The parents of an acquaintance came to CA illegally and then took the steps to become legal. He initially bristled at the crackdowns but then realized that many who complain might spend vast sums on their daughters quinceanera but not on legal services to become legal.
My special needs adult daughter receives companion/care giving services through a pilot program the state of Florida just started in the last two years. Hat tip to Florida (DeSantis?) who previously offered nothing but a 25,000 person waitlist for any help. Hmm. Wonder why? That’s a topic for another day….
Fast forward to my conversation with the agency that provides companion/caregivers…..she has lost a client (person with disabilities) due to deportation (deportation word not used….just words like “the administration”and “fear”. The family has apparently disappeared. Because of what “the administration is doing”.
She thought I would be a sympathetic ear. She was wrong.
I applaud the federal govt for finally upholding the law and deporting people here illegally. My heart goes out to the family caring for a special needs adult child - more than words can express. I REALLY REALLY get it. But, our tax dollars are paying for the “help” given to illegal families/people -that it took us- law abiding and tax paying CITIZENS -6 years to get in Florida.
For any who think this is a heartless view….you haven’t walked in our shoes caring for a special needs child/adult without help. I do think that illegal family should have help. They NEED help. From the country they are legally from. If I went to another country illegally and expected them to provide help financial or caregiver…they would laugh me out of their country.

My son waited three long years to get SSDI benefits despite 20 years of full documentation of his disabilities and treatment, AND a current (at that time) neuro-psych eval that concluded he was totally disabled. The state disregarded it all and required their own psychiatrist to evaluate him. So 50 minutes with one man trumped 20 years of specialists. Thankfully their psychiatrist concurred with our records. Still he was denied twice after that. During those three years our state was paying illegals over $3800/mo with ease. The minute Trump took office, a month later my son was finally approved, for 1/3 what illegals are paid. I’m unsure how his election impacted it, but clearly it did and people were scrambling to CYA.
(We are thankful for the 1/3, as any and all help is impactful for him, and we don’t protest for more. Of course he lives with us so we help as much as we can. My heart feels for those with no family to help. They can’t survive on his benefits.)

In my town there were doctors who publicly advised patients not to go to the hospital with Covid under any circumstances. They gave out their private phone numbers, took calls from anyone at any time, and called in prescriptions for hydroxychloroquin and ivermectin to the pharmacies they knew would fill them. Many doctors were duped, as were many of the public, but many doctors were real heros.
Monsters of Medicine whose callous amorality, anti-Theistic Materialism, intellect, and view of self and their craft justifies a superior position over the diseased members of the human herd.
This morning I read Psalm 12 and it just struck me how it applies today.
