Dominion over the world was given to the First Adam who, believing the lie, submitted his authority to Satan's word. Through His life and sacrifice, the Second Adam redeemed mankind thus divesting Satan of authority both in heaven and on earth; and seeing "Satan fall like lightning from heaven" (Lk 10:18), Jesus declared that "ALL authority has been given to Me"... both in heaven and ON earth.
The world IS our home. Satan is simply a squatter to be evicted by the body of Christ on earth.

Jesus was the epitome of a "meek" man. Meek is not weak! American Christian culture, literature and film used to be replete with examples of "meek" men who had great strength and fortitude, men who were gentle and hard as iron. Even in my lifetime, the John Wayne's and Clint Eastwood's of the era portrayed the kind of men who were both gentle and strong.
The point is that such men are motivated by righteousness, hate evil and enforce with strength what is good and just.
When I was 5 years old, we used to be questioned about the homily that was said that day on Sunday. On this particular Sunday, what my young mind heard was "he who humbles himself shall be exhausted"! I have since learned it was "exalted". The word humility coming from its origins of hummus, of the Earth. Neither under or over, but right there, of the Earth.
Although our dictionaries like to tie it to “submissive”, and I’m not sure that’s the correct definition. Maybe submissive to God, but not to just any man. I feel as if it became that on purpose by those who wished to exploit it.

In Hebrew ‘meek’ is translated as ‘controlled strength’ or “anaw” which is a humble and gentle spirit w/ total dependence on God. These are the meanings from the original, source Scriptures and were well understood by 1st century followers of the Way. The translation to English in Middle Ages has distorted the interpretation, unfortunately.

She was what we call a hermit who wrote of seeing the entire universe contained within a small hazelnut in the palm of her hand. Her writings illustrate how spiritual gentleness and trust allow the soul to "inherit" the earth by beholding the cosmos's absolute dependence on God's love.
When Jesus spoke of the meek inheriting the earth, I believe he was talking about a future time when He will reign and King, and all criminals will be dealt with with a rod of iron. it will be a time of peace the world has yet to experience.
It is my understanding that those who inherit the earth to be with Christ when He reigns will not be with those who were unrepentant criminals. Those who did not chose Christ will have already been dealt with.

We could fix the voting process by requiring voters to understand why the Constitution was supposed to restrain the government. During the summer of 2021, I was going back and forth to PHX. That year the PNW experienced a "heat dome" for a week or so, during which time we broke temperature records 4 days in a row. It was 114 degrees at my house on that hottest 4th day. When I flew back to PHX 6 weeks later, it was 114 degrees, and the difference between dry heat and the humid heat was quite something to experience. For the record, both are just too doggone hot!! 😂🤣
I remember that heat wave too, Knife. It was perhaps last year or the year prior that the burnt / singed rhododendron leaves in my yard from that heat dome finally disappeared. The plant life in PNW kept reminding us of what had been.
Matt, wow, that took a long time to recover! The west sides of all the trees around here were a burnt orange color for a year or so, but most of them recovered. I was really surprised that most of them didn't die. Just goes to show that our evergreens are really quite hardy!

There are some cool —pun intended— homemade AC units on sites like INSTRUCTIBLES. We made one for the barn several years ago. I seem to remember a small styrofoam cooler, ice, a small copper pipe and some sort of battery operated fan? Duct tape was involved as well. Copper and ice together, really pack a punch.
When our AC was out for a couple of days, we slept with shallow dishes (sheet cake/casserole sized) filled with ice, and fans blowing over/across them. The shallow aspect was so the fans weren’t blowing onto the side of a bowl, but rather, blowing directly over and onto piled ice. It was not a replacement for AC but it did help.
A Moscow Mule in a real copper cup is a wonderful, cooling thing, and if you have enough of them, you won’t care whether or not you have AC. 😜
KC, I had to laugh - we moved to Denver at the start of a 45-day heat wave. Our bedroom was on the top floor, with the afternoon sun pouring in the one window. No A/C. The Mr. rigged a fan-and-ice combo at the foot of the bed on moving boxes and I soaked large bath towels in cold water in the tub, then draped them over us for the evaporative effect from the fan. We had to get up and re-soak the towels a couple of times each night, but we got through it. Ah, young newlyweds, living on love and not much else!!

You would be better to install an Evaporative Cooling Unit, or Swamp Cooler! They are far less expensive to operate and create just enough humidity to keep the sinuses clear and moist. Also, you can keep a few windows open and here the birds and the kids frolicking outside!
When I was a child we had a “swamp cooler” on top of our house to cool the whole house. As I remember, the humidity it produced cause our door and wooden window frames to swell so it was difficult to open and close them, and the humidity also ruined our piano. Maybe they have been improved since then.
That can happen if you don't leave some windows open. The windows act as a draw to push the hot air out of the structure. In hot climates, the added humidity acts as a balance to the shrinking doors and furniture!

Exactly. Jesus was not promoting "meek" men, such as most would understand the meaning of meek today. Brings to mind all the young "soy boys" I see these days that parade around like peacocks and wilt at the first hint of a real challenge.
Jesus was the epitome of a "meek" man. He cleansed His Temple with righteous strength and He challenged the god-image of Caesar on the Roman coinage which was treason and sedition under Roman law and said "give unto God those things that belong to God" thus plainly stating that Caesar was NOT god thus earning for Himself a Roman death sentence. Jesus then marched willingly as the Son of God to His death on a Roman cross to ransom repentant mankind from the penalty of breaking God's Law-Word.
Meek is not weak! American Christian culture, literature and film used to be replete with examples of "meek" men who had great strength and fortitude, men who were gentle and hard as iron. Even in my lifetime, the John Wayne's and Clint Eastwood's of the era portrayed the kind of men who were both gentle and strong.
The point is that such men are motivated by righteousness, hate evil and enforce with strength what is good and just.

When I was 5 years old, we used to be questioned about the homily that was said that day on Sunday. On this particular Sunday, what my young mind heard was "he who humbles himself shall be exhausted"! I have since learned it was "exalted". The word humility coming from its origins of hummus, of the Earth. Neither under or over, but right there, of the Earth.

The translation to English in Middle Ages has distorted the interpretation, unfortunately.

She was what we call a hermit who wrote of seeing the entire universe contained within a small hazelnut in the palm of her hand. When Jesus spoke of the meek inheriting the earth, I believe he was talking about a future time when He will reign and King, and all criminals will be dealt with with a rod of iron. it will be a time of peace the world has yet to experience.

I cretainly agree with the scripture, but we must remember that Jesus specifically aimed it at interpersonal , me to you and you to me relations. Apostle Paul (Romans 13:1-4) admonished us to respect government who carries the sword. When our government acts in honest, honorable way to "carry out God's wrath on the wrongdoer". We must appreciate and commend it.
So when someone is coming into your home to rape your child, should we wait for God to intervene at that moment or take action? God would want us to take action and stop the crime. That was then, this is now and there is more evil that we are dealing with. Hate the enemy works for me.

We could fix the voting process by requiring voters to understand why the Constitution was supposed to restrain the government. (Legal) immigrants must pass a citizenship test to become citizens so why do we allow people who have no understanding of the Constitution to vote? security so the big income people stop contributing after that figure is reached. We could easily fund SS if we simply lifted the cap. By the way, Medicare deductions have no cap.
But we have no choice not to pay into it. If we were truly a free people, we would have the choice to opt out but it's basically a ponzi scheme so we get no choice to opt out. And, as my article explained, if you took the $2,480.00/year of social security taxes taken out of a paycheck based on 40K for forty years - which is below the average annual salary - after 40 years @ 10% which is average investment, you would have around 1.2 million dollars, earning 50K in dividends a year (more than the 40K salary). But we are forced to pay into SS. How can we claim to be free Americans when we don't get a choice how to invest our own money?

During the summer of 2021, I was going back and forth to PHX. That year the PNW experienced a "heat dome" for a week or so, during which time we broke temperature records 4 days in a row. It was 114 degrees at my house on that hottest 4th day. When I flew back to PHX 6 weeks later, it was 114 degrees, and the difference between dry heat and the humid heat was quite something to experience. For the record, both are just too doggone hot!! 😂🤣

I remember that heat wave too, Knife. It was perhaps last year or the year prior that the burnt / singed rhododendron leaves in my yard from that heat dome finally disappeared. The plant life in PNW kept reminding us of what had been.

Well, Europe is experiencing what Hell feels like since they welcomed it with open arms.
There are some cool —pun intended— homemade AC units on sites like INSTRUCTIBLES. We made one for the barn several years ago. I seem to remember a small styrofoam cooler, ice, a small copper pipe and some sort of battery operated fan? Duct tape was involved as well. Copper and ice together, really pack a punch.
When our AC was out for a couple of days, we slept with shallow dishes (sheet cake/casserole sized) filled with ice, and fans blowing over/across them. The shallow aspect was so the fans weren’t blowing onto the side of a bowl, but rather, blowing directly over and onto piled ice. It was not a replacement for AC but it did help.
A Moscow Mule in a real copper cup is a wonderful, cooling thing, and if you have enough of them, you won’t care whether or not you have AC. 😜
KC, I had to laugh - we moved to Denver at the start of a 45-day heat wave. Our bedroom was on the top floor, with the afternoon sun pouring in the one window. No A/C. The Mr. rigged a fan-and-ice combo at the foot of the bed on moving boxes and I soaked large bath towels in cold water in the tub, then draped them over us for the evaporative effect from the fan. We had to get up and re-soak the towels a couple of times each night, but we got through it. Ah, young newlyweds, living on love and not much else!!

A swamp cooler helps in non-humid heat. I don't know if they still make them, but in the pre-AC days, I appreciated my swamp cooler.

They still make them and they are better and cheaper to maintain and run than a standard air conditioning unit! They are a must in certain inland areas of California! Even little town hardware stores stock the woven thatch replacement mats. We call it 'poor mans' air conditioning!
Had to install our heat pump a decade ago and it sure helps during these 1-2 weeks of the year where it gets hot up here.

• The inside of the fridge gets cold because the fridge pulls heat out of the food and air inside and pushes that heat out the back (you can feel the warm air coming from the coils behind it). A heat pump works exactly the same way — just bigger, and it can run in both directions.

You would be better to install an Evaporative Cooling Unit, or Swamp Cooler! They are far less expensive to operate and create just enough humidity to keep the sinuses clear and moist. Also, you can keep a few windows open and here the birds and the kids frolicking outside!
When I was a child we had a “swamp cooler” on top of our house to cool the whole house. As I remember, the humidity it produced cause our door and wooden window frames to swell so it was difficult to open and close them, and the humidity also ruined our piano. Maybe they have been improved since then.
That can happen if you don't leave some windows open. The windows act as a draw to push the hot air out of the structure. In hot climates, the added humidity acts as a balance to the shrinking doors and furniture!
@Mrs. Knife- I just got back from Portland today after a 2 week visit. It was glorious! There's so little humidity there, as opposed to Western NY where I live, that it's hot but tolerable!

I don't think Thune has the votes! We saw what happened when he recently took the Save Act to a vote. Four RINO's in squishy seats voted with the Democrats! There are processes and vote counts that Thune is not in control of. The Republican Majority in the Senate is far too slim and precarious at the moment!

We knew a family who's oldest son attended UC Santa Barbara in the late 2010's into the teens. He returned home a changed person, left his Conservative home town and headed off to Portlandia! He decided to be a teacher. Yikes! I hope he didn't become emotionally involved in the lunacy!
