There are bulkheads in a boat of that size, so no one drain plug would work, and there likely aren’t plugs in a hull like that anyway. I own a 40m sailboat and this one has us freaked out a little!

So, aren't sailboats with keels designed to right themselves? Or what? Or have to be broken up to go to the bottom?

Yes! Which is why we’re keeping an eye on this investigation…

So weird! There was some speculation about all the doors and hatches being open since it was hot, which would have allowed it to take on water quickly if it were blown over.. Only have experience on small fishing/sport boats in Midwestern lakes so I have no idea if that makes sense or not.

Those guys would have had the A/C on for sure. The generators run 24/7 and no way are those guys sleeping hot. Even on much smaller catamarans you’ll run the A/C at night. This is just a huge vessel to go down so fast. (You can take a look at my instagram to get an idea if you want. Bayesian is bigger, and has a bigger beam, but I have a hard time thinking Abide could go down so fast.)
