupita's avatar

I went to college in Santa Cruz in the early 70’s...hung out up on Summit Rd , back in the day, doing a lot of fun mind expanding plants and herbs! πŸ˜‰

JW's avatar

When I visited last, Boulder Creek where I lived, was in a time warp and everything there was exactly as it was in the 80's when I left.

mimi's avatar

Considering all it does it go from the Powell Street station to Chinatown, nobody is taking it. Even the people who live in Chinatown are still mostly taking the 32 Stockton bus.

We live in the Outer Sunset in SF and haven't taken it yet. We'll see if the end of the winter storms helps anything. At least I've seen one or two tourists around lately.

I see it also goes to the Moscone convention center, but we haven't had a lot of conventions lately. One or two.

Evidently they had to dig under the BART and Metro lines but according to this guy, it was deeper than it had to be. He would love it if there were no cars here at all, though, so consider the source:

https://sf.streetsblog.org/2022/11/21/central-subway-opens-a-few-reflections/

JW's avatar

It was scary enough when BART was stuck in the bay tube for a multitude if reasons. I can't imagine being 12 stories down and have that happen. Nope.

Chevrus's avatar

Yeah those BART underwater delays are always sobering....especially with no restrooms!!

JW's avatar

Claustrophobiac's nightmare.

Chevrus's avatar

Ok that answers my question....

That really IS redonkulous! I'd have thought that making something a little better like oh say...the 38 Geary Bus?!

Love me some fog belt...I'll you could have bought a little sunset bungalow for cheap back in the 80's

mimi's avatar

We didn't have the money in the '80s which is why we don't own a house.

Ripple's avatar

It goes to 4th and Brannan in the SoMa district, a few blocks from what is now called Oracle Park.

mimi's avatar

I wonder if people will take it to the ballpark or just walk from the Embarcadero Station which is what they've usually done before.

The walk around the waterfront is much nicer. Longer though.

Datagal's avatar

They could name it the Epicenter Line!

Jean James's avatar

With that many escalators down seems more like a fallout shelter!

FourWinds's avatar

Complete with drugs, used needles, and human poop. What nut decided building a subway in an area known for earthquakes was a good idea? I would be terrified to be on one if a quake hit.

Chevrus's avatar

Ok wow...as a former resident I kinda follow SF and the BayArea just for laughs.

Now about this new train line? I had not heard of it....

Does it do to NorthBeach or down Geary?

Budweiser putting that tran cross-dresser Dylan Mulvaney dude on their can is really a good reason to stop drinking.

It's also a good reason to start drinking (but not Budweiser).

Neil Kellen's avatar

I have a strong suspicion that a few heads will roll, and an advertising firm will lose their huge contract, in a month or two.

YYR's avatar

It wasn't advertised, and wasn't released. Just one can made for the man in womanface has done all this damage to their brand. They can eat it. Besides, what man drinks that swill? Yuck.

MakalekaAnne's avatar

They still offended an awful lot of their supporters! I’ll never drink any Budweiser product again!

JuQu's avatar

Oh you sweet summer child.

TrustPeace's avatar

Look up their new fab under 40 CEO. She was a marketing exec. So I doubt heads will roll. It was all part of their zippy woke plan. And I also saw somewhere that it’s the beer of choice for college parties. 🀒

FourWinds's avatar

I think Budweiser will lose their shirt putting a tranny on a can. Clearly they have no idea who drinks their product. *** Rolls eyes ***

Jean James's avatar

I think they know exactly who drinks their product...this is how they continuously try to humiliate us! Bud-weiser just got a whole lot dummer. Time for Man Beer...”straight” out of the can!

With great Irony, that tranny is now complaining how "her" life is not going as "she" thought, nobody dates "her", and "her" influence is waning.

I fully expect either a full meltdown or suicide of this mentally-disturbed snowflake sooner than later. These "people's" mental health demons are a sad train-wreck to watch.

jacquelyn sauriol's avatar

Tattoos are fairly permanent, but even they can be removed to some degree. Sadly, once someone....whacks parts off, and has to take drugs forever to maintain it, well, perhaps it's a bigger commitment. I could never do that to my body. I guess I am lucky they let girls wear pants ANYTIME we want, and you don't even need a sex change to wear pants, or comfortable shoes. Now, THAT was some liberation if you ask me!

Neil Kellen's avatar

Just another version of "everyone loves you when you are new and different, but once the thrill wears off (which is pretty quickly) you are kicked to the curb". It is sad.

FourWinds's avatar

Just like Bruce Jenner. Remember he was the big thing when he "transitioned"? Then he wore off, and when he made a statement that he did not think this kind of thing was appropriate for children to do... wham! He's gone!

Portland sucks, but the Pfriem beer made around here is my favorite. Also the local Portland Potato Vodka is even cleaner than Monopolova, and the same price. Budweiser is suprisingly clueless about who has been faithful to their products over these last years, I didn't know they got all wokey. Ah, they can have it, its piss beer anyway.

They (among other chocolate producers) use slave labor in their cocoa production. I'd like to see them go away - especially around Easter since they have played an active role in paganizing it.

Credenda's avatar

Yeah, that was really a weird thing to include in his obit. Even if it’s just a coincidence, I mean, Budweiser?

I don't know, but I can recommend a farmer that ships country wide - Seven Sons Farms in Indiana. I have not specifically asked them about mrna-whatever, but I do know they are about as natural and no-nonsense as you can get. Yes, it's pricy. Yes, it's worth it!

FourWinds's avatar

OK, I received a response from Seven Sons Farms in Indiana. Although I've met some of them when they used to deliver in person, I have no ties to them. I would absolutely trust their products. They used to show me pictures of the chickens roaming the yard on their phones.

They said they and their partners do the bare minimum with vaccines and have no intentions of using mRNA vaccinations. They do not give their animals hormones, antibiotics or steroids. He said they sometimes give the cattle and sheep a tetanus vaccine when they are young, depending on conditions and that the chickens receive some vaccines at the hatchery, but no additional are given at the farm. Other than that, they do not give the animals anything. Bison and pork do not receive any. They said the always make sure that any vaccine is out of the animal’s system for a set amount of time (varies per animal species) before harvest.

Epic Times did a video how China has taken over Brazil. China now owns a lot of Brazil's industries, business, land, and have so many China people living there now, and is changing so fast that Brazil is losing it's culture.

We NOW need to make it against the law for schools, colleges, any business, to take money from China and also own no land in US. Also members of Congress cannot be members of China party too or have history of being a member or be connected in any way to them.

Every needs to stop buying Chinese products too! Impeach Biden for taking bribes from China! If I were in charge the woke would be sent to China so they can live the lifestyle they think is so great- Communism.

The plandemic was their cash cow! Slurping up the money through their extra large paper straws that were only handed out to the climate change cult and disinformation aficionados.

NOW….it’s the plandemic fault the Oregon riot capital of the country can’t keep their businesses open. πŸ™„ uh-huh. Ya. We believe you.

FedUpInOR's avatar

We went to a Portland suburb recently. Stopped at a fast food place to get a drink and the bathrooms were locked. You had to get a code from an employee to use the bathroom. My sister (not from Oregon) was appalled by this, but I explained that it’s likely due to the homeless and keeping their employees from having to evict the homeless from their bathrooms.

Chevrus's avatar

They are commonly used as "shooting galleries" and it is not a rare problem.

YYR's avatar

Holy cow! It pisses me off just having to get an employee with a key to let me buy everyday items in urban areas. How do normal people put up with this BS?

FedUpInOR's avatar

To be honest though, Bend is nowhere near Portland. The other two cities are suburbs, however.

Sunnydaze's avatar

Ya. I know where the locations are. Doesn’t really matter at this point does it? They are blaming their scamdemic to avoid taking responsibility for what they’ve done to themselves. Even though Bend didn’t do what Portland and surrounding areas did….Oregon is in the shitter as a whole. Portland has ruined Oregon in general. Besides, is Bend really that far behind? All I hear from family and friends living there is how liberal Bend is becoming/has become. It’s not the conservative area it once was. Thanks to all the Commifornians that move there and vote for the same crap that ruined Commifornia.

FedUpInOR's avatar

Oh I don’t disagree, but it’s hard for me to feel bad for anyone who went all in for β€˜15 days to flatten the curve’ or forced their employees to mask or vaccinate. Not sure if Cracker Barrel did but am confident on Walmart and Nike

Sunnydaze's avatar

I don’t shed a tear for the same reasons. I only feel bad for the employees that needed those jobs who are victims of the scam. And yet, they are responsible for themselves as well-coulda quit and went elsewhere. Neither place pays so much money the job wasn’t replaceable. Simplistic thought process though.

SadieJay's avatar

I took a trip to my mom's last June, ID to CA, mostly through OR. I stopped at McDonalds in Burns and a sign on the soda machine said they were out of ice due to a "shortage". Maybe they meant "drought"? And the workers seemed to be the misfits of society, the tattooed and pierced. So, where did the regular people go?

CaplT's avatar

They could not have quit. There were NO jobs. Everyone was shut down.

Karen Bandy's avatar

Bend is a mess right now, and yet people keep voting in liberals. You should see our city council. Growth is unchecked and homeless problems are growing.

I think a lot of things contributed to Cracker Barrel closing, but one can blame a lot of it on the plandemic. Kate closed down restaurants for a long long time. Stupid mask requirements lasted in restaurants a long time and if restaurants didn’t comply they were fined by OSHA. Many just didn’t recover, and now no body wants to work. The workforce has shrunk, and a lot of people who live here are wealthy Californians like Sunnydaze says. If they work, they work remotely, or are retired. Younger people who have kids have it tough, child care is super expensive and I think many moms who could be working are choosing to stay home rather than work, either to homeschool or take care of their kids. Just a theory.

But back to Cracker Barrel, the plandemic, high food costs, high labor costs and lack of workers has hit them hard here in Bend. But I also suspect that the elite libs wouldn’t be caught dead in a Cracker Barrel, I wouldn’t either by the way πŸ˜†. Way too much grease and breading. God forbid they or their kids would ever work there.

Just my thoughts, its tough to live here right now, way too many libs. I’m glad I live out on acreage, and don’t have to interact every day with people in town. Semi-retirement is great!

Raptor's avatar

They had to flee from Portland. I live where Californians and Coloradans flee to when they could not take their own problems anymore. Then try to change it here to be CA or CO. They write love letters (really) to Mitt Romney.

Sunnydaze's avatar

It’s clown world. Opposite Days. Twilight Zone. The list goes on.

Karen Bandy's avatar

And they swoon over Fauchi.

Sunnydaze's avatar

Yes. That’s what I know of Bend too from being a 40 yr Oregonian. Thank you for that great explanation!

So the plandemic run by Furor Brownstain has produced collateral damage even years later which I’m sure she is celebrating. It’s really their shit policies and their fully embracing tyranny of a scam that ruined even chain stores. I wouldn’t be surprised if the stores shutting down continue until Oregon is a ghost state. It is so incredibly sad.

SadieJay's avatar

Anyone notice that almost EVERY small town these days, between here and there, has now opened a Dollar General or a Dollar Tree???

Sunnydaze's avatar

Yes! They are EVERYWHERE! Out in the middle of nowhere sometimes. We’ve been baffled by that. Why is there brick and mortar Dollar stores on the middle of nowhere and the nearest house is miles away? They have something in store coming down the pike. Beware.

Karen Bandy's avatar

It is weird, and rarely a Dollar Store where everything was a buck. Not anymore. A front for something?

Karen Bandy's avatar

And Komrade Kate (Tina) Kotec πŸ˜‰ is following in the Furor’s footprints. She’s probably crying right now because she lifted the mask mandates in medical offices, effective today!!! She knew she had to, thinking β€˜People are going to die, I just know it, but lets hope it only causes the deplorables to die’

S.P.H.'s avatar

I enjoyed Cracker Barrel the few times I dined there (Tualatin), as a rule they had mature wait staff, were attentive and courteous. Yes, Portland proper has sullied the reputation of the entire state, and rightfully so. Trump attempted to quell the riots by sending federal help to protect the courthouse but the local and state politicians screamed so loud he washed his hands of the mess.

Truly, the problem rests at the state capitol in Salem, a bunch of far left idealists currently being shepherded by Kate Brown on steroids Governor "Tent City" Tina Kotek. The state has become very business un-friendly and a homeless magnet. And freeway tolls are a few months away. Wake up folks, this is what 20 years of mail in voting will get you.

Alleytown's avatar

I am hopeful that it will.

Datagal's avatar

Has anyone noticed that Substack comments have become more nasty and confrontational lately? Not here on C&C, but I noticed it on Dr. Pierre Korys latest stack and also Naomi Wolf’s. I felt like I was back on Twitter!

I’m hearing the Budweiser Clydesdales are having a hard time getting into there harnesses because they don’t wanna pull a wagon with Mulvaneys’ face on it.

The horses are smarter than the jacka**es that came up with the idea to glorify this tranny.

I believe it's a contest between Portland and San Francisco to see what city can be destroyed faster. Since the criminals in Portland are losing some of their targets, like Nike, you have to wonder who or what they will go after next when everything of value is gone. (That's rhetorical - try private residences.) You know a place is bad when Walmart refuses to do business there. I think if I lived in Portland I would move before my property had absolutely no value and/or I had to travel well outside the city to buy food because all the stores pulled out. No offense, I'm sure it was once a nice place.

Los Angeles passed a real estate "mansion tax" effective 4/1/23. Home sellers will have to pay 4% of the selling price between $5M-$10M and even more for over $10M. While these sale amounts sound high, you can't buy a shack there for less than $1M. The city wants the money to build homes for the homeless. Now...do you think they addressed their massive and financially crippling building regulations? Doubt it. My question is, who will they have left to gouge once most of the wealthy leave?

And you know that the β€œspecial and important people” will have some sort of loophole provided πŸ™„

LuAnne's avatar

I'm hearing rumblings about the unintended consequences resulting from this passed tax bill alreadt. Talk of lawsuits. Apparently, there was no language, or not enough language, in the bill regarding landlords or clarification of real estate ownership. The tax was passed by the voters so I guess they get what they voted for.

Raptor's avatar

Sounds like they are trying to keep the wealth from leaving the state.

FourWinds's avatar

Wow, must be nice to be that rich... unless you have a tax like that! Holy crow. And I think the answer to your question is what's left of the middle class, and then no one. If I was the gambling type, I'd put up some money on which city will be the first to completely implode. Right now I think it will be Portland, but we'll see.

Don’t forget Freeattle aka Seattle! It’s right up there with Portlandia and SFO

Karen Bandy's avatar

Yep, the whole west coast is a mess.

It was a great place to grow up. We grew up in the burbs, but could safely go into downtown Portland to do something special, like go to a nice clothing store or see a play. We saw Sound of Music in a downtown theater ... oh boy am I dating myself 🀣 And don’t forget, its only 1.5 hours to the gorgeous coast, there’s a lot going for Portland. Or there was....

Jeff, please address the RESTRICT act!! Sounds like an absolute nightmare.

Tick Tock is being used as a Trojan Horse to take away our First Amendment. The interview last week with Jesse Waters and Lindsey Graham was an eye opener.

EVERY American should be alarmed and contacting our leaders .

The RESTRICT Act will destroy free speech. I read it...it's long, never mentions Tictoc, and excempts itself from any FOIA attempt. Canada just passed C-11 which also destroys free speech.

Fed up's avatar

I don’t think C-11 has been passed yet.

AJF's avatar

Ok, thanks for the correctionπŸ˜‰

LMWC's avatar

What was Lindsey Graham’s take? I trust him no further than I could throw him.

STH's avatar

He pretended to not know much about it, though his name was listed as supporting it. πŸ™„

AJF's avatar

Seems like he didn't read it. Probably most haven't. I remember Pelosi saying something like, You have to pass a bill to find out what's in it....what in God's name does that mean??

Dean's avatar

Tyranny most likely.

Jesse Waters: This is Garbage, 3-4 days ago.

Graham claims ignorance - a joke here is too easy - and says he was unaware of the vague, potentially dangerous language.

Gotta love the Calvin-ball comment. What a great comic!

Dr Linda's avatar

I’m pulling mine out today for a few laughs.

RunningLogic's avatar

Oh yeah I loved that reference too!! 😁

Susan Catherine's avatar

That one went over my head. What does it mean?

Josh's avatar

From the comics Calvin and Hobbes. It was a game Calvin made up and he changed the rules to benefit him all the time

Robert Simpson's avatar

My six year-old grandson does that all the time in his games with me! It is fun with him, but not fun with Brandon et al.

Paul Ashley's avatar

And the rules changed in the middle of the game on just about every play!

devoalan's avatar

It was perfect! And subtle in a way.

Chevrus's avatar

Aaaah now that makes sense!

Kristin H's avatar

Calvin and Hobbes comic strip. Little boy plays with stuffed tiger-seeming-real and changes the ball game rules to always be winning 😁

The death of this FL judge is very unsettling!

Our beloved Jeff πŸŒΊβ€οΈπŸ™

please make sure to get yourself well protected, as you also can be a very important target for the cabal. Your work is so valuable and game-changing nationally! Never forget for a minute how important you are for our movement and how much, undoubtedly, they are hating you.

I don’t mean to sound dramatic, but we are at war.

.

Jean James's avatar

I may be living under a NY rock, but I’m not too familiar with this judge. Did he take the vax? It was required for anyone in the court system in NY.

Rosalind McGill's avatar

The guy was probably vaccinated. But we are at war , pray for the truth tellers.

Paul Ashley's avatar

"... Senate 23-17, requires unions to: .. stop automatically deducting union dues ..."

Now let's have a bill to stop automatic income tax deductions!

Jean V's avatar

That would be a game changer for sure!
