UPDATE

I probably should have said it in the post.

The cat (and her kittens) were fine. Getting mauled caused me to back off and rethink my strategy, which I should have done to start with. I then used a garden hose to break up the fight. Momma kitty was not completely fine, but fully recovered. Kittens untouched.

Jeff got stitches and some quality learing about thinking first, then acting.

Thank you 🙏🏻 for doing your Paul Harvey duty and telling the rest of the story. That was a cliff hanger I would be waking up wondering the outcome for months in future. And the garden hose strategy was brilliant! 😉

I was raised on Paul Harvey, good day.

BTW, anyone hear about the 61-year-old housekeeping supervisor from Cottage Grove, Wisconsin, was shot and killed in a downtown Madison parking ramp last week after being targeted by a former coworker for supporting President Donald Trump.

yes this is really disturbing. esp when Mockingbird media keeps telling us WHITE MEN are the most dangerous perps - and then MISCATEGORIZING LATINO AND BLACK MEN AS WHITE.

Grrrrr. People need to know. who is dangerous is DEMOCRATS of all colors, pronouns and sexual persuasions.

DRK's avatar

Leftists / Marxists / socialist /communist - these are essentially the same thing. They are not really Democrats, nor do they support actual democracy- as the tragic killing in Madison, Wisc. attests.

Ideology aside, we are generations into the masses being raised on inadequate nutrition for optimal human brain development & function. The government has warned us all against consuming the most nutritionally complete and digestible foods:

meats, eggs, and natural milk & foods made from milk.

Starches, sugars, and oils - from which manufactured food-like substances are profitably produced from government subsidized, mostly GMO/gene edited crops - all damage the brain.

Dr. Paul Mason - 'Reversing Dementia With Diet'

Essentially all "mental" health issues improve on a ketogenic diet. Which makes sense, since brain health is "mental" health.

Dr .Georgia Ede, MD - a pioneer in the field of nutritional psychiatry, provides extensive information on the real science about food, health, and the brain.

https://www.diagnosisdiet.com/

Add to this injections of neurotoxins from birth, or before... other sources of heavy metals... thousands of man-made chemical contaminants in our air, food, water - and nearly every consumer product... infants bon with over 200 synthetic chemicals detectable in their cordblood...

...and 'social engineering' through entertainment and government-run schools...

Ugh! Is it normal practice now to use they/their instead of he/she… or is it just a Madison thing? (Madison=Red Square West)

I see it all the time. Maddening. And I always think of kids learning to read (NOT learing). These things matter. And they affect a lot of people, given the number of readers of news. When I clicked on the above link and read the piece, I found a question at the end: "Was this helpful?" I clicked on "NO" and was asked, "Why not?" A creative and constructive response!

However, "The first recorded use of singular they dates back to 1375..."

"While the use may seem like a recent development within the English language, the history of singular they is anything but new. In fact, singular they has been a feature of English grammar for centuries.

Using they as a gender-neutral singular pronoun is (and was) common, especially when the gender(/sex) of the person is unknown or irrelevant..."

https://linguisticsgirl.com/a-short-history-of-singular-they-from-medieval-times-to-modern-english/

Our children are being subjected to things far more confusing than the singular use of the word 'they' which English-speaking children have been dealing with for over 700 years.

Education is the key to reducing confusion.

Another example is the word 'man'. Depending on context, the words 'man' and 'men' refer not only to adult male humans, but to all people. They come from the Latin 'manus' for 'hand'- not another body part.

Therefore, all women ARE also men; but no man is a woman. Just as all drakes are ducks, but not all ducks are drakes. The word 'woman' refers to a specific, a special ind of 'man', aka 'mankind'.

man -an individual human

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/man

There are several examples in English where the word for one particular sex of a species is also the word for the species as a whole.

We've all heard that 'What's good for the goose is good for the gander', as the gander is also a goose. :-) All bitches are dogs, but not all dogs are bitches, as any serious dog breeder or exhibitor knows. 'Horse' refers to any adult intact male - or to a horse of any of the three adult sexes - mare, gelding, or stallion, an alternate word for 'horse'.

The word 'human' is related to 'humus', or soil.

Isn't language fascinating?

__________________________________________________________

Exposure to phyto-estrogens, especially from wheat or soy, or synthetic chemical endocrine disruptors or estrogen mimics or social factors could affect a male's subjective experience or 'self-identification', but that's another topic.

Alice in Wonderland's avatar

Yes, of course. Like all of us ~ I assume ~ I have been using the singular they all my life in spoken and written reference to any person whose sex is unknown or irrelevant, as have the cited users of English throughout centuries past. Completely unlike those circumstances, however, is publication of a report whose purpose is the dissemination of established facts concerning a local homicide in which the sex of both victim and suspect are neither unknown nor are they irrelevant.

I'm just thrilled to have learned about Jeff Childers in the midst of the DEMONratic activity in late 2021. It has provided me with valuable info that I NEVER would have found on legacy media sources AND given me HOPE and JOY exchanging comments and information with fellow believers in Yeshua--the only begotten Son of YAHWEH!!! God breathed and the creation of what we know as "this world" began!! Think about that!!

Margot Wooster's avatar

Sharon, one of my favorite verses in the Bible, in the NLT (New Living Translation) is Psalm 33:6

"The Lord merely spoke,

and the heavens were created.

He breathed the word,

and all the stars were born."

John of Oregon Fame's avatar

Amen, Sharon! Well said. By the way, I continue to pray for your grandson, Christian.

Sharon Beautiful Evening's avatar

Oh, John--this remark about my beloved grandSON, Christian, encourages me SO MUCH. I pray for him constantly - and am working on a birthday collage which I plan to frame in a 8" x 10" frame and send to him for his 22nd birthday. He is the "middle child" for my youngest son--and has always been a sweet person - I had NO IDEA he was being attacked by the "great deceiver" through the "gamers" that he has 'known' since he was about 7 or 8 years old (most of them are from Sweden - Christian adored the "Minecraft" video game and that was created by a Swedish game 'wizard' - you know, Sweden is the most "liberal" thinking country when it comes to sexual idealogue--I have always considered Sweden (based on their movies and books) to be very DEPRESSED people--but they think they are "happy". Irony at its worst--isn't it, John!!

Again...thank you for praying for Christian - he surely needs to turn AWAY from gaming and TOWARD Yeshua - the ONLY route to TRUE JOY is through His nail-scarred hands - reach for Him and leaving the 'old mindset and will' behind. Crucify self and find TRUE JOY AND LIFE ETERNAL!

I might add--if you haven't seen the post of mine from 2 weeks ago - the new movie "A Great Awakening" produced, directed and starring local actors from the Lancaster, PA area....and production of "Sight & Sound Productions" division of the "Sight & Sound Theatre". It is truly ENCOURAGING about the special friendship between PASTOR GEORGE WHITEFIELD and BEN FRANKLIN. Please check out your local movie theaters to see if its playing in your area - it will be playing AROUND THE COUNTRY THROUGHOUT THIS WEEK! I saw a "special screening" of it yesterday in Lancaster---here's the offiicial trailer. SHARE IT with your friends and family, por favor!

I tried a similar type heroic intervention when I was 12 but it was between my dog and a similar sized canine. Outcome? I can still see the bite scar on the back of my hand at 69 while the fight raged on despite my efforts. Six years ago today, my 53 year old brother was killed by the lockdowns. It was egregious medical neglect, and because of “keeping everyone safe”, no one was allowed to come in and help him or advocate for him. He died alone in awful circumstances. I will never forget what they did to my family 😡😡😡

And to those who are inclined to complain that this post isn’t relevant to Jeff’s roundup for today—go fly a kite, I don’t give a flying fig what you think. It will ALWAYS be relevant to post about the harm those monsters did using Covid as an excuse!!

I no longer work in clinical hands on/hospitals- but as a registered nurse when I saw that they left people ALONE with no family and TO DIE ALONE??? I got sick to my stomach. Makes me angry to think about what KIND OF SICK PEOPLE are living among us. Very sorry for your loss. Keep reminding everyone all the time. 👍

RunningLogic's avatar

Thank you ❤️ And I appreciate your compassion as a nurse—I find it unconscionable, how many people in healthcare seemed to be perfectly ok with this!!

Porge's avatar

Sorry for your loss RL, they tried to kill me too. I'll never forgive or forget. May we please get some accountability.

Michelle's avatar

Tried to kill me too. 35 days on a ventilator, 2 months total in hospital. 2 days of Remdesivir, after which I refused more, and thankfully they listened. Made husband sign DNR before they would do tracheostomy. I was 49 at the time. Miracle by the grace of God that I survived. Praise God that you are still with us as well!

Porge's avatar

OMG! wow, God is watching over us Michelle. For me it was 1 day in a butcher shop hospital until I escaped via ambulance to a hospital where my wife works. Then 12 days in that hospital with a collapsed lung because my doctor refused to treat my " covid pneumonia " I got the old" go home til you can't breathe " advice. At least my wife and her colleagues were able to keep a eye out for me. But I have permanent lung damage. But hey! I'm still kicking at71!🤗

Michelle's avatar

I have permanent lung damage as well as a result of treatment—fibrosis resulting in reduced lung capacity. Did your damage result in reduced lung capacity too? Do you need to use O2? I’m do glad you were transferred to a hospital where your wife could be watching. That probably made a big difference in your care! Once I was out of quarantine (19 days), my husband visited daily. I think that, and that two friends had sent balloons/flowers, and a local friend also visited, made a difference in my care. They knew people were watching.

RunningLogic's avatar

So glad you managed to escape! What a horrific experience! May you continue kicking for many more years! 🙏

RL, your hair would curl if you realized what is going on in Canada in terms of compassion-less "medicine" Both as unlimited abortion (to the moment of birth) since 1988, and as state-assisted suicide known as MAID. Both are eugenics programs.

MAID has reached over 100,000 victims now since 2016. In a population of under 40 million.

YourGalapagosGullfriend's avatar

Whenever someone insists that "real communism hasn't been tried", point them to what Canada is doing with MAiD and the C9 bill. They've already extended advocating MAiD for "mental illnesses"; if they finish passing C9, what's to stop them from declaring those who violate that act as mentally ill, just like they did to dissidents in communist countries?

MariaABC's avatar

As it stands now you have to be 18 years or older for MAiD but they, meaning the Gov't, are in active discussion to include "mature minors" in their eugenics program. And even more shocking to me, is that there are citizens who think that this is a great idea. But then these are the same people who believe that children can decide what gender they want to be and are entitled to hormone blockers, ect., to realize this fantasy. And should they choose, the mutilation of their bodies. God have mercy on this nation. With regards to Bill C-9, it's interesting that it refers to "Scripture" only. Does that mean that quoting from the Quran is acceptable? I have my own ideas on this, as it appears that all Christ followers are considered enemy's of the Gov't now. But it did my heart good to see some MP's in the House of Parliament vote against this evil bill with their Bibles in their hands.

A.'s avatar

I am with you, Maria. God have mercy on this nation. We are going where man should not tread.

Yes, I lost a dear friend because she was "unvaxxed". They immediately put her on a ventilator, hooked her up to Remdesivir and left her to die. A friend's Mom left this world the same way for the same reason. We will not forget.

Same. My 1st cousin, my age, went to ER with omicron variant and low oxygen. They checked him right in. No immediate family could visit as they were unvaxed. Hospital had him on Remdisiver and ventilator within 48 hours. In the course of a week he went from healthy to dead.

As did I, Sue, when my mother broke her arm during the COVID debacle and she wasn’t vaccinated. I was there with her checking in to the ER, and saw the looks on the faces of the staff. Very unprofessional healthcare workers for sure. Then they wouldn’t let any family members back with the patient to advocate for them. That was a horrible policy. Extremely difficult for me not to create a scene. Instead I called frequently to get status updates.

Suzy Cue's avatar

I’m so sorry and angry this happened, not only to you, but untold thousands of people. It’s so far beyond inexcusable and evil, that I run out of words for expressing my disgust and anger. My daughter is a surgical RN. She had most of her hours cut during the C19 scam, as many surgeries were cancelled (putting her into debt - and, no, the hospital didn’t use any of their ‘extra Covid $’ intended for underemployed nurses; instead it went to executive staff). She was offered to work some hours ‘on the floor’ in the hospital, but she refused. She told me she wanted nothing to do with that, based upon stuff the other RNs were telling her about the ‘shit show’ in the ‘Covid wards’. My brother was murdered via being convinced to get the two shots. At least my sister and I were able to grant his one wish, of being able to die at home.

RunningLogic's avatar

Thank you Suzy and I am so sorry for your family’s losses too 😞 It makes my blood boil to know the executives were all pocketing the extra Covid funds, there are so many people who were complicit with this evil and want us all to forget! Proud of your daughter for seeing through it all and keeping to her principles. You raised her well ❤️

Suzy Cue's avatar

Thank you. My daughter managed to avoid the evil shots via a religious exemption, though the bullshit she’s gone through has been horrendous. Re: being treated differently due to no shots (no eating with others in the break room, you leper!). Other crap like that. The agony of formulating the exemption form (4 pages long, detailing every aspect of one’s religious beliefs etc.), then waiting weeks to see if it was approved or denied. Her supervisor was denied his religious exemption (he was more devout than my daughter). He was very healthy, age 40, wife and two toddler sons. After they denied his exemption, he had the first dose. To keep his job as breadwinner. Then, they CHANGED THEIR MIND and approved his exemption (oops!) before he got the second dose. In other words, their lawyers figured out they might get into hot water, so they started approving the religious exemptions. He confided in my daughter that he felt something was seriously wrong with his brain, once he got that first and only shot. Lots of doctor Appts, tests; they said nothing is wrong. Then he was tucking his boys into bed one night, turned to his wife and said, ‘I think I’m having a major stroke’. Which he did, basically his brain exploded. Laid in a nursing home for over a year, only able to twitch one finger. Finally his wife agreed to let him go. Never again, folks! We all must push back completely and together next time they try this evilness!

RunningLogic's avatar

Oh Suzy, that brought me to tears, I’m so very sorry, how absolutely heartbreaking and just wrong all that is!! I think pretty-red old guy’s suggestion of compiling a book of all of these experiences is a great idea. Seeing what I am sure amounts to millions of people went through because of the protocols and mandates would be so powerful!

Debra's avatar

Oh Suzy what a terrible nightmare for your family! I was recently diagnosed with (Covid caused) AFib. I was healthy for 70 years, took no shots, but did catch the virus. Now heart problems. I tell every single doctor I talk to that this is related to Covid and they say nothing. They know now.

pretty-red, old guy's avatar

Sorry, I can't "like" that story because of the tragic circumstances but, wondering. . . What do you think about adding this into the other stories in a compendium describing the shit show of covid and hospital protocol. This DOES fit since it IS about the harms of a protocol in a hospital simply not one that caused a direct death by ill treatment of Covid itself.

Anyway, if so, feel free to message me with this story, just paste it into your message please.

I am VERY sorry to hear it, Suzy.

What you saw was Psychopathy in action. The Globalist Network counts on psychopathic senior leaders to carry out this type of conscience-less agenda.

Most people think of Psychopathy in the Hollywood version of Hannibal Lecter. However, the condition very seldom manifests that way, actually. It is more like the Henry Kissingers of the world.

MOMinator's avatar

May I offer a slightly different version of your very accurate comment?

What you saw was Satan in action. Satan counts on psychopathic senior leaders to carry out this type of conscience-less agenda.

Most people think of Satan in the Hollywood version of Hannibal Lecter. However, the condition very seldom manifests that way, actually. It is more like the Henry Kissingers of the world.

A.'s avatar
Mar 30Edited

MOMinator, I try to steer clear of the "Satan" terminology because the religious cultists here scream at normal decent people daily that they are all supposedly Satan. They have worn-out that term by misapplying it so often. And trying to deflect from their own bad behaviour.

I am well aware that Psychopathy is a portal for evil into this world. I can even explain to you how the seeds of this condition are planted by adults into innocent children by messing-up the Attachment bond that supplies conscience and the ability for empathy. It is a very convoluted situation, therefore, and hard to apportion blame. I do expect responsibility from these damaged adults, however.

BelleTower's avatar

Except our enemy, the SPONSOR and aggravator of the harm perpetrated against us was literally Satan. Each nurse and doctor who shrugged the shoulders and walked away from the crying children trying to be with their dying parents … EVERY SINGLE ONE … was a little soldier working diligently for literal Satan. I imagine there were a few who refused to play along, I would like to hear their stories, because from where I sit it seems the entire industry politely looked the other way. I have no trust anymore. When I take myself or my children to the doctor (always when I unable to treat us myself), I know each time could end us on ruin. Medical kidnappings and arrogant applications of unwanted interventions … these possibilities haunt me. We do our best to STAY AWAY. Heck in Canada, your old dad who goes in for an antibiotic could be prescribed literal “assisted suicide” (which means MURDER the best I can figure it) and be dead in days. Yes we avoid the best we can.

A.'s avatar

I just don't use the continual "Satan" terminology, because it has been worn out on this C&C and normal people here now just roll their eyes at another cultist screaming that they are supposedly Satan. As they do here every day. For dramatic effect and attention to themselves.

Sue Rosenthal's avatar

Same!! Unbelievably eye opening... to the extent that they can never come back from that, as far as My view of it goes.

YourGalapagosGullfriend's avatar

I agree with your take, but I wanted to offer something to add to your something you added. 😁 I watch a brilliant lady on YouTube; her channel is called Craft2Christ, and she is a former witch who is sharing her faith journey and giving us a lot of insight on how witchcraft works so we can combat it. She said something very interesting in a recent video that I've been chewing on:

"Temptation is from the enemy, but giving into it is free will".

Some people are born twisted, but for the most part, the enemy can't act without free will and people accepting the temptation he presents (namely, power).

A.'s avatar

Thank you, though I look at evil more as a severe Attachment Disorder in innocent children which can grow into a severe Cluster-B Disorder as an adult. These disordered persons then seek vulnerable targets to play-off.

The trick is to develop a healthy sense of SELF and refuse to be a submissive victim. So you are not the prey to their predator.

That is hard to hear for most people. But hey....I did not design the system of human life. I just tell you how I think it works.

Same. I moved to outpatient and accelerated my plan to retire. I am ashamed of what my profession did to people. Only 99 shifts to go.

What do you think about putting together a compendium of stories like your own? My thought was to be a gathering point for these stories so others, not aware in their ignorance of reality, can see real-life stories of how families and individuals suffered during this time. Without Re-telling it in your own words people won't believe it. I may cap it at 100 stories. . . So, what do you think?

I will also place this question to those who have responded to you indicating THEY also have stories.

RunningLogic's avatar

I think it is an excellent idea! A separate section or book about people whose family and friends suffered from jab issues would also be a good idea I think.

My sister left nursing because of everything she experienced during this period. All the free homemade masks and pizza people sent to the hospital couldn't make up for seeing patients suffer and die alone. She uses the term "moral injury" to describe what you all went through.

Dawn Ceylong's avatar

Perfect description- moral injury

RunningLogic's avatar

I appreciate your sister ❤️

kara's avatar

Aw, thank you--I will let her know.

Your story is going to make steam come out of her ears. We need to remind ourselves of what happened so we never forget. I am so sorry for what you went through.

In her section, the nurses were obedient for a while and then realized it was...not a pandemic, So they started to get creative, even literally sneaking loved ones up the back stairs (to say goodbye!! which previously happened on Facetime of all things). Then a manager figured out if they enrolled a patient in hospice, the patient could have in-room visitors (one at a time!!). So they did that, and then discontinued "hospice" as needed.

What a travesty. Several nurses my sister worked with have left the profession since all this.

RunningLogic's avatar

Those who fought back and did the right thing in whatever way they were able have my gratitude. With all of the pressure and potential punishment, it surely wasn’t the easy path.

Cornishrexlover's avatar

Kara, so I just have to tell you a story about a friend of mine. They were a nurse and refused to get vaccinated. They were then ostracized at work and had to stay in their office with the door shut. They did more phone work as a nurse. Anyway, maybe he came very depressed and I turned them on to C&C (Jeff) ❤️ & a pastor that I follow and listen to. One thing led to another, and it turned into a blessing. Like your experience, eventually the other nurses caught on and thought the whole thing was ridiculous and they would sneak in and see my friend. They even ended up feeling sorry for her and told her that they thought she was being treated unfairly. But she stuck it out.

kara's avatar

Your friend is amazingly brave. Thank you for sharing this story.

Unwoke in Idaho's avatar

Well they were busy dancing and posting videos. They didn’t have time for anything else.

Bitsy54's avatar

My cousin, an MD, called Bovine Excrement early in the days of dancing “healthcare” workers. She said if you truly have multiple emergencies going on, like hospitals did on 9/11, you have no time or energy to choreograph and perform dances; you are mentally and physically exhausted.

RunningLogic's avatar

They were busy doing something, but that something was definitely not taking care of patients 😡

Barbara ( Portlander😵‍💫)'s avatar

Oh the hospital who had my daughter in law finally let us visit knowing she was never going to make it ( 3 weeks ). We got to hold her as they removed the ventilator. Will I always have nightmares I wonder.

Johnny-O's avatar

Trojan Horse Trump's medicaid services paid out handsomely for administration of Remdesivir (run death is near) and ventilators, of course, as well as pushing the deadly clot shot.

RunningLogic's avatar

You couldn’t just say “I’m sorry for your loss” Johnny O? 🙄 My brother wasn’t given remdesivir, it wasn’t even a thing at that point, he didn’t even have Covid, it was completely unrelated. But way to make the post about your agenda 🙄

Johnny-O's avatar

You also made it about your agenda, RL. Just sayin. Sorry about your loss. I imagine every single person here has bad stories about the covid psyop. I know I do.

I still would like accountability so things like this don't happen again, and ignoring the fact that Trump also played a huge role in it won't help to get there.

RunningLogic's avatar

No I didn’t. There was no “agenda” except to mourn the loss of my brother and give a reminder of why it happened. Thanks for stomping all over that though, and for showing the kind of person you really are.

Johnny-O's avatar

Sorry, I'm not going to engage in your petty name calling and will stick to the big topics - like Trojan Horse Trump destroying the country. Big bad me, I know. Mine is somehow an "agenda" and your own personal commentary is not. Okay, if you say so.

I was thinking this morning about the irony of no kings marches and that whole cluster when under biden we were literally commanded to follow their fake lying orders because Science! And so many people died as a direct result of it. It will always be relevant. NEVER FORGET. Very sorry for your loss 🥲

We happened to drive through Gettysburg (Pa) Saturday, saw this crowd of people, wondered what on earth? Then saw the signs. Hadn't been aware that this was coming. Husband put his MAGA hat back on, but we aren't driving in a convertible, so no one could see it. There were several street corners, each with its own crowd of crazies. Today wondered about a possiblen correlation between No Kings participation and covid-jab uptake.

Lisa Ca's avatar

100% because they are delusional

Mary Fisher's avatar

I’ve wondered about the same thing. But most of them were crazy before the clot shots.

Karen Bandy's avatar

True, they were leaving their groceries on the porch for a day, then wiping them off, then bringing them in. Same with Amazon packages. 📦

No more beach trips with the girls, and then 1 year after the vax came out, no girl trips for me ‘the great unvaxxed’.

LiveDreamRepeat's avatar

Our biblical homeschool news, World Watch, did a segment on the "No Kings" rallies this morning. My four kids, ages 8-16, all clearly saw how illogical the protestors' stance was. Sad that grown adults are so brainwashed (and likely jab-injured) that they can't think critically for themselves.

On an island's avatar

Definitely brain damaged!

BelleTower's avatar

My favorite move when driving by the lunatics, is to hold my hand to the side of my face like a blinder. I do not even look at you. You are nonexistent to me.

Susan L.'s avatar

I just shook my head as I drove by. The posters they held asked for drivers to honk in agreement with their protests….it was dead silent at the intersection where they congregated. Ha!

Linda Whitney's avatar

The irony abounds, Silent. The Left is absolutely blind to their own hypocrisy and ignorance.

When confronted by No Kings virtue signal goblin festivities, I always have to wonder how many of those fools celebrated the assassination of Charlie Kirk last September. These are not simply good people concerned about the well-being of democracy. These are self righteous idiots deeply involved in their TDS and making sure their cult sees their display of hatred.

But they have zero plans for repairing the damage that their permissive progressive policies have done to the country. They're drooling for their return to power and using other people’s money to get back to tearing it all down.

Bard Joseph's avatar

We must not mix up psyops and paid crisis actors.

Linda Whitney's avatar

There’s that, but I know some of these people and they aren’t being paid. They're simply gullible and enjoy the opportunity to throw a tantrum because their stupidity has been challenged.

Silent scorn's avatar

Yes… same here. Friends that I didn’t expect were all in on the “virtue signal goblin festivities”.

SHug's avatar

Sorry Linda, I believe the word you meant instead of gullible was unhinged.

Cabogirl's avatar

All of them for sure cheered the shooting if Charlie Kirk. We can be sure of that.

Linda Whitney's avatar

Sadly true, Cabo. It kills me to know that.

I had already spent several years moving away from the Left. But that single event and the response from the brain addled libs, locked it. I’m done.

I can be courteous to get by but I will never again believe that there is real humanity or ‘empathy' in their agenda.

I’ve lost friends. I don’t care.

Cabogirl's avatar

Lost friends too. All older people

Linda Whitney's avatar

Yes! Strange how the demographics of TDS tend toward the aged and the female. I wonder sometimes if it’s a wish to remain relevant.

I didn’t know this about your brother (and I’m very sorry to hear it), but I do know that I will go to my grave angry about what happened during Covid, and I’ll be telling my grandkids about what happened so they can be historically aware. Because the worst thing would be when our generation is gone for the kids to think ‘meh, it wasn’t so bad,’ like they seem to be doing with the Holocaust. The real one, I mean.

Renea Buchholz's avatar

I have an old coffee table with glass in top. We put cards and such under it to keep and look at. On my husband’s birthday after his heart surgery the grandkids drew pictures for him. Before his surgery he was put in the closed off scary covid floor. He was so angry about the idea of being there a week waiting that he pulled out his ivs and snuck down the back stairs in his green oregon ducks sweatshirt. I picked him up while the security was searching for him. Was an amazing feat. All the coffee table cards are pictures of his escape. #neverforget

Oh how I WISH we could post photos here to see. That’s an amazing story! Unbelievable that people actually had to try to ESCAPE hospitals!! And all the lawsuits to try to get a hospital to release a loved one. It’s mind blowing that anyone today would think this current administration is the authoritarian one after all THAT.

pretty-red, old guy's avatar

I have an escape story. . .

OK, so last year my wife was just leaving clinic; Picked her up after colonoscopy. Thought it was a great time to eat out at Olive Garden, right next door. So, I chowed down on the pasta Fagioli soup, and started in on multiple helpings of bread sticks. About half way through the huge plate of spaghetti and meatballs . . . uh, something(!) went south. Looked at the wife and said, I kind of feel faint, gonna' put me head down lower. . . next thing I knew I was waking up still in my chair (being held up by the folks behind our table and wife) and a minute later the paramedics show up.

Holy Crapp, did NOT like that.

Well they had the gurney there and my wife was lobbying for me to go to the ER; I said wellllllll, let's see here. . . maybe we can just go out and get some fresh air. . . still, I could not basically move but to the point: No pain, no heart jitterbuggin', no arm pain or chest pain. So, they scooted me out to the meat wagon and started me on oxygen and wanted in the WORST way to stick an IV in. (If the IV goes in they "get" to take me to the hospital, thems the rules.) I said well what's going on with my heart, is it bouncing the ball up and down correctly? Well, they tested me three times or so and said there was some kind of slight deal where the ball didn't quite make it all the way back to the starting line. . . long story short, suggestive of a heart attack(I learned later this was BS, they basically lied.) So, I let them take me. Got into the ER and within 20 min they got the high powered cardio pro from Dover and he acknowledged no heart attack.

The next FOUR hours they spend giving me test after test trying to find a way to keep me overnight. Round about 7 pm I had had enough. Sent the wife out to reconoiter the hospital hallways for a quick exit and when the last little RN bitch told me "No, that's not the way it works here" Waited 5 minutes and pulled out my IV and taped it up and walked "normally" out of the butcher shop. They called me 3 times on our half hour ride home in my Cadillac XT6 trying to get me to return, threatening me with cops and arrest since the idiots couldn't find my IV needle (in their hazardous waste bin).

So, that's my story! Screw hospitals, Screw doctors.

OK, the rest of the story, Paul Harvey was rolling over. . .

No, no heart attack, I have low blood pressure and all those carbs went to my gastric track and the blood followed, leave the heart somewhat shy of what it needed to pump enough to keep my head lolling around. . . I need to eat slower and not so much.

Juju's avatar

Wow. It really angers me that in a free country a hospital thinks they can force a patient to stay who clearly does not want to and can get the cops involved. What!!?!?!? Where is our freedom to choose for ourselves?

Runemasque's avatar

I love your story! Please compile an escape collection.

pretty-red, old guy's avatar

Elizabeth Klein's avatar

Give your husband a hug for me! Brilliant that he was of a mind to do so. Falls under the banner of “We will not comply!” How many would just sit there waiting…! I hope I would be of such a mindset. Never give up!

Lisa Ca's avatar

You are so right about waiting! It really was brave of him. because after major surgery you never know what kind of complications you will have.

i do wonder though hat did his doctor say afterward???? Do tell

rolandttg's avatar

A former co worker had a similar situation where his wife went in for one thing and ended up captured and covid protocols. And neglected. His entreaties went unanswered. Finally he went in and physically escorted her out. The nurse called security. When he was confronted, he slowly pulled up his shirt. Security put up his hands and walked away. Sadly, the damage had been done, he put her in hospice, and his 60 year marriage was over. Sadly part 2, none of his friends, family, or former co workers, save me, believe they killed her.

Amy's avatar

😓😓😓

I am so sorry about your brother. His circumstances are legion. Many people were left to die alone in cold and heartless hospitals. I am a retired RN and I was appalled at the treatment of the dear people in nursing homes as well and was grateful that my own mom had passed several years before this debacle. We were able to be at her bedside. I will never forget and I will be passing this on to my grandkids, as well.

Tonya's avatar

In June of 2020, I was helping to circulate a petition to reign in Gov. Whitmer's overreach, so I met many people who were directly affected by what had been happening, including those who quit their jobs in nursing homes because they couldn't participate in the harms they were causing, and those who kept their jobs in order to be at least one caring soul in the lives of their unfortunate patients. Each person's situation was unique, and I appreciate those who did whatever they could do in good conscience to make things better, not worse, for those poor people.

RunningLogic's avatar

We actually hired nurses who refused the jab and lost their jobs to help out when my mom got sick. So grateful for them!

I am VERY sorry for your loss, RunningLogic! I lost my 37 yr old nephew - in January 2022 - and a brother in August same year. 😭 I feel your pain and loss! And NO! I will never forget either!

RunningLogic's avatar

Thank you, and I am very sorry for your losses as well 😢💔

I also lost my mom to turbo cancer almost exactly two years after my brother, and then my dad to heart issues another year and a half later (I suspect that was jab related too, but it’s a little more ambiguous). Not to mention friends and colleagues 😞

VelvetStitching's avatar

I would have checked the heart on your post, but I cannot!

After my nephew passed, his mother died of cancer 18 months later and yes my Dad in 2024. We have parallels, my friend. I grief afresh!

BTW - I watched the trailer link you posted! Yes! I will NEVER forget the Covid LIES and the "cabbage" leadership and unelected enforcers of those years of nonsense!

I have continuing health issues from masking (forced to during flights to and from my family home as my Dad struggled through his end of life) The Lord will heal or strengthen and I rely on Him fully!

BTW - I read all the comments today - and I agree with your post of yesterday - the conversations on C&C have changed! 🥴

Yesterday I dialogued with "A" several times - definitely a bot or invader of some kind, the conversation was nonsense. "A" claimed to be called names and mistreated by we so called Christians.

I think some kind of battle has just ramped up in cyber realm!

Stay safe and may the Lord bless you and keep you! 🙏🏼

RunningLogic's avatar

Thank you VelvetStitching ❤️🙏 Yes we have some sad and unfortunate parallels 😞

I got so angry all over again reading that article by the mom who wants to make this movie about the Covid evils!

Definitely can relate to all of the after effects from masking etc. My son (whose school actually tried to be as normal as possible) lost so much especially in reading level due to that whole BS (excuse the “language” but for once I think it’s not inappropriate). I have been homeschooling him and it’s been a struggle to figure out how to get him to the level I think he should be 😕

Agree with you about the comments and the battle. We need to be vigilant.

Gloria Magee's avatar

Check out the Wordly Wise program. I used it homeschooling and also helping other kids that were behind. It’s hard to find a curriculum that fits both teacher and student…. But I wish you luck in that endeavor. It’s horrible what they did to adults and families and I’m so sorry for all the losses you and your family experienced but what they did to our innocent children will reap the wrath of God.

RunningLogic's avatar

Thank you Gloria, I appreciate your suggestion and support!

VelvetStitching's avatar

I homeschooled for 26 years (5 kids). Just a suggestion - don't try to get your son to “level”!

Just read to him, pick subjects he is very interested in, his attention will be captured with interest which is where we all learn best!

I read to my last three children voraciously (what abig word!) and they all excelled! The first two I tried to “public school at home!” - it was stressful!

Yes - their education was also successful - but could have been so much more enjoyable!

“Wordly wise” is great vocabulary program.

Math U See good math program. (I tried many of them!)

Notgrass history was very good and “Understanding the Times” - worldviews vying for their hearts and minds. And best book:

The BIBLE - God's Word!

Find some friends who have kids abt the same age as yours and co-op together! Good fellowship and good learning together relying on each other's strengths, covering the weak areas together!

I know you didn't ask for the advice - but I sure could have benefitted from someone sharing with me in those difficult years!

And Apologia curriculum for Science.

I bought much of these books from Christian Book Distributors online.

I wish you the best!

Pray and God will give you the best guidance where to go with your son's education!

You are his parent - you love him the most - the education you give will be better than the indoctrination received at any “good” Government Schools!

Again, God bless and keep you!

John 14:27

RunningLogic's avatar

Thank you VelvetStitching ❤️ I appreciate your kind and thoughtful suggestions. We are a little past that point for the most part as I started homeschooling him in middle school and there was a lot going on in our personal lives too so that just added to the difficulties. He’s in high school now it’s harder to make up for the lost time and development.

We are actually using Notgrass for history this year and we really like it (suggestion from our state homeschool association regional representative). We also are doing the literature component, but that has proven to be more challenging and less appropriate. He mostly dislikes reading and reads very slowly (I suspect because the time when he was supposed to have been learning how to read more quickly was right during all the Covid nonsense). So I’m trying to add some extra things before we finish the year to make up for that.

I only mentioned “levels’ because he is in high school and hopes to go to college. So that is the perspective I am coming from. He does need to have a certain level of reading and writing ability to make it to college and in college level courses.

He is actually involved in a co-op and takes a science class and a Bible study class as well as an art class there. It’s been very helpful but he hasn’t really made any friends there. He has neighborhood friends who share our values and friends from his sports team he interacts with, so that is good.

In any case I do appreciate your insights, support and encouragement, it means a lot ❤️🙏

Porge's avatar

Yes Velvet, agree. C&C seems to be invaded by trolls 🧌 lately. Somebody must be worried about something?

SHug's avatar

The invasion is probably because Jeff has been on a few podcasts lately. You can usually tell who they are as they never quote scripture and never offer prayers either. And they tend to be fractious without cause; such as inserting something hateful into a feeling post.

Porge's avatar

Thank you SHug, I'm afraid I can't offer any scripture as I don't know any, to be honest. But I do pray and offer prayers. I'm sure getting tired of trolls and haters though! And at times get into it with them. Sometimes they just trigger me lol 😆 and I have been known to have a temper

Yes, so many people were told to orotect themselves, and in the way that meant only to harm them, but they trusted and lives were lost and ruined forever…a horrible “holocaust”. God bless you.

I am very sorry for what happened to your brother and your family, RL. Some atrocious things occurred due to the evil COVID Psy-Op. Which was basically due to psychopathic power-mongers playing God.

May I suggest the Wilma Derksen book, "The Way of Letting Go"? I found it helpful myself.

RunningLogic's avatar

Thanks for the condolences.

Lynne Morris's avatar

I am so, so sorry for not only your loss, but also the circumstance in which it occurred.

RunningLogic's avatar

Thank you Lynne ❤️ It was especially devastating for my parents, who tried to get in the facility and help him but were rebuffed and then the shock at having things happen so quickly with such a tragic result 😞

Dear RL,

I am so sorry for the loss of your brother. May he be resting in the arms of his savior. What they did was horrific and unfortunately we have many Americans who went along with it. May we continue to defend those who did the right thing in spite of the costs and let the light shine on all of the evil.

On the memorial of your brother’s passing, may you be comforted by the peace that surpasses all understanding.

RunningLogic's avatar

Thank you Mo, I very much appreciate your kind words and prayers 🙏

RJ Rambler's avatar

I'm no medical anybody but i did attend three months in nursing school in 1980. I ranted my little scientifically wired brain half connected to my mouth about these atrocities to anyone who would hear!!! Wisdom crying and shouting to all who passed by.

I knew ppl were suffering and dying. I've been alone in a hospital too many times but I knew my ppl would come for me in the morning. I would NEVER leave a loved one alone if at all possible to keep guard today!!

I'm so very sorry for those who lost soldiers in that senseless battle.

RunningLogic's avatar

I’m glad you tried to warn people about the costs and consequences! Too many with the ability to know better remained silent! 😕

Deb's avatar

So very sorry. So many were harmed by those in power at that time... their lies caused all this and still no one is being held accountable! I will say a prayer for you today.

RunningLogic's avatar

Thank you Deb! Much appreciate the prayers 🙏❤️ Faith in God is what has helped me get through these tough times.

—“This is a fascinating type of dictatorship. It is the kind of dictatorship where you can organize a massive, highly publicized public rally to yell at the dictator, and the dictator’s police force actually blocks off traffic so you can yell more safely. In historical dictatorships, like the ones run by actual kings, traffic control was generally handled by guys with halberds, and the penalty for yelling at the king was that your head was relocated to a spike.”

This paragraph and the ones following were pure gold!! 🤣🤣🤣

My favorite today from Trump “you never know about Iran because we negotiate with them’ and then we always have to blow them up”. Hilarious

Johnny-O's avatar

You think blowing up humans is hilarious? War is hilarious? Unpredictable madmen are hilarious?

Skeptical Actuary's avatar

It's dark humor. Mr. Trump doesn't want to shed any more blood than he has too. Note the "we HAVE to blow them up".

We ALL wish there was a reasonable group of people that could step up to the table to negotiate. Unfortunately, the old ayatollah put out a fatwa to all the religious guard to fight on forever, and as I understand it, NO ONE can undo that fatwa, not even the new Ayatollah.

Johnny-O's avatar

Mr. Trump is a standup Christian and role model.

Adnana's avatar

I think yes, because 'lie to me once, shame on you; lie to me twice, shame on me' and this is what Iranians do: they lie ad continuum. Has to stop at some point, so yes, keep your word or boom. Ponder this aspect first and then there'll be no chance for you to scold, Mr. Johnny-O.

Johnny-O's avatar

You mean like lying during negotiations and bombing Iran, not once, but twice, which is a war crime in itself?

Adnana's avatar

Meaning like destroying Persia and making it Islamic by sword, not philosophy (which is what the Quran teaches). Liars, liars, liars for a very long time. Has to either keep their word or... live the fate they fated others.

Christine's avatar

Peanuts. Buy peanuts. You will magically have squirrels.

Kelly's avatar

I have. I think the groundhog steals them before any squirrels get a chance. Oddly, we just really dont have many squirrels here. I saw one, but he disappeared. :( I’ll keep trying. :)

Ya ..I used to yell at the squirrels in Portland as there were an over abundance of them. They would dig up all my newly purchased and carefully planted garden. I read the coffee grounds stopped or supposedly slowed them down. Not in my case they got addicted to coffee and running around digging up everything for more caffeine. It was just crazy. Luckily no squirrels here but the sun and salty de-sal water is brutal.

RunningLogic's avatar

Oh no, caffeinated squirrels!!! 😳😆 I’m both horrified and laughing at the same time 😆

Cabogirl's avatar

I have to tell you the squirrels on caffeine were just nuts digging through the planters and garden. Very hyped up and the result was 20 times worse than without the coffee grinds.

RunningLogic's avatar

For a more recent example of true dictatorship: the Iranian government killed over 30,000 of its own people who peacefully protested and hung an athlete. I really wish we could ship these protesters to a country like Iran or China and let them live their desired “freedom” from Trump.

The athlete they hung was hung along side two friends. They were protesting and got caught up in a fray with govt thugs... And, they hung an 18 yr old girl just the other day.🥺 She, too, was fighting against the govt.

Mary Ann Caton's avatar

My take on Jill Biden's Secret Service man who shot himself is that he found a way out of her detail. It was either kill himself or shoot his leg. Can you blame him?

Mini-mum's avatar

My thoughts exactly! Maybe he was assigned to her detail for another stretch of time and he decided shooting himself in the leg was a better fate.

JasonT's avatar

Easier than trying to get a Section 8 apparently. Can you blame him? Getting stuck on the Jill detail...

Mary Ann Caton's avatar

Exactly! It must be insufferable what with her being a medical doctor and all. At least if you're on Joe's detail, you can occupy yourself with helping him up when he falls.

Erin Montgomery's avatar

Jill is not a medical doctor, she has a doctorate in education I believe.

Mary Ann Caton's avatar

Yes, I'm aware of her so-called doctorate in education; those degrees are widely regarded as a joke in academia. They are SO easy to get. My favorite "doctoral thesis" in education was a gym teacher who wrote his thesis on the best way to store volley balls. That was at Penn State back in the 1980s.

What I said up there was a joke. There's a clip of Whoopie Goldberg of The View being all excited that Jill had a medical degree. I think a lot of libs might even still believe that an Ed.D. is an M.D. LOLOLOL

Skeptical Actuary's avatar

Somebody dug into the details of her thesis, it was about as poor as one might expect. I don't remember the details too well, but she sent out a survey to maybe 100 people and wrote up the results of the 20 or so people that returned the survey, along with some conclusions.

Mary Ann Caton's avatar

I found it online years ago. About as dumb as its author.

Willing Spirit's avatar

I got it!!! Being a doctor, and all…what a pathetic loser, Jill is.

Austin the Pug-puppy's avatar

Mary Ann Caton's avatar

I had not heard that!

CStone's avatar

You do know she’s NOT a medical doctor, don’t you?

Mary Ann Caton's avatar

Ever since I can remember, I've been aware that an Ed.D. is NOT an M.D. and it's not even academic. What I said up there was a joke.

CStone's avatar

I thought so. But nuance is hard to detect sometimes in comments

But I also remember a clip of some show talking about how great doctor she is and everyone was making fun of them because they believed she was a medical Dr.

Mary Ann Caton's avatar

she is probably an affirmative action or DEI doc. She was not bright enough to get through any kind of med school curriculum.

Mary Ann Caton's avatar

Probably not a DEI doc because getting an Ed.D. is so freaking easy. My dogs could earn one, but I'd have to do the typing for them. LOL Sadly, it's the single most popular advanced degree that school teachers get when they long to be promoted to principle or school administrator.

Lori's avatar

LOL. Everyone got a prayer mat for attending.

Tonya's avatar

"We've had all our rights taken away" was the reason one local protester here in El Paso, Texas gave for her participation in the "No Kings" event. Too bad the "journalist" didn’t ask the obvious follow-up question of "What rights, exactly, have been stripped from you by this administration?"

Susan Seas's avatar

The right to protest? Nope

The right to freedom of speech? No! The right to leave your house? Still No. Definitely not the right to show yourself as a complete idiot.

J. Lincoln's avatar

I note with irony that it was the previous "dictator" that made it unlawful to leave our homes and go to the beach because of a seasonal influenza-like outbreak.

Tonya's avatar

Yes, the video of the arrest of the paddleboarder should have made it clear to everyone that it wasn't about health or safety.

dancingtime's avatar

Well....regarding covid as having been a seasonal flu....My position has not changed since that time and I was monitoring the "novel" flu since 2019...My position was and is that it was a flu with a designated target audience: the elderly and the unhealthy....a herd reduction....those are the members of any herd which needs culling. The de-populationists have been around for a long time....Bill Gates is one of them...Margaret Sanger was another, although she had a specialty of who to eliminate....My position is that not only did the people behind funding the creation of this virus want to reduce the world population in general but the Chinese, who revere their elderly, also needed to rid themselves of the "useless eaters"....it had been reported for some time that their overpopulation was with the wrong demographics: They needed more young males and the one child mandate hadn't worked out that well. (One Chinese friend had told me that the "one child" was not for the countryside farmers....it was more for the cities.) The virus would serve two masters: reduction in world population (remember Italy) and reduction of the revered Chinese elderly. I believe that its lethality was not finalized because....Trump....they had to get rid of Trump. I do not believe that it was a seasonal flu. It was a targeting flu for a purpose released (not escaped) from the lab before it was finalized.

Willing Spirit's avatar

So many lost freedoms😢. Wah, wah, wah…

Willing Spirit's avatar

Skeptical Actuary's avatar

I've unfriended almost all of my liberal friends on facebook (or they have unfriended me), but when I see a news organization post something about no kings, I might say something like:

Go ahead and protest; it's a free country.

But you will look stupid. Why?

It's a free country.

Thanks as always for the levity, Jeff, I needed that today 😊

Tonya's avatar

And when he said, "The poster boards are being recycled," what he meant was that they were dutifully separated from the other trash, thrown in the correct bin, collected by additional trucks designated for paper and cardboard only, then thrown in the landfill with everything else, after all.

JudyC's avatar

Oh, heck no. They’re “recycled “ for the next paid protest….dutifully collected and stored away to be brought out with the pallets of bricks or cinder blocks when needed.

Beckadee's avatar

Apparently, a Craigs List post was recruiting morons to sell merch for the protests in Phoenix. 20% commission.

Cabogirl's avatar

Yep. I told you it was paid for. It’s not oganic.

Runemasque's avatar

As someone with an organizer in the family, recycling and upcycling protest signs is a thing. There are standard preparatory pizza party meetings where everyone can get to know each other and make signs and whatever I'm ignorant due to my family seeing clearly that I am not sufficiently outraged to be invited. I did get polled on messaging, though. They really really want to stick in the allusions to kings and how neighbors should behave, but they don't really want to understand why their messaging and branding is not winning over the people who inexplicably aren't already right there with them. I said, "you could always just try talking to your actual neighbors and try to understand them..." Broadcasting branding from afar is preferred to neighboring "those people." These protestor people that I know care deeply, but can't bear the stress of trying to talk to the people truly in their life. We've all been fouled by the successful behavioral conditioning of factionalization. Incongruent viewpoints trigger emotional overwhelm and programmed reactivity.

Kenneth N. Myers's avatar

This is a little off today's topic but I think I have discovered a superpower technique to eliminate all of those obnoxious political fundraising texts. You know, the ones from WinRed. If you respond with "stop," you immediately start getting texts from ten new sources. Rather than responding with "stop," I have been responding with "when SAVE ACT is signed," or simply "SAVE ACT." It's worked in glorious fashion for me. The obnoxious texts are almost gone. There are just enough for me to get the satisfaction of responding with my superpower text once a day or so. Whether or not it works, I feel that I've accomplished more for the day than most US Senators, Senator Lee excepted of course.

Beckadee's avatar

I'm never doing the WinRed donation again! They are as guilty of smurfing donations as Act Blue.

I’ll try that! Thanks

Skeptical Actuary's avatar

I'll try that! The worst texts are the ones that start with "You are making a big mistake..."

That sounds threatening to me.

Kenneth N. Myers's avatar

I agree. They are often offensive.

That's why I don't give. Back in the 2016 and 2020 election, I gave money to candidates only to find out later that it went to the RNC. No thanks.

Bitsy54's avatar

We give ONLY to the individual candidate- using their personal name on the check. I have absolutely no interest in the Retardican or the DemonRat parties on the whole.

Dr Linda's avatar

Of course progressives are against giving money to the individual for healthcare.

Progressives are not for individuals but rather commercial industry.

Valerie's avatar

So about the health insurance thing… if the federal government gives money directly to taxpayers to purchase insurance, which sounds on its face way better, won’t it actually just drive up costs by exactly that much?

Say the government gives $8k per year for a family of 4, the economics I’ve studied says that insurance companies will just raise their premiums for that insurance by that exact $8k. It’s why the government needs to stay out of the private market.

CraigN's avatar

This change would actually require insurance companies to compete for business.

Demeisen's avatar

Yeah, I think they realize the delivery system is too complex to make specific changes to without leaving a short term mess. Providing a few points of patient leverage would move things at least a little on the same direction.

I would favor also allowing some degree of self insurance. And making it easier for small medical practices and hospitals to compete. Eg remove price fixing by big insurance payers etc.

CraigN's avatar

Not certain how to make small hospitals and practices competitive. The only real solution, other than more government interference, is to somehow get those seeking insurance to come together as a purchasing cooperative and then negotiate with insurers to include exactly what they are wanting to purchase. Large insurance companies don't 'price fix' as much as they negotiate with providers for a discount on services and those discounts are based upon how many patients the insurer can potentially send to the providers. There are some provider networks e.g. Mayo that will negotiate very little if any discounts, because they can, and thus some of those provider networks end up being out of network for the insured. What I would like to see in the marketplace is the ability to purchase your insurance needs on an ala carte basis. That's not possible now because federal and some state laws require insurers to include services that the insured may not need or want e.g. maternity care for a single male. Those sort of laws drive up pricing across the board. Something like catastrophic medical coverage with a $10K out of pocket would be desirable to some people to just keep those really large events from causing lifelong financial ruin.

Valerie's avatar

How is that? They technically have to compete now, there are multiple companies on the exchange.

To be fair, I don’t use the exchange, so I may not fully understand. My knowledge is from people telling me about their experiences with it.

CStone's avatar

They aren’t having to compete with anything. They’re being SUBSIDIZED.

RunningLogic's avatar

I thought in some cases people had very limited choices, depending on where they lived and other factors? But I might also be misinformed or misunderstanding, so I hope someone can clarify!

CraigN's avatar

You are correct. Available offerings can differ geographically.

RunningLogic's avatar

Thank you for confirming, I appreciate that!

Austin the Pug-puppy's avatar

Obviously, something that completely escapes those whining about Trump getting rid of Obama"care."

DaveL's avatar

In general subsidies drive up costs. In this case, there's already subsidies directly to the insurance companies, so it might improve things. Maybe...

taxpayer's avatar

I think the problem with individual purchases of medical cost insurance is that some folks have serious expensive chronic conditions, so insurance companies would find them unprofitable. One way around this is to require companies to charge the same rate for everybody, but that makes the insurance too expensive for ordinary folks. Another way is to grant special subsidies to people with expensive conditions, but that would doubtless be abused. Another way is to count on private charity.

Dorota's avatar

Or they could directly help companies that actually make people healthier.

taxpayer's avatar

They could certainly do that, and perhaps could even do it honestly and effectively. But that doesn't address the problems of people who have chronic serious diseases for which there's no cheap effective cure.

Bitsy54's avatar

The eugenics cabal is actively working to kill HEALTHY people, so why is so much money being spent on preserving the very ill? Don’t hate me! I’m just making an observation.

taxpayer's avatar

I suspect that live sick people are more profitable than formerly healthy dead people.

Bitsy54's avatar

Yep. Our medical system today is a MARKETING system that has nothing to do with health or addressing root causes of problems. Diet is a huge contributor to poor health yet we continue to expand the fake and processed food “choices”. It makes me sick, pun intended.

Valerie's avatar

I hope you’re right. An improvement is desperately needed.

CStone's avatar

It would give the family the ability to pay cash for their healthcare. So they would HAVE TO LOWER their prices and the hospitals and drs would actually have to ‘compete’ for everyone’s business.

Valerie's avatar

If the money is in the system for healthcare, the healthcare system will suck it up. IMHO the only way for medical costs to go down is to make it a completely free market, like auto or homeowners.

Maybe I’m wrong. But I’m fairly well-read on economics. I would really like for some things to be actually improved rather than trading one problem for a different one.

RunningLogic's avatar

Transparency in pricing would be helpful, I know there’s been work done on this but there is more to do imo. All of the things that help drive costs up need to be addressed.

CraigN's avatar

Uffda. That is a very tall order. Just one case in point. The obesity rate in the U.S. is off the charts. Obesity contributes significantly to chronic disease. What contributes to obesity, big food. So now to address just obesity you are looking to make changes in big food. There are a lot of trickle down issues that would need to be addressed. Not saying that it cannot be done, but in this one single instance some degree of responsibility lies with individual choices also. And then you have that to address. If I had a magic wand.....

Dorota's avatar

There are big differences in per patient charges if you don't have medical insurance.

CStone's avatar

I have read that many times it’s cheaper to pay cash.

Dorota's avatar

You won't be able to if you have coverage.

The price is only for truly uninsured.

CStone's avatar

From my understanding, (and I may not have it right), that’s the whole point, isn’t it?

The taxpayer gets to keep the money and either buy insurance or pay cash .

Dr Linda's avatar

I am not disagreeing with your comment or thoughts. I had similar thoughts. However, I think it’s up to the individual. Flaws are sadly part of the process.

Valerie's avatar

I get that. There’s no perfect system, but it can definitely be better. I hope you’re right, but I’m suspicious of any government involvement in a market, we have a lot of experience seeing what happens.

Dr Linda's avatar

Don’t disagree. My comment was not to say that I am on either side.

I am not sure government can make much of anything better especially when lobbying is allowed, as well as the ability to alter bills as they go through committees.

Cabogirl's avatar

I’m sure there’s a way to make this better. A try is worth it for sure.

Sam's avatar

Health insurance needs to be removed from the equation - just pay the doctor directly. Doctors could have non-insurance fees. Better yet, pay doctors that actually care about health more than pushing pharma meds.

Dorota's avatar

Some doctors do, and they are much lower than those insurance pays.

hail_ants's avatar

You are absolutely correct— long term effect is that prices increase.

Cabogirl's avatar

I sure hope not.

Bitsy54's avatar

How about if the government gets out of healthcare and DOESN’T steal our money to pay for a sick care system? The government has no more responsibility to pay for “healthcare” than they do for house or car insurance. Let the public keep our money and buy whatever insurance or medical care we desire. I don’t do doctors or drugs but crappy government insurance won’t pay for homeopathic or chiropractic health care OR diet programs to ward off illness.

Alan Devincentis's avatar

Called competition. Imagine you have the choice ( I know, strange word these days) to purchase insurance from a choice of suppliers, who actually want your business.

Christine's avatar

I thought the money was to directly pay for care rather than insurance. I must be missing something.

RunningLogic's avatar

Yes I was wondering about that too. It would be good to get some clarification.

Progressivism is merely the face of oligarchy. Follow the money, it never lies.

Mixture of industry and powerful government bound tightly together. There's a name for that system of organization, rhymes with lascism.

They've just figured out over the last couple of decades how to take over and brand it with leftism. So they call the Right fascist due to outdated cultural stereotypes but advocate that system.

Jared Polis can keep transing kids as long as the trains run on time, and the media well celebrate him as a great governor.

Good to see you channeling your inner Dave Barry with the band names. How about "Janet Yellen and the Treasuries" as a jazz quintet?

Lynne Morris's avatar

Janet Yellen and the

C Notes?

Navyo Ericsen's avatar

That would be the C word.

Lynne Morris's avatar

Oh I did not think of it that way. Well done! I love double entendre.

John Plodinec's avatar

Wish I'd thought of that!

Alan Devincentis's avatar

Or Yellin Janet and the treasurists?

I said it years ago, back in the early days of the Covid wars…Jeff’s commentary is like Dave Barry meets PJ O’Rourke, with the sharp wit and sarcasm of Rush seasoning it all. So. And yes, “The Pantaloons” would be an outstanding name for a folk band.
