✝️✝️✝️

See how great a love the Father has given to us, that we would be called children of God; and we are. For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not been manifested as yet what we will be. We know that when He is manifested, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is. And everyone who has this hope fixed on Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.

I struggle with whether we are justified in praying for the quick return of Jesus. While sometimes I would like to be free of the endless struggle, it seems that to pray for the final judgement is somehow off. It will come with God’s timing.

I get that, Becky. I think He understands our yearning to be with Him. And you're right, it will happen in His timing. So thankful for the sure and settled hope of His coming and our eternity with Him!

You might consider that throughout scripture, there are more "comings" and "days of the Lord" than just the final judgement. We can pray for judgement upon those who do evil, whether it be the Final Judgement or an intermediate judgement. And we can tell our Father that (like Paul) we "long to be absent from the body and present with Christ" but not if He has things left for us to do here first. In the end, things will all happen at the time He knows is best.
