Wow, reading about the USCIS bribery story just hurts my head and my heart. Why are "dual citizens" ever allowed to perform these jobs for our country? And, why are naturalized US citizens allowed to do this? Seems like there should be some jobs that are only allowed to be US citizens from birth. Bizarre that a dual-citizen was ever allowed.
I don't see where it's a case against evolution. The most corrupt rise to the top. The general population not only tolerates it, they reward it. It's always been somewhat that way, but it became worse with the decline of Christianity. That should be clear even to the non-religious. I remember when America changed from valuing goodness to worshipping celebrity, wealth, and power above all. Seemed to turn on a dime about 40 years ago. Hard to bemoan the decline of a society which has lost its moral compass.
I know many dual citizenship people. I agree with your first paragraph. Regarding the second paragraph, while corruption has always been around, over the last forty years I believe that it has increased dramatically and I blame immigrants, used to it as a way of surviving in their previous country, as a large contributor to that rise. 100% correct. You shouldn't be able to take the Oath of Office until you first renounce citizenship to another country. In the military you MUST do that, I know, I was a dual USA/German citizen having been born in Germany while my dad was stationed over there. I could not take the oath until I renounced my German citizenship (it was a no brainer.) But this requires that people do their jobs and not act criminally. The US Gov is over run with criminals.

I wish more countries had an intermediate status in between citizen and non-citizen. Some people keep their citizenship simply to be able to travel easily to their country of origin, because more often than not, they have family and friends there, and it just makes it simpler. India apparently has a status like this, once you become a citizen of another country, you renounce your Indian citizenship, but can get a different status as a former citizen that allows you to travel back to the country without getting a visa or anything like that. Also some countries don't allow you to renounce your citizenship, so by default they have to be dual citizens if they become an American citizen. Judging by past court decisions, it might be considered unequal treatment if some naturalized citizens can get government jobs and others cannot, because of their national origin.

It may depend on when you came here and were naturalized. I have been involved in conversations thirty years ago about people coming here for the wrong reasons. You may have been naturalized decades ago when people came for the right reasons or you may be the exception.
I stay in a household of immigrants, one of which became a citizen for the wrong reasons and who still refuses to learn english. I have to play pantomines with her to communicate. It frosts my hair regarding her situation...to quote the immigration guy who asked a series of yes and no questions, when she finally said no when the answer was yes: "If Trump were still office I would have to fail but Biden is in and they don't care, so, you have passed." She took someone's spot. And now, as someone who has never worked in this country, she gets SSI and Medicare. I know another person whose son says, regarding his mother getting SSI and Medicare, "I can afford to take care of her but, if the government wants to....who am I to refuse..." Frosts my hair. These are only two personal examples. They are here for the wrong reasons....not interested in being Americans....
I feel just the same way - maybe even more strongly - as do the other naturalized citizens I know (admittedly not many). The challenge is in distinguishing one from another, of course. But perhaps what you and Lisa above have decided is that if it's difficult or impossible to distinguish then the better/safer approach is to assume the worst when it comes to issues like this and see people like me as (unfortunate?) collateral damage. It may surprise you, but I actually have some sympathy with that view :-) (I'd hate to lose Harmeet and Jay, though.)

I don’t what changed or when, but when I was a child there was no such thing as dual citizenship. If you became a US citizen you had to renounce any other country. If you emigrated to another country and took citizenship, you had to renounce the US.

The scourge of DEI has reached even the smallest colleges in the country. My friend worked for a very small school on the Oregon Coast, and the school was RELENTLESS about getting Spanish-speaking students to enroll. They didn't care what happened to them after they got accepted, the mere fact these students appeared on the registry was enough to unlock those sweet federal funds the administrators desperately wanted.
It's a good example of how screwing up incentives screws up the whole system. (MAID in Canada is another perfect example.)

This Immigration officer's potential punishment doesn't seem NEARLY enough or adequate to teach a lesson. Why isn't his citizenship being revoked? Why arent supervisor's heads rolling? You know the saying you learn something new everyday, sometimes we learn to accept a truth we already knew.
Everyday we have a choice to believe that either God is in control and good things are going to happen or we can live worried , negative, expecting the worst. Fear and faith have something in common, they both ask us to believe something is going to happen that we cannot see. Fear says business is slow I’m going to go under, faith says my customer will sign the contract, business will pick up. Fear says this pain in my back is the same thing my mother died of, faith says that pain is not permanent it’s only temporary. Fear says you’ve been through so much you’re never going to be happy again, faith says my best days are out in front of me.
Whatever you let in your mind is what’s going to take root. If you dwell on that fear all day you’re giving it a right to become a reality. That’s what Job said, “the thing I feared came upon me”. Fear is using your faith in the wrong direction. Faith can work in the negative just as well as it will in the positive.
I heard a story about a lady. Practically every night for years and years she thought she heard a burglar downstairs in her kitchen. She would make her husband get up at least once a week and go make sure everything was ok. One night she thought she heard some noise, honey wake up somebodies down in our kitchen. He got up so routinely like he had done a thousand times before. This time when he walked downstairs he was staring down the barrel of a gun. His eyes got so big. The burglar said don’t make a sound just give me all of your valuables. He gathered up the valuables gave them to the burglar. The burglar turned around and was about to run off, the husband said wait a minute you can’t go yet, you have to come up and meet my wife, she’s been expecting you for 30 years.
The moral of the story is don’t go through life expecting disappointments, bad breaks, disasters, that’s putting faith in the fear that allows it to become a reality.

First, there should be no dual citizenship. You pledge allegiance to the country or you pledge it to another.
That being said,I know plenty of American citizens equally corrupt.

Yes, I have often wondered when going through customs at our airports when it seems regular Americans are the unicorns. Most all of them look like they just got here. It makes you wonder which country you landed in, need to look at your ticket again.
Why do we have so many in government service, all of the fraud we are seeing have names we cannot pronounce.

Yes and our country does not prioritize language learning very much. The lame attempts at language classes in most high schools are laughable.
Yeah. No! This is why the USA is now the tower of babel. And it was intentional act to divide. If you can't speak the same language, you cant accomplish anything, and you certainly cannot assimilate. If you want to be an American Citizen you need to speak English. Period. Full Stop.
But instead we have regulations, forms, etc in about 90 different languages. What country would do such a thing, except one who wants to destroy itself internally.

The scourge of DEI has reached even the smallest colleges in the country. My friend worked for a very small school on the Oregon Coast, and the school was RELENTLESS about getting Spanish-speaking students to enroll. They didn't care what happened to them after they got accepted, the mere fact these students appeared on the registry was enough to unlock those sweet federal funds the administrators desperately wanted.
It's a good example of how screwing up incentives screws up the whole system. (MAID in Canada is another perfect example.)

Exactly. As an interesting aside, I went looking for the DEI training sessions that the college made the staff attend. These training sessions are SUPPOSED to be public, and I could find all of them EXCEPT the DEI training sessions.

I lost count of how many Chinese students I had to carry on my back while editing group papers. In other words, if I wanted a good grade, I had to write, edit and research the entire paper!
“Group projects” are rarely truly done equally by the group.
Yes, but having to worry about basic grammar gets old fast! And then the way they never keep to the right in halls and stairwells or walk 3 abreast on the stairs, is maddening when one has a limited amount of time to move between classes! No respect for our customs, and no attempt at basic courtesy does not make attending Uni with these students appealing at all. I knew I was being used, just as all our Tech and Auto companies get used and abused.
My kids would scream when they would have a group project. They would always have to carry the load. I told them every single time- this is what socialism is.

Only the children of the rich and well-connected -i.e. made guys- can afford to go overseas to study. I taught for a couple of years in the PRC, and could tell the difference between that sort and the kids who had to make their own opportunities.

Small college former professor here and my small college mined the poor black population of Philadelphia and D.C. for students and who never graduated.
This Immigration officer's potential punishment doesn't seem NEARLY enough or adequate to teach a lesson. Why isn't his citizenship being revoked? Why arent supervisor's heads rolling? And why isn't every single green card he issued being revoked and the individuals booted out of our country immediately? THAT seems like just the starting point!

Fear or Faith
You know the saying you learn something new everyday, sometimes we learn to accept a truth we already knew.
Everyday we have a choice to believe that either God is in control and good things are going to happen or we can live worried , negative, expecting the worst. Fear and faith have something in common, they both ask us to believe something is going to happen that we cannot see. Fear says business is slow I’m going to go under, faith says my customer will sign the contract, business will pick up. Fear says this pain in my back is the same thing my mother died of, faith says that pain is not permanent it’s only temporary. Fear says you’ve been through so much you’re never going to be happy again, faith says my best days are out in front of me.
Whatever you let in your mind is what’s going to take root. If you dwell on that fear all day you’re giving it a right to become a reality. That’s what Job said, “the thing I feared came upon me”. Fear is using your faith in the wrong direction. Faith can work in the negative just as well as it will in the positive.
I heard a story about a lady. Practically every night for years and years she thought she heard a burglar downstairs in her kitchen. She would make her husband get up at least once a week and go make sure everything was ok. One night she thought she heard some noise, honey wake up somebodies down in our kitchen. He got up so routinely like he had done a thousand times before. This time when he walked downstairs he was staring down the barrel of a gun. His eyes got so big. The burglar said don’t make a sound just give me all of your valuables. He gathered up the valuables gave them to the burglar. The burglar turned around and was about to run off, the husband said wait a minute you can’t go yet, you have to come up and meet my wife, she’s been expecting you for 30 years.
The moral of the story is don’t go through life expecting disappointments, bad breaks, disasters, that’s putting faith in the fear that allows it to become a reality.
Your mind is the target of the enemy. If he can control your mind he can control your whole life. We have to stay disciplined in our thought life. Guard your mind. Learn to see faith and not fear, God is much stronger than fear. We just have to be willing to always see the positive and block out the negative.

Wow! I needed to read this today, James! I am not a person prone to fear or anxiety. I trust in Jesus. But last night the adversary got into my mind. My husband was driving 2 hours to a destination this morning and last night I woke up at 2 am and was fraught with anxiety about his trip. I just kept praying for his safety until I fell asleep. Not doing that again! Jesus I trust in you! Your will be done! Thank you for all my blessings!

The manner in which Ganiyu snagged and processed claims should produce a pattern or "fingerprint" of suspicious activity that can now be analyzed throughout the system. It should have been very easy to spot such anomalies. Now, there is no excuse. Let's hope the lessons have been learned.

I think they need to start with who hired and cleared him for the job. Sure seems likely there were others in on this to have gotten away with it for SIX YEARS!! Those who allowed him to work there may need to be investigated and prosecuted as well.

For many years, the Government has lagged behind in technology upgrades. The average 12 year-old has more computing power than many Gov't entities! This is how the fraudsters and their plants have been able to navigate freely through our Federal and State systems. Of course they had the help of insiders in Congress and the Presidency. This is why they hated DOGE!
Once Elon and the boys got to work upgrading systems, writing critical code to flush out the corrupt channels, and focused on connecting the entities to create seamless cross-referencing abilities and cyber security measures, all the fraud was trackable. Add a few crucial appointee's to unlock some info, and we begin to see what crawls out!

My stand on racism is that if you favor someone based on race, you are UN-favoring someone else based on race.
College entrance should all be based on merit. Period.
Job hiring should be based on merit. Period.
We are all human. A great place to start.
I think before one looks at race and ability, they should look at citizenship status. I really don’t think race should be considered at all. In America, the test should be: are you a citizen? Are you the most competent? Then let the chips fall where they may.

It’s also good to support underprivileged who merit it but cannot afford it.
Perhaps this support should occur prior to college entrance exams - to get a student up to speed.
And honestly, not all should attend college. Not all should need to.
And that category can include people of any race! It always irritates me when "minority" children of affluent families get favored status over white kids from poor families. It makes no sense. Those minority kids are not disadvantaged in any way, they have far more privilege than the poor rural or inner city white kid!
