Leader after leader proclaimed Christ at Charlie’s memorial service. They didn’t just refer to God in some nebulous manner; they boldly shared the gospel. They spoke the name of Jesus. They shared the truth that gives life. Hallelujah!

✝️✝️✝️

“For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven,

And do not return there without watering the earth

And making it bear and sprout,

And giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater,

So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth;

It will not return to Me empty,

Without accomplishing what pleases Me,

And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.”

— Isaiah 55:10-11 NAS95

Spot on as always Janice.

From a British pastor:

My dear American friends,

We British Christians would get excited when, once a year, Queen Elizabeth would make a mild but sincere reference to the love of Jesus Christ in her Christmas address.

In Charlie Kirks' Memorial service, watched by tens of millions, I just heard:

- Multiple clear presentations of the gospel from men like @robmccoyus and @DrFrankTurek with clear calls to repentance and faith

- Worship songs full of Scripture sung by tens of thousands live and millions at home

- Personal testimonies of lives transformed by the work of Christ and the witness of believers

- Demonstration and explanation of the value of marriage, child-rearing and family

- Calls to Romans 13 for the government to bear the sword for the protection of good and punishment of the wicked

- Declarations of spiritual warfare on the forces of evil and promises to endure no matter the cost

- Calls to be prophets and call the nation to repent

- More Scripture references and Bible readings than I can count

- And a widow publicly forgiving her husband's killer because Christ forgave his killers on the cross.

All of it done before, and by, the most powerful people in your nation and the world.

You guys should be on your knees thanking God for your country. It is a light to the world.

Never stop fighting for it.

My late husband died at the age of 47 of a very rare neurological disease for which there was no treatment or cure. It was horrific and heartbreaking, diagnosed in June and he died in early Sept. There were so many people that came to the funeral that the church was packed to overflowing and the narthex and parking lot were full of people who stood the entire time to listen to the service and message. The pastor boldly preached the Gospel clearly so many people were impacted by that. Obviously it wasn’t even a fraction of the crowd at Charlie’s memorial service but to my pastor, (and me) the importance of sharing the gospel at a time of grief and heartache is so important because it’s a message of hope and comfort. Death doesn't have the final word.

Pastor Mark Driscoll put up a tweet regarding the state of the church when a bunch of politicians stated the Gospel more clearly and forcefully than half the pulpits in America. Amen brother.

If your pastor isn't sharing the Gospel as forcefully as Pete Hegseth and Tucker Carlson (two former Fox News hosts of all people) then you really might want to consider another church.

I do hope you’ll find a genuine Bible believing, bible teaching church led by a pastor who loves Jesus & his flock. Being a part of a church family is a joy; in hard times that family holds one up in prayer & action.

We were new in our church when I became seriously ill; quite unexpectedly & sudden. I wasn’t given much chance of surviving. My church family circled up & prayed faithfully & fervently for me & cared for my family too.

Part of that time I wasn’t given much totally unaware.

When I finally recovered & was well enough to attend services the welcoming I encountered was so very sweet.

We had left our previous church & were physically churches for about 2+ yrs. We watched online some fabulous pastors (out of town; but oh so godly shepherds of vibrant churches). But we missed having a local church & pastor.

And visited then joined this wonderful body of believers who are humble servants of God.

Our pastor gathered us together the night Charlie was murdered. He addressed what happened & called it what it was. Charlie was martyred for his faith. He spoke addressing the fears, sadness, horror, etc.

We prayed at our kneeling benches & in pews, wherever. We worshipped. We heard God’s Word.

That Sunday we had a guest pastor whose planned sermon went on, but fit the matter on every heart.

This past Sunday when we had a mini concert by a family who sings, our pastor still preached a wonderful message; this time about Charlie & his boldness, his love for others, his style of speaking about his faith, wanting young people to find true purpose in life, etc. our pastor challenged us to be like Charlie! He talked to our youth, parents, grandparents, all.

Outstanding message!

We departed & went home to watch Charlie’s Memorial.

I don’t know which branch, but it did close during covid; a few are still wearing masks, communion is served by elders wearing gloves, the organist and several others in prominent positions are openly gay. The organist leaves the sanctuary during times he is not playing. And of course, Charlie Kirk’s name was never spoken. The church was built in 1887 and was first organized around the early 1800s, if that’s any clue. The town it’s in is a red part of rural Pennsylvania, far from Pittsburgh, Penn State, and Philadelphia. Any of that help?

I may sound judgemental, but you just listed several reasons why I personally would leave that church. I go to a tiny Free Will Baptist church. Our preacher has stated numerous times he will not preach politics or tell us how to vote. He preaches only from the Bible. He doesn't preach about current events, but he uses scripture to help us understand and deal with them. I pray that you find a church that meets your needs and expectations.

I hope you tell the pastor (and any legal body that governs the church if there is one) that you are leaving / have left, and why. In addition, if you DO succeed in finding a church you like better I think it would be pretty funny to leaflet the cars in the parking lot one Sunday anonymously telling folks that if they want to find a church that does 'x, y and z' they should check out ___(your new church).

Does the preacher preach the Truth in the sermon? My preacher mentioned the numerous atrocities of the last couple of weeks. Then he continued with our study of Genesis. I don't think it was necessary for him to preach about Charlie, he's not our Savior. Yes, he was a good man, he loved God and his family, and he shared the Gospel with many people.

The only church I ever left was one that felt dead, and twisted the Bible. Maybe there are other reasons that you are leaving that church?

Expand full comment
Mary Ann Caton's avatar

No other reason for leaving. I am very attached to that church; I grew up in it and it’s a beautiful sanctuary. But when the nation is grieving and we are beset with so many other profound problems transgenderism, wars, political violence, etc., I think a pastor has an obligation to address them. The Bible is an ancient text that has all kinds of truth to say to the present and how to confront them.

No one in the station was buying it. There was muttering all around. But I'm sure that a lot of people did buy it. They are out there today protesting sending them back.

Some of the same leaders who were speaking of Jesus support and impose death & destruction on innocent people; for profit. We know them by their fruits. Remember, when Jesus cast out demons they would proclaim who Jesus is.

Here's a question, the people living today, that this applies to, do they realize this is how they will be received by Christ?

"Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”

You said you didn't see the event, yet you stated "Some of the same leaders who were speaking of Jesus (at the event) support and impose death & destruction on innocent people; for profit. We know them by their fruits. Remember, when Jesus cast out demons they would proclaim who Jesus is."

I'm not going to assume I know which leaders you speak of that support and impose death & destruction nor WHO the innocent people are... much less who is profiting off them... but I gather you're implying that just as the demons knew Jesus, these leaders also know Jesus and you're equating them with demons... Quite a mouthful from someone who didn't see/hear the event....

"...support and impose death & destruction on innocent people; for profit..."

Let's see. Right off the bat I can think of BigPharma and the medical "industry" that for several years now has been imposing and profiting from the death and destruction of Americans caused by the bio-weapon jab. Oh, and then there is the NeoCon war and money laundering profiteering in Ukraine which lines the pockets of the MIC. That's just for starters! And you think it's all about Gaza? Little defensive there, aren't you?

No, Christ's condemnation goes way beyond Gaza. We have more than enough sins to account for right here in the USA. Just for example, the legalization of child murder in 1973 has resulted in 70 MILLION murder babies through abortion. As for Gaza, that's on Israel and Netanyahu. I'll make an analogy that even the simple should understand. A member of a competing family murders a member of my extended family. Does that then justify my family then taking up arms to kill every member of the competing family and then, since their house is now empty (though covered in blood), we move into their house and their land expelling anyone who managed to stay alive? God's law, the absolute definition of morality, applies to everyone. Israel and Netanyahu do NOT have a divine exception to God's law.

Defend him all you want but God will hold everyone accountable to His Law. See Psalms 1 and 2.

I can't wait to watch the rest of the ceremony. My deepest condolences to Erika and the Kirk family.

- They gave it food, water and shelter.

- They nurtured it.

- They taught it what to do.

- They taught it who to employ.

- They taught it who to target.

- They released it into society.

- They celebrated its global success as it completely devoured thousands who had the audacity to voice a different opinion from its programmed narrative(s).

- They were deeply chagrined when its agents missed several opportunities to extinguish a mortal enemy and, arguably, the most popular People’s President ever.

- They rejoiced when it - and one of its gutless cowardly accomplices - callously snuffed out the life of an innocent, kind, decent, honorable family man in the most dishonorable fashion.

- Now, it has turned on them, chowing down on the career of a singular talentless propped up late night arrogant gasbag, and suddenly it’s become the greatest scourge of our times. After a quick stop at the Torch and Pitchfork retail franchise they hit the streets en masse in relentless pursuit of the brazen apostate that has abruptly escaped their charge.

They’re too jaundiced to see this double standard, too busy chasing their tales to capture the irony and too cold-blooded and self-absorbed to care.

You need to publish a “poetry” book full of your comments from here. Title it “History: Musings and Insights From a Firsthand Witness”. Jeff Childers wrote, "Folks, I don’t want to call anyone out or throw stones here, but anybody on our side criticizing the memorial for being irreligious is not really on our side."

Amen brother. I've been saying for ages there are plenty of bad-faith actors supposedly on our side. You can spot them instantly in their lies. They will change their tune on a dime if they think a new approach might be more influential. They will twist and exaggerate words beyond comprehension. They will put words into other people's mouths that never came anywhere close to what they actually said.

Some of them are just garden variety sociopaths, but I really think some are much darker than that. They are demon possessed and recoil at the mention of Christ's name. Satan is the father of all lies as the Bible tells us, and these people lie so shamelessly and fluidly it almost seems supernatural.

The Bible tells us to constantly exercise discernment, to judge people by their fruits, and to quite literally *hate* evil. We are not supposed to pleasantly smile and quietly ignore these demons in our presence. You will know them by their lies as they revel in them.

I think you need to reread what I quoted from Jeff Childers and what I wrote. It was not in regards to questioning the current explanation, but specifically about people on our side criticizing the memorial.

Grace to you my friend, but when arguing against things that weren't said it *appears* to be exactly what I was talking about above ("They will put words into other people's mouths that never came anywhere close to what they actually said").

I think you are reacting to what others may have said, not me, and hopefully mean this comment in good faith. We all have questions, few of us are satisfied with the official explanation. But please use caution as this type of name-calling (lack of critical thinking) and misdirection (false arguments against things not said) are exactly the tactics of the enemy.

It shows the power of Almighty God.

If it had exited, killing other people, it would have changed the conversation.

If God’s people had repented when the Father had been calling for such a long time, it could be that no one would have had to suffer the death of a martyr.

Instead, Adonai wanted us focused on Charlie’s message of Salvation and hope.

If GOD had not stopped that bullet, it could be that, instead of falling to our knees and repenting, praising and honoring YESHUA, we would be in the beginning of a civil war.

When I realized that the blood of martyrs have marked guillotines, and that Charlie is a martyr, my grief turned into astonishment.

What an HONOR it would be, to be a martyr for the Cause of CHRIST!!!!

I am still sorting through all the eulogies, but two of my personal favorites were Tucker Carlson and Tulsi Gabbard’s because I did not expect either to dwell distinctly on Charlie’s faith, the over arching reason he could go forward with such fervor.

And lastly, Amazing Grace done by bagpipes. Gets me every time, perhaps because it’s used so often for fallen warriors.

That service was amazing and I have never seen one like that in out country before. From the praise and worship to the pastors, friends, co-workers to the several leaders of the free world - all sharing Jesus Christ as Lord for that many hours to that many people worldwide! I couldn’t move. I was worshiping and crying throughout. I am still in awe!

One thing that really struck me is when the crowd sang "Gratitude" together...

So I throw up my hands

And praise You again and again

'Cause all that I have is a hallelujah

Hallelujah

And I know it's not much

But I've nothing else fit for a King

Except for a heart singing hallelujah

Hallelujah

I know this song (as I'm sure many on here do) as we sing it at church occasionally and I regularly listen to Christian radio. But it surprised me that nearly everyone at the service seemed to know it. I think the extent of this current revival is much deeper than we realize.

Hearing the gospel of Jesus Christ being boldly proclaimed throughout Charlie's service was incredible! Surely a harvest of souls came into God's kingdom as a result and I have no doubt Charlie was watching with joy. What the enemy meant for evil and destruction, God turned for His glory.

I can say with certainty that the worship portion alone reached MANY watching.

I used to belong to a church that was known as a “mega church” but was decidedly different than all the rest across the country because they refused to carry unnecessary debt and paid off any building loans (the ONLY debt they allowed) in under four years, so they had 100% of their tithe income available to serve God almost all of the time. They were the only mega church in America debt-free. That says a LOT. I worked in the finance department and prepared the board reports, and I saw not a single questionable penny spent, or a single salary inflated. The leadership was authentically and humbly following God and placing His will ahead of their own desires all the time. The worship portion of that church was identical to Kirk’s memorial, where people chosen to lead the singing also were authentic, not self-absorbed or preoccupied by how they appeared to the congregation, but wholly devoted to worshipping God and elevating Him alone, not themselves, so that everyone saw God and not them, and I saw how just that part of our service led so many people to Christ.

Yesterday when I watched the worship portion I was in tears the entire time, amazed that what I had been blessed to have experience myself in our little city of our country was being broadcast to the ENTIRE world. Satan constantly worked hard to find a way to destroy our church, because like Charlie its effectiveness was an unbelievable threat to our area, and still … the same authentic spirit that it had was able to reach the world yesterday through Charlie’s memorial. 100x more authentic than even what I was shepherded in. They chose well who to lead the worship. If anything, anyone that did not watch should put on the worship portion each morning while starting your day and bathe in the beauty of praising and worshipping the one, true God.

God is excellence. So of course those working for Him for the right reasons in the right way will exude excellence. When praise and worship is “concert quality” that is not a negative in and of itself. It depends on the performers and whether or not you are led to focus on them … or on God. The truly good ones fade into the background so God is in the foreground. That’s an excellence I get behind.

I have tears in my coffee this morning reading about Charlie Kirk's Memorial. I was traveling back from a two week trip to Europe yesterday, so missed the live streams etc. Our trip involved retracing the route of my buddy's dad through WWII, including Normandy, Bastogne (Battle of the Bulge) and the march through the German Ruhr Valley, heart of the Nazi war machine's weapons production. It included many stops at Military Cemeteries. If you think for one minute there is not evil walking this planet, I challenge you to go to one of those and come away thinking otherwise. And for Erika Kirk to have the Christian Faith to forgive her husband's assassin also tells me that our Righteous Lord and Savior is also hard at work to defeat that evil. Erika is a far better human than I. I'm not sure I have that Grace. I'll work on it. The Peace of The Lord be with all our C&C Family.

God offers forgiveness before we repent. He died on the cross for all, including those of us not yet born when he was crucified. We must repent to receive what he has already offered. He's holding it out. It is up to us to take it or reject it.

And just so, we forgive others, for the sake of our own soul. We forgive them as God forgives us, offering it to them. It is up to them to repent and accept what we offer, or not, for their own sake.

We can’t conflate our human forgiveness with God’s forgiveness. Erika specifically mentioned that the answer to hate is love. She has forgiven the killer to spare herself the caustic effects of hate and bitterness.

This does not pardon the killer from suffering the consequence of his actions under a just government.

He must also repent and deal with his Maker personally to have eternal forgiveness.

The Torah makes it clear that only the aggrieved person can forgive. Erika can forgive the hurt caused her, but only Charlie can forgive his murder. Since he is not currently here ....

I love Charlie and have supported TP for years. I hate what happened to him and his family, and will continue to pray and support. I love President Trump and have always voted for him. But JESUS is our ONLY Savior. Keep our eyes on Him. Remember the warning, “peace and safety”….. (1 Thessalonians 5:3). Just saying.

You seem to be concerned we are seeing human players as our savior. I don't see any of that, but you are entitled to your fears. In fact, Frank Turek laid it out pretty clear in his eulogy when he pointed out that all of the accolades weren't because Charlie was such a great guy and willingly faced danger and was so righteous; the message is that Jesus took on humanity and gave His righteousness so that we might live. For me, it was THE moment of the service.

I thought she was more referring to: "For when they say, "Peace and safety!" then sudden destruction comes upon them...and they shall not escape." 1 Thess. 5:3

Given how she carefully qualified her approval of the service, the reference given would seem to apply to DJT stating his wish to bring world peace, before the UN.

Fears? You misunderstand. Concern, yes, but concern is not equal to fear. I would say that concern motivated the Turning Point ministry. Concern for His creation and His Father’s glory motivated Jesus. Concern that I stay focused on Jesus and God’s glory motivates me. My admiration for Charlie and President Trump (and a billion other things) has the potential to distract me, and I don’t want it to. That’s what I mean by “just saying”. Charlie was big on critical thinking, which means, question everything. Apply Truth to EVERYTHING. I agree. Truth wins. God owns, authors, IS Truth. But I appreciate your insight.
