Belief (faith) without action is dead (i.e. non-redemptive). That's from scripture and mirrors well with the concept of "you shall know [whether a person is a true believer and redeemed] by their fruits [i.e. actions]."

So, I think followers of Christ would agree that it's not the good works that earns your salvation, but that true salvation will inevitably drive a believer to good works. Someone not acting in that manner is likely not saved (i.e. never came to redemptive faith in their Savior).

Yes, Thoughtful said what I tried to say about God knowing the heart. With Christ's heart, it is impossible not to do good deeds. If people are not doing them, then I have to wonder if their heart is where their lips are.

Exactly! You expressed what I was about to.

It’s not an either or. The gift of salvation manifests in a changed life which includes service.
