It leans a little left - this month's feature "When I feel most American" included submissions about "paying income taxes", "legalizing same sex marriage" and a trip to Africa where the people there were all enamored of Barack Obama. Although there were some good ones too.
Ex texan here without a single regret I moved 34years ago to Alaska, no traffic, no gangs, no immigrants creating havoc. 62degrees sunny with a breeze. I detested paying for electricity just to have airconditioning only to stay indoors. Never again will I run from the front door to my car only to sit in a 125degrees to get groceries struggling to breathe the whole time. Zero humidity here, I am always moving always breathing deeply. Have now outlived my parents by 20 years yippee. April thru October we get so much done, the snowtime is for snowmachining, crosscountry ski and downhill. Yes more inside projects in winter beside a cozy fire or woodstove in a workshop, but never a day where a coat and boots can't get you outdoors whether stacking wood or shoveling a path or warming the truck for a ride to town. I will never ever pay someone else just to breathe and think (reconditioned air at that!) in inescapable heat.
I used to love going to St Louis when it was still Purina Mills before the Commies at the Butter Bitch bought us and ruined Purina Mills like everything Commies touch. Nothing is more Communistic than a Co-Op like Land oโ Looserโs.
Iโm praying for you! Heat no fun, thatโs for sure. We walk in the mornings, when itโs only low 80โs, but the humidity is just as high then as the temperature. Literally. After a 30-minute walk even in the shade, sweat pouring like crazy. But, praise the LORD, in Oklahoma we have excellent air conditioning and we can turn it down as low as we want. God be with you.
The fact that all these coastal blue state areas have such wonderful weather is just so frustrating! They ruin a good thing. Iโm on the west coast, it was 80 today and 50% humidity, which is actually a little on the high side of our normal range.

Speaking of staying safe, I've been watching some of the very exciting World Cup soccer games North America is hosting. (And the US team is looking very strong!) The level of security at these games is amazing both in terms of personnel and electronic systems. It occurred to me that Trump should hire the Cup's head of security to take over the Secret Service. Turn on a game and you'll see what I mean.
Iโm surprised more attention isnโt being given to the fantastic defense against Bosnia while playing the second half with one less player who was our best scorer. Rather then let that rattle them they rose to the challenge beautifully. Anyone that doesnโt understand soccer needs to know how dramatically one less man changes the dynamic of the game and most of it will be spent defending your goal. Also, it seemed as if the hand of angels prevented three goals Bosnia should have had while the U.S. was playing with less players. Each attempt mysteriously missed, like the bad aim of a novice player. But they are not novices! Of course plenty of attention has been given to the US penalty kick that was perfection to every physics specialist on the planet. Chefโs kiss. Truly a remarkable game to watch.
My wife and I never followed soccer, but after watching a few, we can watch ANY match and sympathize with the struggles of each team, and have learned not to assume it's "safe" to leave the room for "just a second"... So grateful to so many for visiting our country, and for being gracious.
At least they'll start with 11 again. I hadn't realized they had to finish the match down a man, 10 on 11.
And how about that Cape Verde team? And Ghana's? As I said, we are developing a real appreciation for just how hard it is--even to KEEP the ball for a few seconds!--and why nations love their players!

Keep that ankle up and iced. Lather on some organic castor oil with DMSO and pull on a thick sock, then ice! I bought an attachment for my electric ice chest they gave me after my knee replacements. You add ice then water to fill, attach the hose to the cooler then to the attachment you wrap your injured area in. Plug it in and you'll have an excellent supply of cold ice water bathing your injury for an hour! My brother in law kept my ice chest full of fresh ice so I literally had it on any time I was in the recliner or bed! Very little swelling.

Humidity makes all the difference. Right now where I live in Oklahoma, itโs ONLY 91 degrees, but the humidity is 61%
Ex texan here without a single regret I moved 34years ago to Alaska, no traffic, no gangs, no immigrants creating havoc. 62degrees sunny with a breeze. I detested paying for electricity just to have airconditioning only to stay indoors. Never again will I run from the front door to my car only to sit in a 125degrees to get groceries struggling to breathe the whole time. Zero humidity here, I am always moving always breathing deeply. Have now outlived my parents by 20 years yippee. April thru October we get so much done, the snowtime is for snowmachining, crosscountry ski and downhill. Yes more inside projects in winter beside a cozy fire or woodstove in a workshop, but never a day where a coat and boots can't get you outdoors whether stacking wood or shoveling a path or warming the truck for a ride to town. I will never ever pay someone else just to breathe and think (reconditioned air at that!) in inescapable heat.

Iโm praying for you! Heat no fun, thatโs for sure. We walk in the mornings, when itโs only low 80โs, but the humidity is just as high then as the temperature. Literally. After a 30-minute walk even in the shade, sweat pouring like crazy. But, praise the LORD, in Oklahoma we have excellent air conditioning and we can turn it down as low as we want. God be with you.

For everyone out celebrating our countryโs birthday, stay safe. There will be all variety of crazies out there who just canโt deal with your happiness, traditional family or love for your country.
Speaking of staying safe, I've been watching some of the very exciting World Cup soccer games North America is hosting. (And the US team is looking very strong!) The level of security at these games is amazing both in terms of personnel and electronic systems. It occurred to me that Trump should hire the Cup's head of security to take over the Secret Service. Turn on a game and you'll see what I mean.
Iโm surprised more attention isnโt being given to the fantastic defense against Bosnia while playing the second half with one less player who was our best scorer. Rather then let that rattle them they rose to the challenge beautifully. Anyone that doesnโt understand soccer needs to know how dramatically one less man changes the dynamic of the game and most of it will be spent defending your goal. Also, it seemed as if the hand of angels prevented three goals Bosnia should have had while the U.S. was playing with less players. Each attempt mysteriously missed, like the bad aim of a novice player. But they are not novices! Of course plenty of attention has been given to the US penalty kick that was perfection to every physics specialist on the planet. Chefโs kiss. Truly a remarkable game to watch.
My wife and I never followed soccer, but after watching a few, we can watch ANY match and sympathize with the struggles of each team, and have learned not to assume it's "safe" to leave the room for "just a second"... So grateful to so many for visiting our country, and for being gracious.
The player that got the red card was Balogun, one of our best. He will be out for the match with Belgium. Our guys will have to bring it! ๐๐ป

Keep that ankle up and iced. Lather on some organic castor oil with DMSO and pull on a thick sock, then ice! I bought an attachment for my electric ice chest they gave me after my knee replacements. You add ice then water to fill, attach the hose to the cooler then to the attachment you wrap your injured area in. Plug it in and you'll have an excellent supply of cold ice water bathing your injury for an hour! My brother in law kept my ice chest full of fresh ice so I literally had it on any time I was in the recliner or bed! Very little swelling.
