Yes he could. His was a great mind and so was CS Lewis who was Tolkien's protege. Lewis also foresaw these powers as depicted in his Space Trilogy. My favorite has to be his "The Screwtape Letters".

Repeating an old "Humor in Uniform" story from Readers Digest, a young military wife stationed in NM asked an elderly neighbor native how she managed to keep all the dust from seeping into the house. The neighbor replied, "Honey, that's not 'dust'; that's 'enchantment!'" Speaking of staying safe, I've been watching some of the very exciting World Cup soccer games North America is hosting. (And the US team is looking very strong!) The level of security at these games is amazing both in terms of personnel and electronic systems. It occurred to me that Trump should hire the Cup's head of security to take over the Secret Service. Turn on a game and you'll see what I mean.

Iโ€™m surprised more attention isnโ€™t being given to the fantastic defense against Bosnia while playing the second half with one less player who was our best scorer. Rather then let that rattle them they rose to the challenge beautifully. Anyone that doesnโ€™t understand soccer needs to know how dramatically one less man changes the dynamic of the game and most of it will be spent defending your goal. Also, it seemed as if the hand of angels prevented three goals Bosnia should have had while the U.S. was playing with less players. Each attempt mysteriously missed, like the bad aim of a novice player. But they are not novices! Of course plenty of attention has been given to the US penalty kick that was perfection to every physics specialist on the planet. Chefโ€™s kiss. Truly a remarkable game to watch.

My wife and I never followed soccer, but after watching a few, we can watch ANY match and sympathize with the struggles of each team, and have learned not to assume it's "safe" to leave the room for "just a second"... So grateful to so many for visiting our country, and for being gracious.

Just had another thought: think of all the large crowds gathered for the World Cup and how big the ones were celebrating Americaโ€™s win in multiple cities/states. The volume was just massive!! It was ALL organic. Nobody was paid to participate. Now imagine the professional leftist protestors and all their rallies. I bet some are sobering up when they witness the huge numbers of us they will face if they push us too far. We definitely outnumber them.

Also, we live in GA and, along with masses of Georgians who volunteered as poll watchers and poll workers during the 2020 election, are THRILLED that records are being reviewed and finally taken seriously. Piles of complaints were submitted during 2020 including regarding the State Farm arena, ballot box stuffing (2000 Mules), blacked out windows at polls, broken election machines, QR codes, audits that never occurred, etc. All should be glad to have transparency and let the truth speak for itself.

Yikes! Here in tropical Florida, I risked heat stroke last evening trying to deal minimally with the jungle my backyard has become. Long story of a disaster. Mulch does not prevent or slow down weeds. Iโ€™m not far from the St. Johnโ€™s River and nature takes every opportunity to revert to the wild.

So sorry about the broken ankle and I hope you have a speedy recovery.

The key is 3 to 6 in of mulch. Six is better. Mulching allows you to pull The few weeds that come up easily. That's been my experience.

Fact. 4โ€ thick is the minimum. Anything less will allow weeds to come through. We should know, 20 years of needing 25-34 yards of mulch for how many beds we have and trying to โ€œget byโ€ with a dusting the years we couldnโ€™t afford the full amount and tried to make 15-20 yards stretch. It canโ€™t. Last spring was the first year I could afford to put down 4โ€ and this spring there arenโ€™t as many weeds coming through.

I wish we could afford the 6โ€. But this yard has way too many mulch beds.

Better yet, layers of wet newspaper or cardboard under the mulch. It will hold the weeds at bay for a full season. 40+ years of Florida experience, now starting all over in the red clay of SC!

Getting newspaper used to be easy. Sometimes I just go to Home Depot and buy rolls of brown painter's paper. That way I don't lose half the day reading the papers!

I'm glad the plastic worked for you. I like the cardboard method better because the worms can get up and poop around your vegetables and make them even healthier. Plus it lets the roots go down deeper.

I'm in Arizona. And you can get free wood chips from the transfer yard/ dump. They will even load it in the back of your truck.

In cities you can sign up for chip drop. Where tree trimmers that are also signed up to chipdrop. They are in your neighborhood they will dump a load of wood chips on your driveway/yard. Free but if you if you paid 20 bucks you get the chips there faster. A lot more economical than buying mulch by the bag.

In one really bad spot (previous owners did not weed everโ€ฆ) - we did a lasagna gardenโ€ฆ.putting down brown packing paper and thin cardboard first over the weedsโ€ฆ.then nice layer of mulch. Working great!

The Biden administration worked overtime to destroy America and American lives; to cement Communism in place of The Constitution and Bill of Rights our Founding Fathers constructed The United States upon... and I have to admit, at times, their atrocities were difficult to bear... However; the Trump Administration has awakened the caged and beaten down lion... and America is back... Praise God!!!
