I'm so thankful that the Holy Spirit is interceding on our behalf. There are so many times when I become overwhelmed or do not know what to pray but I know that the Holy Spirit is there pleading and He knows what is best.

What is 'the Holy Spirit'?

And how can you know it is interceding on our behalf?

Now that's a questions that I cannot cover adequately here. My suggestion would be to read a book which is an explanation of the Scriptures in the Bible that speak on the Holy Spirit. "Who is the Holy Spirit?" by R C Sproul would be a book that I would recommend. "Anthology of the Holy Spirit" by John MacArthur is also good. There are also resources on their websites (Ligonier & Grace to You). You have to be careful as many people have twisted the Scriptures to make the Holy Spirit a genie to grant their wishes. The Holy Spirit has many purposes but all of them are related to drawing us close to God, sanctifying us (helping us live like Christ); reminding us of sin, empowering us to have victory over sin, indwelling us and producing the fruit of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control) within us (Galatians 5:22-23).

As far as knowing He is interceding on our behalf, Scripture says that He is interceding and thus by faith I believe it.(Romans 8:26-27 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groaning to deep for words... the Spirit intercedes for the saints, according to the will of God." )

I can attest to the peace beyond understanding that God through the Holy Spirit blessed me with following a car accident in which doctors thought I would die. When I awakened, the doctors had amputated my leg to try to save my life. The nurse thought I wasn't handling the situation well because I wasn't upset. She didn't understand that God had given me peace that was beyond understanding. Having peace in that circumstance wasn't logical, it is was spiritual and it was a gift of the Spirit.

I appreciate that God has allowed me to be under Biblical teaching since I began attending church when I was a teenager. I know that I am truly blessed.

Then it has been overloaded for over two weeks now. Many have complained of this problem to no avail. <Sigh>

I have that problem sometimes but not always. But it is frustrating when that happens. I'm like you. I just leave a comment. 😊

Actually the question should be "Who?"

Found a couple of sermons on Grace to you to address your questions:

MacArthur does grammatical, historical interpretation of the Biblical Scriptures. Just like we would believe the Constitution is best interpreted in the context of the era in which is was written (ie constitutionalist judges), the Bible is no different. It is still relevant today because it is truth. Truth never changes and God's word doesn't change.

I do hope that you find these resources helpful.
