Roland, FYI some of your replies did not end up in this same comment thread. Maybe you could comment them again under your first comment about the hip replacement?

It's a great comment. A family member just fell and had a hip replacement this week. I felt distrustful as a matter of course with medical interventions. Any other thoughts on hip replacements and joint replacements? I wonder if they are always necessary or helpful, and complications. I had urged this family member to check out a local regenerative joint therapy clinic. I'd be interested to hear more of your experience and thoughts.

My 80 yr old friend had a doc recommend hip replacement. I recommended a 2nd opinion from someone who doesn't earn their living doing hip replacements! She went to a chiropractor. After 3 sessions, no more hip pain -- 1 yr later -- no hip pain.

Yes, if you go to a surgeon, 9 times out of 10 they will recommend surgery. It's the only tool in their toolbox.

Yep...never met a car salesman who said your current car is fine-no need for a new one! 😂

I was in an accident in 2022. Shattered the ball of my femur but the pelvis was just fine. I was 74. I was walking without aid 3 miles within 6 weeks after the half replacement but I’m in excellent health and walked a lot before. I haven’t had any problems since. I was concerned about being in a hospital in 2022 but it was a local small town hospital and I knew personally some of the staff. I’m glad it was there and not one of the giant hospitals around me. My mother fell as she was entering dementia stage and after surgery never walked again. I was very determined to get this fully behind me. But I keep track of what might be happening even now at this point.

Depends on the severity of the break and age of patient for hip replacement. Some patients with a fracture,if not fixed, are wheelchair/bed bound. (CT/MRI tech x40yrs)

That makes sense. It's hard to figure out when there is the surprise urgency of pain and doctors wanting to do the procedure. I just don't know a lot about the dynamics and how the procedure is properly or improperly used.

From a joint surgeon: “I can’t tell you when you need a replacement; you will tell me.” Truth. X-rays and MRIs often do not correlate with the symptomatology.
