Lord,

Let us not fret because of evildoers, nor be envious toward those who do wrong. Remind us that they will wither quickly like the grass and fade like the green herb. Let us trust in you and do good, to dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness.

May we commit our way to you, Lord, and trust in you. As we are faithful, we believe you will bring forth our righteousness as the light and our judgment as the noonday.

Lord, help us rest in the you and wait patiently for you. Do not let us fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who carries out wicked schemes. Help us cease from anger and forsake wrath. Remind us that fretting leads only to evildoing and evildoers will be punished.

Thank you for your word that reminds us that those who wait for you will inherit the land and delight in abundant prosperity.

Thank you that the salvation of the righteous is from you and that you are our strength in times of trouble. You help us and deliver us. You deliver us from the wicked and save us because we take refuge in you.

‭‭Amen.

Both Psalm 37 as well as 73 need to be read frequently. Both are great reminders that God is at work in our lives and in this world, even when we can't see it. Even when it looks like evil is winning.

Yes, Ellison and Walz should both be arrested. Will they?...doubtful. Honestly, I'm not sure what kind of heinous activity someone in upper management has to commit to actually suffer any meaningful consequences. Murder, maybe...in front of 50 witnesses and caught on a dozen cell phone cameras?? Perhaps several referees eyeballing the act using slow motion instant replay?? I wouldn't place a bet even under those circumstances. Well, I’ve seen this movie: Another inquiry, another investigation, lots of yelling, various displays of embarrassing histrionics, a myriad of dodgy answers, a teflon indictment and reality show contract is waiting in the wings. Can't we skip the circus and go right to the lightning round? Are Gates, Fauci, et al still touring the globe unfettered? Obama? Pelosi? Cue The Muppet Show intro music.

I will take the win that Crockett is out! That shut her putrid mouth real quick. Kicked her arse. Down the drain she goes. Great Day, good times! Ding Dong the witch is dead.

WP William's avatar

James Taliarico is the ultimate White non-supremacist, Christian Anti-Nationalist, Social-gospel Progressive who scolds Traditionalist Christians to stay out of politics and keep their hateful radical extremist faith to themselves even as he seeks a Senate position. He's the Tim Walz kind of Christian who idealizes a Communist Christ and demands a wall of separation for Thee but not for he.

Margot Wooster's avatar

I know nothing about him, other than what I just read, but my first thought was that I don’t see how any TRUE Christian can be a member of the Democrat party.

WP William's avatar

He seems worse than Beto O'Rourke and about as honest. A political climber in the Dem Party with his calm smiley Faith messaging fakery. He's the acceptable christian--you know, like if we had a Commie State-sponsored church overseen by the Bolshevik masters--he'd be the eager archbishop doing the bidding for the Revolution while steering his flock and savagely butchering any who stray. A CoVid 19 Christian, publicly double masked & whispering, distancing, and happy to close down places of worship and pay them to convert to vaxxination centers.

Are Dems sidelining their most outspoken minority candidates via primary as they did their pro-Hamas ones 2 years ago? Yes, also in Colorado the Progressive Dem Machine replaced a Black Denver mayor with one of the slickest white privileged guys ever, and now the Gay Jewish Gov. wants white Mike Bennett to succeed him (or perhaps another Jewish white guy-- our hyper-AG). DEI my eye.

Peter GL's avatar

just ask the Pope. He was OK with Biden receiving communion, despite his stance on abortion, etc

Dena's avatar

Tallarico states that God supports abortion. That humans have the last say of whether to keep life or not, using the Virgin Mary as an example. I know - how does that makes sense? He’s basically putting man above God. He also states that a Jesus is binary. Neither man nor woman or anything in between(!).

WP William's avatar

the mockers label God as the biggest abortionist with all of His miscarriages, deformed and defective embryos, why even unwanted pregnancies and rapes could be stopped if God really cared that much about Life.

Pam's avatar

I agree completely

Mrs Torres's avatar

Talarico went on Rogan and basically said the Bible is pro-abortion and other false teachings to appeal to a wider base. Rogan has mentioned that he stopped drinking and is going to church, but churches are full of false teachers. This worries me more than Crocket. I’m sure she could be smart, but she saw power in what the gaggle of 8, or whatever they call themselves, were doing. Whereas Talarico is ok going on Rogan and late night shows with his “moderate Christian” talk to play nice. A serpent in disguise is still a serpent, just scarier because you never see the true face.

William Bogert's avatar

Yes ma'am. Down in Texas we shoot snakes. Metaphorically of course.

Mrs Torres's avatar

I follow a pastor in Dallas and he spoke about this on his podcast but not the same reach as Rogan, who is in Austin. At first I thought this might be another Beto. I just worry about all the money in TX now, from CA, and moderates and independents that could be fooled with Talarico slick lies. “For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery, they deceive the minds of naive people.” – Romans 16:18

He misquotes the Bible ALL the time

But of course the Democrat establishment would get behind him and throw Jasmine under the bus - they know he has a better chance of amassing support in a red state if he can convince the Christian base he’s a moderate and on their side. Jasmine definitely already failed miserably at that. Since winning is all they care about, they will sacrifice their own and install a phony that can succeed. Let’s just hope Texas has been paying attention, and those who haven’t wake up.

But I’m concerned it might not be that easy. The Sunday after Kirk’s assassination I was in TX helping my son get situated. I was assured most churches in TX were going to be having memorial services to soothe our wounded souls. I could pick any church I was told. So we picked one in South Austin that looked to be aligned with the doctrine of Acts and was a bit larger. While driving there just before arriving a long line was on the right heading to another large church. I wondered if that would have been a better choice. Once at the church we chose I sat there in a pool of tears for an hour, not because of a moving message in support of Charlie, but because of the cold, lifeless, emotionally-empty room around me, and a message trying to console the liberals!!! And slap them on the hand for not being more caring. They needed a wake-up call, not a slap on the hand!

Fast forward to last month when my son informed me he went to that other church after watching a video replay of their service after Charlie died. I think we were meant to swerve over to the right and attend that one and I didn’t follow my gut. He says they were very much leading their flock biblically. ❤️

So the story of two churches a few blocks apart. TX is a toss up if you are near Austin. The congregation I experienced will easily embrace Tallarico. He is just their kind of Christian!

JudyC's avatar

Juju, all us Texans know that the entire city of Austin is a toss up! I live less than an hour away in the next county, which thankfully, is one of the most conservative counties. No one I know goes to Austin any more. It’s been a long standing progressive woke stain on Texas politics for years, not to mention that liberal DA’s and judges have made it a dangerous place to live much less visit!

Fred Richmond's avatar

Finding an orthodox Christian church in Austin is a near-impossibility.

Brenda's avatar

If that is true about Tallarico, he’s in for a very painful eternity. The Bible warns us about those false teachers.

"The 'Bible scholar' who gives sermons on the campaign trail spoke in public, often, for over a decade, in the voice of a distinctly secular technocrat. Then his ambitions pointed toward a statewide election, and he became a thin parody of a deeply confused tent show revivalist."

"Trying on his new Christian character in 2021, Talarico spoke on the floor of the Texas House to denounce that state’s successful effort to ban transgender competitors from girl’s sports."

"This man is strange, and he’s playacting. I don’t read minds, and I have no idea what James Talarico actually believes. But I’m certain (on considerable evidence) that his self-presentation is a calculated performance, and that there was a moment in his life when he decided to switch on the Jesus stuff for the cameras. Maybe he’s playing up some real faith that he used to play down, but there is a moment in his past when he made a choice about public themes that he had not previously made."

"Here’s the thing that sets my teeth on edge: There’s no way there aren’t journalists in Texas who don’t remember that Talarico came up as a secular technocrat who had little or nothing to say about religion, and there’s no way some of the people who are currently pretending to cover him as a Bible scholar weren’t more or less in the room when he decided to switch on the new character. They could just read their own newspapers, for crying out loud, going back less than a decade.

Fake politics needs fake media. The falsehood is deeply layered."

100%. Where are the indictments? Where are the convictions?

PapayaSF's avatar

They will happen before the midterms. As our host has written, federal prosecutions take time: evidence gathered, secret grand juries empaneled. All this talk of fraud, appointing Vance, Oz’s statements, and the rest are not empty talk. Trump is setting the stage and building suspense. There’s also an investigation into ActBlue money laundering.

I see the coming indictments as a certainty, because they’d be a perfect move for Trump. He can expose massive fraud and paint the Democrats as the party that *claims* to be helping the needy, but actually helps scammers and foreigners while lining their own pockets. How could Democrats win the midterms while drowning in that series of scandals? (Election fraud won’t work this time, with too many eyes on the process.)

Tonya's avatar

I wish someone would point out that all this fraud is only possible when people assume that it is the government's responsibility to "take care" of everyone.

I know that yanking away all the financial support at once would cause serious problems, but there should be a plan to gradually decrease the dependence of such a large sector of the population on government funding.

PapayaSF's avatar

My theory is that Trump and his team are thinking big and long-term. The welfare fraud investigations aren’t just about saving money and making Democrats look bad. They’re about creating public support for reforming the entire system.

PuPu Platter's avatar

Wake up. They'll prosecute the poor 3rd world raghead schemers but the real criminals will go free, as they always do.

Critical Thinker's avatar

How about you take a nap until the midterms.....all this winning is obviously overloading your negative circuitry.

plat4life's avatar

In our justice system, you have to be charged, then tried, then sentenced, then serve. All along the way the political machines can sabotage the process. Compromised law enforcement, brought prosecutors, crooked judges. And if someone of import DOES find themselves in a cell, well they get multiple chances to run the scam-ridden process again. If none of that works, then there's always a Presidential pardon. And Bob's your uncle, they're free.

This is the reason judging 'enforcement' by counting prison cells is folly. Better to focus on removal from office (and sometimes power) + lightening their bank accounts. That sting lasts longer.

Just my 2 cents.

The Imaginary Hobgoblin's avatar

I get it, plat. It's a justice system “of a kind.” 😉😁 On that score - since I gave up following this type of news closely - has anybody's bank account been seriously impacted in the negative?

Donna in MO's avatar

I too have given up following too closely, I am 80% focused on local but still pop onto X from time to time and of course read C&C but have quit sucking myself into rabbit holes that just leave me frustrated and discouraged. Just like 'the poor', the corrupt will always be with us. It's just a matter of trying to not let that number get too large.

Talarico is not a “Christian moderate” but a wolf in sheep’s clothing. He said, God is non binary, the Bible endorses abortion especially for trans women, and wants tax payer funding for sexually confused teenagers. A moderate Christian Democrat is the same as a lukewarm pro-abortion apostate. Odds are instead of a bigmouth idiot, Crockett, Texas could have a silent serpent slithering throughout the halls of the US Capitol; seeking whom he may devour.

Jeff C's avatar

Yup, Talarico is a Christian in the same manner that the Episcopalian trans bishop wearing a rainbow vestment is a Christian. That is, Christ commanded us to be "vaguely nice" to everyone and never offend them, rather than the difficult stuff about truth, moral absolutes, ordered love, and kindness towards others.

It's a false gospel teaching that "kindness" means telling people what they want to hear and rolling over like a doormat when others violate our boundaries (personal or political). It's emotional manipulation that cherry-picks two verses, "turn the other cheek" and "judge lest not you be judged", twists them wildly out of context, and creates a false theology that ignores the other 31 thousand verses.

Hopefully this gets called out and he doesn't get away with cloaking himself in Christianity.

Conservative Contrarian's avatar

I have a cousin who is a pastor, I guess that's what they call them, with three adult children. The oldest, a daughter converted to Islam and married a muslim Middle Easterner. Another daughter is in a mixed race relationship and I'm not sure what's up with the son.

It's none of my business what they do but from my vantage they all strike me as very confused people. At least his mother is no longer living, although she might have embraced it too. Things ain't as they used to be.

Jeff C's avatar
2hEdited

In my experience, pastors who truthfully teach the bible, live by it's precepts, and exercise biblical love for their spouse and children, almost always end up having great kids. They may stray for a bit in early adulthood but come back to the truth. In fact I can't think of a single example in my life where that wasn't the case.

The stereotype of the "preacher's daughter" results when the pastor is a moralizing hypocrite who doesn't practice what he preaches. Or he lectures on the law without the love, i.e. not teaching Biblical Christianity but a perversion of what the Bible says.

Steveo's avatar

It may have had. Ithing to do with the "pastor," although many churches and pastors are lost and don't even know what they're preaching. It's 2026 and many are still celebrating pagan holidays like christmas (nimrods birthday) and easter. There's a lot of confusion. Moral confusion, sexual confusion, gender confusion. The author of confusion is of course satan.

Kelly's avatar

So, the daughter being in a mixed-race relationship means what, exactly?

Conservative Contrarian's avatar

I guess it means different things to different people. Knowing the family I suspect it's an effort to demonstrate their idea of compassion. I could be wrong, no matter, my opinion isn't included in how they live; that's as it should be.

Jeff C's avatar
2hEdited

Yup, lots of dynamics here. No doubt virtue signaling about one's "tolerance" plays a role. But there's also spite.

I have an extended family member who deliberately sought out different race guys just to piss off her dad. Now she's a single mom with two kids who don't look anything like her. Much to her chagrin, she's finding successful men aren't interested in marrying into/raising kids that don't look anything like them either.

Off course some of it is just true love and no one is against that. But note that Black men/White women are overwhelmingly shown in TV commercials when that combination only makes up 2% of couples. So why exactly is that? It is certainly not organic and I doubt it's for benevolent purposes.

But the fact that your comment, brought a condescendingly-phrased, passive-aggressive response shows just how indoctrinated people are on this topic. It isn't allowed to be even brought up, and certainly not framed as undesirable.

Cabogirl's avatar

Thank you. Great response to the above.

Iran and Venezuela are totally different. Iran has a 25M all-volunteer paramilitary militia (with estimated 600K ready for immediate call-up) called the Basij which may come out of the woodwork when the bombing ceases. This group was tip of the spear of civilian protester killings so they know what’s up for them if they ‘lose’. The Basiji are ideological and a bit crazy. I think this is why Trump isn’t ruling out boots in the ground. Also, the 80M Persians aren’t going to allow the other 8M to 10M Kurdish Iranians rule over them. Most Persians also, have been conditioned since birth to not like Israel. So, if Mossad helps opposition they need to stay in the shadows. Otherwise the Persian opposition receiving that help run risk of being cast as ‘Jew-lovers’. Persians don’t want to be the Ayatollah’s b*tch, nor do they want to be the same of Israel. Civil war may break out in Iran. Hopefully it doesn’t. Because if it does, get ready for more refugees to the EU.

Did you know how much the Bibles have been altered. Jehovah, God's name should be in it over 7,000 times. The king james was the most obvious. He said it's his version, after banning the Geneva Bible.

Lisa Runquist's avatar

Steveo - i have been studying Biblical Hebrew for several years now and have concluded that there is no good translation.

Tom Wiedemeier's avatar

Lisa - you say there are no good translations. Now what? We can’t know the Word of God unless we know Hebrew and Greek? I asked an unbelieving friend, with your mindset on translations to select a version so we can do a Bible study. He chose a Latin version??? He and others like him aren’t serious about “God hath said”.

Dave aka Geezermann's avatar

The tetragrammaton, YHWH, was substituted with the word "LORD" by the translators. It's easy to re-introduce it. It is pronounced Yahweh. The word jehovah was also a mis-transliteration. The letter J did not exist in the Hebrew. It began to be used in 1524, hence its use in the KJV. The name James is from the Hebrew Yaa'kov, or Jacob.

Juju's avatar

Bingo.

I know God recognizes me calling to him with all the other names, and He knows why we use them, but I came across an interesting and informative blog a couple years ago that looked at what the real name of God is and why we use all the variations that we do. I now LOVE to use Yahweh, or YHWH, knowing THIS is His real name used by no other. There are many kinds of Lord’s, and gods, and saviors, but there is only one YHWH.

Steveo's avatar

They've been altered, not translated. Wheres the book of enoch? It's pronounced yehovah, it was intentionally spelled with a j for english, another intentional mistranslation. He was still a tyrant, a politician who changed the Bible, mostly out of his hatred for the puritans but they've all been altered, with intent.

Every bad thing that has happened to Iran since the end of WW2, the wars, the dictators, the oppression, the invasions, the Mullahs, has all been orchestrated and manipulated by City of London, using their private military force, the U.S.

All because Iran kicked British Petroleum out of Iranian oil fields after WW2. So City of London, the financial headquarters of the Evil, had the U.S. overthrow that Iranian government and gave Iraq everything it needed to invade Iran. Forcing decades of war and oppression onto the Iranian people.

British Petroleum is coming for Iranian oil. And when the Iranians started building weapons, Trump imposed sanctions on them.

And when they persisted Trump bombed them.

Larry Johnson did a good outline titled:

"Iran Does Not Hate Americans… But it Has Legitimate Reasons to Do So"

https://larrycjohnson.substack.com/p/iran-does-not-hate-americans-but?

And Greg Reese explains the ‘Why?’:

In the 1970's, my father worked in the oilfields overseas, and my mother was living in Tehran to be near him when he was on leave. I spent the summer of 1978 in Tehran with my mother. It is one of my most cherished memories. The country was clean, beautiful, and prosperous. The women on the streets looked like they had just come from Paris. Everyone seemed content and happy. Oil money was flowing into the country, and from what I could see, everyone was benefitting. When the Shah was overthrown shortly thereafter, I remember thinking, "What are these people thinking?!". Years later, I was speaking to an Iranian man who had fled to the U.S., and I asked him WHAT they were thinking. He told me the people had made a terrible mistake, and that he had been part of it. He hated the corruption of the Shah's government, and yearned for a more religious and rightious government, but what he got was worse. And now I wonder whether re-instating the Palavi's is a good idea or not.

Critical Thinker's avatar

That is a very shallow read on what's happening right now - although it makes sense in the larger historical perspective of awfulness inflicted on the Iranian people, I don't think "Trump bombed them" captures the current situation at all. This quick, decisive military action is preventing a major, protracted war from occurring....y'know, the very thing that the baddies want to promote and keep fueling. Israel doesn't want this, nor do all the neocon warhawks back home.

That is enough to indicate we are on the path to regional peace and stability for the first time in most of our lifetimes.

Where is God, from Revealing Jesus Substack

The man whispered, “God, speak to me.”

And a meadowlark sang. But the man did not hear.

So the man yelled, “God, speak to me!”

Thunder rolled across the sky. But the man did not listen.

The man looked around and said, “God, let me see you.”

A star shone brightly. But he noticed it not.

And the man shouted, “God, show me a miracle.”

And a life was born. But the man was unaware.

So, the man cried out in despair, “Touch me, God, and let me know that you are here!”

Whereupon God reached down and touched the man.

But the man brushed the butterfly away and walked on.

To find God you only need the right kind of eyes, the right kind of ears, and the right kind of attitude.

A Grateful American

From the moment we wake, it can be easy to get focused on what is wrong in our life and in our world. What we don’t have or how big our problems are. We can get so busy and so stressed we can lose focus on the gift of today. If we’re not careful we can take for granted our family our friends our health or our opportunities. We can easily lose sight of all the good things in our life. We can lose the right perspective.

Being unhappy and miserable with one’s life is a choice we make as is being happy. They say a grateful heart has no room for discouragement. We need to learn to appreciate and be grateful for what we have.

When I was a kid my Uncle Ben used to take me to work with him. He had a great way about him, he was kind, talented, I looked so forward to getting in his van knowing I was learning and at the end of the day I’d get 20 dollars. My Uncle Ben introduced me to many different trades, plumbing, heating, electric, carpentry, painting.

Years went by and I had gone to college, worked a couple of jobs and I then opened my small business. Every now and then my Uncle Ben would come to work with me and help me out, cutting lumber, wiring additions, sometime just picking up. Eventually he had grown old, his back and his body were hurting him and I would go and see him to see how he was doing.

One day I went to his house and was complaining how stressed I was. I couldn’t keep up with all of the jobs and the customers calls and at the same time try to keep my family happy, it seemed no matter how hard I worked it was never enough. I told him I just wanted to get through this part of my life, I was frustrated, it was a very stressful time.

My uncle looked at me and said “I wish I could be in your shoes. I would do anything to get up off this bed, drive to get a coffee and be able to do a hard days work. Life seems to have passed me by, and so quickly. If I could go back to where you are right now I’d give up everything I have”. He said to me “don’t be so willing to wish this time of your life away”. So many times we see the burden, and look past all the blessings in our life.

I left his house that day and realized how lucky I was just to be able to get up out of bed, open my eyes and see, smell the coffee brewing, do a hard days work. This for so many isn’t ordinary at all. Just look at how blessed we all are. We live in the greatest country in the history of the world. We have opportunities here others will never have. We all should be grateful for all that we have and all that we are able to do. God has blessed us all, our burden here in America is not to lose it. It’s all about our perspective of this life.

That day my Uncle Ben gave me new positive outlook on things. I realized how lucky I really was to be able to do my job, have a home and be able to take care of it. Have a wife that cares about me, have family and friends. With all the stresses in life it can be easy to lose focus on all of the blessings God has placed in our lives. J.Goodrich

Jeff, James Talarico is no moderate. He’s a hardcore leftist with a soft voice and also is a stone cold heretic when comes to the Bible. He claims the Bible doesn’t say anything about sodomy, marriage or abortion. The young, strong, Dallas pastor Josh Howerton has been sounding the alarm on him for a while now. I urge people to look up his podcast and see how he refutes everything he says. I pray people don’t fall for his lies. He will be tough to beat because our 2 Republican senate candidates aren’t great and republicans down here are having a hard time getting behind either. I voted for Paxton but they will come after him hard in a general election. Either way we can’t let Texas fall to this guy and we can’t say he’s a moderate.

Don’t get enamored of Talarico. His two favorite words are “Christian nationalism” he learned growing up in a church whose pastor spent the last 40 years preaching progressive beliefs like pro-abortion. Talarico wears his faith on his sleeve while bashing other Christians who disagree with him. Same Dem messages, just a different wrapper.

Ephesians 6:10-18

The Armor of God

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Except... the Christian, moderate, Democrat Wonderbread white guy is not a moderate, and isn't a Christian. He wasn't a Christian throughout his entire life of left-wing/progressive activism - there is no mention of anything related to religion at all - until very very recently.

Nor is he a moderate - he just "sounds" more moderate, which, when there is Jasmine Crockett standing next to you, is not so difficult. Which of his positions, exactly, are actually moderate?

So I wouldn't celebrate just yet - Crockett would have made a far easier opponent to defeat in November.

FlatEarthFlyer's avatar

I’ll bet you at least some of California’s “hospice” agencies are also dabbling in the illicit drug (morphine) trade. I know from personal experience that hospice agencies literally ship morphine directly to the patient’s homes, do not require a signature upon delivery, do not monitor the use of the drug in the home, and do not require the return of the remaining morphine upon the patient’s death (euthanasia). How the heck does a Schedule II drug escape any controls in California by a licensed healthcare agency?

Beth M's avatar

That's crazy. In my comment above yours I was saying how I worked for a home health agency. We had a special container to dispose of unused drugs (esp narcotics and benzos) in. And it was filled with some chemical concoction so once the drugs were in there they weren't coming back out. But this was an office that followed the rules, I'm assuming many do not and have no oversight somehow.

FlatEarthFlyer's avatar

Not in California, at least, and not the agency that handled my dad’s euthanasia. And that was a reputable agency that is still in business and has been for decades.
