I have numerous translations of the Bible. I have a large stack of old hymnals. It just seemed to me, when they started changing words in newer versions of Scripture and hymns, it was time to keep every one of them. I looked up an old hymn yesterday, to see if there was any difference. Sure enough, it had been completely renamed and the lyrics rewritten.... with a "modern" version....that made zero sense. It won't last, I tell myself... that old hymn is still relevant over 125yrs later. The "newer" one, not so much...

We do too. Many Bibles from 30 years ago. I hesitate to even buy one now without vetting it’s “new” print. Ugh. I did buy one recently for someone else and they were tying to sell me on a “new” version. I said nope 👎🏻.

I prefer the ESV but have no less than 10 translations, all written before 1985... the "old" days...

I have the 1560 edition. I have occasionally used it to check references.
