I am very interested to know who the actual victims are in this case. I was a public health nurse in Lancaster County from 1978 to 1980. During that time, we had the TMI accident and the polio outbreak. Our staff of nurses held clinics all over the county in the plain community. We gave oral polio vaccine in schools, homes and once above a pig barn, after which I came home smelling like hog manure. These good folks willingly lined up to take the vaccine because, compared to the MMR, it was relatively safe. I am reasonably certain they would not do the same today and would exert their religious exemption to keep from taking the MMR. I await the actual truth about these two deaths.
I got measles and chicken pox. Whoopee it was a holiday from school. I remember parents having measles and chickenpox parties to ensure their kids got through that childhood right of passage.

I live in PA and you have accurately described Shapiro. Sadly, he will win reelection because Stacy Garrity is a weak Republican candidate, and Shapiro has been very adept at staying underneath the radar on a whole range of issues...until yesterday. That said, our local newspaper out here in the western part of the state carried not one word of the measles "emergency."

That tendency does run against the grain of how we think of conservatives in the sense that conservatives are where all the smart people are. Interesting that it happens in MD too. That trait might just explain how it happened that the Dems wormed their way into controlling just about every aspect of our government. And when handed a really strong issue such as the SAVE Act, Senate Republicans can't or won't get it passed. At any rate, it's an interesting thesis.
The problem is finding a strong candidate, who is willing to run, in areas entirely dominated by the other party. Because loss is so likely an outcome, it seems, to many qualified potential candidates, a waste of time and an unpleasantness, which they could spend more productively elsewhere.
In states dominated, as Maryland is, by one party, even getting candidates into civic offices in order to develop relevant experience for a campaign resume can be difficult.

No, as far as I know from back in the 60's when I got vaccinated, nobody who got the vaccine got polio. Those who put off getting the vaccine however where the only ones I saw getting it.

The second I read about 'the killer measles' plague today, I thought distraction. And all it would take is another good large health crisis to distract from Iran failure, dollar and liquidity troubles, inflation and so on.
My second thought was more a check on my first thought, and a caution to myself not to run wildly to conclusions.

I’m a supporter of a strong sealed southern border. But, we need to also be mindful that correlation (lots of illegal crossing) doesn’t automatically mean causation (rise in Measles cases).
Do you realize they very carefully do NOT publish which STRAIN of measles it is anymore? Because the strain is the one in their shots. Leaky 'vaccines' are the cause of so many illnesses. See my other post for more detail.
It wasn’t the case in West Texas. Jeff speculated it was nursing home patients in PA. Commenters here have pointed out Amish community in PA where latest cases have presented. We don’t know on PA case yet. I choose to follow the facts in this case, instead of speculation.
It isn’t a third world diseases thing, John. It isn’t even a disease, really. More like an illness. It’s a fever, runny nose, and itchy rash. Each time you cross paths with someone who had actual measles, it “boosts” you, and can confer anti-cancer properties against certain cancers but what do we do? Inject every kid with it, so we’ve effectively wiped out a rash-illness and traded it for worse cancers.

Many years ago there was a newspaper article about Prince Charles having measles and was resting comfortably. His mother, Queen Elizabeth employed a homeopathic doctor. One obvious problem with third worlders is bed bugs. They were eliminated in the US for decades, but now you face bedbug roulette in any motel or hotel you stay in. One can reduce the risk by avoiding the cheapest places, but there's always a risk.

Immunity isn't hereditary. Each person develops their own after they are exposed to the disease.
That story about Indians all dying off from smallpox (and they have recently added measles to the myth, cause.....reasons) before the settlers even got to their land is a very convenient antidote to the history we all learned before they decided it was embarrassing, the settlers circling the wagons, the Calvary saving the day (by killing the Indians), the wiping out of Geronimo and Cochise, "The only good Indian is a dead Indian".....all of it gone now with the "They all died of smallpox. When nursing, during the first few hours after birth, the mother, via her milk, passes on all of her immunities to her child. This is why a lot of people were against ‘bottle babies’ babies that never got their mother’s milk, because they missed out on that very important aspect.
Some immunity is, in fact, inherited. For example, women who acquired measles as children (before the vaccine) passed that immunity on to their children.

Pennsylvanian here, hunting seems cruel but when there are so many, they get hit on the roads and suffer so much more. They also decimate gardens and drop ticks all over. I love them but there is a balance that needs to be maintained.
Most hunters I know (I'm a PA resident in the hunting part of the state) use their deer for food over the winter. Many others donate the meat to poor families. If the deer had more natural predators, their population would be in a better balance, but the younger generation of men aren't any longer interested in hunting thanks to the "hunting is cruel" image. So...deer herds have grown and I can't tell you how many have been killed on the road in front of our home. Those who aren't hit are forming herds in town and raiding people's gardens, something unheard of decades ago.
Last winter someone hit a deer in front of the next door neighbor's house (out of the other 5 I know about). Its antler was shorn off. It got as far as into the neighbor's back yard where it died from bleeding to death over the loss of its antler. When we found it in the morning, it was still alive. By the time our son-in-law arrived here with his pistol it had bled out. I can't imagine its suffering. But I'm not willing to ban vehicles to stop this kind of thing. Further, they now carry dangerous ticks. The number of deer in the forests here exceed their food supply, so some are so thin their ribs show. What we need is the return of deer predators. That's how nature works. Would you shame the wolves and bobcats too?

In addition to measles not being significantly deadly… there’s a Japanese study that followed people over decades, and those who had and recovered from a measles infection, had long term cardio protection later in life. In other words less heart problems. This study was discussed in Aaron Siri’s book Vaccines, Amen.

I am very interested to know who the actual victims are in this case. I was a public health nurse in Lancaster County from 1978 to 1980. During that time, we had the TMI accident and the polio outbreak. Our staff of nurses held clinics all over the county in the plain community. We gave oral polio vaccine in schools, homes and once above a pig barn, after which I came home smelling like hog manure. These good folks willingly lined up to take the vaccine because, compared to the MMR, it was relatively safe. I am reasonably certain they would not do the same today and would exert their religious exemption to keep from taking the MMR. I await the actual truth about these two deaths.

I live in PA and you have accurately described Shapiro. Sadly, he will win reelection because Stacy Garrity is a weak Republican candidate, and Shapiro has been very adept at staying underneath the radar on a whole range of issues...until yesterday. That said, our local newspaper out here in the western part of the state carried not one word of the measles "emergency."

That tendency does run against the grain of how we think of conservatives in the sense that conservatives are where all the smart people are. Interesting that it happens in MD too. That trait might just explain how it happened that the Dems wormed their way into controlling just about every aspect of our government. And when handed a really strong issue such as the SAVE Act, Senate Republicans can't or won't get it passed. At any rate, it's an interesting thesis.
The problem is finding a strong candidate, who is willing to run, in areas entirely dominated by the other party. Because loss is so likely an outcome, it seems, to many qualified potential candidates, a waste of time and an unpleasantness, which they could spend more productively elsewhere.
In states dominated, as Maryland is, by one party, even getting candidates into civic offices in order to develop relevant experience for a campaign resume can be difficult.

The second I read about 'the killer measles' plague today, I thought distraction. And all it would take is another good large health crisis to distract from Iran failure, dollar and liquidity troubles, inflation and so on.

It isn’t a third world diseases thing, John. It isn’t even a disease, really. More like an illness. It’s a fever, runny nose, and itchy rash. Each time you cross paths with someone who had actual measles, it “boosts” you, and can confer anti-cancer properties against certain cancers but what do we do? Inject every kid with it, so we’ve effectively wiped out a rash-illness and traded it for worse cancers.

IIRC, the 2 TX cases were children who died of apparent medical malpractice. They both had treatable pneumonias, which neither medical team properly diagnosed, and the pneumonias killed them. One of the 2 had already recovered from measles, as I recall.

When nursing, during the first few hours after birth, the mother, via her milk, passes on all of her immunities to her child. This is why a lot of people were against ‘bottle babies’ babies that never got their mother’s milk, because they missed out on that very important aspect.
Some immunity is, in fact, inherited. For example, women who acquired measles as children (before the vaccine) passed that immunity on to their children.

Pennsylvanian here, hunting seems cruel but when there are so many, they get hit on the roads and suffer so much more. They also decimate gardens and drop ticks all over. I love them but there is a balance that needs to be maintained.
And some of them appear to be so undernourished.
Same could be said of humans.
Most hunters I know (I'm a PA resident in the hunting part of the state) use their deer for food over the winter. Many others donate the meat to poor families. If the deer had more natural predators, their population would be in a better balance, but the younger generation of men aren't any longer interested in hunting thanks to the "hunting is cruel" image. So...deer herds have grown and I can't tell you how many have been killed on the road in front of our home. Those who aren't hit are forming herds in town and raiding people's gardens, something unheard of decades ago.

Last winter someone hit a deer in front of the next door neighbor's house (out of the other 5 I know about). Its antler was shorn off. It got as far as into the neighbor's back yard where it died from bleeding to death over the loss of its antler. When we found it in the morning, it was still alive. By the time our son-in-law arrived here with his pistol it had bled out. I can't imagine its suffering. But I'm not willing to ban vehicles to stop this kind of thing. Further, they now carry dangerous ticks. The number of deer in the forests here exceed their food supply, so some are so thin their ribs show. What we need is the return of deer predators. That's how nature works. Would you shame the wolves and bobcats too?
Lori, they need predators or too many survive, and then the natural mode of death is cruel starvation. We're just filling the predator niche that mountain lions and wolves used to fill.

Apparently, we all got small enough doses that our immune systems responded without us actually falling ill. If you got your measles titre checked, you might be immune also.

In 2014 I had a doc who wanted me to take MMR (I’m old). I said no, I had ALL the childhood diseases in the 60s. She would not believe me and so insisted I get the titre tests. Every single one came back showing I was immune. I was happy to shut her up.
