I lived in a pet friendly high rise for a while. I had my Pug with me on the elevator. As the doors opened, this young girl saw him and literally started screaming her head off. I looked at her.....my Pug just sat there. I asked her what her problem was. The elevator doors closed.

Yes, I used to have a friend who is Muslim. At that time I did not know they did not like dogs. He came to the house to study (this was in college) and when he saw my Lab, he backed up. She greeted him wagging her tail and walked over to him and he kicked her so hard she yelped. Well, I went ballistic and started yelling and punching him. I was in a rage. I told that POS to never come near me again and as he ran to his car, I kicked it so hard I left a dent. No one ever hurts my pets, never!

Just the other day Grok told me Tyler Robinson was apprehended by the chicken coop, and that Dan Bongino never worked at the FBI. When called out, it quickly recanted and explained how it erred. I said no excuses, you are lame. But still useful, just remember it's often wrong even on basic, easily verifiable stuff.

Was leaving Newport after a long holiday weekend couple years ago. On the freeway with wife/young son and was literally stopped by a group of several hundred motorcyclists who essentially took it over. We had motorcycles in front, on the side, behind, all automobiles were essentially stopped or slowed to 5-10 mph. Simply for this "gang" to enjoy the freeway for several miles. Most unbelievable thing I've experienced in our 1st world country. Took 45 minutes for them to stop having their fun. No highway patrol, no sheriffs, no law enforcement at all. A 4 lane freeway taken over. CA is a joke.
I don't see Starbucks moving to TN as a win. Keep them far, far away. The relocated work force will vote 100% blue. As a corporation with clout they'll influence local and state politics. Welcoming them is selling your soul for cold, hard cash.
We've been looking at East Tennessee. I still think TN is a safer bet that north GA or western NC, politically. We like that southern Appalachian area.
We know great conservatives in north GA and western NC! And lots of them! Asheville is done ruined! But there are beautiful areas in the mountains that are predominately conservative and will likely and hopefully stay that way! The north Georgia cities/towns/hollows have many conservatives to keep things smooth. We have lots of family there and they have no problem keeping the blue folks at arms length.

This morning we learned that the Trump DOJ has “quietly” dropped ALL the Biden “Autopen” cases because there is no case law? Really, come on can’t they come up with a better excuse? Now you are the attorney but, as a layman who has witnessed numerous “novel” twisting of existing laws into silly putty by Jack Smith and others I find this defense preposterous. The fact that the is no case law regarding this malfeasance is key to proving that his is unconstitutional.
Fact: The constitution expressly provides that the President alone has the power of the presidential pardon.
Fact: There is no provision for this authority and power to be delegated to anyone or any machine. (Hence there is NO CASE LAW because this has never been done before)
Caveat: It is my understanding that Barack Obama used the autopen to sign legislation, including an extension of the Patriot Act while he was traveling in Europe. This marked the first time a president officially used an autopen to sign a bill into law. Which really questions if any of the legislation that he signed by auto pen is legitimate. Additionally, since NO one has ever used the auto pen for pardons it is ripe for POTUS to rule on the legality of using the auto pen for any official legislation or pardons.
The fact that the autopen is used for correspondence does not give it any sanction for delegating or usurping the Presidents required input to actually sign the pardon.
Fact: While normally “Intent” is typically difficult to determine, Sleepy Joe served up his intent to us on a silver platter. As a loving father Joe INTENDED to Pardon Hunter so what did he do? President Biden SIGNED Hunter’s Pardon himself as outlined in the constitution to avoid any issue regarding the legality of the Hunter’s pardon. If president Biden trusted the validity of his use of the autopen then he would have had the autopen sign Hunter’s pardon as he “allowed” with all the other pardons that lack any paperwork to validate why a pardon was requested, considered, and finally granted.
Fact: With these above fact there is NO EXCUSE for the DOJ not to pursue prosecution of all autopen pardons as well as any legislation that was not signed by president Obama as well. This is truly a clear cut violation of the constitutional powers bestowed upon the President. It is incumbent upon the Biden administration to defend the personal signature of Hunter’s pardon by President Biden and why this is the ONLY pardon signed by him. The defense that President Obama set the precedence to use the autopen to sign the extension of the Patriot Act should be invalidated along with any other legislation that he signed because he had no reason that would prevent him from signing a document even when traveling in Europe. A White House currier could have easily been dispateched to fly over to Europe to bring the legislation over for his signature and then return it to Washington for formal processing.
If this lame DOJ judgement is allowed to stand then they are proving that President Biden and also President Obama are above the law was they operated outside the confines of the powers delegated to them under the Constitution.

If I were arguing in defense of the autopen's use, I'd argue that it's no less a reasonable extrapolation using then-unknown technological means as publishing documents on the internet rather than printing them out on dead tree is.
I agree that the Constitution does not authorize the President to *delegate* his signature authority (except under the "temporary disability" provisions in Amendment 25, Section 3).
But I believe it would be very hard to make out a case based solely on the use of the autopen.
Now...if you could prove that some or all of the autopenned docs were signed without the President's knowledge (let alone consent)...different story.
But that also would be no easy task. Probably the only way would be to get one of the conspirators to spill the beans.

As I mentioned I am not but, I rely upon Thomas Jefferson’s adage that if a common man can’t decipher what is intended by our government in writing while jogging then it is not worth a damn. Now we know that we have relied upon our legislators to govern the heck out of us the we really only need the 10 commandments along with moral people and judges to preside over disputes. However, as you noted times and technology change but I remind you that human interests and impulses rarely do. In this case the human impulses of the previous commander in chief gave away his intentions, interests and lack of involvement in these autopen pardons. For some spice I add another layer of proof that unfortunately will have plausible deniability by those in charge to protect their privileged oversight of things normally thought to be private even in the most secure locations in our government offices.
Ao yes the constitution is silent but, I would argue that this silence is due to the fact that our Constitution was fabricated upon British Common and Tort Law that in order to have a “contract” recognized by parties not present at the consumption of such that it implied simply that written declaration would be appropriate means to memorialize the pardon. And since a contract in order to be legal needs to be signed, the president signed it.
A contra argument to the adoption of said “new technology” regardless of transmission other than voice or print from our founding to now include electronic transmission over telegraph, radio, telephone, television, and now the internet all legally binding contracts are memorialized in a written document signed by those to be bound by such contract. Yes it may be “printed” on an electronic tablet rather than a dead tree but, still would require a free hand signature to legally bind that contract similar to what any financial institution would require to bind a mortgage.
In this case, the president tipped his hand and proved his knowledge that in order to have a true presidential pardon that was unquestionable he needed to sign it himself, which he did for the one and only pardon he cared about for his son Hunter. Had he not signed this pardon and issued ALL of his pardons via the questionable autopen then there would be merit to this defense. However, his decision NOT to deviate from historical precedence indicates that he knew deep down the need to hand sign Hunter’s pardon to locking his intent and to be 100% sure of Hunters absolution. Further, it may be Freudian to say that possibly subconsciously he did not care about any other pardon, even for his wife, hence he farmed it out illegally to his staff to issue these pardons without taking the time to sign them to make them legal.
Yes the constitution allows for the presidential to delegate his signature authority to the Vice President but, this is accepted to be limited while “temporarily” unable to perform his duties such as when he may be under anesthesia during surgery. Again, since there is NO legal precedence that regarding the issuance of a presidential pardon by a Vice President ever and certainty not by any other non-elected political appointed administrative staff in the west wing.
Contrary to your belief, based upon these simple facts and historical precedence it would appear to be an EASY case to make. Every autopen document that had some legal bearing such regarding any continuation or establishment of legislation, or for the most unique executive power given to the president to pardon anyone he wishes has to be void since there would never be any way to prove that an autopen signed document was actually approved by the president. Case in point, what if a group of deep state actors, in order to effect a coup, were able to “eliminate” the president and have in their pocket presidential pardons “signed” by the autopen with no paper trail to absolve themselves of any wrong doing? As far fetched as that sounds, we are told that ALL of president Biden’s autopen pardons don’t have much, if any, corroborating evidence that he approved each and everyone of them individually as again was set by presidential precedence. Also presidential pardons were always individual pardons due to the value of them. Blanket pardons are issued to groups of individuals...rather than specific cases. Notably, President Jimmy Carter issued a blanket pardon for Vietnam War draft evaders, and President Donald Trump granted a blanket pardon to nearly 1,600 individuals involved in the January 6 Capitol riots.
Perhaps there is no need for any conspirators to “spill the beans”. The presidential Oval Office voice activated recording system secretly installed by LBJ to record his phone conversations was what brought down Richard Nixon by his secretary Rosemary Woods while playing “twister” while operating the system she “accidentally” erased the infamous 13 minutes of tape.
Again this infamous voice activated recording system may have again recorded many of the conspirators conversations regardless of president Biden being physically present or not given the obvious fact that he was not mentally present all the time. Further, speaking of technological advances, there is no doubt 100% CCTV coverage of all interior offices in the west wing that are backed-up on multiple servers that are NEVER ever erased. If we really dug in there is no doubt that the plethora of “intelligence agencies” that run our government have proof of who actually operated the autopen(s) backed up with HD audio and video recordings memorializing every action taken to effect these “pardons”.
No as a disclaimer, we know that the deep state will never admit to the previous paragraph because it would compromise there sources and methods to keep tabs on “summer help”. But, seriously do you believe that Jeffery Epstein would be the only person with the foresight to wire all the rooms in every one of his homes just to ensure that he knew what was going on and yet all our intelligence agencies would willingly create an intentional black hole in information accumulation by abdicating their “charter” to “protect” and “monitor” sensitive government offices in the name of national security? ;-)

I never meant to suggest that the President could delegate the pardon power. I meant my comment on that as a note that I was aware that--yes--there is one actual provision in the Constitution as amended that allows the Executive authority to be delegated. I assumed that--since the 25th Amendment is not relevant to the present context--I didn't need to spell it out.
One thing you might not be aware of: in the government, actual electronic signatures--not even electronic facsimiles of real ones, like when you sign a document online--are impeccably legal, and have been since legislation to that effect was passed during the Clinton Administration.
And in the commercial sector, there's services like DocuSign that I've used to provide electronic signatures as well, so those rules seem to have percolated out of government and into the private sector.
Since I used to be a contracting officer, I followed all that pretty closely: we used to have raging debates in the early days of the fax machine era as to whether a bilateral document had to have two "wet-ink" signatures, or if a faxed signed document was equally valid. Fortunately congress eventually established clear rules for all that.
Anyhow, I expect you know more about it than I do, and I really have nothing else to add but those two (OK, three) clarifications.

Progress at Starbuck's: Yesterday: Only one guy barrista was wearing a dress. Down from the usual three. However, the coffee was still burnt, and everything was still too expen$ive.

Last summer was the FIRST time I had Starbucks again in all that time, while on the road to TX, and I almost spit it out on my windshield it was so burnt tasting. Truly awful. Can’t believe I ever drank it regularly.
I don’t drink their regular coffee but I like their espresso based drinks and the nitro cold brew. I rarely find anyplace in this country that has good regular coffee though. Usually it’s either too weak for me or just tastes off.

I lived in a pet friendly high rise for a while. I had my Pug with me on the elevator. As the doors opened, this young girl saw him and literally started screaming her head off. I looked at her.....my Pug just sat there. I asked her what her problem was. The elevator doors closed.

I said no excuses, you are lame. But still useful, just remember it's often wrong even on basic, easily verifiable stuff.

Was leaving Newport after a long holiday weekend couple years ago. On the freeway with wife/young son and was literally stopped by a group of several hundred motorcyclists who essentially took it over. We had motorcycles in front, on the side, behind, all automobiles were essentially stopped or slowed to 5-10 mph. Simply for this "gang" to enjoy the freeway for several miles. Most unbelievable thing I've experienced in our 1st world country. Took 45 minutes for them to stop having their fun. No highway patrol, no sheriffs, no law enforcement at all. A 4 lane freeway taken over. CA is a joke.

This morning we learned that the Trump DOJ has “quietly” dropped ALL the Biden “Autopen” cases because there is no case law? Really, come on can’t they come up with a better excuse? Now you are the attorney but, as a layman who has witnessed numerous “novel” twisting of existing laws into silly putty by Jack Smith and others I find this defense preposterous. The fact that the is no case law regarding this malfeasance is key to proving that his is unconstitutional.
Fact: The constitution expressly provides that the President alone has the power of the presidential pardon.
Fact: There is no provision for this authority and power to be delegated to anyone or any machine. (Hence there is NO CASE LAW because this has never been done before)
Caveat: It is my understanding that Barack Obama used the autopen to sign legislation, including an extension of the Patriot Act while he was traveling in Europe. This marked the first time a president officially used an autopen to sign a bill into law. Which really questions if any of the legislation that he signed by auto pen is legitimate. Additionally, since NO one has ever used the auto pen for pardons it is ripe for POTUS to rule on the legality of using the auto pen for any official legislation or pardons.
The fact that the autopen is used for correspondence does not give it any sanction for delegating or usurping the Presidents required input to actually sign the pardon.
Fact: While normally “Intent” is typically difficult to determine, Sleepy Joe served up his intent to us on a silver platter. As a loving father Joe INTENDED to Pardon Hunter so what did he do? President Biden SIGNED Hunter’s Pardon himself as outlined in the constitution to avoid any issue regarding the legality of the Hunter’s pardon. If president Biden trusted the validity of his use of the autopen then he would have had the autopen sign Hunter’s pardon as he “allowed” with all the other pardons that lack any paperwork to validate why a pardon was requested, considered, and finally granted.
Fact: With these above fact there is NO EXCUSE for the DOJ not to pursue prosecution of all autopen pardons as well as any legislation that was not signed by president Obama as well. This is truly a clear cut violation of the constitutional powers bestowed upon the President. It is incumbent upon the Biden administration to defend the personal signature of Hunter’s pardon by President Biden and why this is the ONLY pardon signed by him. The defense that President Obama set the precedence to use the autopen to sign the extension of the Patriot Act should be invalidated along with any other legislation that he signed because he had no reason that would prevent him from signing a document even when traveling in Europe. A White House currier could have easily been dispateched to fly over to Europe to bring the legislation over for his signature and then return it to Washington for formal processing.
If this lame DOJ judgement is allowed to stand then they are proving that President Biden and also President Obama are above the law was they operated outside the confines of the powers delegated to them under the Constitution.

Impeccably correct. But--*contra* your conclusion--the Constitution is completely silent on the means by which the end is to be accomplished.
If I were arguing in defense of the autopen's use, I'd argue that it's no less a reasonable extrapolation using then-unknown technological means as publishing documents on the internet rather than printing them out on dead tree is.
I agree that the Constitution does not authorize the President to *delegate* his signature authority (except under the "temporary disability" provisions in Amendment 25, Section 3).
But I believe it would be very hard to make out a case based solely on the use of the autopen.
Now...if you could prove that some or all of the autopenned docs were signed without the President's knowledge (let alone consent)...different story.
But that also would be no easy task. Probably the only way would be to get one of the conspirators to spill the beans.

Thanks so much for taking time to reply to my post. Not sure if you are an attorney? As I mentioned I am not but, I rely upon Thomas Jefferson’s adage that if a common man can’t decipher what is intended by our government in writing while jogging then it is not worth a damn. Now we know that we have relied upon our legislators to govern the heck out of us the we really only need the 10 commandments along with moral people and judges to preside over disputes. However, as you noted times and technology change but I remind you that human interests and impulses rarely do. In this case the human impulses of the previous commander in chief gave away his intentions, interests and lack of involvement in these autopen pardons. For some spice I add another layer of proof that unfortunately will have plausible deniability by those in charge to protect their privileged oversight of things normally thought to be private even in the most secure locations in our government offices.
Ao yes the constitution is silent but, I would argue that this silence is due to the fact that our Constitution was fabricated upon British Common and Tort Law that in order to have a “contract” recognized by parties not present at the consumption of such that it implied simply that written declaration would be appropriate means to memorialize the pardon. And since a contract in order to be legal needs to be signed, the president signed it.
A contra argument to the adoption of said “new technology” regardless of transmission other than voice or print from our founding to now include electronic transmission over telegraph, radio, telephone, television, and now the internet all legally binding contracts are memorialized in a written document signed by those to be bound by such contract. Yes it may be “printed” on an electronic tablet rather than a dead tree but, still would require a free hand signature to legally bind that contract similar to what any financial institution would require to bind a mortgage.
In this case, the president tipped his hand and proved his knowledge that in order to have a true presidential pardon that was unquestionable he needed to sign it himself, which he did for the one and only pardon he cared about for his son Hunter. Had he not signed this pardon and issued ALL of his pardons via the questionable autopen then there would be merit to this defense. However, his decision NOT to deviate from historical precedence indicates that he knew deep down the need to hand sign Hunter’s pardon to locking his intent and to be 100% sure of Hunters absolution. Further, it may be Freudian to say that possibly subconsciously he did not care about any other pardon, even for his wife, hence he farmed it out illegally to his staff to issue these pardons without taking the time to sign them to make them legal.
Yes the constitution allows for the presidential to delegate his signature authority to the Vice President but, this is accepted to be limited while “temporarily” unable to perform his duties such as when he may be under anesthesia during surgery. Again, since there is NO legal precedence that regarding the issuance of a presidential pardon by a Vice President ever and certainty not by any other non-elected political appointed administrative staff in the west wing.
Contrary to your belief, based upon these simple facts and historical precedence it would appear to be an EASY case to make. Every autopen document that had some legal bearing such regarding any continuation or establishment of legislation, or for the most unique executive power given to the president to pardon anyone he wishes has to be void since there would never be any way to prove that an autopen signed document was actually approved by the president. Case in point, what if a group of deep state actors, in order to effect a coup, were able to “eliminate” the president and have in their pocket presidential pardons “signed” by the autopen with no paper trail to absolve themselves of any wrong doing? As far fetched as that sounds, we are told that ALL of president Biden’s autopen pardons don’t have much, if any, corroborating evidence that he approved each and everyone of them individually as again was set by presidential precedence. Also presidential pardons were always individual pardons due to the value of them. Blanket pardons are issued to groups of individuals...rather than specific cases. Notably, President Jimmy Carter issued a blanket pardon for Vietnam War draft evaders, and President Donald Trump granted a blanket pardon to nearly 1,600 individuals involved in the January 6 Capitol riots.
Perhaps there is no need for any conspirators to “spill the beans”. The presidential Oval Office voice activated recording system secretly installed by LBJ to record his phone conversations was what brought down Richard Nixon by his secretary Rosemary Woods while playing “twister” while operating the system she “accidentally” erased the infamous 13 minutes of tape.
Again this infamous voice activated recording system may have again recorded many of the conspirators conversations regardless of president Biden being physically present or not given the obvious fact that he was not mentally present all the time. Further, speaking of technological advances, there is no doubt 100% CCTV coverage of all interior offices in the west wing that are backed-up on multiple servers that are NEVER ever erased. If we really dug in there is no doubt that the plethora of “intelligence agencies” that run our government have proof of who actually operated the autopen(s) backed up with HD audio and video recordings memorializing every action taken to effect these “pardons”.
No as a disclaimer, we know that the deep state will never admit to the previous paragraph because it would compromise there sources and methods to keep tabs on “summer help”. But, seriously do you believe that Jeffery Epstein would be the only person with the foresight to wire all the rooms in every one of his homes just to ensure that he knew what was going on and yet all our intelligence agencies would willingly create an intentional black hole in information accumulation by abdicating their “charter” to “protect” and “monitor” sensitive government offices in the name of national security? ;-)

I never meant to suggest that the President could delegate the pardon power. I meant my comment on that as a note that I was aware that--yes--there is one actual provision in the Constitution as amended that allows the Executive authority to be delegated. I assumed that--since the 25th Amendment is not relevant to the present context--I didn't need to spell it out.
One thing you might not be aware of: in the government, actual electronic signatures--not even electronic facsimiles of real ones, like when you sign a document online--are impeccably legal, and have been since legislation to that effect was passed during the Clinton Administration.
And in the commercial sector, there's services like DocuSign that I've used to provide electronic signatures as well, so those rules seem to have percolated out of government and into the private sector.
Since I used to be a contracting officer, I followed all that pretty closely: we used to have raging debates in the early days of the fax machine era as to whether a bilateral document had to have two "wet-ink" signatures, or if a faxed signed document was equally valid. Fortunately congress eventually established clear rules for all that.
Anyhow, I expect you know more about it than I do, and I really have nothing else to add but those two (OK, three) clarifications.

Last summer was the FIRST time I had Starbucks again in all that time, while on the road to TX, and I almost spit it out on my windshield it was so burnt tasting. Truly awful. Can’t believe I ever drank it regularly.
I don’t drink their regular coffee but I like their espresso based drinks and the nitro cold brew. I rarely find anyplace in this country that has good regular coffee though. Usually it’s either too weak for me or just tastes off.

Any thoughts on how those liberals vote when they hit red states? In my experience, many of them don't understand that it was their policies that caused all the problems prompting them to leave. Tennessee will be like Colorado ... blue within the next decade (or so).

I think it was Ben Shapiro who many years ago pointed out that everywhere liberals move to, they bring the same mindset and ruin what they took over.
We are looking to leave CA, not as easy as it looks. Where we are has so many things we like; but the tsunami of misery headed to this state - which cannot be reversed by electing a conservative governor - makes the need to move more urgent. We just don’t know where the hell to go. And we are of very modest means.
And CA makes it especially hard to break up completely just like the USSR did back in the day.
We moved from CO to TN a few years ago (for several reasons, but 1 was to move to a red state) and I cannot tell you how many transplants I have met from Illinois (Chicago), California etc. who appear to have brought their politics with them. I know 2 families from California who are conservative. The liberals hook up with the few TN liberals who were already here and then ... well, we know what happens ... The really frustrating part is that they all say that the cost of living was one of the main reasons they moved here!
Plus they often seem to have the attitude that they’ll “educate” the rube locals and “bring a more progressive mindset” to their new state 🙄🙄🙄 It’s so condescending and self important 🙄

As a 40 year Commiefornia refugee during the heat of The Scamdemic, I say JUMP AND THE NET WILL APPEAR. I did research to find my new peeps in a red area in a red state in the south. Zillo and https://www.city-data.com/ were very helpful. If you own a house in CA you should be able to get equal or better on the RIGHT coast (south) of the USA. Happy Trails, but leave any liberal, moonbat ideas back in CA.

Awesome! I spent 15 years in Dallas and finally came back home to South Texas and moved out in the country. The pay scale in South Texas is not as high as North Texas, but I'm retired and don't care!
I only know how my daughter voted. She moved from California to Texas, and she refused to vote on Texas issues, because she thought it wasn't her place to weigh in, when she just moved there. She's a liberal.

…And very smoggy ! I was just there on beautiful crisp cold days with low laying, not good air (terrible actually) quality in that valley surrounded by mts and hills. We were hiking above the city and the whole place was covered in smog.
