I always saw the glass as not only completely full, but overflowing. The bottom "half" was filled with water; the top "half" was filled with air to the point of overflow, merging with all the other air in the room and beyond. Mind of a child? Of a resident of the cosmos? I'm not sure of anything except I've always been a misfit, preferring to keep the oddness close. (Thus, Heterodox Introvert. 😉)
