How many conservative-speaking democrats have won their elections? Plenty. He says the things logical-thinking people want to hear. We see how Dems back Dems and vote 100% in line no matter the subject matter. The Dems would rule him and he would have to bend. I see him as an honest appearing wolf in sheep’s clothing.
I also heard him say some things about gun control, also a problem for me. I WOULD LOVE for someone to talk about fixing mental health in the country. This was dismantled years ago, we have a facility by us that was full, took up a whole city block and was emptied! Where did those people go? It’s a huge problem but one that shouldn’t just be cured with drugs.
I am a retired Mental Health casemanager. Mental illness is a problem that is of course very complex and tragic. The "deinstitutionalization movement" had its pros and cons in relation to honoring basic human rights for individuals diagnosed with mental illness. Government funded mental hospitals are extremely expensive, but community programs that have attempted to replace these hospitals are very under funded. From my experience, I feel these community programs often inadequate in meeting the needs of people with serious mental illness. This leads me to think about the huge problem of the homeless. No easy answers.
I agree that mental health is a problem. I grew up with a facility in my back yard of the same size that is being used for other purposes today. We need more like it. But I think single issue voting is dangerous especially when voting for POTUS. Can’t we leave that issue at the state level? And, don’t get me started on gun control.
