So the idea of trashing inner cities so oligarchs can buy them out for pennies on the dollar.... I’m thinking that most people, once they haven’t lived in an urban setting for a while, will probably be not that eager to go back. Rural or even suburban life is so much nicer with, you know, yards and stuff.

Yep. These days I can stay about 3 days in a city. Too much concrete, pollution. Hardly any vegetation. Have to get back to the countryside!

In Commiefornia, Gruesome Newsom has been pushing more city-like building in our 'burbs. My once conservative small-town is rapidly becoming just like Los Angeles. ADU (or granny flats or guest houses) are popping up in every backyard. No more yards to enjoy, just cram the people in. Need to make more housing for all the illegals that Gruesome is welcoming with open arms. And free healthcare....

No matter what ‘nice’ urban area i’ve visited around the world they all are plagued with some degree or another of what i call ‘big city problems”. It’s a package deal.

These days yes.

I grew up in NY; not always.

And the boroughs allow a taste of suburbia with a taste of the urban.
