While I agree with you, it's difficult to explain conceptually. I'm a big fan, but think either permanently or as an interim, the Flat Tax with an exemption for the very poor, would be acceptable.
I'd prefer simply shutting down the IRS and revoking the federal law that set it up. Bold moves like the new Argentine president who has abolished a bunch of national government departments and now has a budget surplus. And! He got inflatioon from 300% down to 11%.

No argument here. I'd shrink the federal government by 90% if it were up to me...starting with the IRS...
