The section on the transgender debacle is heartbreaking. I wept as I read about the pure evil these people have unleashed on these innocent children to their destruction. Most of these children have parents that went right along with it, the very people God has given the task to nurture and protect. What a diabolical failure of an enormous magnitude!
How many of us have family members or friends that were suckered into this devilish scheme!? I have a deceived and supposedly Christian niece who has cheered her own 12 year old daughter's "transition", another dear friend who has watched with horror as her six year old grandson is being turned into a girl, and more stories of horror from many in my circle of friends. This poisonous mental illness is everywhere in our culture, and thank God, for this Administration and good judicial rulings that are bringing sanity back in an effort to protect these hapless children.

There is a boy trans to girl in my son’s neighborhood and another neighbor moved their daughters out of the public elementary school a couple years ago because he kept showing his pecker in the girls bathroom. His mother was all in and had her fence painted blue and pink stripes with “Protect trans youth”. The fence was recently stripped of the paint. Who knows what happened to the poor lad with the mentally ill mother. The public school was in the news a few years ago for promoting gender identity nonsense for all the kids starting in kindergarten. The homeowners pay ludicrous property taxes and any sensible parents also pay for private schools or homeschool to avoid the public cesspool. It’s all so sad and infuriating what the progressives, education, media and medical establishment have done.
AS you point out there really is mental illess. The question begged is what a solution might resemble?? Howz about the responsibility for health on every shoulder? Howz about the philosophy of health? Howz about public shaming of false beliefs?

I believe some of these mothers have munchausen syndrome. Take for instance the mother of "Jazz," who was lead by his mother throughout his life from the time he was a young boy. There have been numerous shows about "Jazz." I briefly watched one and heard one of his doctors say as she looked where he used to have male anatomy, "Look at you! You look so good here, you could do porn movies!" I wanted to throw up!! He lost his personhood as a child, all pushed constantly by his mother. He's a big person with a long hair, large middle section, breasts, and a chubby face. He has to dilate the opening through which he does what I do not know. His mother was asking him if he had dilated that day, something they have to do for 20 minutes, 4 to 5 times a day to keep the opening! When he answered her and said, "No!" she told him she would do it for him! That tells you exactly who is running that show and it's not Jazz!
How in the world can any parent think this is the right thing? To give permission to have one's child mutilated is way more than I would ever be able to comprehend. To turn them into something they will never be. No way in hell would I ever have handed my child over to these evil physicians. When they turn 18 it would have been out of my control but I would have never accepted the change nor would I have acknowledged their new identity. I would have still loved them but they would always be whatever gender they were at birth and I would never have called them by another name. I lost a good friend of 40 years because I refused to buy into the insanity. Her mentally ill daughter is now a "man" and still mentally ill. So is my friend. So I guess her change didn't fix her issues. I thought we were told it could. 🤔

It's true. I have a nephew (he is an adult) who started transitioning last year. He has had multiple surgeries and look scary. He is going all the way. His mother ( a social counselor for family issues) has encouraged this transition. His father is just beside himself and his sister stopped speaking to him. Very tragic for the entire family. Please pray for them.
I think it's just the beginning. I'm sure civil lawsuits will pile in and possible criminal suits. I think we're going to need more lawyers in this area as some states have removed the statute of limitations.

We found out our 22 yr old niece (an identical twin) had her breasts removed. Her mother told my husband's cousin, "please, refer as him from now on, "his new name is John, not Joan." We were there when she called. His cousin hung up the phone and looked at us, then told us what she'd been told. Our niece was named after her grandmother. She inherited a very expensive piece of jewelry which she pawned to buy new men's clothing! Her sister is a lesbian... I asked my husband's cousin if she was going to refer to her as "John." She replied, "I will not lie, I don't care what has happened! This is mental illness, it cannot be defined any other way!"
My 24-year-old son has been on this track for a few years now. So much grief to work through. He's gone the route of cutting off any family members who don't "affirm" his identity. As far as I know, hormones only, no surgery. When he revealed his intentions to me, I told him with a lump in my throat and much love and tenderness that I can't address him as "she/her", because I'd be lying to him and myself. I knew I'd be excluded from his life eventually, but this way, if/when he comes to himself, he knows I am here for him.

It continued on to 30 lashes, and finally the King was forced to make a decree that whoever is caught is to receive 40 lashes. The problem with this is 40 lashes is a death sentence. The theft continued until finally it was discovered that it was the Kings own daughter that was the thief.
A question began to ripple throughout the kingdom, what will the King do? Some thought He would forgive her but that would not be just. Some thought He would issue the sentence but how would that be loving? The King sat down and decided the sentence was just, the punishment must fall, so the decree will stand.
One day the entire kingdom was gathered. The Kings daughter was marched out towards the podium in front of all the people. She was bent over the podium and the shirt on her back was ripped open. The executioner stood there with whip in hand. He began to raise the whip to administer the first lash, the King shouted out stop. A silence fell over the crowd. The King strode toward the podium removing His shirt, He bent down and wrapped His body around His daughters, looked over his shoulder and said now hit her. The executioner objected and said but King these lashes are going to fall on you. The King said the sentence must stand, it is just, now hit her.
So 40 lashes fell on the body of the King that protected the body of His daughter and He died in the stead of his daughter.
So what happened in the story, the King was both just because payment of the sin had to be made and the King was the justifier of the ungodly, you see his daughter went free because the King had taken the penalty.
This explains why Jesus needed to die on the Cross. God is just, so payment for sin has to be made. Penalty for sin had to be made but God is love so He made the payment Himself.
For the wages of sin is death but the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord; Romans 6:23.

Serious Narcissistic Personality Disorder is an Attachment Disorder. Due to unresolved trauma in family lines. A parent with NPD could well produce a child claiming transgenderism, because Attachment disorders carry down in family lines.
Transgenderism is another version of Attachment Disorder. Where the Ego/Sense of Self is very weak. The latter may cause self-harm of many types. According to the trends of the day. This is one such type of self-harm.

Good point, Johnny-O. Are you referring to the Polyethylene Glycol( ?) that they have patients drink in large quantities prior to the procedure? It’s so bad for your gut. When my husband did his colonoscopy prep, I had him follow a basic vitamin C flush protocol by Dr.Liz Lipski, melded with the use of smooth move tea, preceded by a clear broth diet for a short period of time. Worked perfectly and he even got compliments on his clean out from the Dr, who had been very negative on this alternative protocol when asked about it before the procedure. Drs need to open their minds sometimes!
I know that is one factor for sure. The actual procedure itself may be harmful as well - and I can't imagine whatever equip is sterilized with is great for your gut microbiome.

Yeah, something turned me off on Epoch Times, maybe it was what you describe. We're all susceptible to being manipulated by fear. Most just succumb. A minority see what's going on and resist. Once you understand they always use fear, it loses its power.
I think common sense would place the baseline diet as paleo. That's the natural human diet, what evolution suited us for, or God, fits either viewpoint. Not that some non-paleo food can't be useful, but given the corruption of "science", how would you know for sure? We know that people thrive on fruit, vegetables, meat, and fish.
"Over-standing" health should be a life long missive. What's more important? Yet most seem to think "if everybody else is consuming junk, and on multiple medications, it must be OK". Groupthink is a trap.
I believe an "upper GI" refers to an esophageal endoscopy into the stomach, not a colonoscopy. Perforated colon is what causes most of the related deaths and severe illnesses.
I'm so sorry. I had a friend end up with a twisted bowel less than a week later. She called the office jist to report it and the secretary said it wasn't caused by them. No investigation, just denial. I'm proud to say I've never had one.
Dave Geezermann, my elderly mother-in-law had a colonoscopy that her doctor insisted she should have. That afternoon after the colonoscopy she was in intense pain. Calling the doctor he just recommended she take an OTC pain medication. Still in intense pain, one of her children took her to the ER. Turns out her colon was perforated by the colonoscopy doctor. She almost died but thankfully they managed to save her.
I’ve had one colonoscopy but never again! Besides the risk of perforation, I learned that they cannot fully sterilize the instrument used in the procedure!
My father had colon cancer in his mid70s. I made the mistake of telling my doctor and I got a colonoscopy early. Had a second one recently “trusting the science” and while I was waiting to go into surgery observed the huge numbers of people going in and out. All day, every day. What did these doctors and nurses do before colonoscopies were required medical care? It was a turning point and I will not be participating in their game anymore being a super healthy 50 year old (unlike my father who had type 2 diabetes for years who never changed his diet and ended up on kidney dialysis and also had multiple heart stents).
Yikes! I had that procedure once, at the urging of my dr, when I was around 50, I believe. I said afterward, never again! That’s been over 20 years ago. The prep is horrible, and they promise you won’t feel any pain, but I did. Then I found out later it’s actually a risky procedure.
yes it is risky. Bowel perforation, infection, chronic flora disruption are all possible. Most go as planned. But every invasive medical procedure is a risk you may never wake from.
I have a few friends who are in good health who have done these because of "family history." What I don't understand is, how does everyone just assume that because someone in their family had a disease, they are automatically more likely to get it as well? I mean, I get it for some things, but for others, it's the parent's lifestyle that is often the reason. A parent who smokes, drinks, is extremely sedentary and eats junk food will have more of a chance of having health issues. And yet, when they take family history, they never ask if the relative who had whatever disease you check on their list had any lifestyle factors that might have influenced that. It just seems like a good way for these doctors to push everyone into having all kinds of screening tests regardless of actual risk. Akin to giving all babies a Hep B shot :(
Familial history is a guideline, and does increase risk in a number of conditions. Sometimes, however one parent's gene contribution may reduce the risk from the other parent. Siblings may not share the risky genes.
We all want our physicians to make decisions based on what is absolutely best for us as individuals. Reality then strikes. To use colonoscopy as an example, it is not hyperbole to say it is a procedure that has spawned an industry that generates a great income, and job security for doctors and staff, but in doing so, yields precancerous lesions in 40% of the studies that can be excised during the encounter. It is the most reliable means of detecting them. Fecal blood tests that are positive for cancer are usually a late stage detection.
Personally, I hate them. I don't like the prep, the risks, or the post-procedural effects. But I get polyps removed at every one I've had. Perhaps I inherited my Uncle's predilection, who died in his 60s from colon cancer. My father never had a colonoscopy, and died at 85 from complications from emphysema and kidney failure. He was a smoker, and a drinker. His bowel was fine. Epigenetic factors are just factors, but they may tip the scale...or not.
The belief that the perfect diet, the perfect attitude, or the right belief system wards off the complexities of our biological engagement with the environment will prove to be incorrect repeatedly. My cousin's husband was a well-muscled robust engineer in his early 40s and was diagnosed with a brain tumor that took him in 6 months. One of my favorite patients was a bee keeper--devoutly Christian who beat back cancer with aggressive treatment, and a year later he came out of remission as the cancer stem cells returned, and he died 3 weeks later. (Now we have metabolic and off label approaches to nail those stem cells, but oncology rarely makes those treatments first line. I have never heard of an oncologist treating cancer inexpensively. )

My point was that without knowing or taking potential other factors into account, there might not be enough information to decide how much importance to assign the genetic/history component.

I said nothing about the perfect attitude, diet, belief system or whatever guaranteeing any health result. I don't believe that at all and never said I did. However, I also believe that acting like family history is of paramount importance, as many of my medical providers have done in the past (and apparently from what my friends and family tell me, their providers have too) is shortsighted and limited. Especially using it to browbeat or scare people into getting certain procedures done, without really addressing the limitations (lack of knowledge as to factors that might have contributed to the diseases in question, or per your examples, not actually knowing which relatives might be more susceptible and why). My experience with doctors is that they only address those limitations to say that even if you don't have a family history, you should still get xyz screening test because genetics are no guarantee. It's always the "better be safe than sorry" argument, but doesn't seem to take into account the risks of the procedures or interventions. It's the (imo) typical of the one-size-fits-all approach of our current medical system that treats people less as individuals and more as statistics and as members of any given group.
Agree RL. My brother was on an every ten year schedule for these scopes. I was on an every 5 year schedule because our dad had polyps. Same parents. Just too sus for me.

This comment has to do with the fabulous stats re: the highest reduction in crime in years if not history. I applaud all of the measures taken by our President since taking office. There is a direct correlation to closing borders, deportation of criminals and gang members, increasing law enforcement and deploying National Guardsmen to crime infested cities. The loonies will contort themselves into pretzels thinking up ways this may have happened rather than credit our President with superior policies that are obviously working. Hey I have a question for literally anyone. These defund the police/get rid of prisons and stop incarceration people do understand the result of that, right ? They understand that crime will go up and innocent citizens will start carrying lethal weapons and use them to protect themselves. They get that, right? And that sometimes the shootouts will kill bystanders or maybe even the original criminals and they will be outraged and want someone (not the fired police of course) to lock them up (not in the no longer existing prisons, of course). But without any due process of law enforcement anymore (of course, because why would you need that if no one is arrest-able and no crime was criminal) how would this chaos be stopped. They know all this, right? So what is their solution?
They know this and want this because those are the conditions to finally convince everyone to give up their 2A. I think it would lead to a civil war first, over the 2A. But they believe the populace will be so beaten down and terrorized by then they will beg for the government to come in and give up certain freedoms.
Trust me. There is no level of disarmament that works. Take away guns, and everyone will use knives. Take away knives and everyone will use their hands. Amputate hands and everyone will learn to kick each other to death. Have they really thought this through??

And to be frank, should be shown to work in real world conditions before dismantling the system we have now. I will grant you, our system is not changing anyone for the better. The part currently being tried (decriminalizing crime for example theft up to $1,000 ) and releasing arrestees back into society has been an utter failure with vitcims everywhere. Community works. I live within the physical boundaries of an Amish community that is a bubble of peace and security. They take care of their own. They are honest to a fault. They deal with healthcare issues that support families who might be otherwise devastated by medical care. They educate their children very well in how to live. They expect self sufficiency and hard work while still working together on community needs (like road grading in winter, house building when needed, mowing the graveyard, cleaning the church house). It’s not a caregiver parental relationship. Everyone participates as an adult! There are no free hand outs however no one is homeless and no one starves. As for crime, it rarely happens BUT if a community member breaks a law, they are expelled and shunned. No exceptions. No amount of social services and handholding will change every criminals trajectory. Consequences are a natural part of life on earth (and in the after life I might add) and a community’s FIRST responsibility is to its innocent members.
Suicidal empathy for the mentally ill murderer, the compulsive thief, the driven rapist will never result in a society that is both safe and at peace with one another.
Before these idealistic proposals are unleashed on our citizenry, start by being honest about what is the plan, prove that the plan works, and engage the rest of us in willing participation. Yes, I do think that humans can live in safe and caring communities, but not in our day and age and society. The Amish do make it work, but like you say, they have their religion to keep them together. And a shared set of values. And they do have consequences for bad behavior.
I do think that restorative justice could be used for some things. I used to be involved in a business downtown, and some punks sprayed graffiti on the wall, so the city arrested them and told us to clean it up.
Why not have them clean it up as their punishment? That makes more sense to me than fining them or putting them in jail, and having the business owner out with a bucket and paint.

The other ideas I can say most likely will not work. For instance, people with violent autistic children who call the cops when they get violent want cops to come, not social workers. And what social worker wants to deal with a violent individual who their own family can't deal with? It takes at least 4 people, at least, 6 is better, to deal with a violent person, without shooting them.
As for dumping homeless, addicted, and drunken people on the medical profession, no thanks. I worked in the ER of my small town for 23 years, and we were used by the police as a drunk tank, and holding area for mental evaluations. I didn't like it as a nurse, with security guards for backup, and I most certainly would never volunteer to go out in the community and deal with a mental health crisis, or violent drunk situation, as a citizen. And interfere with a domestic violence situation? Oh, hell, no! Been there, done that, got no T-shirt, and was downright mad about the whole thing (not the T-shirt, I didn't expect one.)

We DO agree! I have been impressed with the second level of CECOT in El Salvador where criminals who haven’t murdered anyone, thieves , stupid dupes of gangs, etc go for a minimum of 10 years (they get credit off a longer sentence but they are going to be there 10). They are taught a skill, they must work, they do counseling, they attend church, there are some perks they can join a choir or a band, some of them have skills and are tapped to teach like plumbing, etc. but every minute is designed to reshape a psychology to be a productive self disciplined citizen who can succeed once they get out. Lock up never changed anyone. Usually just makes them sneakier and angry. El Salvador is trying a genuine off ramp. I would gladly support my tax dollars being invested in something like that. And I’d volunteer too. Especially since it is clear that that level screens out those who aren’t going to even try to succeed at it. But this is NOT what the radical left is actually suggesting. And that’s why I will not vote for them.

As a natural born skeptic I don't buy the derringer 1 in 125,000 story. For starters, how sure can we be the hammer actually fell on both cartridges during the attempt? I had a very difficult time reading today's post about how people are getting rich on the mutilation of young children being convinced they need to alter their bodies.

There is a boy trans to girl in my son’s neighborhood and another neighbor moved their daughters out of the public elementary school a couple years ago because he kept showing his pecker in the girls bathroom. His mother was all in and had her fence painted blue and pink stripes with “Protect trans youth”. The fence was recently stripped of the paint. Who knows what happened to the poor lad with the mentally ill mother. The public school was in the news a few years ago for promoting gender identity nonsense for all the kids starting in kindergarten. The homeowners pay ludicrous property taxes and any sensible parents also pay for private schools or homeschool to avoid the public cesspool. It’s all so sad and infuriating what the progressives, education, media and medical establishment have done.

I believe some of these mothers have munchausen syndrome. Take for instance the mother of "Jazz," who was lead by his mother throughout his life from the time he was a young boy. There have been numerous shows about "Jazz." I briefly watched one and heard one of his doctors say as she looked where he used to have male anatomy, "Look at you! You look so good here, you could do porn movies!" I wanted to throw up!! He lost his personhood as a child, all pushed constantly by his mother. He's a big person with a long hair, large middle section, breasts, and a chubby face. He has to dilate the opening through which he does what I do not know. His mother was asking him if he had dilated that day, something they have to do for 20 minutes, 4 to 5 times a day to keep the opening! When he answered her and said, "No!" she told him she would do it for him! That tells you exactly who is running that show and it's not Jazz!
How in the world can any parent think this is the right thing? To give permission to have one's child mutilated is way more than I would ever be able to comprehend. To turn them into something they will never be. No way in hell would I ever have handed my child over to these evil physicians. When they turn 18 it would have been out of my control but I would have never accepted the change nor would I have acknowledged their new identity. I would have still loved them but they would always be whatever gender they were at birth and I would never have called them by another name. I lost a good friend of 40 years because I refused to buy into the insanity. Her mentally ill daughter is now a "man" and still mentally ill. So is my friend. It's true. I have a nephew (he is an adult) who started transitioning last year. He has had multiple surgeries and look scary. He is going all the way. His mother ( a social counselor for family issues) has encouraged this transition. His father is just beside himself and his sister stopped speaking to him. Very tragic for the entire family. Please pray for them.

We found out our 22 yr old niece (an identical twin) had her breasts removed. Her mother told my husband's cousin, "please, refer as him from now on, "his new name is John, not Joan." We were there when she called. His cousin hung up the phone and looked at us, then told us what she'd been told. Our niece was named after her grandmother. She inherited a very expensive piece of jewelry which she pawned to buy new men's clothing! Her sister is a lesbian... I asked my husband's cousin if she was going to refer to her as "John." She replied, "I will not lie, I don't care what has happened! This is mental illness, it cannot be defined any other way!"
My 24-year-old son has been on this track for a few years now. So much grief to work through. He's gone the route of cutting off any family members who don't "affirm" his identity. As far as I know, hormones only, no surgery. When he revealed his intentions to me, I told him with a lump in my throat and much love and tenderness that I can't address him as "she/her", because I'd be lying to him and myself. I knew I'd be excluded from his life eventually, but this way, if/when he comes to himself, he knows I am here for him.
Praying for my son and other deceived children who have this lifelong trial to carry.

A question began to ripple throughout the kingdom, what will the King do? Some thought He would forgive her but that would not be just. The executioner objected and said but King these lashes are going to fall on you. The King said the sentence must stand, it is just, now hit her.
So 40 lashes fell on the body of the King that protected the body of His daughter and He died in the stead of his daughter.
So what happened in the story, the King was both just because payment of the sin had to be made and the King was the justifier of the ungodly, you see his daughter went free because the King had taken the penalty.
This explains why Jesus needed to die on the Cross. God is just, so payment for sin has to be made. Penalty for sin had to be made but God is love so He made the payment Himself.
For the wages of sin is death but the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord; Romans 6:23.

Serious Narcissistic Personality Disorder is an Attachment Disorder. Due to unresolved trauma in family lines. A parent with NPD could well produce a child claiming transgenderism, because Attachment disorders carry down in family lines.
Transgenderism is another version of Attachment Disorder. Where the Ego/Sense of Self is very weak. The latter may cause self-harm of many types. According to the trends of the day. This is one such type of self-harm.
Serious Narcissists/Psychopaths will target and project upon vulnerable individuals with weak ego. Which often pushes them to the brink of self-harm.

Besides being a specialist in digestive bowel diseases, he had a new side gig as a gender affirming surgeon. I quickly checked my reproductive organs to make sure they were still intact.
The medical establishment killed my father by a botched colonoscopy.
Another so-called "rare" occurrence. We've known several people killed that way, it's not rare. My wife and I are 75 and 70, never had a colonoscopy, never will. Another example of their good old fear card - "save yourself from colon cancer!!". We just eat pretty well and try to stay healthy. That works better than "health managed by medicine", which isn't actually healthy.

Good point, Johnny-O. Are you referring to the Polyethylene Glycol( ?) that they have patients drink in large quantities prior to the procedure? It’s so bad for your gut. When my husband did his colonoscopy prep, I had him follow a basic vitamin C flush protocol by Dr.Liz Lipski, melded with the use of smooth move tea, preceded by a clear broth diet for a short period of time. Worked perfectly and he even got compliments on his clean out from the Dr, who had been very negative on this alternative protocol when asked about it before the procedure. Drs need to open their minds sometimes!
I know that is one factor for sure. The actual procedure itself may be harmful as well - and I can't imagine whatever equip is sterilized with is great for your gut microbiome.

Yeah, something turned me off on Epoch Times, maybe it was what you describe. We're all susceptible to being manipulated by fear. Most just succumb. A minority see what's going on and resist. Once you understand they always use fear, it loses its power.

I think common sense would place the baseline diet as paleo. That's the natural human diet, what evolution suited us for, or God, fits either viewpoint. I believe an "upper GI" refers to an esophageal endoscopy into the stomach, not a colonoscopy. Perforated colon is what causes most of the related deaths and severe illnesses.
I'm so sorry. I had a friend end up with a twisted bowel less than a week later. She called the office jist to report it and the secretary said it wasn't caused by them. No investigation, just denial. I'm proud to say I've never had one.

Dave Geezermann, my elderly mother-in-law had a colonoscopy that her doctor insisted she should have. That afternoon after the colonoscopy she was in intense pain. Calling the doctor he just recommended she take an OTC pain medication. Still in intense pain, one of her children took her to the ER. Turns out her colon was perforated by the colonoscopy doctor. She almost died but thankfully they managed to save her.
I’ve had one colonoscopy but never again! Besides the risk of perforation, I learned that they cannot fully sterilize the instrument used in the procedure!
I had one seversl years ago. It turned out ok but I'm not going have another!

My father had colon cancer in his mid70s. I made the mistake of telling my doctor and I got a colonoscopy early. Had a second one recently “trusting the science” and while I was waiting to go into surgery observed the huge numbers of people going in and out. All day, every day. What did these doctors and nurses do before colonoscopies were required medical care? It was a turning point and I will not be participating in their game anymore being a super healthy 50 year old (unlike my father who had type 2 diabetes for years who never changed his diet and ended up on kidney dialysis and also had multiple heart stents).

Yikes! I had that procedure once, at the urging of my dr, when I was around 50, I believe. I said afterward, never again! That’s been over 20 years ago. The prep is horrible, and they promise you won’t feel any pain, but I did. Then I found out later it’s actually a risky procedure.
yes it is risky. Bowel perforation, infection, chronic flora disruption are all possible. Most go as planned. But every invasive medical procedure is a risk you may never wake from.

I have a few friends who are in good health who have done these because of "family history." What I don't understand is, how does everyone just assume that because someone in their family had a disease, they are automatically more likely to get it as well? I mean, I get it for some things, but for others, it's the parent's lifestyle that is often the reason. A parent who smokes, drinks, is extremely sedentary and eats junk food will have more of a chance of having health issues. And yet, when they take family history, they never ask if the relative who had whatever disease you check on their list had any lifestyle factors that might have influenced that. It just seems like a good way for these doctors to push everyone into having all kinds of screening tests regardless of actual risk. Akin to giving all babies a Hep B shot :(
Familial history is a guideline, and does increase risk in a number of conditions. Sometimes, however one parent's gene contribution may reduce the risk from the other parent. Siblings may not share the risky genes.
We all want our physicians to make decisions based on what is absolutely best for us as individuals. Reality then strikes. To use colonoscopy as an example, it is not hyperbole to say it is a procedure that has spawned an industry that generates a great income, and job security for doctors and staff, but in doing so, yields precancerous lesions in 40% of the studies that can be excised during the encounter. It is the most reliable means of detecting them. Fecal blood tests that are positive for cancer are usually a late stage detection.
Personally, I hate them. I don't like the prep, the risks, or the post-procedural effects. But I get polyps removed at every one I've had. Perhaps I inherited my Uncle's predilection, who died in his 60s from colon cancer. My father never had a colonoscopy, and died at 85 from complications from emphysema and kidney failure. He was a smoker, and a drinker. His bowel was fine. Epigenetic factors are just factors, but they may tip the scale...or not.
The belief that the perfect diet, the perfect attitude, or the right belief system wards off the complexities of our biological engagement with the environment will prove to be incorrect repeatedly. My cousin's husband was a well-muscled robust engineer in his early 40s and was diagnosed with a brain tumor that took him in 6 months. One of my favorite patients was a bee keeper--devoutly Christian who beat back cancer with aggressive treatment, and a year later he came out of remission as the cancer stem cells returned, and he died 3 weeks later. (Now we have metabolic and off label approaches to nail those stem cells, but oncology rarely makes those treatments first line. I have never heard of an oncologist treating cancer inexpensively. )

Which makes it seem from your response, especially your first paragraph, you didn't actually read what I wrote. I clearly admitted that in some cases, history can be an important factor. My point was that without knowing or taking potential other factors into account, there might not be enough information to decide how much importance to assign the genetic/history component.
I personally do not *want* my physician to "make decisions based on what is absolutely best for us as individuals." That is MY job, to make decisions about my own body. Not my physician's job. I expect a physician to give me as much information as possible, tell me the pros and cons, and leave it up to ME to decide. Not to make the decision *for* me.
I said nothing about the perfect attitude, diet, belief system or whatever guaranteeing any health result. I don't believe that at all and never said I did. However, I also believe that acting like family history is of paramount importance, as many of my medical providers have done in the past (and apparently from what my friends and family tell me, their providers have too) is shortsighted and limited. Especially using it to browbeat or scare people into getting certain procedures done, without really addressing the limitations (lack of knowledge as to factors that might have contributed to the diseases in question, or per your examples, not actually knowing which relatives might be more susceptible and why). My experience with doctors is that they only address those limitations to say that even if you don't have a family history, you should still get xyz screening test because genetics are no guarantee. It's always the "better be safe than sorry" argument, but doesn't seem to take into account the risks of the procedures or interventions. It's the (imo) typical of the one-size-fits-all approach of our current medical system that treats people less as individuals and more as statistics and as members of any given group.

Hey I have a question for literally anyone. These defund the police/get rid of prisons and stop incarceration people do understand the result of that, right ? They understand that crime will go up and innocent citizens will start carrying lethal weapons and use them to protect themselves. They get that, right? And that sometimes the shootouts will kill bystanders or maybe even the original criminals and they will be outraged and want someone (not the fired police of course) to lock them up (not in the no longer existing prisons, of course). But without any due process of law enforcement anymore (of course, because why would you need that if no one is arrest-able and no crime was criminal) how would this chaos be stopped. And to be frank, should be shown to work in real world conditions before dismantling the system we have now. I will grant you, our system is not changing anyone for the better. It merely protects the rest of us to a reasonable extent. The part currently being tried (decriminalizing crime for example theft up to $1,000 ) and releasing arrestees back into society has been an utter failure with vitcims everywhere. Some of them horrific.
Community works. I live within the physical boundaries of an Amish community that is a bubble of peace and security. They take care of their own. They are honest to a fault. They deal with healthcare issues that support families who might be otherwise devastated by medical care. They educate their children very well in how to live. They expect self sufficiency and hard work while still working together on community needs (like road grading in winter, house building when needed, mowing the graveyard, cleaning the church house). It’s not a caregiver parental relationship. Everyone participates as an adult! There are no free hand outs however no one is homeless and no one starves. As for crime, it rarely happens BUT if a community member breaks a law, they are expelled and shunned. No exceptions. No amount of social services and handholding will change every criminals trajectory. Consequences are a natural part of life on earth (and in the after life I might add) and a community’s FIRST responsibility is to its innocent members.

I do think that restorative justice could be used for some things. I used to be involved in a business downtown, and some punks sprayed graffiti on the wall, so the city arrested them and told us to clean it up.
Why not have them clean it up as their punishment? That makes more sense to me than fining them or putting them in jail, and having the business owner out with a bucket and paint.

The other ideas I can say most likely will not work. For instance, people with violent autistic children who call the cops when they get violent want cops to come, not social workers. And what social worker wants to deal with a violent individual who their own family can't deal with? It takes at least 4 people, at least, 6 is better, to deal with a violent person, without shooting them.
As for dumping homeless, addicted, and drunken people on the medical profession, no thanks. I worked in the ER of my small town for 23 years, and we were used by the police as a drunk tank, and holding area for mental evaluations. I didn't like it as a nurse, with security guards for backup, and I most certainly would never volunteer to go out in the community and deal with a mental health crisis, or violent drunk situation, as a citizen. And interfere with a domestic violence situation? Oh, hell, no! Been there, done that, got no T-shirt, and was downright mad about the whole thing (not the T-shirt, I didn't expect one.)

We DO agree! I have been impressed with the second level of CECOT in El Salvador where criminals who haven’t murdered anyone, thieves , stupid dupes of gangs, etc go for a minimum of 10 years (they get credit off a longer sentence but they are going to be there 10). They are taught a skill, they must work, they do counseling, they attend church, there are some perks they can join a choir or a band, some of them have skills and are tapped to teach like plumbing, etc. but every minute is designed to reshape a psychology to be a productive self disciplined citizen who can succeed once they get out. Lock up never changed anyone. Usually just makes them sneakier and angry. El Salvador is trying a genuine off ramp. I would gladly support my tax dollars being invested in something like that. And I’d volunteer too. Especially since it is clear that that level screens out those who aren’t going to even try to succeed at it. But this is NOT what the radical left is actually suggesting. And that’s why I will not vote for them.
