A great song. He lost his son, who was in 12 step recovery, but who couldn't go to meetings during lockdown, to a drug overdose. He's in Treme, the HBO series on what happened to New Orleans after Katrina, but my favorite song of his is I'm Thinking of Burning Walmart Down https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jebt9OnHh6A
I’ve loved his music but have a hard time listening to him now after hearing his vitriol on Sirius about not allowing anyone on his tour bus that wasn’t vaxxed etc
I see him as a person who is doing unnatural behavior in order to be popular. I ran into him at Bernstein (six) airport in Austin. We had a small chat and we went our separate ways but his final comment was and I am paraphrasing “... you can find me on Steve Earle.comm”. It seemed inconsistent with his outsider non-mainstream image but I shrugged it off by rationalizing this is a person who is no longer married to a woman who is well respected by most, if not all (-SE), who engaged with Allison. I still listen to him... Stars are flaky.
The first verse of Copperhead Road, by Steve Earle, may become more of a prediction than a recounting of "history":
The revenue man wanted grandad bad
He headed up the holler with everything he had
Was before my time but I've been told
He never come back from Copperhead Road
Yes, Earle is a raging liberal (at least he was a few years back) but that song is one of the best rock songs ever.

I can’t like this but I was upset from beginning of the effect lockdowns would likely have on those in recovery.
Treme is an AMAZING series.
Steve Earle is absolutely awesome... part of that San Antonio sound. He also had a great wife with Allison Moorer of Mobile, AL.

Why do I know the name Allison Moorer? I can't place it... While my memory is still very good, my forgettery keeps getting stronger.
I discovered Earle way before I moved to the San Antonio area, through WXRT in Chicago.
Allison Moorer is a gifted singer, her genre would be “country” yet her recordings are go beyond. Her sister is Shelby Lynne...
Best rock song ever???? Are you serious or f’ing crazy?
I said "one of the best". And yes, it is a masterpiece of storytelling combined with music. I have it my top 25, maybe top 15.
ONE OF. not the
