It's a translation of ancient languages, it's only to be expected that different translators would prefer different English renderings. That said, some of the new versions ARE truly terrible, so one should certainly do the research - but many are also quite decent, depending on the reader's preferred style and degree of "literalness" (ie, word-for-word translation versus translating an entire equivalent phrase).
Although there's also nothing wrong with sticking to a known trusted version if one already has a copy.
Not to mention all the “new” versions keep changing and watering down the scriptures. So many versions and they don’t all say the same thing.
